Power vs condition damage, after 5 months.

Bad warriors are bad, and warrior vs. necro certainly favors the necro; but it is hardly a landslide if they know what they are doing.

True for all cases. Else you should be getting a serious nerf stick
I’d be skeptical thou that a lot of DPS warriors will sacrifice the very dps to have extensive condi removal. So yes. You are likely to either fight a condi removal tank. A glass cannon dps or a hubrid that does a little bit of everything. Not high burst dps with lots of condi removal, so have a plan for each encounter, but don’t expect one player to do it all. For example you have 3 chills on ya if you have staff/focus. Any dps with one clean will wipe that as fast as he can even before you put bleeds on him. Or he can spend most of his time at -66% everything. You now have a semi condi removal less guy to “start” a fight with.

Also scepter is nothing to sneeze at. You can maintain a constant 10 bleed stack with it, through crits, and bleed duration extenders. It’s burst condi builds that are “better” that suffer from “ahh crap he just cleaned”

I’ve seen this time and time again… Oh no. Conditions too easy to remove… Etc etc.
Yes all classes have wipe condi clean skills. Some builds allow them to clean condis often.
That sucks for a ranger. If someone steps on 3 traps and then instantly cleans everything that sucks pretty hard.
For a necro that’s a laugh. Oh no. You cleaned up my bleed stack. What am I going to do? Oh yes. I’ll just keep auto attacking you with my scepter faster than you can possibly clean bleeds if you go full shout and put runes that clean conditions. You might also be running a sigil of on crit condi removal but then you are probably not dps and then what do I care. I’m a necro. I have large health pool and death shroud. We’ll be here a while.

Your strength is not in spiking people with massive bleed stacks. Your strength in constant application of “high enough” quantity of bleeds. Eventually they will blow their condi removal skills and you’re ready to laugh.

Asura Race Advantage?

And at longer ranges you don’t even get name tags so you can stand behind that tiny rock and scout.

ALL races can do that.. /sigh

But Asuras can use smaller rocks

Asura Race Advantage?

I have many characters, ranging from the beefiest tallest Norn, to the tiniest Asura.
In my playing Asura have a definitive advantage based purely on human perception. We persieve bigger things as more dangerous. When I flank with my Norn I immediately cause the zerg to attempt to retarget.
When my Asura necro flanks i’m able to get inside the zerg. Pop my wells and plague form, before enough people start playing attention and just letting their autotarget do the targeting for them.
Does targeting favour one race or the other? Probably not. It plain sucks on every race.
Does human perception favour Asura? yup! And at longer ranges you don’t even get name tags so you can stand behind that tiny rock and scout.

Is recoloring enemy armor necessary in WvW?

Indeed, we’re not fighting for a faction with a uniform, which makes it tough.

Not that I’m very pro uniforms but here we fight in the mists in the representation of “guild wars” of the past. It’s not inconceivable that we could look like uniformed soldiers we fought. Mists allow you to deus ex machina anything into the game, as a fractal Mr.Manhattan aptly demonstrated.

Actually Splitrr you can’t get exotic weapons that ares Power/Toughness/Vitality with badges or karma. You can only get them in dungeons or for gold. Why they didn’t make token set for every stat combination is a little beyond me. I think they consider wvwvw a chunk of pve and so they think pure wvwvwers don’t exist.

So awesome. This is an official confirmation that GW2 has broken the Turing test. Here i thought I was fighting “players” all these weeks, but turns out it was still AI mobs just like PvE. Amazing AI! No wonder those thieves didn’t need any nerfs beside one skill that isn’t even flavour of the month.

Can we agree on the mesmer portal issue?

Why do people whine so much about easily counterable tactic? I tried to mes portal into keep several times in one day last week. Twice succesful. After attempt #3 i never succeeded again because they learned to sweep. End of story.
Bunch of ops against issues don’t concern portal at all even. Soloing orbs? If i’m a warrior and I hide in a keep I can still leave with the orb, i just can’t bring my friends in.

Spies, Commander Badges and You

Ninja teams of 5-6 people, do not announce their intent until it’s too late for attackers to react, nor do they spend a lot of time running with com badges on. Following enemy zerg is easy enough. I play on really bad WvWvW server and we still get regular updates on where enemy zerg is and its size from anyone with a /team chat and a pair of eyes.
The only problem is sabotage (like burning tower and keep supply), so I personally don’t see this as a big issue.

