I quit the game over this, that’s how bad it is. I liked Reaper-gameplay with shorter cooldown on shroud, now it feels clunky. Reaper was the class that kept me playing the game.
On the bright side, i have more time for cycling now. GW2 was bad for my health.

Our whole group lost connection twice in swampland fractal.
The AOE-field should folllow the necromancer. For fractals it’s not bad as it is; for WVW i liked the old plague more.
I’m from the EU and play on NA servers. I often get Error 7 (multiple times per day) since a month ago and my ping went from ~160ms to ~200ms.
I ran the -diag and it looks like packets getting lost.

Old Saying: Uninstall in March, until November.
Blasting light fields helps alot vs condi heavy teams.
Of course, if you fight condi heavy groups who are much larger, you will have a hard time.
I think it’s fair now, condi teams need a strong bomb too.

It’s obvious that they dont want to spend lots of resources on WvW.
My solution is a quick fix one developer could implement in one day.
The Population is rapidly declining. Playing on empty Maps is not fun, even in T1 the Borderland-maps are empty most of the time.
It doesn’t fix the underlying problems with WvW, but it’s better than doing nothing.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
Easy Solution: Reduce number of tiers to 2 for NA and 3 for EU.
Revenant feels unfinished and plays clunky. Needs more weapons. Hammer and staff needs an overhaul to make them less clunky and more fun to play.

~25min for 46 Q, not so bad as i thought.
TC has ~340 people waiting in queues across all four Maps. 157 alone for EB.
Who is waiting so long? And then after some hours and heavy fighting, the client crashes and you will have to wait again.
How beefy is it?
1. Revert all HoT-WvW-changes and bring the Alpine BL-Map back.
2. Add Desert BL-map to EOTM rotation.
Anet spawn Worldbosses in WvW please, so that i don’t have to leave the map while farming nodes. Tequatl in SMC, gogogo.
Chests would be nice too. Everybody likes chestfarming; look at your statistics. /s

Vague metacritic reviews and HoT feedback
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Pixelninja.6971
I bet half of the 10 stars reviews on Metacritic are written by Anet employees.
Yesterday the score was around 5 with almost 1 to 1 positive and negative reviews.
I checked some Tech-forum with active Game-sections and nobody talks about Guild Wars, nobody. If HoT flops, Anet will have to screw you even more to keep the NCsoft shareholders happy.
I have some great ideas:
Dungeons and Fractals cost 200 Gems per run.
Move all Worldbosses to the new Borderlandmap.
Players lose 1s per minute while playing game.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
WvW is dead, just checked Teamspeak and there is no WvW-group going for hours.
Before HoT, we always had a group of hardcore WvW-players during off-hours, now nobody is on. These people were the the reason i kept playing WvW, now that they are gone so am i.
Just keep telling yourself that all hardcore wvw-players are playing pve. Hope dies last.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
The new BL-map is awful, feels like a EOTM + Dry Top remix. This map has the potential to kill the game for me. I think i will take a really long break.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
With the restrictions, i find it’s fair, both for new and veteran players.
New players get a good feel for the game, without destroying the economy and community. If they like it and want to get serious, they will have to buy the game, because with the restrictions it won’t be fun in the long run.
Never underestimate ArenaNet’s / NCsoft’s ability to screw things up.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
Drunken-Elephant-trunk-horn. Na, you are right, realistic is not the right word. I have listened to some animal-horn-sounds on youtube now. Nothing sounds like it.
To make a sound like the in-game warhorn sound, you need a really big horn and a bad blower. A tuba could make a sound like the in-game warhorn sound too.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
At first i have thought that my soundcard was overloaded. It just sounds bad, even if it sounds more realistic. There was no need for a new warhorn-sound.

NCsoft / Anet got to greedy.
Just give the Standard Edition1 Character-slot and the Deluxe and Ultimate 2 Slots, problem solved.

