Awesome. Someone wasn’t thinking straight over there, for sure.
You don’t market a ‘mystery’ and then spoil it right off the bat, sheesh.
Tip for whoever writes the flavor text for these items: Please don’t put a story spoiler right on the item so that looking at it the first time it gets linked in guild chat it ruins the mystery for everyone who hasn’t finished the story achievement yet. =P
This is in regards to the Fervid Censer.

Both boss fights for this dungeons are amazingly fun. Please move whoever designed these great encounters to the main Dungeon design team!
This thread makes my inner child want to cry. She’s sad because some of you seem to have lost yours. Are you guys really so “grown up” that you can no longer appreciate stuff like this?
I’ll be joining some of you in the 30 club in a few days and the SAB had me sitting at my PC with a stupid grin on my face. It’s FUN! That’s why I play games… for fun. I’m weird like that!
SAB breaks your immersion? What about the holiday events in GW1 that left behind stuff that some people might consider too silly or immersion breaking? I’m sure seeing a monk running around with with a wintergreen spear, hot pink wedding dress and a walking pile of candy corn following behind probably didn’t kill the immersion for anyone! All those people wearing Santa hats and jack-o-lanterns all year round fit in perfectly! Right? If there’s anything we should be wearing while adventuring in Elona, it’s a Santa hat!
Take all of that into consideration and tell me what gave the impression that GW2 would be a srs bsns fantasy experience.
I’m 32 and I love ‘revisiting my childhood’. This is a great mashup of the old Zelda/Mario games, and as someone who just loves -games- and isn’t hung up on maintaining some ‘hardcore/gritty/srsbsns’ cred like some of the complainers in this thread, I’m having a great time with the SAB.
If it hurts your ~immersion~ that there are people in Rata Sum playing an 8-bit retro jumping puzzle you really should probably take a break for awhile anyway and get your priorities checked.

GAME OVER (maybe). I think it should stay a temporary, special event. BUT!
They could maybe release a new SAB world in the Christmas and Halloween patches. A good compromise?
The team involved in making the SAB needs a raise. And maybe even a promotion. That is all.
Fancy cutscenes take a lot of resources and time. It’s better to do these minimal ones, and put more work into actual gameplay content (imo).
They aren’t scalable in size though (at least not with the hair makeover kit).
Just sad, that they violate their own professed design philosophy of female charr by cute-ing Rox up to a parody-level and even giving her huge eyelashes.
CUZ OTHERWISE HOW WILL WE KNOW SHE’S A GURL, RIGHT?
The new instances were fun, I felt this was a more substantive chapter of the Living Story, while the earlier ones were too underwhelming and lacked a coherent narrative. If the first two parts had been combined, and had lasted for a shorter amount of time, it would’ve been better I think.
Rox looks idiotic. She’s an adorable kitten with googly eyes, which is just wrong and doesn’t even match her voice.
The rest of her characterization is good, though. I like her personality.

