Way to lower my MMR

This will probably get me flamed but whatever…

I need to know a legal, within the games T&Cs, of lowering my MMR. I don’t think it is very high anyway but I seem to being grouped with players that are far better than me all the time.

I get shouted at by players on my team for being so rubbish and laughed at by the opposition for the same reason. This is in unranked where I thought things would be less serious.

Now I did enjoy PvP in this game but if this continues then I can only assume I must be so bad so that I can’t even compete against the lowest MMR players out there so I will have to stop playing. If not for my own sanity then to stop annoying the unfortunate players that get stuck with me on their team.

All I can say is getting hit by 3k D/P AA’s or speeded S/D AA’s I know what I’d prefer. Have a feeling D/P (as for D/D – good luck to them, they need all the help they can get) AA is gonna get some serious QQ…

OK what I got from the replies (my thanks to you helpful people!) is that without changing my elite the thing to aim to do is to dodge through the traps BUT try to end the dodge outside of the trap’s ring.

Have tried this (quite successful, still need more practice) and so long as you then immediately avoid their pull (another dodge, sword 2 return, short bow 5 / 3) you can then wait for the traps to finish and then go to town.

But, as reikken said, you may well have to do it all again.

Conclusion is if there is something else I can usefully do, do that and don’t bother with the fat boy sat on his kitten traps!

Guessing the answer is to not bother but is there a way for a S/D thief to take on a Dragon Hunter sat on his traps on a point? I just get melted so fast…

Ahhhh crud you’re kidding? Well….least it can work in PvE now I guess.

Ehmm … I’m either not competent at reading the patch notes or this is about to get fixed, because I’m 90% sure I was getting rallied whenever a Bone Minion / Jagged Horror of me died just now. I rallied 3 times in a row and was still surrounded by enemies.

So…wait are enemies rallying off our minions or are we rallying off our minions, or both?

Can’t be sure about enemies, as I’m not an experienced MM and still get confused by so many NPCs around me, but I am definitely rallying out of nowhere and I always hear Death Novas sound effect accompanying it. On the other hand enemies didn’t seem to rally more often than before.
And no Death Nova doesn’t one-shot my enemies.

Me neither. Need someone with an arena to be certain but I am fairly sure people rallied when my minions died.

Hi,

Was playing Stronghold for the first time yesterday and am well confused by it all.

1.5k Condition Damage, 2k Power, 28k health and 22k Life Force. Regularly get 15 stacks of Might too.

GM traits in Curses & Soul Reaping are not fixed.

Although no precision I have had no problems proccing Plague Sending.

OK I am not sure about it not going on full cool down – not sure if dodge rolling is the same as interrupting or cancelling. I have had it interrupted many times and seem to remember it not going on full cool down but can’t be certain.

Anyway, what about the other points?

I am hoping that 3 and 4 don’t apply as the skill never completed (ie. the Vulnerability and other condition only get applied at the very end of the skill).

I know there are many posts about the Consume Conditions changes but I couldn’t find a definitive answer to the following questions.

What if your Consume Conditions get interrupted?

It’s very common in PvP so I am wondering if:-

1. It will still go on full cool down (I am assuming yes).

2. You don’t remove any existing Conditions (I am assuming yes).

3. You will also get the 10 stacks of vulnerability added to whatever other conditions you already had.

4. If you slot the trait you also get the additional Condition?

If 3. and 4. apply that all seems a little unfair. Players are already well used to interrupting a Necro’s heal so this will give them all the more incentive to do so.

Hi,

Necro’ing a quite old thread but I have a question that I can’t work out the “correct” answer to and this thread seems to be where it should be asked.

If you have been downed when should you be a “try hard” and try to revive yourself (with Bandage) and when should you just let yourself die and rez? Is it actually quicker to bleed out (even if you aren’t being hit by anything) and rez than it is to just die?

Now I know there are circumstances when you should “try hard” – when there is a chance of a team mate reviving you or when you can kill whoever downed you (yes, I do main Necro, no I am not running power so my down state maybe better than most but it isn’t a 100-0 that teef jobby!). However, I am still not certain of when to die and when to bandage.

Maybe time for another one of your excellent and very helpful vids, Terror?

OK returning to the original post…

I did run full Dire / Perplexity in WvW roaming and, if I’m honest, it doesn’t save you.

IF you are with a havoc group you MAY last a little bit longer when you are (inevitably) focussed.

If you are solo-roaming and you get caught by more than 1 player of equal or greater skill on any of the popular WvW roaming specs you will die, regardless of if you are full Dire or not. If you go more glassy (read Carrion) you have a fair chance of taking one of them with you…

OK after what Bhawb said I did some testing in the Mists with just using BiP, CB and CPC.

After trying in excess of 50 times I have to say Eremite is correct – at least for those three conditions (Bleeding, Poison and Weakness).

I was wondering about the order Conditions were prioritised when it decides which Condition to remove. I know it used to prioritise Fear so was wondering now that FitG will remove Fear what is next.

I was hoping beyond hope that it would be Immobilise.

After some testing with Rhaz from SwAg (Hiya all in SwAg!) and as far as we can tell it does NOT prioritise Immob. The order seems to be Weakness -> Poison -> Immob -> Chill -> Bleed -> Vulnerability.

