Unfortunately, like i stated in the ticket, i am unable to drop this subject, because if i do, this ticket will imply that i am lying about me and the others being eliglible, which i am not.
This is my issue. I didn’t ask for a gift, but by qualifying for it and sitting back and accepting being overlooked, I’m implying that I’m lying, and since CS and Gaile have in effect said that everyone who qualifies has been sent a mail, and if you haven’t been sent anything, then you don’t qualify, it only makes me feel more intent on seeing this through.
It has now been over a month since the ‘bug’ was identified, and despite the ‘triple checked for accuracy’ lists which are evidently woefully inaccurate, and the distribution of the 1000 ‘bugged’ mails, Gaile and Jeremy appear to have turned their backs on this thread. Another job well-half-done. As for Gaile’s promise to not sweep anything under the rug… well, yeh.
This is very simple:
10 people hit raid boss.
10 people kill raid boss.
5 people receive compensation for no loot.
5 people still qualify, (proven by the distribution to their 5 teammates) but receive no compensation.
It’s been almost a month now, since this ‘bug’ in distribution was identified, and some eligible people have still received nothing. Including at least half of my raid group, though I am sure others have been missed and simply haven’t spoken up about it, or have silently given up.
Who can blame them when it’s been insinuated time and time again that people are lying if they say they’re eligible because the lists have been, in Gaile’s own words; ‘triple-checked for accuracy’. That is such a laughable sentence at this stage.
The depths of irony, pride, and denial in all of this is extraordinary.
From my group of 10 that killed VG on the 20th, half of the group has been given a ‘gift’ and half have not. Someone in my group has even been gifted twice. One of my group contacted support on behalf of those of us in the group who have been forgotten and he received a reply including this sentence;
“I am sorry you are disappointed that you or other users have not been included to receive the gift. Further gifts will not be distributed. Submitting CS tickets on this matter will all yield the same negative reply, as the CS team did not select the users involved.
Regards,
Lead GM Dornsinger
Guild Wars 2 Support Team"
This has been a complete shambles. I know I meet the criteria, and I know the others in my raid group meet the criteria. Indeed, it has been confirmed by you that my raid team meet your criteria because half of them have received gifts. Yet somehow, from the same group that had the same kill, half of us are included and half not. Everyone in my team who hasn’t received a mail played a support class of some kind… were lists created based on damage done to the boss? Is that a hidden criteria?
I wasn’t expecting anything in return for that wasted time, but then I was promised something for my efforts. Now we’re still being told we’re making stuff up when we put our hands up and say ‘er… excuse me, you appear to have forgotten us’. Or patronized because we’re clearly too stupid to understand the meaning of ‘a successful boss encounter’.
The ‘gift’ didn’t need to be offered, but by doing so, and by this poor attempt at being thorough, whether that be because of bugs or excluding people for petty reasons regarding this thread, this ‘kind gesture’ has turned into a very revealing demonstration of the communication ability of staff, and has been quite illuminating for me in redefining the words ‘accuracy’, ‘thorough’, and ‘kind’ when used by staff here.

Over 1000 people have not received their compensation yet, but they will do because Baseraver and others in this thread stood up, even though they were essentially called liars for doing so. Unfortunately the posts where that was said have been deleted; specifically Baseraver’s original post and Gaile’s response to him.
I understand the frustration completely. Rest assured there will be no under the rug sweeping going on.
I’d call deleting posts in this thread sweeping things under the rug, personally. I’d also call the way Gaile initially handled this issue appalling, especially considering the outcome. But that reputation can stay clean thanks to a quick click of the delete button, I guess.
Thank you Jeremy for looking at the data and constructing a considered response. Also, thank you for at least trying to make amends to those who were accused of lying at the beginning.
I look forward to this being fully resolved.
What are the additional requirements? It may help clear up some confusion if we know why we might not have gotten the chest.
I’d like to know too…
Though, if killing one boss was the only requirement, as you have stated, then I can assure you Gaile, that the lists may have been double and triple checked, but people were missed.