Actually one the face of it Outmanned buff does make sense. When my tiny guild forms a raiding party to hit things we can (camps, flags, dyols, lakes) we look for outmanned buff. Why? Cause if you are smart this is low risk/ high profit activity and outmanned makes it even more profit. Huge problem is that you need to know that it is huge profit.

New players login. Run out. Die. Repeat. Especially if eternal is full (and it’s always full first) and you choose and opposing team area. You see your armour repair bill and you say I can’t afford to play this. Back to PvE! Now many hours later I understand that I was wrong, but for many low pop servers like mine, it’s an issue that the learning curve is so steep in terms of cost. I did it cause I wanted to see what monthly was. It sucked. Now it’s all I do. If we are to keep armour repair cost, as we should, at least maybe have a 5-10 hour grace period for new players.

One other thing I didn’t see you address:
Reward structure is very poor. It favours offense at expense of defence. I know everyone talks about points, but that’s an overreaching goal that’s probably too far removed from an average player. Every soldier wants to win the war, but in an individual battle the goals are rather different. So in our case it’s xp/karma/money/fun per minute in the battle, while hoping you are contributing to the winning side.

So out reward system gives us points only for taking stuff. When everything been secured your rewards stop. Defence usually gives you nothing or very little? Why?

Because you often don’t kill anything. You can hold the gate long enough for them to give up. You can down them enough times without anyone dying and they will back off. Or you could be holding out for the zerg to get there (best option as you will get that one kill to get the bronze at least).

Best option for everyone involved is to pve by first team capping empty towers and camp and moving on and defence recapping 5 minutes later. Everyone gets tons of xp/karma/money and maybe less fun but that’s 3 out of 4.

Now things like keep upgrading and defence are not profitable and are not rewarded at all. You have to do it out of your altruism or some grander desire to give your PvEer some buff or just to have better score. All fine and good but if you gave more incentive for upgrading the keep (you payed money you get a trickle of karma or money or xp so that if the keep staying on your side long enough you get your investment with interest) and incentivise defence by giving constant xp or karma or money trickle so that if i’m sitting on a balista in the middle of the camp for 3 hours and no one wants to take it in the first place I get nothing. Give it a thought. Reward defensive play. Just make sure to reward it in a way that will make people afk in every keep and camp, but to actually be ready and defend (like some damage threshold on enemies to actually cap your reward)

Balancing Orbs in WvW

in WvW

NullMad.4370

I imagine the reasoning for Orbs is that the more you have the more thinly spread you have to be to defend your lands so bonus makes sense.
But in reality both sides have the same queue limits so they muster same number of players. Orbs are in different zones and so if all queues are full you can defend all equally well but now with a bonus.
And at least on my server people attack in one or two zergs instead of nibbling in smaller groups on all assets of the enemy, so the fact that they would have to spread thin to defend is irrelevant, they have to hold 1-2 locations and now they got a massive bonus.
Now whether we need a patch to fix poor tactics on side of players is a different question.

WvWvW - Fun for the short term, not the long term.

When you dominating why do people still login? There is nothing to cap and as you say no-one to kill, since other sides are outmanned? So what exactly is the point? Convenient crafting station location?
On a server that is getting pounded raiding with outmanned buff is ridiculously profitable and the whole world if your oyster, you can hit anything you want when you want.
We capped a tower in Mag borderland with my tiny guild today cause they were busy hunting our micro zerg on other side of the map. Mag has 3 orbs and totally owns by now. Question is, what do their players do for fun, babysit their holdings for hours having a dance off?

Why you get damaged when you die in WvW?

I too, once thought that Armour repair costs were ridiculous.
Now we actively hunt down maps with outmaned buff. Group up in teams of 3+ but not a huge zerg and go farm Dyols/Flags/Supply. Hit them unpredictably and run like the wind at first sign of more than a solitary attacker. Enjoy a lot of loot, tons of XP and Karma. You’re welcome.
You may get run over by a mob once or twice in an hour but 2 dyols give you about 1.3 silver at 80. Flag gives you 1.5 and camp ~3. Plus with outmanned you get some drops from nearly everything you kill.
If you log and map is your colour and you have 3 orbs and are winning by 100k points it’s time to go do PVE. You got nowhere to go but down.