Wow, my interest for GW2 just dropped to minus 10.
First they destroyed WvW with the Stab changes.
I thought fine, i will just play PvP; With the Specialisation, we will get another layer of complexity. But now it seems that they dumb down the Build-system even more. Definitely not going to the Expansion on release, i will just wait and see.
Reduce the max number per map by 20 to 30 anyway. The Map-blob Pirate-ship Meta is killing WvW.
Game crashes/freezes (black screen and music)
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Pixelninja.6971
Yep, same here. Game froze two times today in Spvp, while the music kept playing. It took a while for the PC to respond again. I got a notification that my Nvidia driver and the Firefox plugin container (Flash) crashed. Normally my PC runs stable.
I’m not sure if it’s due to the last patch or another issue. Have reinstalled the GPU-driver and will test if it crashes again.
EDIT: Looks like it was Driver-problem.

6 Borderland-maps would make coverage imbalances even worse.
I hope that they reduce the Borderland-maps to just 1 Map. It would suck during reset night, but would make for better balanced fights during the reset of the week.
Well not with those servers, U alrwady have amazing lags with 100 vs 100, what woudl happend with 300 vs 300 or even more? Cos it is sure that ppl will blob at new map, they will always blob now, cos u blob u win with new stabillity
1 BL-Map and leave the max number per Map like it is now. Screw the overstacked servers, let’em play EOTM.

The stab change is great. Guardians and warriors are still usefull.
Working as intended.
Yeah, right. Warriors are still good for Banners, to rez the Driver when he gets pin-sniped. Great gameplay, i can’t wait to get on and play my Banner-bot. \s
Why should i play Warrior, when i can play my Necro and melt faces. I can’t remember the last time i was hit by a Hammer-stun, seriously.

Warriors are still good for camp flipping though.
But don’t despair fellow warriors, we will get a staff and join the pirate ship crew. Yarr \s

i7 4790k and GTX 980 getting me average fps ?

Oh and @Pixelninja, I’m getting about 63fps exactly where you are with the same settings (btw I get no difference between No Reflection and Terrain and Sky Reflections.)
I think you only get 63FPS because it’s nighttime in Game, try again at daytime. I get only ~66FPS at night at the Lion Statue.

Some Settings costs a disproportional Framerate-drop.
Set Reflections to none and you will get ~30FPS more in LA.
Reflections cost performance even if you can’t see the water. For me it’s just not worth the perfomance hit.
With UI off, i get 3 to 7 more FPS in LA around the Lion statue.
If i set Collision Sensitivity to 0, i get additional 1 to 5 FPS more.

Just play sPvP. More and better fights then roaming in WvW.
I got an answer from someone with an Intel 4770k and AMD R9 290. He gets 60 FPS at that Ingame-location. So it’s not a general R9 290 problem.
That looks amazing. I have the same 4690k (+R9 290) myself. I’m standing in the exact same spot as you with the exact same settings as your screenshot, and I’m getting 17fps! I mean I’m running stock right now (HWinfo showing 3.9ghz) but I didn’t think the difference would be that much.
What’s your CPU utilization? That’s one of the biggest problems for me. Mine is topping out at ~35% usage, and even the easy software pre-set overclocking to 4.5ghz, I still get the same fps performance – with the same 35% usage. Is something bottlenecking? I know it’s not thermal throttling as I have a Corsair H75 water cooler, average temps 50-55c. Any ideas?
My CPU Utilisation is around 55% at this spot.
I don’t know what the problem on your system is, i can only guess that the R9 290 series has some problems with GW2.
I have asked people in a Tech-forum with R9 290 cards if they experience the same problem. Hope to get answers soon.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
Finally got it to a stable 50 FPS (not the best, but I’ll go with what I can get) without any stuttering, although the GPU usage is still 100% the entire time. For those who may have the same issue, I went into the UEFI for my motherboard and enabled VT-d under chipset configuration.
Grats on solving the problem, or at least getting better fps. Do you play in a virtual machine?
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
Hey! I have the exact same problem, 100% gpu usage with ~35% cpu (i5 4690k + R9 290). And that’s regardless if I set all settings to low or high. I’d love to see 95-100% cpu usage like when I play on my laptop. At least on my laptop, I can go from slideshow framerates to butter smooth if I overclock it (since it’s using 100% cpu), but on my desktop which uses 35% cpu, any overclock is useless with 0 fps increase. It’s driving me insane.
Do you also get low FPS like the Thread starter? If you just get high GPU usage with high FPS, try enabling Vsync.