We killed VG on 20th June ~8.15pm GMT (we’re EU), all 10 members received no loot except for magnetite shards for the event, (no chest spawned after the kill), and have received nothing from the distribution (to my knowledge).
We weren’t on the old build, people didn’t come and go, people didn’t even die during the encounter if I remember correctly. We very simply entered the instance as a full group, killed trash and then VG, and then left when there was no loot. We shouldn’t even be an ‘edge case’, if the requirements are all you have told us.
We’re still open for new recruits! Guild Missions will be on Saturday this coming week, so plenty of time to get settled in and get some commendations then. We have quite a few members working on map completion and lots of interest in Fractals t2-4. If you’d like to get involved in any of that, then my details are above… give me a shout in game, or head straight to the site to sign up.
Happy gaming
We’re recruiting again! We’d love to see some new faces join us and start getting involved in our community! Although we spend time in different games, we’re really looking for some people who love GW2 and would like to work with us to create more of a presence in GW2! Mostly we’re looking for people who are friendly and want to get involved! All classes/experiences/ages welcome to join!
This is a huge shame to me. The transiency of these achievements and titles is what made them worth playing for me. They were my motivation to get back into PvP for a little while, have some fun with friends away from the salt of ranked. If they’re always going to be around, there’s nothing special about them, no motivation to play PvP, and the sense of achievement is gone. Funny how achievements these days don’t feel like you’ve actually achieved anything.
[VKO] Valiant Knight Order is a small friendly guild, hoping to grow!
What we can offer…
We are not a huge guild, and we don’t ever intend to be. In VKO you are not just another member; a number, a name who just fills a group and comes and goes without being noticed, you’re a person with value.
We are mainly PvE, but we dip into all areas of the game, depending on in game events! We have spontaneous, informal dungeon tours throughout the week, Gathering runs, Guild Missions weekly, and we schedule events to help people get Dungeon Master paths, Personal Reward Levels in Fractals, and awkward achievements. We also have a weekly raid open to any level of experience, for training purposes! We do our best to support players old and new!
We also host little social events, usually mini games which involve jumping off cliffs, or knocking people off high places for prizes! The social side of our guild is very important to us, and these events are a great place to get to know people (before you push them off high places to their death… or after, if they’re not sore about it :P )
The kind of people we’re looking for…
We have a Discord server and a forum, both of which are key to our community, because they allow us to keep in contact even when away/playing other games, and with people in guild no matte what game they’re in, we can all still hang out together. Although Discord isn’t required, it is encouraged… to the point that really, if you don’t want to be a part of our Discord community, there’s not much point. It’s by far the best way we’ve found to build a solid community, in and out of game, so ideally, we’d like you to come hang out with us on Discord!
- We do expect every member of the guild to be on the forum though, that IS a requirement. All our events and news goes up on the forum (as well as Discord), and we don’t want anyone left out.
- We ask for 100% representation (with the exception of guild banks), because we are a social community, not a glorified lfg.
We’re not looking for people who want to ‘use’ the guild for their convenience. Non-representation only tells us you don’t want to be part of our community, or you’d prefer to be somewhere else. If you intend not to represent, then don’t join us! We’re not the guild for you!
We’d like to grow our numbers, but more importantly, we’d like to find similar minded people ie. friends! We have been around as a guild for almost 10 years, through different games, and with different leaders, and we have seen many people come and go but we are still going strong. If you like to log into the game, say hi in guild chat before hopping on Discord to get involved in whatever’s going on at the time, then we could be what you’re looking for!
So, we’d love to welcome like minded people, who want to get involved, who want to get to know us, and let us get to know them, and become part of our community!
If you have any questions, or are interested in joining, then feel free to contact one of us below, in game, or via our website.

We managed to pull 3 Races in our random Guild Missions this week. We met a series of unexpected obstacles in completing them, so I thought I’d share what I learnt and perhaps get some answers to the things that have confused me!
