I pugged every dungeon easily... as a Ranger

I see so much complaining here. I swear either shills for the panda game or weak minded people. If neither, read, it will give some perspective.

COF path 1? No problem. I get pug groups all the time. We complete the path quick. I’m in no rush but it seems fast. Easy path no matter the group make up. 3 Rangers 2 eles. Check. Done it. Easy. Post on gw2lfg saying warrior mesmer, need to ping gear, blaaa blaa blaaa, I ignore them, still get good groups.

Class discrimination? Ignore it. Go for other post. Or post. LFG any path.

Works for me. I’m a RANGER. One of the most shunned dungeon classes. I group no problem.

I have a Mesmer and Warrior alt. I prefer using them in open world stuff. I geared out my mesmer in TA Armour, COF swords, sorrows pistol, The Kodan greatsword.

During the weekends going to run some more with my Ranger and gear out my Warrior.

Maybe someday I’ll do the story modes with my alts so I can enter explorables with them. This is a must because if you pug and others entrances are closed you need to be able to enter.

I got the Dungeon Master title all with Ranger.

Ignore the bad paople on gw2lfg.com, find people like me.

I will pug any dungeon with any mix of classes. There are many many many like minded players like me. Stop complaining, find them.

I’m not a harsh person, just want to vent. Find me I always have fun running dungeons.

I love dungeons, one of my favorite parts of the game.

See you in the dungeons!

Really Lupicus, Really!?

Not so much a nerf, but when my most recent party was fighting against Lupicus, he would only seem to target one of us, kill us, and then once they were finally revived, drop whatever he was doing and simply go back to slaughtering the one person. The damage he does is fine, as it is an endgame dungeon, it would just be nice if the boss could once in a while switch targets maybe ;_;

That’s actually good though. While he’s concentrating on one the other 4 nail him. If you notice he’s on you a lot turn away from him and run and dodge (found this on a video). If you die, team go’s to 3 1 revive strategy I outlined in previous post.

If he focuses again, repeat.

I did every explorable path with a PUG using my RANGER. Some are very difficult but just right(I’m talking to you Subject Alpha). That aoe delay gets me all the time haa haa.

If they are difficult to the point where you need a guild to complete then I’ll have an issue.

Guilds now have bountys and stuff.

Lupi is not hard to most players once you have his pattern down and a solid plan.

Watch some youtube guides to get familiar with his attacks

As a Ranger I do this.

1) Trait for toughness and vitality
2) Get off the Omnoberry bars. Use food that increases downed health. I’m not logged in and forget the name but look up the one that gives 100 percent more downed health. This eliminates instant kills.

3) When one goes down. One rezzes while 3 kite him in a different direction.

4) Search and rescue skill actually works good here.

5) Use the sigil for plus ten percent against undead on your weapons.

6) use potion for plus ten percent damage against undead. this potion also gives minus 10 percent damage received.

This helps me win against him.

Trust me I know your pain. Subject Alpha has my number haa haa. I stink against him.

Keep trying. He’s fun once you have him down.

I like the changing dailies and updates.

I like that the dailies change everyday. Yesterday Rezzed 10 npcs at bloodfields.

Today killed 5 vet young Karkas, gathered ore, got dodges killing vets, ported to lions arch made ignots (Ima jeweler).

Went to Orr did 5 events.

Fun fun. Change it up on me tomorrow.

5 Champ day? I hope.

So far happy with the updates. Gonna check out the new DEs tommorow.

Not sure if I want to get the 2nd place cat or cat tonic first, then an ascended necklace.

So far very happy.

get yourself useful in a party. this means don’t wear magic find gear. it’s selfish and you’ll just be a baggage. use proper armor and just use magic find consumables, if you still insist.

I Said I GAVE UP using magic find runes, jewelry and food. Maybe our frequencies didn’t match up. My apologies if I wasn’t clear.

I’ve always found that I’ve had bad RNG on any games I play. I used magic find runes and food and still didn’t get much. I stop using them and got some good stuff but overall my RNG luck is still bad.

I noticed with of without magic find things still seemed the same. I started using other runes.

I love it! I use centaur runes on two of my characters and once my Warrior is 80 I’ll get Doylak runes for them. Not sure what to get my thief when they are leveled.

All those other runes do cool stuff. I also use my master chef and make other foods. Higher downed health is a good one. Or the one where you get health for kills. When alot of minions are dieing it helps.

I opened my eyes, I suggest you do too. Give up the magic find addiction.

Just wanted to share. If you are hesitant make a second set of Armour and experiment. You won’t be sorry!

Champions loot is still terrible!

I was having fun until the WoW crowd showed up demanding I link my gear every time I want to run a dungeon or instance. Now the narcissism of elitist gamers has run off the rest of my guild to other games, and the players who are left are either too casual or too hardcore of roleplayers to provide a meaningful team orientation.

I’m not sure if it’s occurred to some people yet, but in Guild Wars (1 or 2), your gear doesn’t have to be uber to win; the player does. When some of the basement-dwelling hardcore gamers learn to get over themselves—or return to WoW—some common sense might pervade the atmosphere of Lion’s Arch once again.

