Guild Wars 2

I have to admit, I had been pondering playing around with sword and axe as the switch from my greatsword. Reading this is making me strongly second guess this. The main thing that gives me pause is that stupid evade movement. I hate my character moving without my having initiated and run it. I end up facing weird directions and in places I didn’t always intend.

I am tired as a ranger of pants and trenchcoats. I would love something a bit more diverse.

Not a pet hater, but there are too many instances in which a pet is useless and nothing but dead weight. If they wouldn’t let us simply stow the pet long term and give us a boost to white damage to compensate for having no pet out, this crap is apparently what they think we get.

They could have done a efficient loner spec, so we didn’t have to deal with a pet at all if we were doing something that made them a liability. Screw fusing with it. Just let us do our thing without it and give us the extra damage that our pet “would” be delivering. Simple.

Not seeing anything about Soulbeast that makes me feel the need to use it. I’ve been a Berserker Ranger since the pre start. Druid was something I shouldn’t have wasted the points to get. I have 4 other toons, but I don’t play them. I play a Ranger. That’s it. This expansion has not shown me anything that it is worth buying. Perhaps that’s my cue to step aside from the game for a while.

The city was pretty. Not much else to keep me in the game. The story was, meh. I never played GW1. I could care less. Wandering around on foot in that desert was, boring. I don’t do mini games, so a lot of masteries will be out of reach, as well as anything that requires a mount. That’s not going to be something I most likely will be able to use. I maybe spent an hour total in the demo zone.

I have had no problems with mounts in the other games I have played that had them (Warhammer and WoW). I was even a feral Druid in Wow and so had flight form. No issue. GW2, I do have problems if I step away from the game for a decent amount of time. Then, the character and camera movements take a bit before my brain settles down. I cannot circle strafe, that makes me sick. I cannot deal when the camera moves in and out on its own when in tight places. That makes me sick. Gliding I had no problems with. I can half strafe (with leaning), so I can modify my turning enough to make it work for me. The mount just combines everything that is going to make my brain go wonky. Weird camera movements, no strafing, so I cannot modify my turns the way I do with my character. I tried it. I just ended up running all over that kitten desert, which was clearly not what the game intends for you to do.

I never hated doing the hearts, until the started resetting them. That, has made me finish a zone completion, do the story for it, then f it. Never go back. It’s too much like gaining faction in Wow and I despise that crap. I did it once to get my flight form back for the new zones in Warlords of Draenor, and that was it.

Nope. I will never do any of them. I won’t even try for achievements that involve them.

Unfortunately, not everyone can or will use the mouse to steer. I cannot as it makes my MS much worse. I purposely use strafe as a major positioning tool in my character movement, as it is less problematic for some reason (probably less turning). The mount gets me with camera, as well as the turning of the mount. Even with the camera all the way out (which is my default) I still can’t watch the mount.

I went down a few times, but rallied. I will admit, I didn’t look in my inventory and ran what I got (longbow/GS ranger). Although I did slot a second pet. That probably made it more difficult, as I simply played as I usually play on my ranger. I opened the boxes after the fights were over and then sort of got my toon adjusted to what my main is.

For the comment about what we do with playing other games with MS: I don’t. I won’t touch a FPS with a 10 foot pole. I can’t even watch people playing one. I played, Warhammer (Age of Reckoning), DAoC, and Wow. That’s it. And, I still get a burn in time to adjust when I leave off a game for a while and come back to it.
The mount issues are enough that I will not be able to play. I guess it will save some ducats.

I attempted the raptor again, and had a bit more success, but the way I had to do it will not be very usable when actually playing the game. I had to watch the small map and keep my looks to the main screen to a minimum. Not a good way to run. I just can’t focus on my character when I am riding. When I do that, my brain gets very angry.

I made it less than 1 minute on the raptor and got a headache. Not only is the turn seeming;y not in synch with what I am doing with the buttons, I cannot strafe. I use strafe as a major part of my movements for my characters. I use my keyboard to turn. I cannot use a mouse to run my character. The camera changes required to do that make me sick. Somehow you need to get the movement of the mounts to a similar reaction to our characters. And please add strafe in for them. Then, at least we don’t have to turn constantly.

My husband and I discovered this today. Totally not worth doing all those hearts again and again. I have map completion. I am done with the hearts. And pretty much this zone.

I so agree. Self doubt with ranger longbow was a beast. Nice seeing my pets get offed in one shot. And no ability to dodge the hands, even if it said I evaded. The puzzles at the beginning I just waited until someone put a cheat up. I would have been at them for hours. I was trying to do the achievements, but I am not sure it is possible.

I suicided into both point of interest areas by the centaurs. There was no one else there doing anything. I have never seen anyone else there. I showed my husband how to get there last night. He went for the easier lower one first, got surrounded and I went in to help him. We sat there killing centaurs for 10 minutes. They just keep spawning. Let’s just say that the loot from all that was less than impressive. I told him how to get to the spiral point via the Watchers Hollow rear exit. He got in there, got the point died, and we never have to go back there.