Firstly, upon completion of the Rush course, people weren’t transforming back to their normal form. Some it took seconds, some minutes, and on our first attempt, some gave up waiting completely. Not coming out of transformation = no progress towards completion. This is quite a big issue when you’re a small group on an 11 minute timer. I’m assuming this is some kind of bug, seen as it worked fine before xpac? Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone found a way to prevent it/ fix it? We just stood and waited, running back and forth through the finish line, it budged eventually, but it wasn’t fast…
Each guild activates the Rush for a timer which is personal to their guild. So, we sit at a flag and wait out the last 10 mins of the current Rush event, to activate our 30 mins event so we can be sure that we can get all our members through. But some other guy who has been queuing for the flag gets to it first, and activates his 11 min timer. So, now, we can either join him for 11 mins, and hope everyone makes it, or we can wait another 11 mins. This has proved incredibly inconvenient this week. So many people were doing Guild Missions on the days we chose this week, we spent so long just standing around waiting. I think it would have been much more beneficial if Rushes/Races were instanced like Puzzles and Challenge. It is a huge mess to organise Race at the moment.
I understand that the harder missions are providing ‘challenge’ for guilds, but this system is really not building Guild solidarity. No completion = no participation = no reward, even on an 11 minute timer. Perhaps it is my guild’s attitude to Guild Missions which doesn’t fit anymore…. it has always been an opportunity to help the new guys get some progress towards ascended gear. Now, if anyone wants any reward at all, the event must be completed. Now my guild is juggling between, run again to ensure event completion for the guys who did it already? or take a chance on the 4 new guys who are struggling through to the end. This is a really nasty choice to have to make, and yet, as Guild leader, I will have to make this choice every, single, week.
Things I have learned…
- You can run your Guild Missions as many times as you like during the week for free, if you want to promote Guild solidarity and support your members in getting rewards…
- There is no longer an ‘end chest’, only the pop up, ‘bonus’ box, above the mini map, containing your personal reward, if the event gets completed.
- If you get the Rush bug where you don’t transform after completion of the course, persevere, it could take a couple of mins, but everyone in my Guild transformed back eventually. (Double check you made it through all check points).
- You need to complete the Rush event within the Guild’s Race timer, to get credit. If you get one person through in 5 mins, even when your timer is 10 mins, upon (15/15) event completion (not the end of your Guild’s timer), that one person will get a reward, and the Guild will get credit if accepted (you still get the ‘Accept credit?’ dialogue box.
- Personal rewards are awarded to anyone who completes the Rush course within the Race timer, regardless of where they are in the world, and even when they are offline, when the event ends.
Things I am yet to test, if you have the answers please share them!
- I am unclear as to whether we still need someone to wait at the Rush for it to time out like we did in the past, to guarantee Guild credit. (Often, it used to fail unless we left someone at the event to receive credit). Has anyone experimented with that?
- I don’t know if the personal reward is exclusive to the first 15 who make it through? Or can we continue to get people through while the timer on the Rush event and the Race are still active?
Sorry it was a bit of a wall of text, but I hope what I learned is helpful to some, and if anyone has any input on my questions, or has anything else helpful to add that’d be great to hear!
Welcome to our new guys, some great new faces/ voices in our midst! But we’re always open to building on our community!
It’s less than a week until HoT launches and we’re packing the boxes and emptying the cupboards in anticipation of moving into a Guild Hall! If you’re still looking for a friendly community to be involved in then why not move in with us?! Too soon? Did we mention we love you? It’s ok, we’ll buy your Mum a bottle of red and she’ll give us her blessing!
We’re also preparing ourselves for Raids, this is something we are definitely going to get stuck into, so we are also looking for players who have a little experience with their class/es and would like to jump into experiencing Raids when they release! But the sense of humour and the social involvement is not optional… our raiders will be the complete package oh yeaahhhh.
… Now you know why Klaxx usually does the Guild Recruitment.
