Yes obviously a single forum post gives them that mentality. lmao
Maybe they have improved and some people can’t see it because it’s not what they think of as improvement. I suppose you think the programmed the entire jungle in two days.
OK, I may have been a bit bitter when I posted that. They did some good/great things that’s considered “revolutionary” in the MMORPG genre, such as the Living Story episodic approach. I wouldn’t be surprised if the WoW devs are taking notes of GW2’s improvements and may incorporate them in future expansions. What I’m trying to say is, if GW2 is the best MMORPG out there, then their aim now is to out do themselves.
They’re so stuck with that mentality they think they don’t need to improve, because GW2 is ‘THE BESTEST PC MMO OF THE LAST 141231251231 YEARS!!!!!’ Or maybe they don’t WANT to improve, because improving means more work for them.
I’ve been using the new "elite"specializations and yet I don’t feel ‘elite’ at all. In PvE I don’t wreck stuff up more than a vanilla class. In PvP it’s the same story, why do I feel they are not as powerful as advertised? You mean to say F2P players who use F2P classes are more powerful than those who payed for the Elite Specializations? This is a kittening rip-off! You promised us power, and yet vanilla classes are equal and sometimes are more powerful than elite classes. Why does it say “elite” in the first place when it doesn’t give me the edge in combat, you know like an “elite”, someone on another level?
Since we had a new shoulder for halloween, I’m guessing there’ll be a new Wintersday items as well. We had a new PvP reward track last year, so it’s probably going to go back soon, but I’m hunching that there will be a new themed shoulder item this Wintersday as well, meaning it will be made by crafting like Nightfury. What Wintersday items do you think will be used as components? We’ve seen the endless batwing tonic being used in Nightfury, how about endless tonics in Wintersday, do we have any of that sort? How about the unbreakable bells?
I was expecting Logan to be a “pretty boy” so to speak, targeted at women and most specially young girl players. This is why I hated him before Guild Wars 2 even launched. Turns out he was different from a “pretty boy”, turned out to be more like that buffoon team mate who afks in the middle of a dungeon boss fight because reasons.
Why does it consume the aegis when you block with Shield of Wrath? The skill itself already blocked one attack (blocks up to three attacks). Shouldn’t an attack consume aegis first then consume the block charges, or consume the block charges then consume aegis, and not consume both?
I like to troll in twitch channels a lot, and doc is one of those streamers who doesn’t ban trolls outright and actually plays along with it. I think arenanet_colin was banned because doc thought he was impersonating an arenanet employee, not for trolling per se.
Yes please, especially now that we will be having e-sports fests. Can we spectate live as well please?
When are you going to add build and skill templates? It’s getting annoying and frustrating now. Can I make my own program that will change my build automatically?
Maybe cut the ESL price in half, and use that half to actually improve PvP with more features (spectate and replay system for instance, that’s ALREADY IN GUILD WARS 1), and to hire more people working on PvP, for one, somebody who would work on detecting speedhacking? Why so regressive in your progress arenanet?
It will give people time to practice the new specializations and to find new exploits with them, or have you already found one and want to use it ASAP in the leagues before people find out about it. It’s a chronomancer build I presume? I don’t know why you want leagues to start ASAP when there’s a kittenton of things people need to test out first, both by players and devs.
I remember the dwarves turning to stone to fight off Primordius as foretold in their prophecy. I remember there was this ‘Great Dwarf’ who “created” the dwarves. Could dwarves actually had been dragon minions of Primodius, in the same way as Sylvari were the dragon minions of Mordremoth? Could the Great Dwarf be the same as The Pale Tree, a dragon champion rebelling against their master? I know dwarves where flesh before they turned to stone in the GW1 storyline, but what if they were actually made of stones in the very beginning, what if that was the gift of the Great Dwarf before he died, he gave dwarves freedom from Primordius, and the gift of life as well. Maybe one day, Sylvari could transform into flesh as well, and they could procreate as well one day.
I’ve watched a video of this software, and I’m wary about how this software is able to detect other user’s current game status and it’s ability to detect the death of the dragon or baron. It may be doing it by packet sniffing or by memory scanning, or both. I’d advise everyone to take caution installing any third party applications, especially those with undocumented program processes.
I know the Heart of Thorns expansion is dark and dreary, but please don’t forget to put your signature humor in the game. Maybe make two of the Hylek’s part of the story (one from each tribe), and use them for comedic effect of sorts. Speaking of new characters, maybe introduce a Tengu hero/henchmen as well. Of all the “supporting race” (supporting cast?), I find the Tengu the most intriguing. Well I like Quaggans as well, but we’re already well acquainted with them in the game.
Will it be retired and be replaced with the new borderlands? If so, could we have the option to visit the old borderland, for nostalgia’s sake and remembrance, please?