If you’re on Yaks or I see you in overflow I’ll play with you. Use whatever gear you want. I never ask. I just have fun. People who do what you said I don’t play with.

They should just make champions and veterans mobs in the open world drop the tokens from the new fractal dungeon. That alone will certainly make people head for champion when someone does a shoutout over map chat.

Name them. Give them a chance for a unique drop. Just a skin that’s level appropriate. Stats can be transmuted later. Like the Champion boar, one of my favorites. Name him Buttons or somesuch and a weapon or Armour skin that’s Queensdale level. If it looks nice I’d transmute it.

Opinion: Orr and Southsun Cove are player unfriendly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Orr is easy to get around so far for me.

Ranger has pet take agro, find a quiet spot, switch pet. Old pet disappears new pet appears by you. Mobs lost you at this point.

Mesmer use stealth and the mantra that remove conditions.

As for southsun cove.

Know your paths. I can walk all around there with no speed boost or distraction skills and never get aggro at all. You can practically walk betweens the mobs unlike some parts of Orr.

So Far I got one character to lvl 80 and a 2nd one to lvl70. I’ll be making a warrior too since I got super hyper beam alpha as a drop in the FOTM. The Dolphin and Cat golem fractals are my favorites.

Sooooo much content. I did some wvw and want to do more. Got map completion.

I got AC and CM story mode done.

I still have to get the rest of the story modes done and the explores too. Also have not done spvp yet. Going to try eventually.

Oh and defeat Zaitain too. At his doorstep just didn’t do it yet.

I have a lot to do still and more and more keeps arriving.

The Karkas were invaded by the Consortium. Intelligence said they had wmd. I didn’t make it but did mop up operations afterwards.

Just based on the amount of stuff to do and new things that keep getting added more than worth the 60 bucks I spent.

Also they are fixing things up. One word patience.

I never really minded underwater combat, but hear numerous complaints here. But the underwater fractal is the most underwater fun I’ve had so far. It may win underwater detractors over.

fist run I turned into a dolphin and had to evade krait. Awesome fun.

Second run after freeing prisoners I was like “Dolphin time!” but instead had to do the part with illuminated plants instead.

So you think missions are layed out the same but they vary.

Take the nine fractal I bet there’s at least 3 subsets of each one.

Underwater one gets my good review.

Would this have been better (hypothetical update)

Ptaki.3715

Would this have been a better update?

Same

1) new dungeon
2) new area
3) new mission
4) new backpiece on par with an exotic. As far as I know there only 2 backpieces not realizing the full potential of that piece.

5)new events

Different. Instead of the power creep

1) One new land weapon and one new sea weapon with different skills. Release others with future updates.

2) New elite and 6-9 skills. Maybe require a mission or to kill a named boss to get. Miss that from GW1.

3) Named weapons with new skins from Bosses. Not just in update areas but in older dungeons. Miss that from GW1 also. This way people still visit old dungeons.

4) Legendary Armour. Same stats as exotic. Normal armour, plus some skimpy stuff for women. People will definitely make that and play to farm for that.

5) New town clothes and bikinis. Skimpy and moderate. It is an update with a beach vacation theme lol.

6) New Ranger pet to collect. Ima Ranger and biased. This needs to be in every new area added lol.

Discuss.

Rangers should be able to reveal thieves

in Ranger

Posted by: Ptaki.3715

Ptaki.3715

My solution which also adds variety and keeps people from using bear all the time.

Have the active pet give you a passive ability.

Bears extra toughness.

Canines, extra move speed. Like the Theives 25 move speed boost.

Birds, see stealthed.

Drakes a resistance to majic.

This way its not op because you wouldn’t choose it all the time.

For example. Doing wvwvw. Take the drake for aoe resist and canine for move speed for capping pursuing enemies. All spots used up.

Or take Bird to see stealth and canine for speed but you lose other bonuses.

Theif attacks and stealths switch to bird and see but now your slower and he can outrun you. Or if he kills bird you can’t see. The possibilities are endless.

I know it won’t happen but one can dream. Would be nice. We got kittened on camo and rampage as one bringing out three pets.

PVE: Are Rangers Boring?

in Ranger

Posted by: Ptaki.3715

Ptaki.3715

To answer your question.

No they are not boring. My main is a level 80 ranger. I have a blast. Whoever says they only use shortbow number one that’s there own fault. I use traps, spirits, different animals then the bear, Greatswords, pretty much everything. It was fun doing map completion and collecting the animals as I found them. i purposely did not look up any pet spoilers so I had to find them.

Now elementalist I actually found boring.

Thief isn’t bad but I just started it.

Mesmer is fun. Not as fun as the ranger. Almost done leveling her. 61 so far.

Warrior seems fun but I deleted it cause it was charr. They move weird, didn’t like. I’ll roll it a human in the future and try it again.

So I tried a bunch and hands down love the Ranger. I like having an animal buddy and wrecking monsters.

This would have made the whispers story better

in Personal Story

Posted by: Ptaki.3715

Ptaki.3715

I did the first run through with the Durmond Priory. At claw island my mentor the British lady died (Sorry forgot characters name). second run through My order of whispers mentor dies, poor Leftpaw.

