@DHK where are you getting 6500/7500k DPS?
With a base of 2000 cond damage and if you get 25 bleeds, and even at the highest stacks of might you get around 6060 DPS (bleed 4650 / burning 1047 / poison 368).
Without might would be 4680
I would love for direct damage to have a cap, like a certain amount of damage per second or couple of seconds. Have that in till they fix conditions and you will see everyone wanting to fix conditions then.
Bleed 3500, Burning 800, posion 270 is pretty much the high average on condition damage person second. That’s 4500 a second with max stacks and high condition damage.
Lets be nice and double that for direct damge at 9k a second a group can do in a second when they reach this and go over that the mob will go immune until the second is up and starts again.
Would love to see this and all the direct damage people cry. Could also fix the zerker meta at the same time and people go more of a survivability spec. I’m just being spiteful but this is what conditions have to live with and worse.

This needs a bump on for front page… Conditions are one of the most broken mechanics in PvE and ANet have not advertised anything about fixing the issue.
We all know there is 0 point taking more than 1 bleed spammer in a group and even 1 can be pointless because the other classes in your group can delete your damage making you less efficient.
Something that is really on my nerves at the moment is that 90% of my groups seem to have a mesmer who uses duelists and if they go that spec they will have a forced trait that illusions do bleeds on crit (100% also). If they have 3 of these up duelists will do potentially 24 bleeds (normally somewhere around 15-20 though).
Though that’s 15-20 of my bleed damage deleted by a teammate, this is such a broken mechanic that needs to be fixed and have said this in a few threads now but its just on my nerves. For this reason you shouldn’t bring a condition user in PvE.
Please ANet just give us some info about how you are fixing the problem as it has been over a year now and nothing has been done.

Not first hand experience but I think it only gives look for Skill 1 and also DS skill 1.
Some clarification from someone with it would be more useful for you though.
@Zikory 25 bleeds in a zerg? I haven’t been able to get above 10 in a long while.
They really mucked up with the cloth materials haha, funny how Goss is cheaper than Silk at the moment.
Don’t forget Skale Venom consumable for weakness and vul. 5 people with that up and you can rack it up even with other traits/skills classes have. No need for a Necro just for these.
Also do mobs do glancing blows with weakness? I’ve never noticed it before as guessing it doesn’t say glancing damage for incoming damage? It should though.
Not being able to have 2 condition users in a group is pretty annoying, even if you are the only condition specced person you can lose out on your DPS.

I’ve been getting 22+ reaching 25 sometimes for a few seconds. Meaning there is 0 point in any other condition users in my group and if someone with a damage build does a bleed it deletes my damage meaning I’m less efficient.
When will they fix this broken mechanic… Thought a year would give them enough time to fix something this big.
Few reasons.
1) I can almost guarantee its a company policy to not post in the Profession forums
2) Nothing they could post would accomplish anything positive
Saw them post on mesmer forum a week ago so no.1 isn’t true. I haven’t even looked on the other boards though.
My 60 second bleed doesn’t even last 3 seconds on most world bosses /flex.
My damage on condition necro gets deleted by zerker build mesmers because they have a forced trait which illusions deal bleeds on crits. How is it fair that a ‘teammate’ deletes my damage completely if they have 3 of their duelists up.
@Dalanor… Doesn’t ele have more aoe than us and they have options for cleave with d/d (lightning).
Extreme challenge – Do FoTM 40+ with 5 condition necros! (or any 5 bleed spamming builds)
The biggest broken mechanic is still in the game and ANet have done 0 about it. I was going to say I wonder if they even care about bleeds/condition builds but they really don’t.
Zerker mesmers still delete our bleed stacks which is annoying with their duellist. Making our roughly 3k dps to 1-2k dps or even worse as 3 duellists can do 24 stacks of bleeds every 5 seconds.

Guild sounds perfect for what I’m wanting, currently a pretty active Necro roamer but want to go to more organised group centred gameplay now.
Only problem is I’m from EU (play on NA servers currently on JQ). My times would be really weak during the week but would be ok on the weekends. Which guessing would be a problem with some activity you would be wanting.
I play my necro in WvW a lot as love roaming with it, but I would be stupid to bring it into PvE/fractals. Too cheap to buy a berserker set for the moment.
A lot more useful classes that actually give something to the group and do damage that isn’t deleted from ‘teammates’.
Until they fix the broken mechanic that is bleeds no one should be conditions in PvE.
Yeah I think it’s pretty stupid heavy classes can do the damage they do when light users don’t get anywhere close. What sort of balance is that… GW1 was more balanced than this.
Just everyone role Wars/Guards and make ANet happy. Then they can delete the classes they don’t like.
Longshot for them to implement new weapons but I want a Scythe for my Necro!
Other than that I wouldn’t mind a GS with Melee cleave and a invulnerability on it.
Shame necros don’t have any reflects or group utility to give groups more incentive to give us a chance.
Are we also the only class that doesn’t have a reflect skill and also no invuls or vigor…. kitten .

