2. Award individual’s for participation in WvW beyond a billion bags that create a grind in and of themselves to open and store (often running out of space!) it takes away from the action with all the clicking and clicking and clicking and… (mouse button needs repair)
*perhaps a track toward something REALLY attractive such as an ascended item

A lot of dudes would grind a reward track which took 2-3 weeks of active gameplay for an ascended chest. (with no rewards in between — their progress % is the reward)

Linking Jade Quarry or Sea of Sorrows with Maguuma solves multiple issues. Right now SoS is imploding from being matched (farmed) by Maguuma in Tier 3 and their highest populations are in completely different timezones. Tier 1 players are quitting due to being matched up against Yaks bend. Get Maguuma up there in Tier 1 hosted with an OCX/SEA-majority server. SoS/SBI won’t feel like offing themselves being matched against Mag, Tier 2 will be happy with FA vs YB (both play similarly), and Tier 1 will finally be a fights tier. Everyone wins in this scenario.

Nerfing downstate health is a good way to increase skill-over-numbers. Start a downstate at say 25% health; something of that nature.

Tier 1 has always been a quarantine zone for terrible players that need to blob with said blobs hugging siege near objectives. Blackgate has more players to do this lowest-common-denominator ‘winning’ scenario. This is just the inevitable outcome of transferring to servers with the prevalent mission of quantity over quality. The quantity goes to the biggest server. The real solution is to not care about winning PPT such as others have figured out 2-3 years ago in Tier 2. Back then servers purposely tied each other then just fought in an open field with relatively even numbers all night. Easy net solution would be to increase PPK and punishing bandwagoning to the next blob-over-skill server (typically will be Blackgate) by swapping guest servers.

I mean the game is called “Guild Wars,” so why not promote people to run in guilds in WvW, since you do it in PvE….And I don’t mean like kittenty WvW guild missions that only need like 10 people or less….maybe double that….like 20 ppl or the = to what it is in PvE.

Anet gave us an arena in Obsidium Sanctum and another in guild halls (arguable w/ some). The promotion of running in a guild in WvW is being able to win more fights through organization. Though, a guild mission based on killing players wouldn’t be that bad of an idea. Promotes guilds to do organized fights, which are the best thing about wvwvw, and would make those fights a little bit more competitive.

Combine Maguuma and Jade Quarry.

Maguuma has a high population in EU/NA timezone while JQ has a high population of OCX/SEA. This merger would make Tier 1 balanced. At the moment Tarnished Coast and Blackgate have no real competition regarding population. A reason for this merger is a lot of JQ players are jumping ship and are being auctioned for by servers. Merging with Maguuma they can stay on JQ and be proud T1 server again without being treated as a item at a store for server leaders. We promise not be racist or dehumanize the JQers.

Both current guest servers can be merged separately on their own. Both servers are used to being lowly populated and maybe Darkhaven won’t be dead last for a week. Wins all around

Prime Time would be universal per datacenter. For example, all worlds in NA would have the same 6 hour period (of highest activity) as their Prime Time hours. All EU woulds would have a different 6 hour range for their Prime Time.

Firstly, congratulations on being the best communicating developer the WvW forums has ever had. Your OP is exactly what everyone has been asking for in terms of communication. Arenanet, give this man a pay rise

Second, this prime time being a static 6 hour window consistent across data centres would NOT work for Jade Quarry.

Our prime time is always during the South East Asian time zone but we are on a North American data centre.

Prime time must be dynamic based on current map populations.

We were running two full map zergs last night during SEA prime which is more than I can say for what we would be running during NA prime.

How do you solve this problem below:

If JQ runs two map zergs in SEA time zone and TC and FA can only field one then SEA is JQ’s prime.

If TC and FA run two during NA time zone and JQ runs one then that is TC’s and FA’s prime.

We can end up with three servers with different “prime times”.

We can’t be giving preferential treatment to a server just because NA is their prime and NA is most common prime time. Many NA servers actually have prime times that are during the EU, SEA or OCX windows.

We can’t have JQ being penalised on scoring just because TC and FA can’t field two map zergs during OUR prime without also punishing TCs and FAs scoring when JQ can’t manage to field two zergs during THEIR prime.

Well, this is more of a personal issue. If JQ players are hurt for NA servers having centralized NA prime-time then just transfer to other servers. Either way JQ is not doing so hot in PPT land. You are currently bordering on entering Tier 3. Your players will be transferring off whether or not these changes go through.