We never got around to testing Cripple / Confusion / Burn / Blind / Torment so if someone else has the time it would be nice to get a definitive list.

I was really only interested to see if Immobilise was number 1 and as soon as it became apparent that it wasn’t, I sort of lost interest in both the testing and the Trait!

Hope this is useful to people, if it isn’t then apologies for wasting 5 minutes of your life you will never get back!

This is the only build I can comment on as I don’t play a power necro in PvP. I would say it’s good but, like you, I am not sure about that Torment sigil. Personally I would swap it for another Energy sigil as you can’t have too many dodges.

Those runes are good although a little more defensive than the Mad King ones.

What I am trying to get is more of a “hybrid” build as too many times when roaming I come across builds specifically designed as anti-condition.

“that huge burst denial” does happen but not very often.

For Safe Stomps, the new FitG lets you use that as you would use the old Plague Form.

So I can loose the Plague Form Safe Stomps for the less reliable Shroud Stomps + extra CC from Fleshy (and +damage from the Runes).

All things considered, I vote for Fleshy!

Heres a thought: if youre a roaming terrormancer, why not try using flesh golem+ runes of the Sunless?

Edit: Also I recommend using Koi Cakes instead of Bowls of Sweet and Spicy Beans because they cost the same as a single prickly pear, of which you need 10 to make the bowl of beans. You just gotta remember to eat more XD

Thanks for the comments TBone but I have been roaming in WvW since beta so I am not especially new to the concept.

Fleshy should have been on the link, obviously I didn’t quite get that right.

The reasons for the food is as I stated, by normal +condi duration food I meant Koi Cakes (or Pizza or that Garlic stuff!) and yes I know they are cheaper.

Two things:-

1. I am loaded with cash (please no charity requests!) so cost is not important to me.

2. I am after more Power hence that food and the Runes.

Hello folks,

After they “fixed” FitG I went back to do solo some roaming in WvW. I was using a full Dire / Perplexity build but after doing sPvP while FitG was rubbish, I have got used to being far more glassy (Carrion Amulet).

So I have redone my build to more emulate the way I have been playing in sPvP and came up with this little baby. The food is because I finally found something to do with all the geodes piling up in my bank but normal +condi duration food is just as good. The diffence in auto attacks from staff / sceptre and Putrid Mark / Feast of Corruption is very noticeable.

So far it appears to be much better, with the increase in Power, I’m not so reliant on condi’s and the Ravens cool down synchronises nicely with Fleshy (<- who, charge aside, is still as useless as ever!).

So if anyone would like to comment I will listen patiently and then totally ignore you!

I’m kidding, it was a joke and I welcome some feedback from others.

This is what I used to run in WvW when roaming.

Honestly haven’t done WvW since they nerfed FitG but since it’s now back will be WvW roaming soon.

I can’t do WvW with no speed increases hence both WH and sWalk – I may lose the sWalk but then again I may not!

You are right about Hard to Catch. I tried it for a few games but I was just getting really confused as to how the hell I ended up being where I suddenly found myself – thought I’d been spamming one of my teleports or something.

I think I will try what Impact suggests as coming from the least mobile profession in the game I just love Swiftness.

Hi,

First time posting in the super-friendly Thief forum so please be gentle!

I have a similar question but specific to sPvP. Started playing my Thief a few days ago after about 6 months and am using the S/D 20066 build. Yes, I know it’s not meta, but I am playing at a low level and I just prefer the game play over D/P.

So my question is (remembering I am still a Thief noob) which is better (read: more forgiving):-

1. Power of Inertia, Strength Runes and Signet of Agility

or

2. Hard to Catch, Pack Runes and Shadowstep?

Any advice is most welcome.

Thanks for the tips people.

I did start using the build Nex posted and also swapped my horn for a dagger. Nex was right in that it is a matter of practice to get the timing right on Sceptre 3 – when you do it right Life Force is fine.

Utilities I have SWalk, SWall and Corrupt Boon. Am thinking I might use the Flesh Worm (even with the new “fixes” given to it by ANet) but am not sure which utility I should drop…?

So Carrion>Rabid amulet? Was thinking about that myself, with no on-crit sigils make sense really.

I think I would always use a Warhorn now, just me I guess but the Daze and far more importantly the LF gain on Locust Swarm I find invaluable – am always starved of LF with condi builds unless I use the horn. In my book they are a fair swap for the condi-clear and more damage from Dagger OH.

So what about SPvP tactics? I don’t mean Map specific stuff just a more general “you should be trying to do x when y is happening” kind of thing.

Hi,

Despite ArenaNet’s best attempts to stop me I refuse to give up sPvP’ing with my Terror build.

I did have FitG but obviously that’s now useless so swapped it for Reaper’s Protection.

This is what I am using now.

Any suggestions for changes?

Also as a complete nub when it come to sPvP any advice on what I should be trying to do (where to go when and when to go there for starters) when Solo Queueing as a Terror Necro would be much appreciated!

Was using FITG for WvW – but anyone who is not completely new to GW2 knows to spam CC on a Necro so with just 1 stack it now has no use at all.

Gonna go back to my 6/6/0/2/0 build I think.
