because you are farming, not playing. I hope they’ll put a DR on common mobs to stop ppl like you.
They can’t do that and have material requirements like 250 lodestones for exotic (not even Legendary) weapon recipes. The game offers gear which requires you to farm, either for the materials directly (unlikely) or for the gold to purchase them from others.
Just because it’s not your idea of a good time doesn’t mean it’s “not playing”. For the record it’s not my idea of a good time, either. But it absolutely is playing. Farming is something you have to do in order to achieve some of the goals in the game. The players didn’t make the game that way; they’re just accepting the cost of those goals and performing the required actions: farm farm farm. What else can you do?
mmmm let met think … maybe a long term goal is meant to be achieved in a lot of time?
The problem is not the game requiring 250 of something. The problem is the “I want it now!” philosophy.
To me a farmer is only a spoiled brat that wants his awesome new toy.
Well mate, in reading your post, and the others, one can so easily brand you with names as well, hmmm maybe selfish jealous crybaby? Farmers do not harm the game in any way whatsoever. And do not complain about casuals. It is the other way around, when people like you are just jealous that some people who dedicate more time and effort into a game, have more stuff than you. You must be jealous of your neighbor’s car? Or maybe the Heart Surgeon who dedicated 8+ years of his life in studies, because he earns more than you? Pfff..
It’s not a problem, more like a ‘fix’
Took me roughly 300 shards, 7 with the 1 recipe, and 70 with the 10 recipe. The 10 recipe yielded nice mats, including batches of 10 lodestones when it wasnt clovers though, and a 50ish totems, and 50ish bloods, so all in all, not that disappointed.
So with simple maths, my rate of success was 25.66%
In warcraft, I was the druid class leader for my guild for for about 8 months. I raided for over five years, and we were always in the top five guilds, for progression, on a very competitive server.
Trust me. Guilds can be much worse than anything I described.
How about being so mad that you can’t raid, because several guildies are attending an in-game funeral for another player, that you get the rest of your guild to show-up and make fun of the real life family members of the deceased.
Trust me.. the whole non-speaking event farming groups of GW2 are the greatest things ever.
How about you forget that game where kids roam and trolls breed. And use your brain a little..
A good guild with just a little research can yield amazing results. Take mine for example, we arent HUGE OMG PWN EVRYTHING leaders, fee’s, etc.. But we are super friendly, ALL of us are mature, average age 28, and in general have had a super good time. I myself joined them abt 5 years ago, in AION.
I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, because the structure and rant in your post does pose resemblance to trolling, and just raging…
No you don’t HAVE to do the fractals. You CAN if you want to, end of story.
“Nothing kills an MMO faster than being forced to play it with the other players”
This statement right here.. is the epitome of ridicule… So you are telling me that Counter Strike died because you HAD to team up with people to go against the other team? You are telling me that the abbreviated name for games like GW2 is: Massively Multiplayer Online is just a ruse devised by evil corporations that just want to enslave us into thinking that grouping is a good thing?
If you TRULY, with 100% conviction believe the things you posted, then my friend, I believe you have no place being in any multiplayer game, let alone any social event/gathering.
I foresaw this as soon as i knew the would ‘do something’ about precursors.. Thank god I bought all that i needed when it was still just a few silvers per piece.. I even mentioned it in threads about precursors (I can probably find it again and show you).. But no one listens.. nope.. they just keep saying ‘shhh we dont care, we want precursors..NIAAAOOWW’ now people can maybe afford a little more the precursors, if they werent lucky from that free give away, but they sure as hell cant afford the 8 stacks of T6 mats, and 2 stacks of ectos.. Like I said, Anet needs a money sink, and since people are ‘holding’ off for the ‘scavenger hunt’, less rares thrown into forge, sooooo, less rares will drop, less ectos.
AND to top it all off, ascended backpieces each require a stack of T6 mat! Hehehe.