If you’d like to join us for FUN and make real FRIENDS and do RAIDS and MORE…dremoth … (punny, I know), then visit our website, or grab us in game!
Do it!

Wall of text… sorry. Hopefully there is something helpful in here at least.
This event had so much potential to begin introducing things HoT related. Mordremoth is invading, but with what? random vine crawlers spawning waves of mobs. From a story perspective, you have to ask why? This could have been a great way to introduce some villainous characters, ‘Generals’ of Mordremoth or something, leading the attacks. At least that way there would be some kind of structure to it from a story perspective. Considering how focused you were on the story of LS S2, to the point where those asking for challenging content (or improvement on the existing end game content) it was forsaken because of the importance of the Story, it is surprising that the story has been ditched so clumsily. A year ago, the focus was solely on the story. Now, there appears to be no focus at all.
Instead we are left with Mordremoth invading Tyria, apparently expecting to make an impression by spawning a couple of champs every now and then. If this is the beginning of his master plan, I don’t think he’s much of a threat, and honestly, if the events did fail, who cares? There are no ramifications. So maybe we should just our feet up and watch all the poor, new, f2p players run around like headless chickens thinking that somehow these events will benefit them? Because they mistakenly trust that huge zone-scale meta events wouldn’t be put in the game for absolutely no reason at all.
From a general player perspective, if these events included some of the new mobs we’ve seen in the beta, it could have been some helpful training for everyone to learn some new mob mechanics, and it could have built on the reason for the invasions.
From a veteran player perspective, it was nice to have a way to earn LS S1 rewards again, though some other of the rare S1 drops would have been nice to see, like Scarlet’s rifles, and better access to the triforge keys. But the grind… I am not opposed to grinding. In fact, when there are exclusive rewards, I welcome it. The items as rewards have meaning, and actually feel like a reward. I’m not even opposed to the number of blooms needed for the more expensive items. The gold needed, however, is over the top. Especially seen as, someone who has farmed these events long and hard enough to get enough blooms, has probably already spent a lot of gold on wps already. Although those items may have had that gold tag on them before, they did NOT have the wp fees necessary for the current events.
Rewards and pricing aside, grinding doesn’t have to be boring. But these are. SW is a good example of this. But these events are repetitive, there is no challenge, no team work, and it is every man for himself.
Also, forcing people to take a 30 minute break in between each invasion, then 1h 30 minute break before the next round actually proves more detrimental. I know that the intention is to force us to play in little chunks (because it’s better to be casual? because you want to deter hardcore farmers?)… but why do you get to decide how I play the game? For those farming these events for blooms, instead of getting each map done in 1h 30 mins (if they ran back to back) they actually spend 3 hours doing events.
30 mins isn’t long enough for anything. Dungeon tour, Fractal dailies, it’s not even long enough to do my grocery shop. I know I am not alone when I say that I think these events should be continuous (by all means put in a break every now and then if you really want us to go outside that badly…), but the current spoon feeding of events and all the waiting… is actually preventing a lot of people from getting the rewards they wanted, and it’s godkitten patronising having my game time managed for me…
It just baffles me that after what had been ‘learned’ and improved from last time is suddenly completely forgotten.
From a new player perspective, these events are at best, an inefficient use of time, and at worst, actually, encouragement to stop playing. There is no team play, no xp gain, no gold gain, no loot whatsoever… It would actually be more beneficial for a new player to complete the zone, which is actually a hell of a lot easier when there aren’t 50 people insta-killing the bandits you need to kill to complete a heart.
I really feel for the new guys, because this was specifically paired with the f2p drive, and the find a guild and be a part of a guild because look! these events are coming! But guilds have no place in these events, and neither do new players. In the end, if this is what GW2 living world events are like, then why should they bother playing at all? So much potential. Hopefully next time you will be building on the success of Silverwastes, to improve, and vary it further instead of falling back to the mistakes of 2012.

