I find this really annoying tbh.
The easy solution would be for Anet to seperate the “Allow Skill Retargeting” into one checkbox for regular abilities and one for ground-targeted abilities.
I use “Instant Ground Targeting” and “Allow Skill Retargeting” without the Action Camera. Consequently whenever rotate my camera after starting to cast a ground targeted spell the area of effect gets placed at the wrong spot.
PS. You should perhaps change the title, cause this applies to all ground targeted abilities that are not instant.

Maybe I am overlooking something, but what is that Unused Upgrade Slot doing on The Ascension? Shouldn’t there be an Offensive or Defensive Infusion Slot instead?
Keep in mind that the buff also seems to get removed when you get downed.
If they just added tooltips to the usuable items a lot of the confusion could have been prevented
There is a bug with the telegraph of the cone attack of the Facet of Darkness. The telegraph points to behind the Facet instead of in front of the Facet.
The ‘obstructed’ bug is either a lag issue or a hitbox issue. I have it occassionally as well in PvP.
Tab-targetting and auto-targetting have always been bad in this game, I would not expect a fix for it ever
There is some weirdness when it comes to HP’s and WP’s in the revised Alpine Borderlands. You can complete all the HP’s still they just don’t show up on the (mini)map. Where you used to unlock all the WP’s in borderlands upon entering (albeit some are obviously contested since they’re hostile), you now only unlock the friendly WP’s upon entering.
In the case that you no longer have access to the toon that started the HoT story I would contact support though.
Thus, for all 3 Ascended back-pieces you will be doing the story a full 3 times on 3 different toons. Seems a nuisance but hell…totally attainable compared to past expensive ascended back pieces.
Shelling out 3x 105g is a bummer though :p
And apparantly this bug is still not fixed!
Taimi just stands there doing nothing!
I had her stuck today at that same spot as well. It’s the turn where the last turret is placed.
The pathing in this game is just a mess, god knows how many problems would be solved by having proper pathing.
btw, I think there is one problem in new matchmaking in the start of season because all are in the same division, so assume that all have the same pips, now the only factor is mmr (you are paired with team that have your mmr) against a team that don’t have your mmr (it maybe more or less).
in the first match is totally 50-50 pure random. if you lose…then you start to have a problem.
you are teamed with other 4 loser, against 5 winner or 4 looser, then here you have 25% to win….but if you lose?
you are teamed with 4 that lose 2 game in a row…against 2 win in a row or 1-1 or 0-2.
here you have 12.5% and if you lose again…a world of pain.
so actually is very easy to make streak win or lose, hopefully when player spread in all the divisions you can start to win again…maybe
they need to fix that your team are all near your mmr and enemy team can have totally different mmr (far more or less).yes may be you have 1 min q time….but is better than this.
^ THIS
Whoever thought that was a good idea to begin with /derpface
A trend I have been noticing as well since all the tinkering with matchmaking is that the 4XX – 500 matches have completely vanished, when those were the best matches!
Noone enjoys losing 200 – 500 or winning 500 -200, that is not an enjoyable gaming experience for either side.
Written from the perspective of a soloQ-er btw.
In episode 2 in the Fort Salma quest:
- The Arrow Cart is no longer in line of sight of your targets near the gate. Probably since the LOS requirements for AC’s have become more strict. Only thing you could do to progress the story was go and kill the mobs by hand.
In episode 5 in Hidden Arcana:
- The Facet of Darkness telegraph for its cone attack is bugged and points in the wrong direction. Not 100% sure, but I thought it 180 degrees rotated, in other words pointing to behind the Facet instead of in front of the Facet.
As of today the bug is still present.
Skipping the cutscene on my second attempt solved it for me, though this bug needs to be addressed asap.
LOL people commenting you should stop using the internet if you don’t want spoilers… how sensible. Maybe people just need to stop living if they don’t want spoilers too?
The Hero Point summons a random Mordrem champion. The achievement is awarded upon killing every possible spawn (Punisher, Sniper, Stalker) from the Nightthistle Bloom.
Out of the 9 elite specialization armor pieces that you get for completely unlocking the elite specialization only 2 can be salvaged.