Just remember kids… NOTHING is free. With each action, expect a reaction
I hate to bump my own.. But would really appreciate any ideas from anyone.. Maybe input your own ideas on how to increase survivability?
Well yep.. A long time.. For best in-game item.. It is NORMAL.. I got my legendary yesterday. Reason being, i was grinding for it since game came out. Crafted my own precursor, and only thing that was missing were a few bloods and totems, and the 250 shards (those alone took me 3 weeks). And I didnt foresee the price hike in T6 due to:
1. Loads of precursors were handed out to satisfy the unquenchable thirst of the jealous and spoiled.
2. New ascended backpiece requires 250x T6 mat.
3. Bot Ban Hammer.
I am extremely happy I got my legendary yesterday, that being said, I also would not have minded if it took me another 4-6 months. In Aion it took 6-8 months of grinding to get best Bow in game….IF YOU WERE lucky, cuz the craft was RNG.
Take my advice…. please stop wasting your time on forums asking really really (excuse the term) dumb questions.. And have fun in game, work your way towards your legendary, at YOUR OWN PACE.
You’ll have it one day, if you set your mind to it, and work towards it, you WILL have it. You don’t NEED it now.. its just a skin. Your lack of legendary at this very moment isn’t impairing your ability to have fun in game.
Heya fellow rangers!
Well, my static and I hit level 11 in FOTM last night, and experienced our first glimpse of agony at Jade Maw.
Up until now was using full power/prec/crit build (berserkers crafted exotic), with superior sigil of battle on LB, and superior sigil of fire on SB, and a good GS for when needed.
I reckon a couple of levels down the line, I will definitely need more survivability, so was wondering if any of you have changed/updated their gear/traits for FOTM?
I was thinking maybe 4 pieces of Knight’s and 2 pieces of Valkyrie, for toughness and vitality, and use superior rune of divinity? Would this be a viable build? (+2 rings from FOTM and spine-guard with agony resistance) earrings and amulet would be power precision crit (to not forgo ALL my damage :P)
Would really appreciate any input from you guys who have experimented with this!
Brgrds!
We just encountered that bug as well.. couldnt do anything.. after 20 minutes.. just ‘left the instance’.
It is a bug, hope they fix it, because up to now, this has to be one of the most interesting and fun instances I have ever done
Oh the Irony.. You all got what you wanted… And now a new thread will open about everyone whining about mat prices which will go through the roof…
*Grabs popcorn, getting ready for Act 2
Heya, that’s how I ended up getting my Leaf of Kudzu. I was throwing everything that ever dropped, plus crafted A LOT of 80 rares..
Some people to minimize the risk, sell on TP the exotics they get back from the rares in MF..
This is how it went down for me in total tally:
1600 rares totally threw in..
In the beginning i was selling the exotics i got back to make back some gold, i ended up saving them in the end, and had 12 in bank.
After 40 days of just doing that, (gathering mats, using up all t5 mats to craft bows, etc..) I had just over 20g.. I crafted a series of 100 bows, got 2 exotics back, no pre-cursor, spent the rest of my money to buy all mats for another 100… got 2 exotics back from that..
At this point, I had 16 exotics.. which i could sell and make back some cash seeing I was dirt broke..
But then thought, oh what the hell… and ta-da!
(edited by Ravax.1205)
If you are claiming you’ve played 1000 hours (/age then u see play time 1000 hours?) “casually” and making only 3~5 gold a day then something can be done better here.
The general farming in north cursed shore will land you 2 gold / hour, for dungeon run, 1 run will land you roughly 30~50 silver (for the reward, token to get rare and salvage, and the loot).
So give it time and try to play more efficiently would help you on the road. Right now it’s EXACTLY incredible difficult to obtain but viable (you must’ve seen them running around you proving that even with all those so call difficulties it’s doable within 2 months).
Now to the unfair part, it’s how you see it. Lottery existed in real life too. It’s your choice to take the chance or spend the time. The point is, give the effort, you can get it. You just need a better way to mange your time to have better return.
