Peeling is more often used in AoS (Moba) style games where you have a definitive role for everyone based on the class (or character) that they are playing. The scenario would be where an enemy, or multiple enemies, focus on killing your teammate that is doing the most damage to them, or causing the biggest threat (ie: holding the point as a bunker, causing a lot of cc as a condi class, or doing a lot of damage, etc.). You would then want to either burst down those killing your ally, or use a lot of crowd control skills to effectively ‘peel’ them off of him so he can go back to being a threat instead of being dead.
I’ve considered making a Charr ele because of this thread (have too many Charr characters but oh well) and I couldn’t help but notice some pics have the Charr with cool effects, like a flaming tail and such. What exactly makes that happen?
The flame tail is from the CoF pants, and if they also have molten arms those are from the CoF chest piece.
Looks like you want to run more of a semi-gc build then (similar to what I run, works wonders, especially against unsuspecting gc thieves). If you want to run more offensive traits I suggest using Axe/Focus/Dagger traited for 30/0/0/10/30 with VI VIII and XII in spite, V in blood, and then III V XII in soul.
Reapers might will be good because your main form of auto-attacking with be ds 1; Axe training is nice because Axe 2 is your ranged burst (and also continues to hit thieves after they stealth if you start to channel when they are visible), and Axe 3 gives retaliation; Close to Death is really nice because the 20% extra damage applies to all of your damage sources; Vampiric precision is good because you will have a high critical rate, especially in ds, so being able to get health back constantly is really nice; Path of might is fun because everyone loves cd reduction, especially on ds 3, 4, and 5; Speed of Shadows can be swapped out with Unyielding Blast or Close to Death, I just like having 25% faster ms in combat to give me a little edge on melee classes; and finally Deathly Perception is great because 50% critical while in ds will bring you close to 100% chance, which means heavy hits that increase each time from might, possible vulnerability on them, and give you health back.
For utilities I run Consume Conditions as my heal (always good to use), Well of Suffering for close-proximity damage and application of vulnerability, Spectral Armor for a stun break that also gives protection, and a situational utility that normally switches between Blood is Power for might and a small bleed, Corrupt boon if I’m facing a boon stacker and I’m feeling lucky that it will actually work, and spectral Grab for pulling people off of walls, or grabbing people that are running away from me if I’m feeling even more lucky than using Corrupt Boon. Elite I mix it up between Lich Form and Flesh Golem depending on if I want knockdown for burst, or knockback + annoying minions + piercing shots from Lich Form. Hopefully sharing my thoughts and reasons behind a serker build helps you decide if you want to mix anything up or not depending on your play-style.
Edit: Axe Mastery can also be swapped out for Chill of Death if you find yourself using dagger, ds, or Lich form a lot more than the Axe, as the free chill/boon rip/damage when they hit 25% hp is also very nice.

easy fix to this switch ele 2and 3 skill done
I would support this. I’m fine with ele’s going through the door as a last ditch effort to get to safety, but that’s what it should be, a ‘last ditch effort’. Eles being able to mist form through the door to the keep similar to warriors vengencing through it is acceptable, but it would be better if it was the same skill # as the warriors, so you couldn’t immediately vapor as soon as you hit downed state, but would be able to possibly make it to safety if you lasted long enough.
That really depends on your play-style, do you want advice on a tanky build, or a berserker build? Maybe well focused? Possibly sustain to whittle an opponent while you laugh, or straight up burst damage to rofl-stomp people into the ground with a lopsided falcon punch?
I loved this patch for buffing my semi-gc necro. I used to do a good amount of damage in wvw/pve, but now it feels amazing
. That buff to axe and ds made zerk builds a lot more powerful, especially against gc thieves (the bane of most zerker builds because of who initiates first), because of their low armor/hp. I made a 30/0/0/10/30 build up a while ago that I’ve been using successfully in wvw/dungeons/pvp, and only had to tweak it a little for the patch. Has even better burst now
Welcome to Guild wars 2! Like Baz said, you should come join the Blackgate family
. Even if you choose a different server, feel free to add me and message me in-game or on the forums if you need help with something. Hope to see you in-game!
This is my bunker ele for spvp/tpvp that I’m still in the process of getting gear for
Wild Charrizard
Yes. Some of the blocks are weird though, like how you will see something like ‘akittened’ instead of the acronym for away from keyboard, because the filter doesn’t like those 3 letters being together in that order.