Ranger and Warrior has ability to be immune to interrupts for a long period of time, thus have an advantage in channeling/capping mists essence. Other classes have immunity to interrupts as well, but not as great as Rangers and Warriors. For example, all classes have a way to push/pull people in Skyhammer, so it’s fairly balanced, but in Stronghold, the ability to be uninterruptable for a very long period of time is an unfair advantage that other classes have no fair answer (as I’ve said, there’s an answer, but not balanced with Ranger/Warrior with respect to channeling).
So laggy right now, are the servers getting hit with another DDoS attack?
There are several roles in PvP; there’s burst, sustain, bunker, and then there are sub-types such as mobile, condi and support. Each class can be built to one of these roles to a certain degree and success. I find that the most successful team composition (atleast in PUGs) is 2 sustain (balance of constant pressure dps and survivability), 2 burst, and 1 bunker.
I’ve been seeing speedhackers with far less frequency now than before. Before this current season, I encounter speedhackers almost every ranked game, but now I very rarely see them. Have the devs brought down the banhammer? If so, thank you so much. I’ve been slowly getting disheartened with PvP lately with all the speedhacks happening in ranked games. I am guessing to resolve speedhacks, you would have to make an overhaul of the netcode, so your temporary course of action right now is to ban players caught speedhacking. But please don’t let this just be, especially with the Stronghold map coming soon. The reason is because the map uses supply carrier mechanics, and speedhackers will just ruin the experience since they will be able to move around the map like Nightcrawler on crack.
Arenanet please put a delay/cooldown on Death Shroud revert, or atleast put an option to toggle the delay/cooldown. I’ve had it with accidentally reverting back from Death Shroud when my lifeforce is still plenty. Sometimes when I lag, and also because of the pressure of battle, I accidentally press the Death Shroud button twice, just as I would when I press a skill button in a hurry. Sometimes because of lag, I thought the server didn’t receive my command to change, so I press it again, but nope, the server actually received my command and my second command only made me revert back. -.- Also you need to time the activation of the Death Shroud with millisecond accuracy. If the cooldown of DS is still 0.3 when you pressed it, nope, not gonna change. Have you fought in real PvP battles, not just with fellow friends and fans (that won’t lick your kitten and give you false impression of PvP)? Sometimes milliseconds is all it takes to determine if you will still have 100 HP from that spike damage or not. I’m sorry, I’m not the smartest person on Earth, sometimes when I panic, I double press Death Shroud (F1). Because there is no delay, like in engineer kits’ delay, the system treats those quick double key presses as separate commands. If only you had a delay, even a quarter second delay, it would ignore the second key press, and all will be well, I would still be in Death Shroud, even when I frantically pressed F1 three times. Also what about those with shaky hands disability, maybe they also accidentally revert back from DS with full lifeforce, because there isn’t a quarter second delay like in grenade kits. I know there are boons you can get from just entering Death Shroud and other mechanics when leaving DS, that’s why I said atleast put the quarter second delay before you can revert back as an option for those who would appreciate it.

Observing how my minion team behaves, I’ve come up with a very effective workaround to their flaws. Do not target anything until your minions are around the “attack area”. If they are still far away, kite around the enemies for a second or two until the rest of your army arrives. Always keep an eye on the minimap. Targeting messes up their AI. If you have no targets while moving, they will prioritize coming near you. Once they are near the battle area, you can now target and initiate attack to trigger their aggressive mode (you can attack, but not target, ie. drop some staff marks on the ground). When moving to another area, release your target, so your minion team will stop their aggressive mode and move close to you. I practiced doing this tug and pull work around, and after a while, I have become accustomed to this and it became an intuitive part of the MM mechanic. You start ‘sensing’ if your minions are close enough or not, it becomes second nature to you, thinking or anticipating how the minions will react.
I’ve noticed you get higher than usual fall damage when jumping down the hole in the middle of the Temple of the Silent Storm map. I did some tests, apparently the server is miscalculating the fall damage, failing to take into account the height of the last platform you jumped down from.
Thank you. So after getting lots of PvP boxes, to maximize potential loot drop, I should open them in SW after the final boss battle.
So I’ve read somewhere that PvP boxes are affected by magic find. Is that true? I’d appreciate it if someone could verify if it is true or not. So if it’s true, then the best place to open PvP boxes is in Silverwastes, since a map mission success gives a 200% MF boost?
Thank you for the reply. I see now, I thought level 80s trinkets automatically have better stats, I’ll check them out. I have zerker ascended, but the rest are exotics.
I created a bunch of these to level up my crafting skills. I used some of them, but now I have the level 80 versions of them. What should I do with the rest of the level 78 backpacks? I can’t sell them or salvage them, should I just delete them?
THEN kittenING REGROUP AND RETAKE HOME.
The problem with most players is that they move out ASAP when they rez, so they feel they can’t take out a bunker engi in home, they fear bunker engi in home, so psychologically they choose the path of least resistance, but often, that’s what the enemy wants them to do especially for double bunker teams. No, kittening regroup and push home. What most people PUGs don’t realize is what premades will do. They communicate with one another. “Hey let’s regroup now, there’s an engi in our home.” That’s just common sense. But it’s one effective way to deal with bunker engis, two or even three focus fire and kill off/kill the engi, and then protect home.