Again, it’s been 2 months and we shouldn’t be expecting legendary to be owned by “casual” players. This is something you HAVE to work hard or be extremely lucky. If you have to argue about the luck part. I say good luck with it but it’s not my argument. I think you need to realize if you ‘re playing this game casually then you could expect your legendary to come within a year or so. It’s only up to you to choose the pace but this is something for sure doable. You need more patience.
I mostly do dungeons because it’s the most challenging PvE content in game so for me most enjoyable. I also run a very active guild and so a lot of my time is spend organising events, socialising etc.
What I mean with casual is someone who likes to do the content they like without having to grind for hours doing something incredibly boring and unrewarding. Of course I’ll keep at it but that’s not the point of my post, the point is that the way the precursors work now it makes it unfair.
Not sure why you put your hours played that doesnt= anything except hours played.
I can afk all the time doesn’t mean im going out experiencing the content. The current system is fair. In that me and you have the same % chance when we step to the forge to get a precursor. We just don’t control that % chance. The problem people seem to have is that they can’t control it. Like the guy above me said random isn’t unfair its random.
+1
And 1000 hours really? lol… the game has been out for 1700 hours.. With that much playtime, and dungeons.. you should have more then 2-5 gold per day..
Very true. It’s also quite difficult to write a survey that doesn’t produce biased results via the wording or method of the questioning.
I think we may have derailed this thread, as it’s about precursors
John, I do realize there are certain NDA’s regarding upcoming patches, changes, etc.. But could you give a subtle hint as to what part of the precursor mechanic will be altered?
And another question more important to me actually, I for example, have the precursor, and am have been working on gifts for a month already, i am just missing Icy Runestones, 44 clovers, Gift of exploration, and a few elaborate totems.. Will I (and probably many many others as well) still be able to obtain the legendary with the current design?
What I dont understand is… why the buttershmackle didn’t A-Net do an in-game survey… to see how many people would want a changed to precursors, lodestones, etc.. And they would have more legit numbers on population’s happiness.. rather than just take into consideration this supposedly ‘large feedback’ which is basically the same people posting on one thread over and over again…
Actually we have pretty scientific methods for determining how players feel.
Surveys have a tendency to have two major flaws:
1. There is a massive sample bias in those willing to fill out a survey
2. People don’t say what they feel on surveysSecondarily, all can rest assured that Legendaries will remain legendary.
What I had seen in Aion (NCSoft as well) with the ingame surveys, was multiple choice, simple, pop up on the screen upon log-in, and a reward when clicking a choice, and ‘ok’.. could have done it with a ‘jug of karma’ for example, everyone would fill out the survey..
The choices would be something like this:
What are your thoughts on current design/mechanics of Pre-cursor:
1. Ok as it is.
2. Needs a change to make easier to obtain
3. I dont know what a precursor is.
This.. this is exactly what I didn’t want to happen.. as previously posted by a few.. the ONLY hard content in the game, remade to cater to people who display unbelievable amounts of jealousy. And only after 3 months the game has come out? Aion did it, after 2 years.. and half the population left… And for Aion it was worse.. the items people were complaining were too hard to get, actually had an advantage over other items, they had way more damage, and many other better stats..
Before you reply to my post, I do know I have no clue whatsoever what these ‘changes’ will be.. But the fact that they will change it.. And make an announcement about it, to my eyes, means something core about the way precursors are obtained will be changed…
When it happens, two things will happen..
1. All the people who worked their buns off for 2-3 months, farming like crazy, throwing thousands of rares into the forge to obtain their precursor (myself included) will feel cheated.
2. Since all people will have their ‘eyes’ on the precursor now, you’ll have thousands of players hoarding lodestones and ectos and T6 mats(provided those are still in the main design… if they change those, even worse lol for the people that obtained them the ‘hard’ way) and the prices for THOSE mats will SOAR, simple supply & demand rules.. lodestones will become 5-6g per piece, ectos 1g per piece..