Taken from this wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infused_equipment
Upgrade a regular ascended ring in the Mystic Forge using 1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence, 3 Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence, and 5 Vials of Condensed Mists Essence.
Upgrade a regular ascended back item in the Mystic Forge using a Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence, 250 Globs of Ectoplasm and a Gift of Ascension.
In place of swear words or other blocked terms, the built in filter will replace them with the word ‘kitten’.
You could try out a Necro if you wanted. For 1v1s you could build axe/focus/dagger semi-glass cannon and do well, or you could do a terror build with scepter/dagger/saff which excels in 1v1 or zerging with the larger unblockable marks and 6 types of fear that does damage. You could also try your hand at a power build which you can do for a lot of damage while tanking or a lot of healing while tanking. Then if you want straight up hybrid scepter/dagger with axe/focus is really good for hybrids, you’re tanky and as a Necro can apply a lot of conditions with scepter/dagger then swap to axe/focus for more conditions and straight damage.
Though i guess if you don’t like Necros you could always build a BM bunker Ranger. They can do a lot of condition damage from their character while keeping massive regeneration on themselves and their pet, while the pet does a ton of physical damage from the constant crits if it isn’t kited. Bunker Rangers don’t bring that much to the table for zergs though, as a lot of their damage is through their pets which get dominated by aoes, and traps for condition if they run them, which are up close and personal to the zerg, where their regen can get stripped.
Thiefs are also really good at 1v1 and roaming, being able to either be built for lots of physical burst damage, or sustained condition survival to help them beat other classes because of their low base hp. Sadly Theifs don’t bring much to the table either in zergs other than mass stealth from shadow refuge (which is still really great for zergs), and the daggerstorm elite. They perform well in smaller groups though, because they can pick off targets while everyone is running around trying to kill eachother.
Ele is another class that’s good at roaming, but most eles that roam don’t rely much on conditions, other than burning for fire grab, and most of their damage is physical. dagger/dagger and scepter/dagger are really good for close range fights, and staff is excellent in zergs, but they don’t really mix well with each other (you’ll probably get rolled 1v1 as a staff ele against a 1v1 build, and d/d or s/d arn’t the best in zergs unless you’re in the fray with a lot of teamates, because once people see all the flashy effects, prepare to get focused).
Hope that helped at all. If you really want to find a profession that you think you’ll enjoy I suggest visiting the profession forums, as you’ll find a lot of builds and guides for different scenarios located there.
Edit: Forgot that a lot of bunker rangers also run longbow. Not sure how effective it is for 1v1s (probably good for engaging at range / if they are running), but in zergs it’s only partially effective. The high damage on the barrage aoe is really nice in a zerg, but if a guardian pops retaliate when you fire it, prepare to melt to a zergs worth of retaliation damage 8 times.

I think the wings are prefect as they are. There will be plenty of opportunities for new back pieces to be added that have the characteristics listed rather than ruining the existing back piece for people who like it the way it is.
Ruin is a pretty strong word there. People are just suggesting the implementations of options, one of which could be to keep it the way it is now. No one is saying they need a complete re-haul of the wings, they just want some more options to choose from.
So…..yeah this happened.
Apparently those wings are a random world drop. I’m still kinda miffed about the jade skins. I really want a weapon. I spent so many gems on rich dragon coffers with no luck but….this is kind of awesome.
Edit: Danikat beat me to it.

Considering they have been confirmed for dropping from random mobs in the world, I wonder if you can get them as one of the rares from the world boss chests. It would definitely make the wings more accessible to people that don’t have the time to farm 100k candy.
This is insane. But the other poster also added that they are selling for less than 60 gold at the moment. So what gives? Are people getting them from the rich coffers? I’m a little shocked that they are not priced around the jet packs or higher. Does that mean that the drop rate is low, but not that low? I’m just wondering.