[VKO] Valiant Knight Order is a small friendly guild, hoping to grow! With the expansion on the horizon, we’re excited to expand our PvE activities into Raids, and Adventures, and all the new things that Heart of Thorns will bring us, and that means expanding our community too!

That kind of symbolism and suggestion means nothing to Anet.
A friend of mine is particularly disappointed by this addition, he has religiously purchased every node pack, and offers guild members their daily gatherer in his home instance, for which we are all very appreciative.
However, he is now faced with the almost impossibility of completing his home instance nodes, short of spending more than 3x the original amount of gold, but this time for just one node, instead of an entire pack. This would really be a group effort, earning gold and pooling it, to meet this kind of cost, and for what really? One daily achievement point that can be obtained anywhere in the game. It kind of puts things in perspective, I guess.
I personally was, like Mufasa, waiting for a node bundle sale, much like I did with the gathering tools. However, in the knowledge that I won’t be able to complete my home instance nodes, I’m no longer prepared to fork out the cash for the basic nodes. A completionist at heart, if I can’t collect them all, then I’d rather not waste any money at all.
Welcome to our new guys! We’re always looking for similar minded people to join us though! We’re currently getting stuck in in Silverwastes and helping some guys through their first Fractals! Guild Missions are on Saturday at 3pm GMT this week, so come and join us!

[VKO] Valiant Knight Order is a small gaming community, looking for new members to join us in GW2.
VKO is a long standing guild (celebrated our 7th Birthday in May!) born out of Guild Wars, with some existing members dating back to its inception. We are a friendly sociable English-speaking community, based on Seafarer’s Rest (EU) (GMT timezone).
In GW2, we recently said goodbye to some of our active players tempted away by new content in other games, so we are looking for people who are still enthusiastic about GW2, are active, and friendly, to join our little community.
We welcome all servers, classes, experience levels and all ages, but maturity is not optional; we log in to have fun, build friendships and play together. As a result we don’t tolerate immaturity or rudeness from our members. All of us have lives: school, homework, jobs to go to, and kids to look after. Thus, we’re looking for players who view their games as a place to log in and have fun with their guild.
What we offer;
- Friendly, helpful community
- PvE-centred Activities (Dungeons, Fractals, World Bosses, LS groups)
- Social Events (As an example, here were our Birthday celebrations and here.)
- Weekly Bingo!
- Training (in the most casual sense; we want to help you find confidence in running PvE content)
- Weekly Guild Missions
- TS3
- Forums <<< you can check us out before you join!
Our main activity is in Dungeons and Fractals. If you aren’t experienced, and would like to learn, please don’t be put off; we are happy to explain things, to those who want to learn.
What we expect from all our members, old and new;
- 99% representation (we realise that people have guild banks, and that we aren’t a big enough guild to co-ordinate teq/wurm events within guild. Therefore, additional membership with a guild that does, is acceptable, but only for those events. The reason for this is simple, we are primarily a social guild, and you cannot play with us, or get to know us if you aren’t representing the majority of the time.)
- Forum membership (all info about our events is on the website.) We are a gaming community so contact with the community happens online not in game.
- Involvement in guild activities, whether that be GMs or Dungeons, or simply getting to know people and chatting in guild chat.
- A mature, friendly attitude towards guild and non-guild alike.
- Guild Mission attendance where possible… it says a lot about a member who refuses to support their guild.
- Team work is expected in Dungeon/ Fractal runs. Although we will never tell you how you must build or gear your character, certain skills may be asked for on some occasions. We are always happy to teach these things, if people are unsure, so please don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Ultimately we are a community of friends, we’re laid back, and have a good laugh whilst playing the game together, and we’re looking for people who would like to join us, with a similar attitude.
If you have any questions, or are interested in joining, then feel free to contact me in game, or via our website.

I was hoping someone could help me out here, I tried CoE Teleporter path today, first time in CoE exp. It was a bit of a disaster really. Three of us were new to it and the other two kept tactics close to the chest… usually until we had found out the hard way.