Yeap, a couple of groups can overcome the zerg!, That is why Tier 8 servers regularly rose up to beat the Tier 1 servers /rolls eyes. Lol, it never happened for a reason.

Winning the matchup and winning fights are different. During the TC/Mag matchup our kdr was at one point higher than theirs then only slightly lower at the end of the week. This was while outnumbered.

Three boons to look for in pvp are resistance, aegis, and stability. Resistance is noticeable by green triangles, and noticing aegis is more of a pre-fight thing with engage cc. However, stability is important to realize during fighting and is annoying to scan for through 6-7 similar looking boon icons stuttering left-and-right. Giving the icon a green color to notice with peripheral vision will make fights slightly more enjoyable, and the development process would take like 10 minutes at most

The 1/10th off-hour score idea is good in a multitude of ways. The NA players from the beginning of the unlock for the day until the end would feel like an event. The off-hour players can still be competitive fighting for upgraded territory and still getting points-per-kill. This also incentivizes NA and EU players to have accounts for both regions. One to play during NA primetime and another for EU’s primetime full-ppt events. This will also give a feeling of a larger population during the most populated hours.

So do you just not do math or something? PPT counts most when the number is at its highest point. During prime time, usually all 3 servers are very close in points unless 1 server just has more PPT oriented players or more players in general.

Generally, PPT in off hours from a server with a higher population of people who play the PPT wars is where a ton of that servers points come from. If you tick at 405ppt at 2am while your enemies have 145ppt each, that is likely your high point lol, which is unlikely to be during prime time..

The post was offering a solution to make prime time ppt count 10x instead. Meaning during primetime controlling as much territory as a 400 ppt would instead be a 40 ppt on off hours. Since the above two sentences may confuse you again, this is offering a potential change and not describing what is already in the game.

The nerf to night capping is going to kitten off alot of people who dont belong to NA. Alot of people are complaining about the night capping; the same can be said to people who dont play NA (NA is night capping them). WvW is suppose to be a 24/7 thing. If the nerf actually goes through its going to be really unfair for the international community.

The current state is unfair. At most 1% of the population making 33% of the warscore is ludicrous. Don’t get soft-hearted, a lot of these OCX PvDoorers have god complexes because of this.

Take a screenshot of your primetime. Where almost nobody is online and you can freely take towers/keeps.

Sorry, cata’ing a T3 garrison and PvEing the lord with 3-4 players isn’t what WvWvW is like for NA players. You guys doing that everyday wastes multiple hours put in by a majority of the populace. OCX timezone PPT needs a nerf bat

You lose fights (shown by kdr), bunker siege keeps (shown by ss), and have back-ppt’d (end of the spam). The only result of entering this thread is giving attention to your server’s faults and picking up a DR castaway. Nice job

Stick to singleplayer rpgs if you cant handle the game not turning off when its time for you to go to bed.

If I was a player in China I’d be laughing every day PvDooring 350+ ppt with no contest. Would upset the Americans who worked a lot to take/defend towers and keeps. Afterwards getting PM’d by almost every server leader with over 200g offers to come to their server. WvWvW as a Chinese player would be great

Exactly. WvW is a team sport, and seeking out teammates who can play while you cannot makes it fun.

See the example of NATO. They don’t reach as many countries as server leaders are expected to and have a higher population and more connections to do so. Even if this ball-fondling of Asian players was somehow realistic, them counting way more than NA players is ridiculous

People have responsibilities like a job, college, or school and go to bed around 10-12. Pandering to less than 1% of the population to grieve a majority of WvW players is nonsensical.

Scoring should be nerfed at off-hours relating to North American time as these are North American servers with at least 90% of the players being North American. Server leaders shouldnt be rolling over each other throwing gold at Asian players to makeup 33% of their scoring.

Typically at the professional level it is not needed because such sports are played on an even playing field where skill is somewhat normalized, which WvW is not.

I’m just curious of how different gamers / specifically Tiers think about spawn camping.

I personally think spawn camping separates casual play from competitive play. . So imo, it neither hurts nor helps the game, it’s just a different game mode.

ie – a tennis match ….in competition if a player can ace all the serves and shut out a match, its commendable and even sponsor worthy. In a casual game, if a player aces all the serves, it’s rude.

I have played WVW since early launch, and I have been through several tiers and servers and done my share of both.

Spawncamping is ABSOLUTELY harmful to the game mode and the whole game by reducing its population. Period.

I have seen it used against me and have used it several times as a legit strategy, but those are very few exceptions, vast majority of it comes from flawed game mechanics, lack of population balance and does absolutely nothing, except deprive WVW of even more players, even faster.

