I’m not proud of it, but I’ve listened to that song 3 times in a row now. That’s like the mesmer battle cry. Fabulous.
To all non mesmers: We don’t actually mean to hurt anyone. The amount of love we emit is just too much for some to handle, and that sometimes leads to unfortunate deaths.

I don’t understand what people are trying to accomplish with these threads.
JP is in WvW. WvW is a PvP -zone. People like to kill each other in PvP -zones.

I leveled thief to around 60 in WvW and deleted it. It’s just stupidly overpowered profession for WvW.
Insane survivability with sick damage, I don’t see how that’s balanced at all.
Against a good thief you have to play pretty much flawlessly to survive, and thieves can just screw up and get away with it. It’s actually kinda amusing.
-The self knockdown removed from rocket boots.
-Gadget cooldowns lowered a bit.
-Slick shoes toolbelt skill changed to leap, where the engi would slide like 1000+ units forward, like a boss.
-Speedy kits changed to grant 5s swiftness every 5 seconds while in any kit. Then a bug along with this that prevents swiftness from Speedy Kits to gain bonus boon duration from runes/traits.
What I expect? In addition to what was mentioned in SoTG, few bug fixes and probably couple small nerfs.
The raging outsider is right, PU is disgusting atm. I don’t think there’s any other trait in the game that is as overpowered as PU. Not only does it double your stealth uptime and stack you with boons, it also makes it a lot harder to counterplay the burst.
Revert it back to +1 second and it would still be perfectly viable grandmaster trait. Maybe put a super speed or something on it.

I threw an idea somewhere here of having different colored dots for clones and phantasms on your “clone bar”.
If that’s what you mean, then I agree. Would be good QoL change.
Any build that beats you I guess.
From all the servers I’ve fought, AM is the worst. They are just no fun at all. Terrible players and big blobs.
Too bad UW doesn’t have numbers to make this match fun.
It’s not the only way to go. Mesmers have been good roamers since the start of GW2, without the new PU.
And there are definitely more than 4 builds in the game that can roam. You don’t have to be unkillable to do that.

I think it depends on will the overall damage in the game go up, down or stay the same. Lower TTK (time to kill) generally favors classes that get the first hit and/or have good ways to avoid damage.
New Confounding Suggestions and the blind on shatter trait are gonna be huge help against thieves. Chaos will also be more accessible which helps against D/D a lot.
I’m not a fan of modified ammunition on condi builds, as your direct damage is really low. You could drop 10 from firearms and grab HGH instead!

Revealed applying every time you leave stealth and PU split into two traits or tuned down a bit would make stealth perfectly fine IMO.
I usually use continuum just before my Signet heal to get an extra izerker out.
You should use CS right after signet heal.
iZerker -> Signet of the Ether -> CS right after the heal completes and before the CD starts counting -> iZerker -> Whatever you have time for -> CShift -> iZerker
With Chronophantasma you have 3 zerkers out and your signet heal ready. Also gives more time to do stuff in CSplit.
You can do double Ether Feast that way too or get a free shatter recharge with Signet of Illusions.

We also don’t have a heal which would properly benefit from Glamour traits so I don’t see this happening either.
Chronomancer could have a Glamour heal.
A healing field that we drop on the ground would make a lot of sense if it’s a defensive/supporty spec, which seems likely.
How about reverse-confusion field that will heal allies on action instead of damaging.
Or a swarm of butterflies that would bounce on allies, healing, granting a random defensive boon and restyling their outfit.
Or immobile phantasm that slowly breaks into butterflies, healing nearby allies.

I might be naive, but I believe The Pledge will be fixed in the patch.
Don’t know about others, but even when I do have chaos armor up, I don’t want to get hit. It just makes hits a bit less painful.
From roamer’s perspective, overall [EXG] is one of the best and classiest guilds in Deso. Really enjoyed fights with them, the odd teabagging aside.
Deso does have lots of really good roamers, but because they’re so high population server, fights often escalate into 1v3+.
Next match will prolly be the worst one of the season for us, because we’re against 2 german servers. Blobbadon is the worst server ever, but I hope MS will give some good action.