So I guess my third play though with the Vigil my mentor will die too.

Here’s how this story change could have made all three different and have a better impact.

Claw islands over, Leftpaw dead. The later the mission happens when the Chantry is attacked. Instead of revealing that the girl is the head of the order they should have had Leftpaw show up as the head person.

The whole story he told before fake sacrificing himself was kitten to throw Zaitan off because he had sources that told him the chantry was going to be attacked after claw island, also the coward thing was a cover story since he really was in charge. The whole getting field work was a setup to get him back out because of the whole dragon thing.

This makes it better two ways.

1) if you played a previous order first you would think he’s worm food and be totally surprised and it fits good with the order of secrets.

2) If you played Whispers first, on 2nd play though you would think mentor was coming back and they wouldn’t. This would make the death have impact.

That’s my opinion. Discuss.

Metrica Province had one other player. The big Fire Elemental just danced a lonely dance in the reactor.

Do you know the solution to that? I do this and it works all the time. Initiate.

I’ll give you mt last example of this. I’m doing hearts leveling my mesmer. Some heart about mess up the orges and their camp. I get to the camp and see two other people avoiding the Orge champion and destroying the furniture to fill their heart.

I take the lead and start attacking without saying anything to the other two. All the sudden they start attacking. I don’t even blink and out of nowhere now it’s like seven people. He keeps going back to full health. Later discovered to be because he was at the edge of his leash range. Lured him into camp killed him. This took 10 minutes to discover though. Originally thought it was the banner he was dropping. While this was happening we were chatting locally and map shouts for help were going out.

In the end there was 15 to 20 people there.

I do this all the time. I can be somewhere and see a champ by himself with no one around and just start hit and running, the people magically appear.

Seems to be people see the health bar go down a tick and start flocking there.

with my lvl 80 I did this with the champ giant in orr.

I also did this with the champ giant shart in orr. Map shout jumped in water my self, started hitting, People showed.

I do this EVERYWHERE.

Try it sometime.

I feel the same way. I switched to three different servers, and I rarely see any players roaming around, there are bots, but not players. People say they are at Cursed Shore. No they are not. Also could be the poor selection of servers I picked. Cursed Shore and areas around have no day pressence. Neither does WvW.

You think a server that shows High to Full 24/7 would have people in them? They do not. If you do run in a group of players, most likely they are sitting in Lions Arch or Cursed Shore AFK.

So I need a server with a huge day pressence, that speaks english in chat, and on Vent. Any Ideas. this server hopping is annoying? I would like to settle in a guild that does PVE groups as well as WvW on a daily with a huge day pressence.

Come to Yaks Bend. I always post replies to these server this that dead threads, cause when I play my lvl 80, 51 and 7 toon I always see people everywhere I go. I’m still calling shills (see some of my replies.)

I’m on Yaks Bend. No matter when I play or which zone I’m in I always see people. I honestly think the people yelling there is nobody or game dieing are in two groups.

1) Want like 20 or more people around them no matter where they are at all times.

2) Shills for another game to hurt this game. Read up on it. A quick google search will find some interesting stuff. Do you know like 33 percent of reviews are intentionally bad made by the competition? You can’t believe everything you read on the internet.

The young think everything they read on the internet is gospel.

Another fun fact. Do you know it’s possible that wikipedia is inaccurate sometimes? It’s not always right.

Did the waspqueen event, Champion spider, and my favorite one in the zone The Big kitten Pig. Escorted some people too. It was pretty lively there.

I got a level 80 Ranger. Taking two alts through the game now. Mesmer is level 39 and theif is level 8. When I do events with any of the three in any zone high or low level I see people all of the time when I do DEs. Just today I did the Ettin disguise event, rescue once disguise goes bad event. Clear the dredge out of mine for priory and many others. Beat a couple champions, many veterns. All with plenty of people around.

I don’t know how true these other posts about no people to do events are. Paid panda people to make negative posts? I read that that happens. Or do people have 3 to 20 other people around and don’t think its enough and should be like 50 around?

What gives? I see plenty of people.

Most of the complaints are from people who are something other than warriors or guardians.

Which made for an interesting post hypothesizing that because those were the most popular classes, AreaNet balanced the quests for them and forgot about the others.

Checking back into the thread. My reply would be that there are Rangers (myself included) and Elementalists agreeing with me also. The difficulty is not bad.

I disagree with other threads and say the difficulty level for personal story is fine. I’m having a lot of fun. I die sometimes but other times I survive and it’s a blast. My last mission was shutting down the corpse factory. Pulled too many enemies. All my npcs died. I hid. Rezzed them all. Regrouped and won.

Usually I die as a result of a mistake. I pull to many enemies or don’t keep the npcs alive. Yes doing that helps a lot, keep that in mind.

As a Ranger I die, but eventually get by. I don’t die that much. My strategy when I get overwhelmed and with claw island. Kite a lot, dodge a lot, have pet work on mobs while laying traps. Especially frost and spike to slow them down. Switch pets as much as possible. Don’t stay with bear. I use hyena and raven. Rampage as one when mob tries to slow you down (ie cripple etc.).