Then people will cry about that… and A-Net will have to follow up the trend of changing mechanics for the people complaining.. and rares will yield 5-10 ectos, people will get 10 lodestones per instance run… and everyone will be running around with a legendary..
This is all of course basis speculation and cannot hold grounds with the vague announcement made…
One thing they could change however.. that I wouldn’t mind AT all… and bear with me.. I was thinking of this when i was on my journey towards the pre-cursor:
For the Mystic Forge to keep track of how many rares/exotics are thrown in (only the ones that can yield a precursor) and have a scaling increase in chances of obtaining it. This WOULD make it, let’s say slightly easier to obtain, but still remain within the RNG parameters of a good money sink.
If that kind of change is what they have in mind.. I would not mind at all, because I did get quite frustrated a couple of times during my attempts… And i can understand the legitimate people who threw 2000 rares without yielding a precursor.. But I lament the ones who only threw in about 100, and spent more time on the forums complaining, than working towards it.
Why when i try to post it displays my text repeated 5 times, and cut up, paragraphs not in the right order etc?
Why are people so against creating a better way to get precursors? I don’t get it. It can only make the game better.
Put it this way. If there was a way to win the lottery, surefire, every single time you tried. Would you turn it down? Or would continue doing it the way it currently is where it’s just that…a lottery. And the lucky win, only?
I know which option I’d choose.
If everyone was winning the lottery. A slice of bread will be priced at 1Million dollars. Germany printed money after their defeat Ww1. Find out what happens on wiki.
Missing the point entirely. Grats.
Actually Fellyn, it is you who is missing the point. He was quite on par, granted his response was simplistic in nature, but i see now you need more clarification…
If everyone ‘could’ get a legendary.. within 3 months lets say.. 2 things would happen:
1. The fact that it’s not ‘unique’ anymore, and everyone and their uncle could get one, would drastically reduce the desire to obtain it, hence devaluating the prefix ‘Legendary’, not to mention everyone who spent countless hours of grinding and farming and throwing in hundreds of gold worth into the forge would completely loose their minds and feel they wasted time and effort, some would rage quit, others would take the game less seriously.. (A-Net does not want that for obvious reasons)
2. There would be no more MF gambling, meaning no more money sink, in a matter of days the market would flood with gold, and massive inflation would ensue.
So A-Net would have 2 choices at this point:
2.1. Create a New money sink like there are in other MMO’s like a super weapon/armor which is dependent on RNG crafting (just to name an example).
And this would be another excuse for you to complain.
2.2. DRASTICALLY reduce drop rates for EVERYTHING in game, and raise vendor prices, increase waypoint traveling prices, master salvage kit at 20g, etc..
—
I hate to be blunt, and do not wish to start a flame war, but you clearly have absolutely no knowledge of economy. And in anticipation of a possible reply, you cannot compare this to ‘real world economy’ because in game, gold is generated from vendor trash, and quest completions, and gem conversion, etc.. A-Net sees the numbers on spreadsheets, how much gold is in circulation, etc.. And in the real world, money isn’t printed non-stop, it switches hands.. And you cannot have that in game, otherwise there would be a cap for progression, and you would have insane disparity between players, some rich, and many extremely poor, wearing only blue armors.
—
Having given this more thought whilst away from work and with a calm mind, this shall be my last post here trying to explain to you folks why the system is fine as it is, because I have come to the conclusion, that A-Net, at the very least in the immediate future, will NOT alter the precursor mechanic, because it is vital for the in-game economy. It is the piston of the engine, the only thing which keeps the economy in check.
(Check this out… As soon as inflation starts, on an eye-catching scale, I guarantee you A-Net will release some new really cool flashy skins, which will require some form of RNG, in order to deflate the economy.)