On the dragon bash page here it says “This dragon wing back item is only available as a very rare drop in the Dragon Ball Arena and throughout Tyria during the celebration,” so I would assume that the ones on the tp were from people that got extremely lucky either with dragon ball, or open world farming. (I’m unsure if that means from the chests you get or just as straight drops from mobs)
World vs. World is where 3 servers fight each other in player vs. player combat in order to capture and hold supply camps, towers, keeps, and stonemist castle across 4 separate battlefields in order to gain points and buffs. PvE armor is used in WvW. SPv kitten tructured Player vs. Player, consisting of small 8v8 or 5v5 conquest matches of holding 3 points on a map, along with capturing a neutral orb on one of the maps. SPvP uses its own set of armors and stats to play. PvE is Player vs. Environment, where you fight the ai to gain gear and such, which you can use to fight in WvW. Both WvW and SPvP will scale you up to level 80, though in WvW you won’t have the same gear as everyone else if you are scaled up (ex: level 80 exotics).
One of the funny things is that if you lob straight up, the keg never comes back down
. Must be some sort of super strength potion in the mead from the bar brawl next door.
If you play a warrior you can trait ‘death from above’ (trait I in Strength) makes you take less falling damage while dealing damage to enemies and launching them when you land. Could use it to jump off of ledges and goomba stomp people that way.
I find plague form to be a pretty good supportive skill for running around in small groups in wvw. For some reason people get it in their head that no matter what build a necro is, once those marks are down and people see the cc train coming, all eyes turn on you. This is especially effective if your a tank (ptv) build, because when the enemy group is all trying to wail away at my 50k hp ~3k armor and damage reduction from plague form my teamates can wipe the floor with them.
dodger – dodging should be a part of your normal play, if it is not you should learn to use it as it is a vital skill to be used to doing correctly in any group content. unless you only take on normal trash mobs in open world all day you should be dodging some. Skill Pint chalenges and events are great places to do these if you do not want to do it with normal trash mobs. go run AC and kill Kholer (you will be done in one fight)
While I don’t have a problem with the dodging as a daily(as stated, it’s not that hard to get) I would argue that if you play as an archer or similar long range character, it isn’t a truly necessary skill. But still not that hard to get especially if you’re doing group events with a lot fo AOE attacks being sent your way. Dodging out of red circles isn’t hard to do at all
Dodging isn’t truly necessary on a ranged character? no wonder rangers die so easily to a necrotic grasp or an immobilize into close quarters, none of them ever learned how to dodge like the daily is trying to teach you to do.
I got gw2 just after Christmas, and since classes started today ( Jan. 8th) I kind of didn’t have much else to do other than play my necromancer and make some alts. Not any kind of record, but I got my necro up to 80 in like 4 days of semi-nolifing (probably like 10 hrs a day or so of actual playing, remember I didn’t have much else to do because most of my friends had already started classes again). Definitely the fastest I’ve gotten my first character to max level in an mmo, but was fun regardless. Now I just need to work on those 6 pieces of ascended gear for my build
woohoo for fractals on bad connection, where if you drop near the end you have to start all over.
A wild Logan Thackeray has appeared!
Dragon used growl. It’s super effective!
The wild Logan Thackeray has fled!
I think most of us are totally NOT INTERESTED in killing other players.
Are you freakin kidding me? You do realize this is an ONLINE game right?
what has the fact that it’s an online game got to do with it ??
Realy support your point here or just don’t bother to reply ty…
Look the simple fact is WvW is NOT part of the world so therefore should not be part of the 100% map completion..
And the PROOF that it is not part of the world is if you press ’’M’’ on your keyboard you DO NOT see the WvW maps show up in the WORLD MAP.
I enjoy both the PvE and the PvP portions of GW2, but correct me (nicely hopefully) if I’m wrong here. I know there are POIs in dungeons too, which, if you press “M” on your keyboard you can see the entrances (if your the right level or above, unless you have explored the area already), but you cannot see their maps on the world map. And unless the POIs in the dungeons don’t count towards world completion your statement doesn’t carry that much weight.
Cursed Shore is the best farming area to find them in, up in the NE corner near the entrance to the area has a pretty good concentration of them. However, in order for them to spawn, your server has to control the temple in Malchor’s Leap through a series of [group] events.
Hi, just found this build and I can’t wait to try it when I hit 80. The only question that I have being a noob is what armor you suggest with the build you put in the first post? The link doesn’t show me what armor you have on the build, and you suggested 5 types of gear (Sorrows Embrace/ Ascalonian Catacombs/ Invaders/ HotW gear). Which dungeon should I run for the armor set, or should I mix and match from each dungeon? Thx in advance for the answer.