My Guardian, Roienna:
It’s odd that they’re Ascalonian ghosts. What are they doing way out in Maelstrom?
People duel in WvW all the time.
Maybe you guys could make a Fight Club guild and find some corner of a WvW map to do your thing.
So why the heck can guilds even BE cross-server, if any members on different home servers than the one the mission gets started on get NOTHING even when Repping and guesting? There is no upside to having members in different servers, only negatives!
Being a cross server guild already splits Influence and upgrades, and now even mission participation is ruined for those who for whatever reason are on a different realm. At first glance this system of allowing people to guild cross-server and guest freely appears to be a benefit, but in reality it’s a hidden handicap for everyone involved.
(edited by Pietoro.2014)
Making all the mission types dependent on one tree instead of individually unlocked via investment in their various trees was, frankly, a pants-on-head stupid idea.
I’m in another small PvE guild that had nothing in Art of War and we’re now screwed dumping Influence into a tree we’ll never use 99% of, to get a mission type few of us are interested in, that we’ll have to farm in order to unlock the types we DO want to do.
ArenaNet, you effed up big time. You effed over small, PvE guilds. You put up barriers to friends having fun together on their own terms, which is a value you claimed to hold higher than any other.
Crap, I should have gotten the Quaggan! Dang!
When given a choice, ALWAYS choose Quaggan.
I enjoyed the PS up until Claw Island. After that, it lost most of it’s appeal unfortunately; I couldn’t get behind the Pact arcs so much, and the final fight with Zhaitan was a disappointment frankly.
I believe it’s canon that some Charr dye their fur red, in particular. Maybe other colors too who knows?
I liked it — I hope we get more Order-specific stories later on, though. I was underwhelmed with most of the Orr-related bits of the story, but the earlier parts I enjoyed.
That entire subforum is basically useless to find dev posts because it’s filled with tech/account support back and forths that are relevant only to the people who posted that issue.
Only posts by actual devs should be recorded there, so they are easy to find. I’m not interesting in slogging through dozens of ‘I can’t log in!’ ‘My game’s crashing!’ ’I’m locking/merging this thread’ -type posts.
I see achievements for the tavern brawl are listed now; not sure when those went in. That could be a hint as to which game we’re getting next.
For the love of gawd, get Guesting working please. Or at least announce that you’ve given up on it.
It’s not simply height that can make puzzles trickier for Charr, but also the fact they run/land jumps on all fours and therefore it can be hard to judge where your character’s feet will land, especially on narrower platforms.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Windy_Cave_Treasure
You mean that? It’s been added since the October update.
…why isn’t it listed in the tab with the other Puzzles? Odd that it doesn’t count as one.
(edited by Pietoro.2014)
It’s a fairly challenging*, but there is no achievement for getting to the chest at the end! Disappointing.
*For reference, I mean the jumping puzzle mentioned here:
http://gw2.unfair.co/guides/guild-wars-2-jump-puzzle-lornars-pass-windy-cave/
PvP Slingshot and Popgun would be hilarious, imo.
People whining every 5 seconds is what ruins the festive spirit.
There are several altars around the world that are triggered by /kneel. There’s one in Hirathi as well.
Anyone who has spent time in Rata Sum listening to NPCs knows that there is always the threat of golem uprisings (and there has been at least one in the past). So it seems there is only a fine line between a ‘behaving’ golem and one that rebels against it’s master.
Now, during the toyshop event where you have to paint the blank Princess Dolls, if you shoot a Skritt they complain about how Wintersday is ruined and ‘the big clanker lied’ to them. Is this a hint that Toxx somehow incited the Skritt to occupy the ship?
/end conspiracy theory
I haven’t done the Toypocalypse event yet so if this is mentioned somehow there then nvm. =P
Keg Brawl has the same issue (one main reason a lot of people don’t want to play it).
Adding some valuable mats like these to dungeon token rewards would be a great idea, I agree!
They’ve said they have the ability to balance PvP and PvE skills separately. They need to do that already instead of destroying PvE usefulness in the name of fixing PvP imbalances.
Professions don’t matter as much as the spec of the player. It’s best to have a mix of dps and support — a team of 5 people specced as glass cannon dps, for instance, will probably have a very hard time.
Seriously, where is guesting?!
In humans, hairlessness is actually a ‘negative’ trait — without a coat of hair we’re more prone to sunburn and skin injury. The common theory is that it was a mutation that early humans found attractive, and that’s the only reason why it got perpetuated in our species.
As has been mentioned above with peafowl (and many other types of birds), some physical traits develop purely for beauty’s sake, and not because they’re ‘useful’. Same is probably true for Charr horns.
I agree; dungeons should stay open at least 4-6 hours after the event.
I’m fairly certain that I once overheard a human child NPC say she wants a pony for her birthday… so it’s pretty mysterious that they’re so unseen outside of vague references.
The humans worship their gods because their gods were physically present and took care of them for generations. The Norn worship their Spirits because (same deal) their spirits defend and empower them. The Charr see all ‘gods’ as tyrants and would happily punch any being in the face who tried to assert itself as a god over them; at best they just ignore any god or spirit. The asura see gods/spirits as just another type of cog in the Eternal Alchemy.
There is no reason for the different racial beliefs to fight, since outside of the Sons of Svanir and Flame Legion there aren’t any religious nutjobs in Tyria trying to force people to conform to any sort of worship they don’t want to.
Okay, the gods have left Tyria, (which is a real let down…) so Grenth and Dwyanna can’t come back to duke it out. However, how does a holiday based around two gods fighting it out change into a toymaker floating through Tyria handing out presents? How does that relate to the Snowman vs Grentch warfare that’s been happening for hundreds of years? AGHHHH WHYY?!
Not the first time a holiday has been cheapened over the generations by shallow materialism. =P
As for the Vallus/Sesric story arc, I think it’s likely they were in some sort of relationship. That is just my opinion though, YMMV for this entire thread. Are we looking into it too much? Hell yes, but please check the OP, looking into it is the point of this thread.
Gentlemen, let the shipping begin!
Oh, I’ll bet the shipping started ages ago; this is the internet after all!
I’d really like some followup on this story as well. Or any continuation with my racial-specific story/side-characters (I also helped him escape).
Gidbrel Azureflame (mesmer), apart of the Deaths Head Legion ‘guild’
8/10 A good name for a mesmer charr, imo, especially the first name.
My Ash Legion engineer is ‘Gaura Havocshot’, of the Havoc warband.
I’m up for path 2 or 3 anytime. I found a group for CoE the other day using GW2LFG website.

This has just started happening to me today. The client will start, show the ‘Downloading’ screen, and hang. Running the -repair shortcut similarly hangs at that point for a while before crashing completely (and giving me an error report window).
Trying to reinstall the game from Gw2setup.exe also crashes (no error, it just blinks out of existence after being started). Anyone know what this could be caused by? Nothing has changed between now and yesterday, when the game was starting just fine.
My Engineer is in Ash, because assasination via explosives is just as useful as a knife in the back, depending on the situation.
Arah Storymode would actually be better if the entire last fight with Zhaitan was a cutscene, imo. If they want it to be about an airbattle with airships, lasers, and dragons a cinematic would be much more epic than the ’fight eternal trash mob waves on deck, then pew pew a boring cannon while not even being able to get a good view of the dragon" event that it is now.
All Storymode dungeons should be soloable and give you 4 (competent) NPC partymembers to run with you. And if a RL friend or two wanted to go into a Storymode with you, their characters could take the places of the pre-set NPCs in the party.
Setting storymodes up like that would solve a lot of issues, imo. Make Explorables the ‘hard mode group content’ and let Storymode be more casual.

Few people play Charr, period. But I love my femCharr regardless. =P
While wandering in Iron Marches I happened to look up one night and noticed two unusual stars; one red and one orange. In an otherwise normal sky they rather stand out.
Does anyone happen to know anything about these stars (names perhaps?), or have there not been any references to them in the past?