@ SNOW
Dude.. I didnt buy the precursor off of the TP.. I have the screenshots to prove it..I spent 40 days farming and grinding CS, throwing every rare bow into the forge, selling the other ones in order to buy bows, and had leveled huntsman to 400, and crafted bows in batches of 100. In total 1600 rare bows went into forge, and approx 100 exotics. That is hard work man.. And i didnt try to get another precursor in order to make money off of someone else, i made my OWN precursor. I didnt do ANYTHING besides farming and grinding for my precursor, for example, my map exploration is only at 60% right now.. and I really need to muster up the energy to not get bored out of my mind completing the other mats.Just because you’re a jelly sally doesn’t mean everyone who has a precursor is a lucky kitten.Stop accusing people and stop complaining. The 1600 rares i threw in are worth roughly 240g > 1600 × 15s..You guys are just too lazy to work hard for anything in game.If it’s too ‘omg its gamble i dont like casinos blablabla’ and ‘omg these people selling on TP are crooks’, move on to something else, legendary is just a skin.Re-arrange yourself before you start accusing people of weird non-existent motives.
(edited by Ravax.1205)
So a player wielding a legendary must be a gambler, who had his day winning a lucky blackjack hand, i see. If it’s just a noob falling every 2 minutes on every dungeon with any idea of what the hell he has to do more than zerg around, not revving someone on his feet not realizing why the hell bother, after all he never did it zerging his karma from day1 never having time for any dungeon, is a legendary player worthy. Right. Lol
If you think 1600 rares, and 100 exotics is luck rather than persistence..
IF you truly think someone doing the same exact amount of attempts will get a precursor too, you really don’t know the difference between a lucky gambling hand (you had) and randomness.
Dude..I’m starting to to think that talking to you people is like talking to a schizophrenic goldfish / brick wall hybrid… You all say you want a ‘fixed’ way of obtaining a precursor.. but dont mind the challenge so lets make it hard, cuz its ‘legendary’! Here’s the solution which ALREADY exists for ya: grind and get 250g., byu it from TP, ultimately it’s the same as if you would have a craft-able recipe (i guarantee you that if there was one, mats would cost probably more than 250g..) That’s fixed. No more gambling involved for you my little friend.
And regarding the ‘noob’ with a legendary bit you said.. in a dungeon.. well the other components required to make the legendary, including 400sp in 2x Crafting, and the 10 dungeon runs, and insane number of mats, if he is a noob.. i guarantee you he wont have his legendary too soon.. even IF he has the precursor..
So basically, with all these posts, there is only 1 thing I can deduce.. You guys under false pretenses actually want a precursor handed to you on a silver platter, because the ‘hard – challenging’ way of obtaining one, which you claim is what you actually want.. already exists…
Bibidy Bobidy Boop! Like magic, the veil behind the lines has been lifted, and all is clear now!
Peace.
Edit: Don’t forget the 500x badges, the 500 ectos, the 100 icy runestones, among ALL the rest.. especially with T6 mats now costing more than 6s each… The precursor IMHO is the EASIEST component…
Same here.. Desolation, its bugged.. And i run in WvW with guild, and instances with guild mates.. I dont want to run around for 7 days on another server for a CHANCE that the event wont be bugged…
Randomness is the only sure way to keep legendary weapons legendary in rarity. It is abundantly clear that there are an amusingly large number of people with the time and dedication to get every component other than the precursor who would all be running around with legendary weapons by now if there was less randomness involved, thus putting them firmly outside the realm of legend.
So, in other words, in your opinion time, skill and dedication should be less important than luck?
Time/Skill and dedication are needed for PvP.. This is a skin..
I implore A-net to keep it as it is..
(P.S. I did get my precursor ‘Leaf of Kudzu’, but only after having thrown in about 1600 rares, and 100 exotics) – I would say compared to the R&D thread on precursors, that’s within the average.)
