Please, PLEASE, P L E A S E no “footprints” and “auras” and “swooshes” on all the new Legendaries! Can’t something look “legendary” and not look like a Las Vegas sideshow? I would like one someday too, as something post-80 to shoot for. But not if it makes me look like a circus clown.
That’s what the Black Lion Ticket skins seem to be. Given the amount of time investment needed for a Legendary, I’m all ’Vegas baby…Vegas."
In a nutshell, she was the first Sylvari, that we know of, to be influenced by Mordremoth. She went a bit batkitten crazy, destroyed Lion’s Arch, and then woke up the dragon. That’s really all that you need to know.

And, welcome to GW2!
Starting on Saturday, I have been getting disconnected during the Vinewrath event. Seven out of the last Eight events I have participated in, I have lost my connection and been dumped back into an empty world upon logging back in.
On top of the already dismal RNG chances (I’m 1:15 on Coat Boxes with that fight), going through the whole lead-up to the event with the breach and all and then participating in the fight, sometimes up to the very last Champ, and then being kicked with nothing to show is really killing my enthusiasm for the game. I’ve got all of my Mordrem Parts. I have all of my other Luminscent gear. I have nearly four thousand Bandit Crests in my inventory. I only need a single Coat Box to finish. Just one.
Can you please give players a grace window of 30-60 seconds to log back into the world they’ve been disconnected from? This would make such a huge difference!
I finally got my last coat box after a lot of attempts, and I feel sad for all of you who still not got theirs.
I really hope that next week patch will add the coat to the bandit crests seller.
Grats! I’m up to 12 runs with only 1 Coat Box (from the chest). I know other folks have it worse, but it’s such a discouraging feeling each time to not get what I need.
Wait…….you don’t automatically get two chests boxes on first kill?!?!?
LOL I must be extremely luckyDDD
My wife did too. She got two boxes from the first kill. Then, she got a box from the second kill. And then she got a box from the third kill, making a total of four boxes in three fights.
It’s safe to say that I haven’t been as lucky.

A MMORPG without RNG is a dead MMO pretty fast. RNG and grind is the essence of life for MMOs. If you dont like it, its probably the wrong genre for you.
A ‘fair’ system can utilize both RNG and Grind as avenues for reward streams. The current pattern of leaving the newest content to pure RNG and phasing in Grind for past rewards is a great example of this. I fully expect it to continue with the next update.
I didn’t understand the fuss around these carapace coat boxes until i checked this topic. I did the vinewrath event 3 times and got 3 boxes so i honestly thought it was a guaranteed drop from the chest. Seems like i was just incredibly lucky, lol….
My wife got two coat boxes her first time (the achievement, plus one from the chest) and then her third coat box on her following attempt. That’s all three boxes in two Vinewrath fights.
I’ve completed six so far and gotten only the first achievement one. Others have had it much worse. I know that RNG is RNG and all that, but this just isn’t fun.
Also, enameled dyes (high saturation) from what I read somewhere works best on the lumi armors.
My lumi gear is a dyed a mix of Celestial and Enameled Blue. It’s pretty sweet.
Mini Mordremoth
Mini Trahearne
Mini Unicorn
3000 would only be enough to 3 of the pieces. You are still short at least another 1000.
Hopefully at least one of the chest/helmet sets will be earned from playing/replaying the Living Story chapter. I’m going to be kittened if I have to grind out 6000 more crests.
You’re not the first to suggest it. The map’s “lanes” certainly seem to lend themselves in that direction and that giant Mordrem Thrasher we saw in the Living Story (before the helicopter rescues us) seems like a very good candidate for a boss.
That said, the Marionette was also a time of much frustration and division in the community. It was a brilliant event, but it could easily be spoiled by the actions (or inaction) of a couple of players, ruining it for the 100+ others who were participating.
ANet seems to have moved away from that sort of model, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being something instanced as part of the Living Story.
exactly, if there were perfect balance there would be no counterplay, and no strengths and weakness to seperate classes, they would just have different names to seperate them
So, in that scenario, the winner would be determined by…player skill?
What is in the Chests that is worth farming for? I still open them up as I come across them, or when I get a Shovel, but honestly there isn’t much in there that I’ve seen that I’d consider worth farming.
By my (probably inaccurate) count I went 53 breaches without getting a bladder part, then 2 came at once.
I was pathetically grateful.
There is something wrong with me.
That sounds a lot like me. After getting all the bladder parts, but Husk, I proceeded to best the Husk over 20 times without a bladder drop. Then, on Saturday, I got two in a row. Go figure.
What they really need to do is make the shield a Main hand weapon.
Why not both? Let us run Shield/Shield! :p
For real though, I wish ANet would just switch the skills from Focus and Shield.
I agree! My only beef is with the stupid RNG and there being no guaranteed path to getting all the Mordrem parts you need (I’m looking at you Half-Bladders).
Just no. The Bell Choir is still hard. I’ve gone as far as doing everything you said before you even suggested it, and it was still ridiculously hard.