I sell every one I get. If Arena Net would let me sell all of the stupid account bound crap, I would be grateful. I will NOT craft. At least let me get rid of all this garbage in a way that is good for me.

I feel your pain. Between a lack of patience and avoiding nausea inducing camera swings, there are things I cannot do. I don’t like not being able to get achievements and other things because of this. I can overcome the patience issue, but not the other. I get to the point I am sick due to camera fun, and I am down with my eyes closed for hours.
Because of this, I have been unable to get the stupid diving achievement. My husband got it when you didn’t have to do that infernal one Not So Secret. I got lucky and a kind person ported us up to the puzzle end, but after I got to the diving spot, I missed the water by a hair. Haven’t been back since. I can’t get the achievement until I somehow get this one kitten spot.

I believe this article also posited ideas about added elite specs. Something about becoming one with our pets. I ran with this idea. I would love to be my cat. But, then again, I was a feral druid in WoW. I would like them to take bears, cats, and moas. Let us turn into them. Give us new moves as the animal. Bears can be the tank, cats the dps, and moas the heal spec. Perhaps it is too Wow like, but I miss that part. I spent 90% of my time in cat form. I just think it would mesh well with the Druid, really becoming part of nature.

I liked dual axes in some dungeons scenarios. I kept them in my inventory when my guild was running dungeons frequently. I also had a greatsword, shortbow and longbow in my bags too. Beserker spec (this was before HoT). I had fun with it. Never really went beastmaster, but play what is comfortable for you. If you find a spec YOU are happy with, enjoy it. There is a reason I play with my 4 friends. Play what you want, how you want. We have an individual who is the first to die at every boss fight. We still don’t tell him how to play, We accept him. We just make it work. It doesn’t look pretty, but we don’t care.

I don’t find it clunky, but I do find it less useful. I find I am using 1, then an occasional 2, with a 4 if a breakbar is up. That’s it. Never use 3 and 5 rarely.
However, I don’t use my staff in WvW, so perhaps those would be more useful there.
For the most part, it’s just a disappointing weapon.

Personally, I never hated doing the hearts. They were part of the map completion process. This resetting makes it more difficult for map completion and reminds me way too much of the rep farming in WoW. Forced into it there just to get my flight form in the new lands. Now, it feels as if I am doing that stuff again. Wasn’t my cup of tea in WoW and won’t be here.

If you mean you can’t save enough in game gold to buy gem, that’s precisely the point. Better pull out that credit card…

A surprising number of people have jobs and bills that can make that extra $10 for something fluffy and shiny hard to scrape up. Credit cards are not the solution in that case.

I am trying to figure out what a once a week 5 man guild can even do in this game anymore. They seem to have made it impossible for a small guild to function. I’m starting to look into it, but it just doesn’t seem to be very possible as some of my members are not very….good. I have to be careful of content so I don’t upset friends. Perhaps, it’s just time to step away for a while. At least Uthgard will be up in under a week so maybe we can get some old school DAoC in to ease the building frustrations of GW2.

I was glad they changed the spot. I could not glide to anywhere but the vista at the end of the Mordremoth event. Moving it made it possible for me to get, as it will most likely be close to the end of the year or longer to get advanced flying (I only play once a week).

I only really use Point blank Shot. I’ve tried Barrage thinking cripple might count in some way, but I haven’t seen it do anything to a break bar. As for pets, meh. Half the time I don’t quite know where the thing is. I gave up micromanaging pets back in my Warhammer days (at least there I could go loner spec). Sorry, I use a longbow. And pretty much only a longbow, as my 5 person guild doesn’t really do dungeons anymore, I don’t have to switch like I used to. I have a staff as my second weapon, but I don’t really use the blinking thing. I got the druidy things for the achievement, not to use. Sorry, I would respec for a dungeon, but not for dragon or meta event.

After beta, Headstart and some furious playing for a year and half. I took 6 months off, because I was getting bored. Husband decided to introduce me to WoW. Enjoyed it until we got tired of paying the monthly fee. Came back on, pretty much log on, do the daily, Teq, maybe a couple of other world bosses, then log off. I don’t craft (can’t stand the concept of working in a game), and my guild of 5 doesn’t usually run dungeons and we won’t touch fractals. WvW happens if my husband can drag me out with him, and no way in Hades will I step foot in sPvP (got my fill of that elitist crap in Warhammer). So far, this is the go to time kill. Don’t know if we’ll buy the expansion. There is simply nothing else interesting out there.

Personally, I would love better pet implementation, but I’ve played too many games where the pets are bad, so I am used to it. I would simply appreciate a pet only heal that I can use. Many times I would much rather not blow my personal heal just to heal my kitten pet, who is constantly in need of a big heal, or dead. If the pet is such a big part of being a ranger, then let me heal the blipping thing.