@Leamas nope it’s the oldest bleeds casted on the mob that get deleted… granted they are about to go off maybe in 5-6 seconds but still that can be 500-600 damage each.
It would be pretty unfair if you think about it in open world bosses one person having 25 stacks of might having what like 2500 condition damage and not letting anyone else do damage with conditions?
If bleeds stack were to go to 20 the condition damage needs to be buffed as at to even 25 bleeds to a lot less dps and direct damage.
Actually a direct damage cap would be awesome to balance… maybe have 10k a second cap. So when a group does more than 10k damage in that second the mob will be immune. Once that second is up damage can be done again.

Conditions aren’t fine in PvE… you can only have 1 condition user in a group and that is a major flaw in GW2. Even then their damage can be deleted by direct damage classes.
A zerker geared mesmer using Phantasmal Duelist will crit about 80% of the time with fury up. Now look what trait they normally to get if they use a zerker build. Sharper Images … this trait lets illusions do a bleed on each crit. Meaning a possible of 8 with the duelist and 12 with the warden. That is atleast 24-30 bleeds possible but lets say 15-20… now that is a lot of damage to take away/delete from the condition spec people in the group when you aren’t even geared for conditions.
When you can have 5 direct damage dealers in a group and only 1 condition user to be effective… It’s a broken mechanic and it hasn’t been fixed since release.

Conditions haven’t been fixed since release… of course they don’t care about PvE balance.
I got wupwup chest yesterday… Not sure if celestrial is good for necro maybe hybrid but don’t even think it’s good for that. Can save maybe for an ele/engie if i ever make 1 ^^
or use it as a aquatic weapon :p
Necro is the only class that has to use an elite to do a 100% or close to it stomp.
Every other class can use stealth or a utility to get stability.
Not to my knowledge it’s the oldest bleed, unless someone can back it up?
I think you are thinking of a idea someone put forward, but never got any light by anet.
Would be a bit unfair though wouldn’t it on open world bosses 1 guy going to have crazy cond damage and others won’t have any.
I’d take the Scythe… give us Scythe weapon set with melee cleave!
Well when 1 berserker mesmer can ruin my entire damage that’s gets to be a problem… he spawns 3 of his pistol unload phatasms each one can crit 8 times and each crit will put on a bleed 8/16/24… so each time they unload they will delete some/all my damage.
‘DELETE’ MY DAMAGE and his supposed to be on my team? Game is broken and has been since day 1 with bleed conditions.
Roll Mesm/War/Guard… I joke but that’s been my perspective lately… 30+ all I get is aggressiveness by being a necro.
Until they fix conditions also (not sure why it’s taking so long, we’ve been waiting a year+ now) we will be losing damage with our bleeds, and if you go power we still not as effect as a warrior in melee and we in cloth compared to their heavy.

Yeah my 1 gripe with GW2 has always been downed state… it has been imo the worst implementation in any MMO ever for PvP reasons.
Also the amount of weapon skins they bring out and no ‘locker system’ in place… having to have 10+ same weapons in my pack/bank is annoying.
Conditions…. totally broken mechanic and if I was working at Arenanet and not fixed this after a year I would be very embarrassed.

I would love to try a build like this out see if it’s any fun/good problem is pretty expensive to gear up and might not like it / be effective.
I saw this brought up in a post a few weeks ago… but this is nice proof about damaging being applied twice (x2) if it ends the pool of DS.
Hopefully this is seen by dev and can be fixed for next patch I will definitely be putting in a bug report and hope everyone else does as well. If this isn’t fixed it is an incredible flaw in our main mechanic.
Condi is fine in pve though if you have 1 person who does conds also then you’re kittened and doing less damage than you should be.
Sorry for the derail but I am surprised by some reactions regarding the DS fix. How is having 200 points left of DS, taking a 6K hit and but soaking up the entire hit balanced or not bugged? You shouldn’t have more points in DS than you are given, right? Or is there something I’m missing?
Why don’t necromancers have any invul skills? But every other class has it or a block/distortion ect? This was our only thing we had that was like what other classes have and it was taken from us. Now you know what you are missing.
Guardians feel neglected,

I’d rather have an extra utility than any of the elites of the necro. And that is quite the opposite of elite skills in gw1.
That would be awesome for necro… I’m a roamer in WvW most the time and no elites are that useful, one that can be some sort of useful is Flesh Golum but it dies too quickly… I had a guardian aoe it down in about second while hitting me also for same damage.
Though knowing most things if we can swap out an elite for a extra utility other classes would get most out of it somehow haha.
I would love scythe on my necromancer with a melee cleave!
Though ANet said they would give current weapons to classes before creating new weapons so I would +1 GS on Necro. Even though there is so many Twilight would look awesome on Necros… more so than any other class that currently can wield it.
ANet you disappoint me that it has been over a year and NOTHING has been done to fix this broken mechanic.