You say this. And other people have been saying it a lot. So I assume that it’s truth and you’re not all trolling. But I honestly can’t understand how you think that. For me, even the first time doing bell choir 2 years ago, it was ridiculously faceroll easy. I can’t even see the potential for difficulty or challenge in it. You don’t even have to be musically inclined… you just hit the right key when the orb gets to you…
Anyway. I think it’s understandable that Anet wouldn’t realise this might be a massive problem for some players.
It’s hard because the game does a very poor job at explaining how to do it. Once people realize how it works, it becomes easy.
Would enjoy replaying it, but would it be as cool without the huge overworld army?
No, and that’s the biggest hurdle for Season 1 content. Sure, we had a couple of quick solo instances, but the vast majority was epic server-wide events.
Even with scores of NPCs to fill the ranks…it just wouldn’t be the same.
Why didn’t you solo it then?
After a half-dozen tries for the first achievement and then a handful of attempts at the second (while solo), I got entirely fed up with having to sit through all that dialogue over and over again.
Challenges are good. Having to wait 5-10 minutes between tries is excruciating.
Yeah…I got it by standing on a ledge and ranging while the others in the group ran him around.
It was easy and completely unheroic. There was absolutely nothing to feel good about with this achievement other than that I demonstrated that I know how to use the LFG tool.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t what achievements are for.
hopefully its more content the next patch cause 30 minutes/ 1 hour of content aint cutting it.
What would ‘cut it’? How much free content should we be entitled to each week or two?
I have been gaming since the days of Atari 2600 and I have no problem replaying hard content over and over again until you succeed. Challenges are great!
However, the price of failure in this instance, particularly with the second achievement, is entirely too high. Being forced to sit through the same unskippable dialogue and cutscenes over and over again is a cruel punishment.
I’m beyond frustrated at these bladders. Since the last updated, I’ve only managed to get two half-bladders (from different Champs). The RNG is so very, very cruel.
From the update notes:
Chapter 7 is now focused on helping Trahearne cleanse Orr.
Chapter 8 is now focused on defeating Zhaitan. The story steps that were in Ch8 that involved helping Trahearne with his wyld hunt have been moved to Ch7.
This is a really terrible change. Please consider changing it back.
I think this particular back item would be essentially free if it’s components were cheaper/fewer/somehow more abundant than they are now.
The amount of “effort” I’ve placed into this scavenger hunt, I don’t know what kind of reward to expect. I just played parts of the game I normally play.
If making the backpiece only involved a scavenger hunt (which is trivial) then what you say would be true, but it doesn’t. The Mawdrey backpiece requires far more materials and crafting requirements than any other ascended backpiece currently available (with the exception of the spinal blades, but that’s only because blade shards aren’t abundantly available anymore); how can we not find the effort to reward ratio to be completely skewed when early backpieces required one farmed material and one maxed crafting skill at most, then suddenly have this shopping list of requirements for Mawdrey fly out of the blue?
Mawdrey is only expensive if you have to have it right now and feel compelled to spend the gold to buy the parts. Otherwise, the cost is trivial. (assuming you have already leveled your crafting). Even buying a few parts, like the clay pots, is still going to be cheaper than crafting something like the Light of Dwayna, with its 50 Icy Runestones and piles of Damask.
I don’t think anyone here was complaining about having to go on a scavenger hunt or complete the living story missions. I do think they stated that they don’t want to do the same 4-5 events over and over to get enough geodes to buy 1 piece of clay (or the equivalent). Which, to me, sounds more like a grinding as opposed to less like a grinding.
A total of 75 pieces of clay are needed for the three back pieces. At a cost of 7 geodes (T4 instance) per piece, that’s 525 geodes needed. You can easily earn 30+ geodes in a single sandstorm. That equates to running the same cycle of events about 17 times.
But, that doesn’t include any geodes that you get from completing all four pieces of the personal story, which is a substantial number. It also doesn’t include rewards for repeating those steps for achievements. It also doesn’t include geodes that can be earned from the PvP track. All told, there really isn’t that much grind when you factor that the above has been spread over multiple months of gameplay.
Best of all though, ANet gave a way to skip all of that grind and allows you to buy it off of the Trading Post. Yes, it’s expensive, but you’re essentially paying someone else to do that grind for you, so it should be expensive.
It just feels like more gold sinks every update.
What gold sink? The backpiece is practically free if you put in the work to make it yourself.
Hmm. I figured that it was that Zephyrite chap, (Master of Peace?), that sent the Dragon.
LS2 isn’t a personal story at all. It’s a scripted event.
I felt this in ‘The Dragon’s Reach: Part 2’ more than in any other part of the game.
The game has made so many audio conversations, even some town folks’ gossip. Why didn’t they just do a little bit more effort to make all player-NPC conversations audio, READING is NOT fun. Well for those who can read very fast, they can just click a next button then jump over the audio conversation.
Heck no. Have you heard the quality of most of that voice talent? shiver
I’m not saying that GW2 is a bad game, but I am saying that it needs real, permanent content to stay alive…
I have a short attention span. ‘Permanent’ content gets stale very quickly for me and I’ve yet to find an MMO which can keep up with my appetite for it.
The Living Story content, on the other hand, has kept the game fresher for me than any game before this one. Yes, I know that it’s often trivial in nature and quick to be completed, but that’s not the point. Having something new to look forward to every couple of weeks is huge. The anticipation drives my interest.