Cpu: i5 4690k
Gpu:Nvidia Gtx 980
Ram: 2×4gb ripjaws cl912800So autodetect runs everything at basically max besides character limit.
Running through black citadel with basically nobody in site but im dropping to 30-40 fps constantly, i have tried all these “tweaks” but nothing seems to make a difference.
Help?!?!?!
GW2 profits alot from Ram overclocking too. You could try to overclock the Ripsjaws to 2200mhz cl10 with 1.65Voltage.
The 4690k should run at 4Ghz core and cache with Voltage (core and cache) set to 1.1Volt. My 4690k runs at 4ghz core and cache with 1.05Volt. It clocks up to 4.6ghz core (4ghz cache) with 1.22volt core, but for everyday use, 4ghz is enough for me.
Just google Haswell overclocking for guides.
My FPS mostly stays above 55FPS with some drops to 40FPS in the Black Citadel. I only have a small GPU (Nvidia 750 ti @1360mhz).

Hello there! The configuration of my computer:
AMD FX-8350 Eight Core Processor 4.0GHz
8Gb RAM
GPU Radeon R9 200 4Gb
The problem is: I have really low fps(~20) on medium settings. What should i do? Please help me. I bought this game 3 years ago and still have problems with perfomance. So disappointed, becuase i love this game.
Do you even get only ~20fps in areas with not many people around?
If you only get low fps with lots of people around, try setting Character Model Limit to lowest.

The user in the video seems to be getting high framerates at the very least, which is something.
Ya, it’s not the same problem. He has Vsync off and 81FPS, that’s why he gets 100% GPU utilisation, didn’t saw that at first.

Hm, you could try an older GPU driver version and reinstalling the Intel INF Chipsetdriver. Reinstalling Windows and all other Software is a pain (unless you have a backup-image) and you have no guarantee that it solves the problem.
But after reinstalling the drivers and redownloading the game, i would be out of options too.
EDIT: I search for: AMD 290x 100% and found that others have the same problem with GW2 too. The 290x should not run at 100% all the time with medium settings.

Have you checked running the game with no sound? add -nosound to the targetline in the GW2 shortcut.
You could check if the gw2 archiev is broken with the -repair command. Doesn’t take as long as redownloading the whole game. Remove the command afterwards.
You could also check if you get better performance with the -umbra gpu command.
(edited by Pixelninja.6971)
This is indeed strange. Have you checked for Viruses? Could be a Bitcoin mining Virus, but probably not, because then it would use up GPU-time on the other games too.
My first guess was that the GPU stays in a low power state (low GPU core clock), but you said it doesn’t. But you could check twice with running another game in the background (window mode).

I have tested the whole World Event Rotation with Character Model Limit set to lowest. I only get FPS-drops to 20 FPS at the Karka Queen.
Megadestroyer: 45 – 60 FPS, above 50 FPS most the time.
The Shatterer: 40 – 60 FPS, most of the time above 45.
Shadow Behemoth: 45 – 60 FPS
Svanir Shaman: 25 – 60 FPS, after svanir becomes vulnerable i get ~30 FPS for the first ~30sec, then above 50 FPS for the rest of the fight. Only one short 1sec drop to 25 FPS.
Modniir Ulgoth: 30 – 60 FPS, drops to 30 FPS for ~10 sec when the two big stone Elementals spawn.
Fire Elemental: 35 – 60 FPS
Golem Mark II: 30 – 60 FPS, above 50 FPS most of the time.
Jungle Wurm: 25 – 60 FPS. 25 for the first 5 sec after the Wurm becomes vulnerable , then above 30 FPS.
Claw of Jormag: 25 – 60 FPS, 25 FPS when Jormag fears everyone at the beginning, then 30 FPS for ~25sec when attacking the Corrupted Ice Shield. Then above 40 FPS for most of the remaining fight, only short ~2sec drops to 25 – 30 FPS during the second phase.
Karka Queen: 20 – 60 FPS, only drops to 20 FPS for ~2sec during the end of the fight, most of the time above 30 FPS.
Taida Convington: 30 – 60 FPS
Tequatl the Sunless: 25 – 60 FPS, just one 1sec drop to 25 FPS, most of the time above 45 FPS.