CAN be salvaged:
Reaper’s Hood
Daredevil’s Scarf
CANNOT be salvaged:
Tempest’s Loop
Chronomancer’s Epaulets
Druid’s Shoulderguards
Scrapper’s Mask
Dragonhunter’s Gauntlet
Herald’s Shoulderplate
Berserker’s Helm
Albeit a minor issue, it would be nice if it could be fixed.
it was in WvW proper. and I have done some additional investigation on this. 2 days ago I roamed with a buddy for about an hour and we took 4 camps, a ton of dolys and a few sentries. later on he took a keep with some friends of ours. here are our results:
camp 1: 2 badges
camp 2: 0 badges
camp 3: 1 badge
camp 4: 0 badges
keep 1: 1 badgewe both got 10 badges from 1 daily and 20 from another daily.
these results just feel low to me. I am mostly a roamer — camps, dolys, sentries and towers. prior to HoT I remember being able to go into WvW for a few hours and be able to afford buying a weapon or piece of armor from the Wvw badge vendor. at least 100 badges in a few hours.
to make matters worse, we now need them for certain guild hall war room upgrades.
i know EotM badge drops were nerfed, but it feels like WvW proper drop rate was nerfed as well.
Yes, farming Badges is now a nightmare, the droprate is 0-2 for practically all objectives now (regular WvW and EotM). While most items you can buy cost in the hundreds of badges :S
Especially the fact that you rely on RNG to even get them to begin with (since it is like a 33% chance to get nothing) makes it extra sour.
Error 5:11:3:159:101 has been occuring not just in Diessa Plateau for me.
It started happening yesterday on November 4 somewhere in the afternoon (CET).
These 3 zones/instances have been problematic for me so far:
- Lion’s Arch
- Dreamer’s Terrace (The Grove home instance)
- Forest of Niflhel
Guesting seemed to solve it for me.
A part of the problem that noone mentioned is that ‘reading’ fights in this game is rather difficult with the over-the-top spell effects and what not. If it was easier to analyze ones’ mistakes the cry out in the forums would be a lot rarer, at least that is what I think.
Plenty of times in pvp I still think, “wtf just happened” and you get little to no time to analyze the situation since the match is still going on.
I have issues targeting individual players across the map and placing ground targeting skills. It could be that i’m just not used to it. I’ll give it another shot later.
As for regular camera function, I find it easier to use the improved Tab function and simply point click any target in a split second. I admit that I can’t instantly cast a ground target skill without first adjusting the ground target to where my mouse is… incredibly annoying.
What do you mean with ‘improved’ Tab function?
What slightly annoys me when pressing 1 to manually start auto-attacking it does not resume auto-attack when moving out of range and back into range again. Which happens all the time in pvp. Having to constantly aim with ranged attacks whereas having auto-aim with the regular camera puts you at quite a disadvantage when using action camera as well.
PS. Thanks for the tip, I also now bound Action Camera to Left-Alt.
So has anyone tried it yet in pvp and how did you like it?
For me it is a mixed bag really, but maybe my camera settings are just not optimal to use the action camera.:
- Targetting was rather cumbersome using the crosshair against fast moving targets
- Trouble staying on target when the target runs ‘through’ you the whole time, whereas without using the action camera (when using maximum camera distance) you could still just cast groundtargetting abilities ‘behind’ your own character
- It feels somewhat weird in downed state, sometimes when getting downed in a corner the camera got stuck in a weird angle
- The major plus side my own movement is much more fluid and responsive
Please share your thoughts below (and this is by no means meant as a rant).
It sounds more like graphics card trouble to me. Have you tried wiping your drivers and reinstalling them, cause it sounds like you’re having artifacts.
Worst case scenario would be dieing graphics card.
Action Camera mode locks your mouse cursor at its last known position (eventhough invisible), instead of making the mouse cursor ‘disappear’ completely.
I noticed some weird behaviour in downed state as well when using action camera, but I am not sure about the specifics.
In PVP, the mouse cursor does not (re)appear when the map selection window pops up before an unranked/ranked game starts.
I have completed the ‘Coztic Itzel Belongings’ hero challenge multiple times but have yet to receive credit – please fix!
The hero point got swapped with the Pact Ship Wreckage one in the October 27 patch, so it contributes to the ‘wrong’ point in the game.
Had the same problem with that Hero Point today.
This one of the points that swapped places with another hero point, since then it is uncomplettable (if that is a word).
Nevermind, now it all makes sense, the game still thinks it is the hero point at the other location, so that one is being shown as completed.
Can anyone confirm this?