You can make all the excuses and spew all sorts of B S in the world and perhaps, somewhere out there, there are some people who are stupid enough to actually believe it.

But what it all comes down to is very plain and simple:

Spawncamping = even less people in WVW.

Survival of the fittest here. If we weren’t spawncamping SoS/DH would still be whining that they’re losing so badly. The real issue here is that players don’t like losing. Losers will quit a competitive game no matter what. Maguuma is better than DH/SoS in every possible way. Your players are quitting more every day. Losing has consequences, you’ll have to deal with that as a server.

SoS/DHs’ players arent just leaving the game, they’re just leaving your server. Yesterday I’ve seen at least three DH that I recognized from the spawntrap who are now on Maguuma. The best players are realizing which server is worthy. Soon we will be in Tier 2 with the most action in WvW in years throwing around TC. At that moment you can sit there and karma train on empty BLs.

Personally, I no longer really care about how you lot decide to get your fun out of this game. Like you say, I do my thing, you do yours. However, if you still have the ability to place yourself in others shoes, specially newer players, it shouldn’t be too hard to get what the problem is with what motivate some of you to play and the effect it might have on some players.

Beside, even if you do have the mental fortitude to deal with the bottom of the barrel of humanity it is pretty hard to “ignore” ppl ganking you for example. You might get use to it and just run back like I’m use to since a long time ago but there is no way this experience is fun for the victim or not disruptive for the gaming experience. And then there is getting killed because your opponent want to protect his objective, witch is perfectly legitimate and understandable, and getting killed because the opponent is trying to get a reaction out of you and hope he get forum material to show his fellow trolls. For ppl with even average empathy, this is hard to “ignore”.

I wont ever say only players on Mag behave like this. It would be a monumental joke to pretend such a thing. But at the same time, sadly, Mag seem to have a pretty huge amount of these gaming psychopaths. Having spent 2 years on Mag and 1 year+ on SoR, as well as on the opposite side of the mirror like this week and the previous one, really highlight just how much different the player community is in this regard. I refer to SoR because the contrast was extreme for me. Same game, very different ppl.

The bulk of players tend to play the puck/ball on most other servers while many on Mag aim for other players legs if you will. Yes, it work to get a win but you will have to deal with ppl reacting to you aiming for their leg. Like now…

Personally, what I don’t get from you guys is the discrepancy between what you say you want and like in this game and what you factually do more often than not. Many on the server pride themselves on fights, quality over quantity, not caring about PPT and not hiding behind acs. But when we look at how you play, you kill all fighting opportunities, make sure less and less ppl want to fight you, blob like crazy, PPT like their lives depend on it and engage in cheap tactics that demonstrate 0 skill whatsoever. I’m confused. And on top of it, too many are behaving like kittenty human beings that might have been kitten on in real life and use the game to kitten back on others when they log in. Even trying to have an honest chat with many feels like pulling teeth.

You say it’s just a game, but the ones I see taking it VERY seriously are mostly on your side…

I don’t have to have empathy for the situation DH is currently in as I’ve been in that situation personally. If I was tired of being spawn camped I left from a different exit. I know for a fact, though, that yes, there are people, on every server, that will record their WvW experiences and will not shy away from using that material to mock those who cry about getting killed by them. Yeah, yeah, Mag has a comparative advantage on mean players. Sure. If that’s true, as you believe, then I can hypothesize that DH must have a comparative advantage on unskilled players, or maybe masochists since they like getting farmed at their spawn so much.

I’m not really sure how your sports analogy works in this case, since there are rules in sports, and there aren’t really rules in WvW. It’s a sandbox player vs player game mode. There are no gear restrictions, and everything available to the player your fighting is available to you, including the strategies being used. If you’re getting trebbed in your spawn, well guess what, you can do the same to your opponent! You may have to break out of spawn first, but you can do it too. You may get hit below the waist sometimes, but you can do the same right back. Refusing to fight your opponents because you hold yourself to some sort of moral superiority, in a video game o all things, is just silly, and it’s an excuse. The worst excuses. “I’m better than you at being a human, so I shouldn’t have to deal with being killed near my spawn.” Yeah… ok.