If they say they cannot do anything to conditions because they cannot program it correctly… They need to do something to power builds to make them in line with conditions.
So maybe having a cap on direct damage could be a solution? With 2000 cond damage which seems the highest not including might, DPS on conds is about 3500. So lets say direct damage cap per second could be around 7-10k. No single person could or say should do that kind of damage in a second anyway… so shouldn’t ruin anything with solo play. Group play however it might be bad but so is conditions.
So what will happen is if damage goes above this, the damage then gets ignored. All of this is exaggerated to show you how stupid condition cap is compared to direct damage.
Conditions need to be fixed in general not just against bosses like Tequatl… If you have more than 1 person that uses conditions you lose DPS. Even if you only have 1 person that uses conditions, pure damage users sometimes have a random forced trait that gives bleeds on crit that can overwrite the higher damage conditions.
5 Warriors all damage spec can do a dungeon… all are useful.
5 Necros all conditions 4 of them are useless. Remember before posting that ANet advertised that you can group up with anyone any spec and do something no trinity no searching for healers, tanks or dps.
I say if conditions aren’t fixed direct damage should take a hit to compensate to be inline with conditions. The best thing I’ve heard is to put a cap on DPS say like 5-10k (conditions do like 3-4k max a second so this is still better) damage a second if the mob takes more than that in a second people start doing immune damage which won’t go higher. If they can’t design a system that allows all conditions they need to change direct damage to be inline with conditions, or just remove bleeds from the game and create something else instead.
I got 2 ectos in 20 rares (Using BLSK)… I decided to never salvage again and sell all my rares…. kitten rng.
Any part with tribulation clouds they are ruthless… especially the part with the puzzle moving the countless block in W2Z2.
She will be doing tribulation mode by the time she is 5 no problem!
Plague stomp, hooooo.
Except if you muck the timing up you just wasted you elite(maybe) or leave yourself vulnerable as you didn’t hit Plague quick enough and now stomping unprotected where others wouldn’t have this problem.
I do love some Plague stomping myself I had 5 people try attacking me one time that I remember they were confused as hell how I stomped the guy, but not everyone can do this.
Why must necros alone have to jump through hoops to do a stomp that is certain? No other class except maybe thief (they have stealth but they could still be interrupted) has to.
Everyone has it easy mode except us Necros.
With the new WvW patch we will see point gains from stomping an enemy… if you look at all other professions we have the hardest time and jumping through hoops to do a 100% success stomp.

Mesmer : Distortion / Stealth
Thief : Stealth
Guardian : Multiple ways to get Stability/invul
Warrior : Multiple ways to get Stability
Ranger : Rampage As One elite (20 sec stability)
This leaves me to my point… Necro you have to spec 30 points into stability for death shroud and not a lot of people like to go that far in that line. Also you need to do a tricky timed 2 button tap (press stomp and DS close together to do a stability stomp). Necros can also do the same in lich/plague… but it’s the same jumping through hoops that no other classes needs to do. Maybe a fix is that you can finish in DS/elites?
What do others think?
I roam WvW on my necro a lot. I have some good days and bad days. The bad days are when I could make a 2 hour montage of me just failing stomps (oh so many lost kills, kitten you downed state!). No other class has the pain of stomping that Necros have
Yeah I would want greatsword or hammer for a 2 handed cleaving type of weapon. Necro lacks this really and I think it would work well if it was a up close styled gameplay. Battlemage maybe power build with a LF drain or even lifesteal.
Was a bit bored and this is how I would think a GS could have it’s skills for Necro.
Skill 1 – Auto Attack, 3 strike attack, 3rd attack does a life steal. This attack cleaves.
[Vile Touch] – Slash your for
[Shadow Strike] Strike your foes with this attack. Gain 2-4% Lifeforce on this attack.
[Lifebane Strike] – Strike your foe and heal 60-100 per attack (or per enemy? OP? cap = 5)
Skill 2 – [Barbs] Some range attack that would cripple maybe?
Skill 3 – [Bitter Chill] A Dash/jump forward with an attack and chill target or area (ranger/warrior inspired) (Negative side would mean you NEED to take this weapon in a way for pvp maybe?)
Skill 4 – [Mark of Subversion] For 3 seconds you become invulnerable, you will lifesteal for a certain amount when enemies hit you or gain lifeforce.
Skill 5 – [Reaping of Dhuum] Spin around for 4-5 seconds dealing some damage and taking 1 boon from enemies and 1 condition from allies in the area to yourself each second.
Some of these could be OP but it is just ideas i quickly came up.
If I could choose a new weapon for the skills above also (/offtopic in a way :p) I would want a scythe or warscythe/polearm if want to say that a scythe isn’t used for fighting.
Edit – @Seras If they don’t have any thought of bringing scythes as a main weapon to GW2 this would be perfect… I would love a Scythe (my favourite weapon) on a necro even if it was a summoned weapon.

Coming from a Necro that is tired of random crappy damage dots from other players in my group taking my DPS has to stop… but as we all know nothing will happen. If me and 4 of my condi spec necro friends wanted to do a dungeon we can’t really (well we could but you might as well solo the dungeon then as same dps).
I understand that the more time we cry about condition caps the more ANet know we want it gone. Though there is no point even talking about it now… we have for a whole bloody year and nothing has happened about it.
Edit – Maybe a quick fix is that direct damage can be capped? like 5k-10k a second? If you do that damage goes over the cap in that second you don’t get the damage and get a ‘mitigated’ message come up.
That would put DD back into place with Condi.
