[Bugged Skill point][Sparkfly FEN] SHARK [Merged]

Also bugged on Tarnished Coast. The fact that the sharks are flagged as “friendly” isn’t nearly as disorienting (or hilarious) as the fact that they’re hovering just above the shoreline rocks, making “swimming” sound effects. Perhaps they’re confused by their sudden evolution into amphibious lifeforms.

Dredge stealing medical packs?

It would appear that the Dredge are somehow able to pick up/use the medical packs that show up in an Engineer’s “Air Drop” package.

Anybody else noticed the filthy little commies pulling this?

Nope. Not enough. The only thing that can save you there is logging out and claiming linkdeath later on . . .

Right now, every bloody wolf in the game can howl to summon reinforcements. Then their reinforcements can howl to summon reinforcements. And THOSE reinforcements can howl to summon reinforcements. And so on and so forth into bloody infinity.

It also appears that Veteran wolves can summon MULTIPLE reinforcements—which, again, can howl to summon yet more reinforcements!

Please put some kind of cap on this ability (if there is one, I sure haven’t seen it). It’s getting ridiculous.

It’s got to be a direct shout-out. I doubt the devs would have been able to get the level of Arthurian nuance that the sylvari have without really digging into the legends.

Brisban Wildlands Seraph Observers camp - WAI?

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: RavenDaughter.1857

RavenDaughter.1857

Server: Tarnished Coast
Zone: Brisban Wildlands

Near Hidden Lake, there is a Seraph Observers camp (including the helpfully named “Seraph Observers Waypoint”) that is constantly—and I do mean constantly, with no hyperbole—being overrun by bandits. Every time I’ve gone there, all of the NPCs are dead and there are 5-6 bandits standing around. There’s no point in trying to clear the bandits, as new waves of bandits immediately spawn, run in, and start beating on PCs. There’s no point in rezzing the NPCs, as they are quite weak and will simply die again in a matter of seconds to the infinitely respawning bandits. Mind you, there is no indication that this is a broken dynamic event.

This is a bit of a problem. The waypoint is never marked as “contested”, but I have teleported to that point and been slaughtered before my client finished syncing up. As unclean as it makes me feel, I would almost LIKE to see a couple of bots in attendance to wipe out the endless bandit spawns.

Is this working as intended? Is this camp actually supposed to be a meaningless destination?

(It is all the more bizarre to note that there is a pack-beast escort quest that takes you from the Seraph Protectors camp to the Seraph Observers camp . . . and when you arrive at the overrun Observers camp, the NPC and pack beast calmly walk in amongst the bandits, completely ignored, to quietly despawn.)

And I’ve just looked though the notes in the news and announcements section and can’t find any mention of the introduction of the diminishing returns mechanism. Anet you have to be transparent with us. Players need to know how this works let alone that it exists.

Minor update since I can’t seem to edit my previous post: The event is NOT blocked in Queensdale Overflow, but as soon as I transition to the standard zone, it’s blocked again.

Stuck on Tarnished Coast as well.

I can confirm that, as I’m on Tarnished Coast standing next to Farmer Clarence, who is probably sprouting cobwebs by now . . .

Did you get that info from somewhere specific. Can’t seem to find anything.

Sorry for any confusion. Kind of an inside joke from another MMO, where the dev response of “soon” to any questions about time frames became so prevalent that players began using it with the addition of the “trademark” tag/symbol . . .

Thirty seconds ago, I was able to see the Gem Store and all other tabs of the BLTC just fine, while on the computer on the other side of the room from mine, my spouse’s account was showing “Down for Maintenance” on all tabs. Just now, I clicked the Currency Exchange tab to verify . . . and now am seeing “Down for Maintenance” on all tabs as well. What the . . .

Even if it’s not someone who’s eager for revenge against Zhaitan, somebody who actually seems emotionally involved would be great. Kirk was the “action guy” to Spock’s calm intellectual. Maybe that’s supposed to be the PC?

The dialogue... oh lord, the dialogue...

RavenDaughter.1857

Sometimes I feel that the game is just outright condescending to me.

From the ad campaigns to the blog posts to the way NPCs react to you to the narcissistic little voice snippets your character says when you level up, I feel that everyone, always, will not shut up about how great/amazing/incredible I am.

This. Thank you. Every time one of my characters undertakes the incredible feat of gathering a bunch of carrots and says, in a gratingly smug fashion, “Is it just me, or am I AMAZING?”, I want to punch teeth down throats. Especially when it’s a character I’m trying to roleplay as a very serious and self-effacing person who wouldn’t say “I’m totally awesome” even when standing atop a mountain of centaur corpses slain single-handedly with a sword big enough to require its own ZIP code. Good-bye, immersion; hello, aggravation.

And yes, something is definitely wrong when I’m walking away more affected by random NPC conversations than by “important” dialogue scenes. I ran across one of the most unexpectedly thought-provoking in the Great Lodge of Hoelbrak, where a man was talking to one of the Bear priest/shaman types. He said that there was an “enemy” he hadn’t been able to slay, and went on to describe a situation with a drake broodmother wherein he’d been severely wounded, and it was THE WOUND, or rather its aftermath, that he considered the unslain enemy—it rendered it him unable to hunt or fight as he once had. The Bear shaman spoke of the seasons of a year as seen through a bear’s eyes, the point ultimately being that although one part of the man’s life had ended, it didn’t mean his entire life was at an end. It was one of the most genuinely moving things I’ve ever seen in a video game. And then I had to go listen to Eir Stegalkin and the Snow Leopard shaman natter about the Mists or some such thing, which I wouldn’t remember at all if it hadn’t been for the sharp contrast between that bombastic garbage and the far more interesting conversation that had just gone on downstairs between two nameless NPCs.

Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:

in Personal Story

One of the things that seriously, intensely, and persistently gets straight up my nose is that Trahearne is apparently “the greatest living expert on Orr”.

He is a sylvari Firstborn. That means that HE IS TWENTY-FRICKING-FIVE YEARS OLD.

TWENTY. FIVE.

Yes, sylvari are “born” as adults, with the sort of collective memory that means they aren’t confused about basic things like “walking” and “proper thumb operation” and “pants”, so technically his entire life has presumably been spent studying the subject, but . . . short of drilling a hole in my head and replacing important bits of my brain with cotton candy, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to believe for ONE SECOND that there aren’t, say, Priory scholars who’ve been studying and exploring Orr that long or longer. The average player character asura/charr/human/norn might be older than 25, for crying out loud.

When it came time for my sylvari elementalist to figure out what to do about the Orrian mirror, in fact, I went with “let’s talk to the asura about it” for this exact reason. Trahearne, yeah, Firstborn, whatever—excuse me while I consult the person who might well be OLDER AND MORE EXPERIENCED THAN MY ENTIRE RACE, thank you.

Finding out that all of my elementalist’s past accomplishments have apparently been “hijacked” by frigging Trahearne, who will also be consistently hijacking them in the future, is depressing to say the least.

Audio Problems with all storyline conversations.

I’ve also noticed cutscene lines failing to play the voice clip while the character gestures, but the mouths don’t move. (Maybe they’re using sign language? . . .) My PCs always get their lines and lip-sync animations, but the NPCs don’t. It seems pretty random.