You talk about this discrepancy between what you see Mag players do, and what we claim to want. Fun fact: Not every guild on Mag is a fight guild! I know, hard to believe, because the most outspoken Mag players are usually part of guilds that claim to be looking for fights. There are actually pugmanders and even some guilds on Mag that PPT! Weird, I know, that a server like Mag, filled with mean spirited folks, such as myself, has a more diverse WvW player community than you claim it does, but sorry, it does. I guess we “PPT like our lives depend on it,” if you consider defending an enemy keep PPT tryharding. I guess we could just let you take your keep back on EBG, and then let you siege it up, and then fight your zergs in treb fire all night, which is what happens when your guilds do come out to play. I’m not hating on you for that though, it makes sense. If we’re at your doorstep, it makes sense for you to fight there. It makes sense for us to fight there too, because we want those fights. If we happen to own your keep, and you’re only fighting at spawn, we’ll be there too. Deal with it.

And yes, we take it so seriously! So seriously that we come on a forum and label anyone who is beating us up at our spawn as psychopaths incapable of empathy. Oh wait, that’s you. That’s you being that over dramatic and serious. That’s what taking a game too serious is. You’re the one labeling others are morally deficient human beings, simply because they kill you outside of your spawn.

Regarding WvWvW:

Vigorous shouts – Removed adrenaline gain

Shouts do not give enough adrenaline to pop them for said adrenaline instead of timing for their effects. This should be buffed, not nerfed. The heal should be increased if anything. Otherwise every warrior will still be picking Phalanx Strength.

Quick breathing – Converts conditions into boons

Not to do with the trait but bring back max targets = 10. In WvW the counter to venom share bombs were warriors using warhorn 4 skill. Now you have to have a competent warrior in every single party-of-5. Let’s be real, not every group has organization and/or enough competent warriors to combat just one guy pressing 7-8-9-10 to force their guardians to pop Renewed Focus or die.

The skill requirement difference is absurd when warhorn skills were nerfed for warrior. Right now using warhorn instead of shield makes you individually much, much weaker. Warhorn needs to have enough use in a group to warrant people to use the off-hand. People only use this for personal condi removal, blast finishers, and keeping up swiftness out of fights. Warhorn is a death wish running solo or in an unskilled PUG group atm.

Merciless hammer – Hammer reach is increased and hammer skills are given special effects based on adrenaline level.

Resistant Concentration- Increase boon duration. Attempts to steal, rip, or corrupt your boons are reversed.

Good change. Just negating the boon strip is fine

… And people wonder why more people don’t get involved in World vs. World. The dead body jumping, the spawn camping, the spying, the people using other accounts to do nefarious things on their opposing servers, the server stacking…

It’s not just ArenaNet. You, the players have helped to turn this game mode into garbage. At least you can sit back as forum warriors and jump up and down at ArenaNet and give them the blame as you continue to do all of the cheese lame BS that makes new players want to never step foot in this game mode and old players move away from it to do something else or find a new game entirely.

Its being in a competitive environment. Don’t cry about this, please. Without restriction competitive things often boil down to BM, trash talk, and battle of egos.

2-3 hours? I can’t remember a single moment of your server fighting at any kind of disadvantage that would last more than a few minutes no matter where I was or was doing (zerg or roam). Like I said previously, I had 0 uninterrupted duel in all of last week and the interruptions always were from Mag. No matter where I would roam, the patrol intercepting me would not only always be many times bigger but also almost always engaging from stealth (not to mention siege burial, /sitting/jumping over my corpse after that exceptional display of skill ofc).

If no matter where you go and what you do you are at a severe disadvantage it pretty much explain why such a KDR is to be expected. It get worse if the other server stop caring about winning and dying when you spawn camp them all week. Just try it, and we will see how your KDR suddenly evolve… Explaining such a statistical difference with skill goes beyond ignorance. It’s delusional.

EDIT: I also will add that using your exceptional logical skills we were never more than 1 because my squad only had me in it therefore it is all the ppl that was ever in any fights where I was. See the problem?

Before this push Mag had a 1.68 average kdr playing casually in T4. There may not have ever been a time where Mag’s kdr has not been at least top 3 for both NA and EU servers.

Now the claim our kdr is high is because we sometimes have server blobs for 2-3 hours every night. Let’s compare two sides here when there are blobs on either server:

1) We controlled SMC. Very little siege. Had a 2nd account from DH wasting the supply from 1500 to 0. Inner was never breached.
2) DH desperately sieged the ever living YB of their keep so they wouldn’t be spawntrapped again. Under a hail of 6-7 AC’s, three shield generators, cannons, and against DH’s blob Maguuma eventually took the keep.

The only reason either of your servers even has ppt is due to Maguuma not being able to have groups in every BL 24/7. You’re essentially surviving sneaking ppt when Maguuma has other things to do.