Thanks for the stacking tip, that was never suggested by our ‘experienced’ party members and seems to be the prevalent tactic. We were all ranged classes and so kept our distance, there were times when the floor was entirely covered in aoe, the only way out was invulnerability from skills or a well timed dodge.
I read in another thread that was written months ago ‘mesmers beware’, I am now assuming this is because of clones… now this could explain some of our difficulty and the reason why that final room was almost entirely paved with aoes at times; aoes weren’t just x5 they were x8, 1 more for each active clone.
I just wondered if anyone could give me a firm positive or negative on this that’s up to date. Thinking about it now, that’s kind of the point actually isn’t it, with clones, they’re supposed to be just like the player so it does make sense they’d be targetted, I was just hoping for a definite ‘yes or no’ from some people with experience, before I launch into my next pug demanding that I and other mesmers create as few clones as possible.
Thanks in advance
Hey Osi! It is high time I say thanks for your guide, I have totally fallen in love with the mesmer after playing your original shatter build; totally perfect for me, and a great foundation for my own experiments!
I watched your latest video today, about using LOS and staff 2/ sw 3 to get up and down the environment. I was just wondering if you had any tips; often when I attempt this kind of movement, staff 2 ports me into the rock rather than on top of it! I wondered if you have any tips to avoid this?
It’s happened so many times, I have at least perfected the ‘getting out’ of the rocks (it’s happened enough, it’ll be known as a ‘Prax’ if I’m not careful lol) but, it would be nice for the flow of the fight if it didn’t happen in the first place!
Thanks for all your input, and continued sharing of knowledge!
You didn’t make an investment. No one did.
I think you just showed how broad your understanding of the english language is.
To devote morally or psychologically, as to a purpose.
Fine, if indeed you made a moral investment. But financially you bought what was written on that box. No more.
It is their responability to listen in this regard or offer us our money back. We accept they can do what they want with their game, they should respect that we bought it for our sakes and not theirs.
Before you criticise my English, perhaps you should take a look at your own…
If this game wants to be remembered fondly, it might want to scrutinise itself a bit more before handing us what they have done and asking us to accept it.
If you actually look at what they have done you would see that this whole patch is about ANet not settling for what they have already put forward. We are not being asked or forced to accept things as they are. They are trying to make changes for the better. The trouble is people are so selfish and single minded that they can’t comprehend anyone thinking differently to them, and instead of providing constructive criticism, see the forums as a place to vent all their pent up frustrations, and get so very angry.
If people could, instead of condemning them, recognise that ANet are not evil to the core, and are in fact trying to make fixes and improve their game for our benefit, this community and this forum would be a much better, respectful, and mature place.
Nobody ever said you cannot or should not be able to say whatever you want, just that you’re a dirtbag if you use that right for nothing but disrespect, childish complaints, and written/verbal abuse. Which is completely true.
Really? That is what you come back with?
How is it childish for someone to have a legitimate complaint about a product he purchased with his money? Now, if he is doing nothing but insulting, see quote above, I see the problem, but if he is only asking and doing so out of concern for his investment there is nothing wrong.
You didn’t make an investment. No one did. We purchased a game on a disc. We got that game and it is still there to play. We knew what was in the box when we bought it. It says nowhere that you are making an investment, or that the price you pay includes your right to complain about game modifications, it doesn’t even promise that there will be modifications.
However, since then ANet are doing their best to make that game even better. Yes they make mistakes sometimes, they’re human, but they also fix those mistakes. Like in this patch. And yet all they get is complaints about what ‘we deserve’ and ’it’s so unfair’ -throws toys out of the pram-.
We deserve the game that we bought on that disc. That’s what we paid for. That means, we deserve none of the following, or their imperfections, or their improvements; no fractals, no ascended gear, no seasonal events, no bug fixes, no new areas, no new tasks, no new story, no improved dungeons, no improvements whatsoever in fact, and I have no doubt I have missed out a hell of a lot from that list. I for one am going to accept and be thankful for all that new content that they have given me free of charge, and if I find an issue in that content, sure, I will bring it to their attention, but not for all to see, insult and rage over.
