Hmm is it gradual increase in power you’re after?, it begs the question though, to what end? This game seems to favor people being relatively even at top end.
I personally feel it’s up to me to find fun with the game presented before me; craft, explore, RP (shut-up), look for secrets, 100% complete everything.. If I get bored I’ll simply do something else.
I’m sorry that your personal goals were already so quickly achieved. I’m not sure what to offer you. (not being sarcastic) Maybe see what they push out in a few months.
Playing baseball, I miss golf.
I don’t think the diminishing returns was a good idea. Frankly it just seems lazy. Much like my comment.
I used to dislike elementalist not too long ago, but I tinkered around with it some more and it’s growing on me. I would like a weapon swap even if it is an out of combat only swap.
Can you guys try making the guild wars 2 folder not read only then the GW2.exe compatibility tab check run as administrator? It worked for some who had missing textures and corrupted files. Also it’s the only way SMAA will work for me.

There an echo in here? Anyways try the increase address workround I posted, it works in other games, worse case scenario it doesn’t help.

Try this:
Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
Restart the computer.
Will give you another gig of virtual user address space, see if that helps at all.

Error report says it.. out of memory.
Upgrade to 64bit windows or use the 3GB hack in the meantime until you upgrade. I feel for the ram that has nothing to do.
Try a install repair of GW2 if this is happening with multiple cards. Do the textures disappear after a while and lots of map changes? or right off the bat?
Talk with the net admin of the dorm. They will have to give you access. In a lot of cases the ports needed are blocked. Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 inbound/outbound.
Also this may or may not help: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/10-5-11-2130-101-closed-connections/first#post77719
Click My Account on the website here, download client, install, point it to the exact same folder your files are in. It will download the files it needs. I took the risk and tested it for you by deleting my own GW2.exe then trying it.
My game randomly ALT-TABS to desktop. I don't know why! Please help.

Maybe a program is set to auto-update and it’s kicking you to the desktop when it does it. I’ve seen it happen mostly with anti-viral software.
Make sure to click the box that says to remember this location.

This is a stretch but I don’t have a lot of info to go on: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Possible-Crash-Fix-Message-to-Anet-and-Players
Could be 2 things: 32 bit windows trying to page memory that’s in use
or
Guild wars 2 known error with Nvidia GTX cards.
Try the 3gb windows fix and if the problem stops we have the answer. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this then don’t.
Enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32-bit)
Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
Restart the computer. Then try game.
To un-do: bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa
Reboot.
Awsome ^-^ I use it in Rift as well. They don’t care.

But since you mentioned it crashes in other games I asked the other questions.

OP I had similar issues with the same card in the past, it turned out the cards are notoriously faulty (not saying yours is just yet) Did you ever get a pink screen of death?
Did you check the normal yadda yadda dust, clean drivers, no background programs etc etc?
Can you also manually turn the fans up to 100% and see if the problems go away?
Just trying to eliminate possibilities.
I use SMAA since day 1, I asked a mod directly but haven’t gotten a response just yet. It looks great and runs well. I don’t really see how using SMAA is any different than having CCC override the game in terms of violating any rules. I will continue using it. The reason I use SMAA is because well 1 it’s good. and 2 forced AA on my card has a known issue of making the game screen black in GW2. And 3 FXAA is too blurry for my tastes.
Not meant as anything rude, but the bottle neck is everything you listed.
If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. I’m not sure what exactly you wanted out of making this thread. Unless you’re just looking to stir trouble. So… your opinion is valid, have a nice day? I can’t really tell you what to like so this conversation ends here.

Try the fix they used for mumble overlay. See if it does anything. I am curious.
Also does it work running dxtory AFTER the game is started up?

My origional post assumed they had to manually press buttons. If it presses them for you I would advise against it.

Anyone other than a GM can only speculate. I personally wouldn’t see a problem unless it enables you to do anything un-attended. But who am I? just some moron on the internet.
I sometimes play on a MSI GX740 and the performance is great so I imagine a recent alienware would have no problems.
I won’t get into any sort of brand debate because I honestly don’t care. The one I mentioned is decent bang for buck. Doesn’t look all that cool (although it is red!) Gets hot as stink but vents it conveniently into my mouse hand, nice and toasty on a cold day.

Does the laptop have two graphics processors? one for when its gaming and one for when its not? If so can you disable one?
Set all power settings to maximum performance, disable any settings that auto clock down cards/ pci etc..
Double check to make sure.
This game has a habit for some people to switch to the 2D clock settings on some cards could this be happening to you? there is a workaround somewhere in the forums.
I’m not really qualified to answer but I did see some connect failures and a lot of timeouts in the log there. Got any friends there with beefy internets you can try the download at? Korea’s like the internet capital of the universe. If it still fails elsewhere there’s at least more to go on in helping discover the problem. Sorry my answer sucks.

Put card to stock settings if they aren’t. I don’t really have a lot of info to go on. I think the post above meant downclock TO 80% not by 80% To check for heat problems or instability if it’s OC’ed.
Kittenly Kittened made me giggle. Sounds like something borked in the local.dat file. I don’t really know whats in that file but thanks for the tip.
If you change your password and they can still get to the email verification stage likely there is a keylogger on your pc still or the password is too easy to guess. Like has been stated before when you get that email then they successfully used your password. Thats all there is to it.
- edit also make sure that the new verification’s aren’t from yourself. The ones that are YOUR IP you can set to remember that location.
If the IP is not yours then yes your information is compromised. And I advise changing any and all passwords to other sites/games/banks if they have similar log in info.
Just trying to help.

Clean virii off your pc, change your password. If you get those emails it means they already know your password.
Trying a bunch at the same time so here goes (this is experience SO FAR, will change I’m sure as I level)
Ranger 28 – 9/10 – Very easy to play, Lynx I choose you! (BM/wilderness)
Warrior 28 – 7/10 – Straight forward slash fest (Crit build – sword/axe)
Mesmer 20 – 5/10 – Powerful but slower in pve. (staff build/ illusions)
Elementalist 20 – 7/10 – Fun in groups, haven’t figured out solo yet. (staff build air/fire)
Engineer 18 – 2/10 – Damage lowest of the 5 ( grenades/bombs thinking about maybe trying flame thrower)
If I had any idea of what I was doing, they’d probably all be 10/10. So really I’m rating my personal skill and understanding of the classes.
Last 3 tried but not my cup of tea.
Necro – deleted
Thief – deleted
Guardian – deleted
I wouldn’t really consider gaming as a deciding factor in buying a mac. I have an old MSI GX740 and it plays smooth on high settings and only runs about $400. As a student this would be more attractive due to cost/power. If your heart is set on a mac I believe they have student discounts and refurbs you can get off their (apple) website.
To answer your question the game runs fine on a 27inch imac (the one with the radeon 6970 in it). But they’re not cheap. (its the only mac i’ve seen the game on) About roughly the same performance as the $400 laptop.
My understanding is the mac client is the pc client with Cider acting as an in-between translator instead of an actual native client. So I don’t know what if any effect that has on the game. But it does run.
About number 32. I tried the suggestion but just to clarify the XP and loot does not match your current actual level, it’s still scaled down. But yes it is good to hop around at the early levels if you rushed and didn’t do a lot of events and are behind on your story level. There are so many ways to level in this game.
I just feel like I have to jump through hoops to get almost as good results as my other characters auto-attacks. (warrior, ranger)
I am willing to concede that I just don’t understand the class and its mechanics. What is the “proper” way to play one in PvE? It just seems unforgiving and unrewarding.