And wow, who post “Don’t touch nothing” ? A guy with a precursor hehe
Oh, i don’t want to insinuate you used the famous exploits, you was lucky. Sure
Like if a gambling game is what makes you worthy of wield a legendary weapon lol. Legendary lucky weapons was a better name
If you think 1600 rares, and 100 exotics is luck rather than persistence.. then mate, you need to sort out your priorities.. So you are saying everyone that has a precursor is a lucky dude, that SHOULDN’T have gotten it in the first place? The mechanic was designed this way. Like I said, I admit SOME people got very lucky and required only a few tries on MF, but I guarantee you, 95% of the others didn’t, and only through guild help, and constant farming for Rares, and mats to craft rares, did they ever get their precursor.. OR, they went the money way, and grinded and crafted and sold on TP, to buy the precursors which in the beginning of the game were worth 20-40g. And I know a few people who bought at 200g.
Also keep in mind, that EVERY mmo HAS to have a money sink. It’s the main mechanic which balances a game’s economy. In Aion for instance, the crafting was one of the big money sinks. Where to get the item you wanted, you had to be lucky, and CRIT the craft to get the higher tier, and in minimum 5 steps mind you! craft whites → some critted to green, then craft those greens, and hope to crit some to blue, and hope for some to crit crit to gold, and then crit to a named gold, then hope to god you crit to orange.. The mats in each step were months worth of grinding and gathering… And be thankful that in GW2 the legendaries are only a skin! In Aion those weapons had much more damage, more attack speed, damage/crit/HP than the other slightly lower tier weapons.
Hello,
I’ve noticed some subtle changes in CS, notably fireballs raining down around the arena (near Plinx start point) and ‘Orrian Mines’ in the river.. Any other new things you guys have seen?
(Or it could be that my brain has been on zombie mode for a while and I hadn’t noticed these things before.. but I am quite certain those fireballs weren’t there)
+1 to morphemass
MF is a gamble for precursors, i obtained my precursor only after having thrown in 1600 rares and about 100 exotics.. Persistence is persistence..
BUT as morphemass pointed out, there is a thread on the page
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Enough-with-the-RNG-WRT-Precursors/first#post641534
Where it clearly explains how one can turn the RNG from MF into profit.
And as previously stated, there are numerous ‘fixed’ MF recipies, which give out items with pretty awesome skins..
Pre-cursors aren’t ONLY blind-luck (granted some people have been extremely lucky and only required a few tries) it is persistence AND a little luck.
Man..man..man.. Please stop crying.. Legendary means LEGENDARY it SHOULD be insanely hard to get.. You expect EVERYONE to have a Legendary weapon after 4 months? No, it isn’t supposed to be like that!
On top of it all, the fact that you ‘dont’ have a legendary, isn’t stopping you from playing the rest of the game, because in essence, the legendary is ONLY a skin.. It gives you NO advantage whatsoever in the game.
Worst of it all.. stop complaining about the precursor prices.. I agree it’s steep, I definitely do not have the gold to shell out on one. But consider the rest of the mats, they outweigh the precursor BY A MILE. Runestones alone 100g, more than 300 ectos, abt 50g, the mystic coincs, the T6 mats 250 of each… and some 500 like ancient woods and orics…
If a game gives you guys so much distress and anguish… I seriously recommend you find another hobby, which is more suited to your needs.
I myself enjoy a challenge.. even if its a tedious, long, frustrating one.. I look for this kind of thing in a game.. If everything is handed to me on a silver platter, or even if it’s a ‘fixed’ recipe like you guys want, I would loose interest in the game almost immediately.. mindlessly grinding on fixed stepping stones.. There would be no element of surprise, no outcry of joy..
I implore A-net to keep it as it is..
(P.S. I did get my precursor ‘Leaf of Kudzu’, but only after having thrown in about 1600 rares, and 100 exotics) – I would say compared to the R&D thread on precursors, that’s within the average.)
So stop complaining Romek.. Narrow minded thinking like that will get you nowhere.
Next generation MMO, yea right. More like Dark Age of Tyria.