Even though this is a fact, and despite the general disrespect and ingratitude that we see daily about the smallest things here in the forum, ANet are STILL doing everything they can to bring us quality content, and fix the issues that hold us back. No one has a right to complain. At all. It’s like someone handing out free food and complaining that you didn’t get the five course meal you deserve.
If indeed there is a ‘gear treadmill’, it is not created by ANet, it’s created by players who come into gw2 with mentalities from other games.
Yes, it is going to take you a long time to get these things. It’s MEANT TO. You’re not supposed to be spending every waking minute working towards a goal of a full ascended set. That is such a small part of the game. You can only work towards it little by little because if you didn’t it would be a gear treadmill. ANet have done what they can to satisfy everyone, and still not turn the game into a clone of other mmo gear grinders.
You are supposed to play the game. Enjoy the game. Make friends, explore the world become good players. Along the way you’re going to pick up points and tokens and a bunch of other stuff, then, one day you’re going to realise that you can buy something with these things. I say ‘buy’ for want of a better word, the game owes you nothing for giving you enjoyment, just like ANet itself owes you nothing. But still, they give, and you can get better gear. It’s there if you want it. It is not necessary by definition in game. The only people that make it so are the players who look down on other players for not having the gear.
Solution: everyone needs to realise this is a game, not a living. It’s a game, if you don’t enjoy playing, it’s probably not the game for you. If you do, then play it! Don’t turn it into full time employment and look down on others when their ‘fun’ isn’t as hardcore or powerful as yours.
I actually think it’s a shame this has been removed and hope that it is brought back working reliably.
Combo fields and finishers are a hugely understated and generally unknown part of the game that can give a team in any dungeon or pvp (even just PvE with a friend) a great advantage. I suppose, at least, if no one can figure out how to do it I’ll always be on the winning team.
I just think it’s a shame that ANet try and show us an untapped resource they have provided but is being missed by the majority of their player base (because it involves a tiny amount of engaging the brain), and everyone yells bloody murder because after all, we don’t want to know how to play well, we want to stand in one place and press a succession of buttons, we want to play alone… in an mmo, heaven forbid we make friends or play with existing friends.
I can think of one mmo in particular that would be perfect for those of you who find thinking and planning and playing with friends a little too beyond your scope of ability, perhaps you would find that more enjoyable. You can even get mods to tell you which buttons to press if you so wish. But I can promise you, if you ever have a problem with anything THEY do, they will certainly not try to cater to your needs as ANet does, they will give you a big “kitten off, take it or leave it”.
I for one look forward to ANet introducing me to more untapped treasures in this game, playing actively in combat, and exploring the full abilities of a competent team.
In October I paid for a game. I received the game, it might have had it’s flaws and imperfections, but I have been playing and enjoying it.
Since then I have received a lot of extra content and I have not had to spend another penny. I’d like to remind everyone of that fact. All this stuff is free. We paid for the game in that box on that disc, however imperfect it might have been, we did not pay for the right to have our every wish granted for the rest of our lives.
We didn’t pay to have our personal preferences made priority over others, or to have a team of developers meet our every whim and fancy. They cater to a varied player base. For example, I love the pvp aspect, (though as I see clearly here, not all share that opinion), it’s a huge part of the game and if you don’t play pvp then you’re not exploring the whole game. Dailies and monthlies are there to point you in the right direction, to show you all the game has to offer. If you don’t want to play it, then you don’t have to. It’s your call.
I personally have already saved the cost of GW2 by retiring my subscription to my previous mmo, and somehow, I have come out of this transaction with an mmo which far succeeds the one I used to play, in just about every aspect, and it just keeps getting better.
ANet owe us NOTHING. Not a thing. Regardless of that fact, they keep giving. I for one am very grateful. So, thank you ANet, for being so generous, and providing us with such an amazing game.