Why bother starting a new topic when there are already 3 threads about it :S
Because I can. Anet gave me the power to make topics, so I will abuse it whenever I feel displeased. Also, everybody went offline so now I’m lonely ;(
Let me please you then in ways that comfort you
Why bother starting a new topic when there are already 3 threads about it :S
Clearly this is so noone can take advantage of the Call of the Mists buff
Welcome to the party xD
PS. The afk timeout does not work either, you get put back into the same finished game again.
(edited by Phobia.9651)
Got it today in Forest of Niflhel, 3 guys (including me) of the blue team had a Gw2.exe crash. By the time we got back the game was practically over.
I’ve found a workaround for the problem:
- Switch to Season 1 History Lesson.
- Complete the History Lesson.
- Go back to LW S2 and use “Replay this episode”, replaying it should remove the grey star. NEVER use “Continue story” or “Continue this episode” cause that keeps the episode in bugged mode.
I am not sure you can access Lornar’s Pass from LA, anymore. I tried the other day, and I could no longer find the portal.
Perhaps I missed it, though. Could you disclose the new location, please?
Thanks.
Near Cavern Waypoint in the east of LA.
OT: One of the Priory personal story steps has always had a false marker. The marker is somewhere near the Dredge cave in NE Lornar’s Pass while it should be at the stairs of the Priory headquarters.
The ones you get as a Birthday reward are a different item than the ones from AP Chests, eventhough they look the same. Sad but true.
I did some further investigation when doing the LW S2 on my 5th character.
I noticed that the problem starts occuring when you are on the last quest within a given episode. In the hero panel the game shows as if you’re on the first quest of that episode while you are actually on the last quest.
See my screenshot, the Hero panel shows that I am on “Party Politics” while I am actually on “The World Summit”.
I have no idea what the trigger is for this bug, but so far I have only had it occur on episodes 1, 3 and 4 (spread over various characters).
Great idea’s, I hope a dev will read this.
Right now, afaik Shelter is the only slot skill (over all 8 professions) not getting a spell type in the patch. Which strikes me as odd to say the least…
Can an Anet rep please move this thread to the Bugs section?
I am curious whether issue #3 is just a sunken hitbox problem. One of the places I often come across it is in Legacy of the Foefire at point B, when both me and my target are running around in the inner circle.
The Ascalon fractal is also known to have this problem with the ballista’s, in this case it is definitely a sunken hitbox bug. Same for a lot of the critters that give the “Obstructed” message. Fun fact it only happens on ranged attacks.
Just a quick update to add my own comments:
- Doing the episodes on the first character in chronological order gave no problems
- Doing it on the 2nd character in non-chronological order gave this bug on Episode 1, but replaying the episode fixed it
- Doing it on the 3rd character in non-chronological order gave this bug on Episode 3, but replaying it (either through Continue This Episode or Replay This Episode) does not fix it
Did your problems occur when playing the episodes in non-chronological order?
PS. Yes, this is surprisingly annoying.
This is on the forum already (in the link above). The devs are aware. Here’s the best thing in that thread above. Note the views on the left and the customizable options.
For some reason I didn’t find that post. Must have used a too narrow search query I guess :p
But yes, that mockup is just perfect!
The wallet is such a great feature yet for some unknown reason newer currencies like Geodes and Bandit Crests have not been added to them, while it would have made a lot of sense. It would be a lot more convenient that way.
Added a screenshot of the dialog with Sentinel Whiptail, which is miraculously camping his tower at Brandwatch Encampment while the dialog indicates that he is escorting his devourer.
NOTE from the Wiki:
If the devourer is brought to 0 health it will not be defeated. Instead, enemies will become neutral towards it, and it will stay knocked down. It can be healed to full health and once fully healed, it will stand up after Sentinel Whiptail is defeated and then revived, from then on the devourer will attack anything that Sentinel Whiptail attacks, but the event will no longer advance and enemies will no longer attack the devourer, preventing completion of the meta-event and acquisition of the related trait.
Though in this case, the devourer is standing still east of the lake, while Whiptail is back at his base.
It’s unfortunate that this hasn’t been addressed yet. If traits require specific events to unlock, then those events should get priority when addressing bugs. It’s also one of the more interesting event chains out there and I’d like to see more people do it for its own sake.
I am actually surprised that hardly everyone mentions the bug to begin with, or is everyone just buying traits?