WvW in GW2 is so flawed it’s infuriating. Frustrating because it could be good, heck it could be great, but they just don’t get it.

The devs are probably reading the mesmer forums now a bit more than usual, so I though it would be good idea to strike with a Quality of Life wishlist.
What comes into my mind is:
-Different colored dots for clones and phantasms on the “clone bar” next to the shatter skills.
-Mantras recharging passively out of combat. One thing I find really annoying is when you get out of fight with one charge remaining and you have to either waste that last charge(and wait for full CD) or swap the mantra out and back to recharge it.
-Range indicator and possibly a timer for Portal Exeunt.

no every mesmer (almost) play pu cause the meta players start to play it cause of the huge burst every class got so pu become a must and suddenly it become OK to play power puis it more effective – yes and no as you may stay alive longer but your dps get lower the more you abuse stealth.
is it more ennoying – yes
does other build perform better – yes
does pu trait needed – yes and no
People play PU because of the impact it has on your defense and offense. And before you had to invest heavily to get PU, now it’s only 1/3 of your trait points, and as IP is baseline shatter mesmers don’t have to spend points in illusions.
To my knowledge this bug has been in game from the release, and probably been reported many times.
So, Phantasmal Haste -trait increases the attack speed of every other phantasm except Phantasmal Swordsman, it isn’t affected by this trait at all.
Come on, wouldn’t it be time to fix this already?
I really like the new maps, although they were a bit confusing at first, especially the third map. I was a bit annoyed that I can’t do the new content with the elite spec unlocked, but it’s not that bad and the progression is pretty smooth, IMO. Makes finding a hero point so much more rewarding too.
Being an open world PvP junkie, I spend pretty much all of my time in WvW. Think I’ve only done one chapter of the living story. But since HoT I’ve been doing almost nothing but PvE. Although I don’t really need any more HPs on my Chrono and I could easily get them in WvW, the kitten hero points have become like an obsession to me. I just have to find them!
I think people who are complaining about grind don’t enjoy the journey. If everything was handed to you the instant you hop into the new map, after a week the forums would be filled with “There’s nothing to do in HoT! I’m bored!” -threads. Comparing to other themepark MMOs, there’s no grind in HoT.

I’ve also wondered the same thing.
Pro-tip: Open with a clone like Mirror Blade and not Berseker Phantasm, the burst is slower but you won’t overide your first phantasm with your third.
Example- Mirror Blade clone > Phantasm Zerker clone> duelist clone> zerker clone (you overide clone with zerker)
New illusions always override clones until you have 3 phantasms.
½ second block during the animation on iRiposte and Counter Blade to work like necro’s scepter #1, but instead of the blood spill on the target there would be a small butterfly explosion.
One can dream.
I haven’t seen too many builds here that focus on CI, so dunno what blutsteins problem is.
Especially when his build is clone spamming condi build with perplexity.
IMAGINED BURDEN Probably pretty bad in sPvP, but a fine trait for solo/smallscale WvW. The constant cripple is golden, high might stacks and coupled with Illusionist’s Celerity makes you a mirror blade machine gun.
I don’t get Bountiful Disillusionment. But if interrupt/lockdown Daredevil will be a thing in HoT, BD might become my favourite trait.