This IS next gen MMO, where people from all over can play together.. And like my previous reply, " title of thread… Desolation Server… If you have nothing polite/constructive to say, keep it to yourself.. Bashing between servers has already been done and re-cooked too many times..on many threads dedicated to talks between servers."
hope arenanet awake soon and stop this
you guys are timezone exploiter to get easy karma, gold …. with PvDoor and destroy completly the balance in the EU rankings
you guys are to bad to fight fair in your own timezone “US” so you move to where you have no enemy – pooor – rly pooor
go home
Jesus Christ man.. title of thread… Desolation Server… If you have nothing polite/constructive to say, keep it to yourself.. Bashing between servers has already been done and re-cooked too many times..on many threads dedicated to talks between servers.
We can start the whole ’nah, but you guys (VZ/AR) allied (even if briefly) to attack us, desolation jointly.. BUT NO… this is not the thread to discuss this, and this is definitely NOT the thread to start flame wars again!
—
On topic, OP, our guild (Infinity) used to be quite large in PvP in Aion, and our goal in GW2 is to eventually reach that status again.. But for now, a few of our members, myself included, have dedicated A LOT of our time to WvW to get to know who runs the show, and how organization works, etc… (tbh it really puts a dent in your savings haha). And any moment of the day, on any of the 4 maps, someone is really leading on, and things seem like order can be found in the chaos, and everyone seems to having a good time.. I really appreciate seeing things like this.
And I do wish things could be kept civil, I am part french myself, and hate to see the bashing that goes on non-stop between servers. I just think they aren’t used to someone being able to kick the pedestal and shake things up..
Deep down, i really think they should just get used to us, they SHOULDN’T give up on WvWvW, but keep the fight going. Keep T1 interesting, and seeing players and guilds, and alliances come up with new strategies to overcome and counter other servers’ strategies… this is where the fun starts, when real strategy has to kick in because numbers isn’t the only key to winning in WvWvW.
Brgrds.
Ravax
Why not choose a specific and definitive timezone for an account ?
This is not a post against Desolation but on the future of the European ladder. Please stay polite.
I’ll give you a super simple answer to that question. Over years of gaming, many people have made friends with people from all over the world, and like to play together, i’m not talking about RUIN coming over to deso. But you’re ‘idea’ would ruin gaming for MANY people, myself included. We are adults, and work/travel all over the world, all the time. If there were timezone limitations, that would separate many old guilds, which have been together throughout many different games, mine included.
Get with the melting pot already! I do not wish to impose my ideals on others, but this nationalistic way of thinking from so many people gets to me… I think it’s time for MANY MANY cultures to start broadening their horizons, and blend with other cultures.
Greengrin, you are also forgetting one important thing.. You NEED to have Servers with international communities, and they will always have larger player bases and more coverage of time zones. I’ll give you an example, mine.. I am french, like you are, however I have always lived outside of france, and throughout the years of friendships, in RL and in-game(s) have made friends from ALL over, including but not limited to: US, China, South America, and ofc EU. I am now in the same guild i have been in for more than 4 years, since AION.. And we always went to english speaking servers, because MOST players speak english, and these servers are always the most fun, being a melting pot of cultures, and Ventrilo / TS is always hilarious due to all the accents..:P
Regardless, I would have to say i’m ‘OK’ for there being language specific servers (although I am much more for just chucking everyone in english speaking servers, and let the ones that cant speak it form language specific guilds – and maybe have language specific map chats), but I would also say that unless FR servers turn up the volume and overpopulate, they shouldn’t expect to always be on top of a game, for that reason. And please dont tell me it’s ‘unfair’ because that would simply translate to me as someone telling me it’s not fair that his neighbor who has a PH.D and worked hard all his life earns more money than him.
The only other solution would be for W3 to have pools, all English/international servers in one pool, and all language SPECIFIC servers in a different pool. But I dislike that idea because it would reduce the pool sizes, and its always fun fighting vs someone new