Me personally I actually created a new toon just to check the whole trait unlocking system, I like it a lot. The major flaw is that a lot of the unlocks require a higher level than the level you would have that trait available. For instance, technically you have access to all adept major traits at level 36, while most of them cannot be unlocked at that level.
Still bugged on September 3, 2014.
This is quite frustrating, since it is required for a trait unlock.
The Siege Devourer is stuck east of the lake while the sentinel is back at Brandwatch Camp.
You know I see these people like this guy phobia who are amazed that a game could be bought for the sake of the story. Really bothers me, because throught my life I picked games that A: My friends would sort of pressure me to buy to play together for the sake of socializing / B: Games that made me really love the story, the lore, the plot, not everything has to be brought down to basics of the mechanics of the game etc… I believe games are a part of a fantasy, in this specific case I really love the gw2 story, reminds me so much of skyrim which I freaking love so much. And I do intended to continue long after the story has nothing else to explore, to put it simple: I like my games, as I like my books (enjoy the plot more, care less about the writers writing style)
You clearly misunderstood me, I simply meant that the personal story is not the best part of the game.
So yes I do LOVE stories and I’ve played plenty of singleplayer games for just that, Warcraft, Starcraft, Max Payne, Deus Ex, The Witcher, the Arkham series and the list goes on.
I first noticed the problem 9 days ago, just because you didn’t notice it for another 3 doesn’t mean that’s when it started. Also, the personal story is the whole reason I bought the game.
Nothing personal but:
1) A friend completed it less than 9 days ago.
2) You bought a MMO just for a mediocre personal story?
After 9 days of this not working I’ve decided to try and be more positive. So, at least we all have time to work on crafting and getting cool armor and stuff before finishing the personal story? Idk what other bright side there could be here.
Cough, it’s been 6 days not 9. But anyways as the white knight stated, there are other things to venture into, it is not like personal story is the only way to spend your time in the game. Try some PvP, WvW, dungeons, fractals, living story, world completion, world bosses, guild missions, etc. in the meantime.
Though I am baffled how this bug suddenly occurred, it is the 6th time I am doing the Ossuary (A Grisly Shipment is pretty boring in comparison so I did it only once) and it never happened before. Minus getting owned by the Champ Abomination before he got nerfed. Is there a link between this and the recent DDoS attacks?
Kris and Corgi there is already a thread up with 60+ replies about this. Ossuary of Unquiet Dead is bugged since Tuesday or Wednesday.
After doing the first Seal, Trahearne goes into completion-mode and the progress stops. If you talk to Trahearne he even tells you that you are done.
To add something more to this thread, I do not know if more people experienced this, but besides the gamebreaking bug there is also a minor bug as well.
While on the Gather additional Pact soldiers along the way step player damage is scaled down to extreme low levels (less than 10% of what you would normally do). Once you reach the Enter the temple of Lyssa step your damage is scaled to normal proportions again. See the image for yourselves.
The inconsistency never made any sense to me, if it was Anet’s way of controlling the ingame economy it was a poor move to begin with.
Spool of Silk Weaving Thread:
100 Bolt of Silk (300 Scraps)
1 Glob of Ectoplasm
25 Spool of Gossamer Thread
Lump of Mithrillium:
50 Mithril Ingot (100 Ore)
1 Glob of Ectoplasm
10 Thermocatalytic Reagent
Glob of Elder Spirit Residue:
50 Elder Wood Plank (150 Logs)
1 Glob of Ectoplasm
10 Thermocatalytic Reagent
Spool of Thick Elonian Cord:
50 Cured Thick Leather Square (150 Sections)
1 Glob of Ectoplasm
10 Thermocatalytic Reagent
Makes sense, no?
On another note, please merge the sections Ectoplasm Refinement, Obsidian Refinement, the Vision Crystals and the ascended items in Refinement into Ascended Refinement.
1) Well I am pretty sure that it is a bug that some recipes only require 1 Boot/Shoe Sole, probably overlooked by the devs.
2) Well I was talking about the inconsistency between armor crafting and weapon crafting when using non-crafted Insignias/Inscriptions (Sentinel, Settler, Magi, Shaman, Soldier, etc.). For armor crafting no additional Globs are needed while for weapon crafting 5 additional Globs are needed.
3) Another one to mention is the Spool of Silk Weaving Thread (100 mats, 1 glob, 25 thread), why does it have to differ so much from the other 3 ectoplasm refinements (50 mats, 1 glob, 10 reagent), driving the Silk prices up needlessly?