If you have a focus party, then go for max single target damage with few disengages and focus enemy backliners while flanking. Leave the AoE stuff to classes that do it well.
Thieves whine 24/7. If Anet actually listened them, they would be perma stealthed, perma evading one shotting demigods.
PU does need some tweaking, but I doubt it’ll happen anytime soon, if ever. Hope I’m wrong.
Anyone ever wonder why 90% of complaints about PU always come from thieves?
The answer is that PU allows mesmers to compete with thieves, both in a direct contest and for a similar role on a team. Previously, thieves had no competition for roaming ganker/backcapper. Now they do, and apparently it stings.
I think about 90% of all complaints across these forums is by thieves.
DE. IP feels essential only if you’ve played nothing but shatter.
You know it’s a fail balance patch when nothing is done about this.
Try engineer and see yourself.
I agree old rune sets could use some love. But bringing perplexity runes closer to other runes is a lot safer, than buffing other rune sets to their level and introducing a balance disaster.
Build diversity is a good thing, but it shouldn’t come with the cost of balance.
There will be some sweet new builds for mesmer. I’m personally excited about Lockdown shatter, lockdown+PU and PU+MtD hybrid/condi for WvW.
But I’m a bit nervous about all the hellish thief builds that will arise to feast on us. I hope Anet won’t screw up the new stats from gear, since thieves will have access to quite a few +dmg traits.
Will be interesting to see what they do with Domination -line. There’s so many good traits.
I guess they will drop one adept major to minor and get rid of Illusion of Vulnerability.
Oh well, should have guessed someone would come with those two comments.

I’m looking forward to hybrid shatter in HoT. The condi buffs to mesmer are looking pretty good atm.
For me it’s gonna be MtD with GS + whatever. Depending on celestial nerf, I’ll use mostly cele or sinister.
Every single person that cries here about those stacks got his kitten handled to him by a stacked up roamer(s) while running through open area trying to reach his blob. Serves you right, zerglets.
This post lacks logic so badly. It’s mostly roamers that find these buffs stupid because they make 1v1/small scale fights unbalanced.

It’s not a frikin PU build if it doesn’t have Prismatic Understanding.
They ride a bandwagon.
Dueling already has mantras, so if manipulations would be merged they would likely be in chaos.
Elixir H is decent, but the other professions have so much better options. Shelter, for instance, blocks you while healing.
Shelter also has a longer cooldown, heals for less, and scales worse with Healing Power than Elixir H does. It also cannot be traited to remove boons on enemies (tossed) or conditions on yourself/allies.
As much as I love my Guardian, their healing skills are garbage compared to what Engineers have. You have to put ten points into Radiance just so that Signet of Resolve doesn’t have a forty second cooldown.
We don’t have signets.

You are the one complaining about how much better other classes apparently have it. Not me.
You complain about how bad Signet of Resolve is for the Guardian.
Engineers don’t have signets at all.

Most signets are pretty awful, and I’m happy that engineers don’t have em.
I’ll throw my opinion here too.
What I like:
-As engineer I like the radius increase on some bombs and mines and Toss Elixir S losing it’s RNG.
-New damage floaters are pretty cool.
-Bloodlust buff being tuned down.(I want the stat buff gone completely, but this is a good start)
What I don’t like:
-It’s not a frikin’ balance patch when the profession changes are mostly tooltip/bug fixes, instead of tweaking skills and traits!
Overall, I’m not disappointed about what we got, but what we didn’t get. After seeing the preview my expectations were pretty low, but I was still disappointed.
It feels like forever since we got the last balance patch, and this one is a joke compared to that. A cruel joke.
I don’t know if the devs think balance is fine atm, are they afraid to make changes, or they simply don’t know what do.
Oh, and speaking of not knowing what to do. Mesmer’s scepter. I think Karl or the other dude actually said in yesterday’s stream that they don’t really know what to do with it. Scepter #2 and #3 are both really good skills, both being the better ones on mesmer’s weapons, while scepter autoattack actually is lacking. So instead of coming up with some condition based changes to S#1, they improved S #2 and #3. And in a very cheap way(CD reduction).
Anyways, I don’t consider this a balance patch at all. More like quality of life/bug fix patch.
I feel kinda bad about it, but I’m more excited about lockdown/interrupt Daredevil than Mesmer/Chrono in HoT.
Just imagine a Daredevil with S/P, Acro/Trickery/DD. Each interrupt will do about backstabs worth of damage, and they have loads of them.