I play my Ranger main almost exclusively. I had the luck of playing with my husband whose main is a well based necro. I learned quite early not to use LB4, ever! As an interrupt, it has some use on certain targets, but otherwise, there is little point in that button even being present. And, I rage when some kitten knocks something away when I am using my GS the same as everyone else.

Unless they give me much greater control over my pet, ooh, how about a decent pet heal, what is the point of merging with a soon to be dead pet. I just don’t see it functioning.
I rather liked an option that my White Lion had in Warhammer. I could choose to run with my lion, or go loner spec with a change in runes. The idea that the loner spec would give you back a decent percentage of your dps to make up for the fact that your cat, who was usually across the zone doing….something, isn’t out. Was nice to concentrate on RvR instead of wondering why my lion was in Dragonwake and not Caledor where I was.

Well, I think the transformation would be cool. But then again, I enjoyed my feral Druid in WoW. I pretty much stayed in cat form. If Guild Wars continues to suck the life out of my ranger (my main, and almost the only one I play) then I may have to re-up my Blizzard account.

We came back because we had paid for it, and there is nothing better out there. Sad, but true.

Why oh why can we not be able to sell these crafting materials? All they are doing is taking up space in my collections and bags. As someone who is almost always low on gold (was playing with 2g for quite a while), I could use a new revenue stream, not just more crap I have to destroy. My one crafter is a jewelcrafter. I have no desire to level up in artificing, because it is expensive and pointless (at least to me).
Sorry for the rant, but I get tired of destroying account bound stuff that other people want.

My husband and I just were in the Labyrinth and helped to kill the Viscount twice and neither of us got the achievement for it. The other bosses went just fine.

I still run my ranger. Thank god I am in a small guild that will take me in a dungeon or wvwvw. But I take this class like most I choose. I play it. But this is from a person who ran a swordmaster and archmage (healing) in war hammer, so maybe I am just a masochist.

Just tried path 2 in this today. The Alpha is impossible when you have a group that can’t manage to rez a downed person, or dodge. After 3 hours we gave up on the last battle with the Alpha. Granted, we are a crap group. We are a group of friends who play on Sundays to do do dungeons. We have a beefy necro, a glass cannon engi, a burst specced warrior, me ( a ranger that will either go berserker or condition specced, whichever is needed) and another friend who brings either a mesmer or another engi.
Doing dungeons with this group can be a kitten, even with all of us on Skype.
This one, I am not looking forward to doing on yet another weekend.

I had some nice looking armor before I hit 80 and started getting my exotic wear. Everything is this stupid short skirted coat with short sleeves. Gack, so ugly. But, it’s what I roll with. There isn’t anything better, and I dislike the idea of buying armor just for a different look (no change in stats). Seems a waste of gold, which is in short supply anyway.

My group can’t even get into the dungeon. It won’t let us in as a group. At all. We have disbanded, logged out, tried to group up with someone in the dungeon. Nothing. We aren’t even getting a dungeon invite when a party member steps in. Very nice. We are trying to do these dungeons in story in order for questline continuity, but this is stupid. We can’t even get into the kitten thing.

My fern hound is Foliage and my eagle is Death from Above….Other than that my spiders are named after nuts….Walnut, Pecan, etc…

I am also a keyboard turner. I can do the other jumping puzzles, but this one is a no go.
I simply get too stressed when I cannot have my fraction of a moment to fine tune my jump. Only once did I even make it to the beams, the rest failed shortly after the pause.
Not my cup of tea. And, I am somewhat bummed that this is an achievement I will never get. Oh well, c’est la vie.

My husband I got through to the boss in this mini, and the darn thing was invulnerable the whole time, even with all the braziers lit. Nothing did a thing to that creature.

I can easily explore lower areas without much problem. Taking some extra time to walk around the mob might be a pain to you, but then, you won’t chance getting mobbed to death. I am a ranger also. Quite squishy. You don’t have to fight everything that presents itself to you. Now some areas like skill points, may have a higher level mob to take down, but you should be able to do it with the extra skills you get as you level.

There is the big personal quest line that you have. That gets pretty epic later on. There are also daily gathering and kill quests that when you complete them give you xp and a little extra. Exploring the zones completely and grabbing mining/forestry/gathering nodes can give you extra xp and keep things a little varied.

I tend to keep 2 pets in mind for switching. 1 for melee and 1 for ranged, or 1 for healing and 1 for damage/good buffs.
That way, I am usually not too peeved by one dying and having to switch. I just switch on the fly use that pet and get out the other when it’s back up.
There are a lot of pets out there, which do very different things. I would recommend charming everything in your path so that you can find your perfect 2 pet combo.

I have been getting them also. I have used the same way to report chat spam, with a twist. I have to add the person as a friend, then right click on them, report them for spam, then block them. Blocking then deletes them from your friend list.