I’m sure that I’m not alone.
Do the number of days tell us anything relevant?
No. Nothing at all. Unless those hours are specifically being spent on activities which have a chance at returning a precursor, it’s a meaningless metric.
With the living story, you have to accept that there will be things in the past that you may have missed and which you cannot now acquire. The upside is that there is always something new coming which you can.
The Living Story is, honestly, what is keeping me in this game.
We’re edging up on two years since release. My attention span for an MMO has historically been about 12-18 months, going back about ten years. Having new achievements and content to look forward to every couple of weeks has kept the game fresh for me in a way that no other has managed before.
More than that too though, I really like the sense of history that the game is building. Events that happen do matter and the world is gradually changing. I dig that.
The ‘official’ website says, “As part of the continuing effort to provide exciting rewards and combat to WvW, we are happy to announce the WvW Spring Tournament 2014, which starts on March 28 and runs through May 16.”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/wvw-spring-2014-tournament/
The wiki says, “WvW Spring Tournament 2014 started on March 28 and runs through May 30, lasting 9 weeks.”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Spring_Tournament_2014
Generally, I go for official information over wiki stuff, but in this case it seems that the wiki is probably correct. Can anyone provide an official reference that we have another two weeks for the season?
So, what do you think? Am I right or no?
Nope, you’re totally wrong. The LS is one of the most interesting parts of this game and I really dig that ANet is taking a different approach from the norm.
well, I read all you’v write above, I didn’t saw any ranger complaining about the fact Ranger should be a fighter for distance, so this means ARENA NET must do something regard this problem, we Rangers don’t have atm any good build for Longbow or Shortbow, not in sPVP not in WvW. Someone said most rangers are coming from pve area where the Longbow did a good dps and provide a safe distance, and I could say I’m agree with him. But GW2 don’t means only PVE, and I made a Ranger for fighting with Bow (Longbow or Short … most of time should be Longbow, because this should be the Ranger main weapon) in WvW and sPVP. It is stupid because of ARENA NET Rangers are forced to play with Greatsword (c’mon we are warrior?) , Sword, usual melee weapon. I played a lot of time World of Warcraft (more then 5 years), Rift, Tera and I don’t meet anywere this stupidity that a Hunter/Ranger should play with another wepon then Bow for higher dps. In most of the MMO games Hunter/Ranger provide a lot of CC and range damage because this is at least theoreticaly their jobs , for melee are others classes like warr, guardian, thief, assasin, etc … 1 year ago if I remember we had at least a good build, based on condition damage with shortbow … now we don’t have nothing
You’ve got a very narrow notion of what a Ranger should be. Ranger is more than just ranged DPS. In fact, I think that’s half the problem with the class. Folks come from WoW or LotRO or whatever and think that it should be a pew pew pew class find out that spamming LB isn’t a thrilling experience.
I love EoTM. It sits somewhere in between PvE and WvW and makes for a fun and low-pressure atmosphere that is pretty all inclusive.
Yeah, a month or two back someone from ANet mentioned that we would be able to trade them in for something.
I’ve got half a bank tab full of ‘em and I’d love to recover that space too. I’m not getting my hopes up though. Chances are we’ll trade them for boxes that will have a couple of green items in each.
I couldn’t find anything in the recent patch notes.
That’s because there wasn’t anything there.
ANet is keeping very silent on the matter.
Much/most of the living world content involved large zone-wide events and battles with 100+ players.
It would be hard or impossible to replay that in a solo instance.
Don’t mesmers have enough toys already?
Hey everyone,
This is a wording bug not a content issue. The design behind the dungeon tracks was that players would need to run the track multiple times to get the entire set of weapons and armor.
19 – weapons
18 – pieces of armor (6 light, 6 medium, and 6 heavy)Upon completing a track you will get 3 weapons and 1 piece of armor all your choice including stat combo. Upon running the track multiple times you are able to either save tokens for legendary or use tokens to speed the process up of getting the full weapons/armor set you are working towards.
The fact the text says “set” is a mistake that we are going to update soon. Any other questions just let me know.
Wait, you only get one piece after all those matches?
That just killed my enthusiasm for the new system. Back to wvw and pve for me.
I don’t think so. Once you create a bug, you never see or hear from it again.
I love the new patch. There are so many needed improvements. I do understand why some people are upset though, change is sometimes hard.
I would LOVE the ability to swap armor sets like I do my weapons. Oooh, and trait sets too. Plus, utility and healing skills!
Some communication from ANet on this would be very welcome. I’ve had stacks of those things in my inventory for going on two months now.
I am also missing all of my pvp locker skins. I have tried all of the advice in this thread, but have received neither skins nor charges.
Should I file an in-game ticket?
No it’s not. There are no such borders atm. Open up your inventory and tell me after a raid which items are yellow and which trash.
At the moment u can’t without hovering over with the mouse.
If they really add this feature i would be very glad as it was something i have been thinking of for some time now.
Sorry dude, but the feature has been in-game for a very long time. The toggle is located in the menu in the upper-right of your inventory window.