Yeah I noticed it too. They also changed it 2 weeks in last season. So easy to give in. Arenanet devs are as indecisive as a virgin girl on a prom night. Grow some balls.
Yet there’s centaurs. Maybe there weren’t any horses in Tyria in the first place, only Hecarims.
I think it still uses the old calculation of win prediction, and gives points based on that win prediction, ie. if you are paired with lower ranking teammates than your enemies, yet still win, you get more points. The difference now is that this season, you are now more likely to be paired with a good player if you are good, and paired with a bad player if you are bad.
So far I’m liking this new MMR system. Please don’t change this. Before, you were “punished” for doing good. Before, you will be paired with people with a lower win percentage. I don’t know what was the intention of arenanet with that, but the ones who are benefiting from it are not newbies that need nursing, it’s the point farmers who are abusing the old MMR.

So, the perfect time to start a DDoS attack on the servers is around 2:00-3:00 AM PDT?
Arenanet should be wary now. Some kittens might want to ruin the HoT closed beta/stress test event, so this might be just a test run of another more potent DDoS attack.
It happened to me when I was about to join a PvP battle. After reconnecting, I queued up again, then the servers disconnected me in the middle of battle. I hope the servers didn’t count those 2 DCs as loss.
I hope they don’t count the DC as an auto-loss.
If you are doing badly, the new MMR doesn’t match you with people who are good. It matches you with people who play bad as well. Before, it punishes those who play good by making them play with lower rank players, or players lower percentage of wins, to “help” them, to teach them, make them better. The only good thing it does is help farmers earn more points, since if you play badly, chances are, the old MMR will take “mercy” with you, and pair you with people who have a good record.
A reddit user, Boa-Noah, found a bug in the gems to gold exchange.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2zvq0n/gem_2_gold_potential_glitch/
I have confirmed that it works. To replicate the bug, use custom exchange. Then type in the desired gold you want to have with a decimal or a fraction of a gold, ie. 78.2. Just make sure it hits 800 gems. After that, now incrementally increase the gold you want by a hundredth decimal, ie.78.21 or 78.22, until the bug triggers. You will now be able to exchange 2 gems for 78.22 gold, wow. For those trying this out, do not finalize the transaction. You might get banned, as this is an exploit, whether you know it or not as an exploit, when the banhammer hits, all who exchanged 2 gems for 78+ gold will get banned.
I’m liking the new MMR algorithm right now. Eight wins in a row and counting.
I’d like to suggest some sort of tutorial mode for PvP. It was present in Guild Wars 1, why did you not include PvP tutorials in Guild Wars 2?
Also the NPC enemies you can fight at Fallen Halls of Glory at the Heart of the Mists lobby map is a misleading indicator if you’re ready or not. Enemies found at Forest of Aarden are a much better indicator if you are ready. With this, I’d like to suggest tougher versions of enemy job class NPCs that you can fight in another area, maybe an NPC with a build that a dev would actually use.
Why not use a system like the one used in Starcraft 2, where in you accumulate “sleep points” after a period of time of not playing PvP? “Sleep points” are bonus points added to your first or second wins of the day (or they can be used to reduce the points lost when you lose). Also, why just increments of +1, +2, etc. with points? For example maximum points per win could be 20 points. Depending on how hard the battle is predicted by the MMR algorithm, you could only win 5 points, or 15 points if your opponent is very hard. Points could have diminishing returns, from 18 points per win, to 3 points per win. And then there’s bonus “sleep points”, that would give additional points on a win, or negate a certain number of points per loss.
Haha, when I first started my engi for WvW, I equipped him for bomb heals supporting siegers using flame rams. The heals are tiny, but if the sieger/siege users have high toughness, then your tiny heals negate almost 30% damage (this tactic won’t work with low toughness players since damage will be too high). You and the siege users will still die though if constantly pounded with damage.
Are there airships hovering over the skies above engis, waiting for the command to drop supplies? If so, can we call aerial bombardment instead of supply drops?
About the hobo sacks, kits can be considered the engineer’s secondary weapons. So you need a way to show players their “weapons”, just like a warrior or a thief’s weapon swap. Maybe separate PvP and PvE hobosacks, since it’s more important to show them in PvP than in PvE?
For me, it’s Marjory > Taimi = Rox > Kasmeer >>>>>> Ka-Brahm
Marjory is my waifu. Taimi is lame, literally, but I would respect her if the anet writers would not make her look “lame” figuratively. “Oh I’m helpless but cute… love me!!” I hate to say Taimi is cute (because saying Taimi is cute is just disrespect), I think her enthusiasm is admirable, not getting horny for Taimi kitten you. It just reminds me of myself when I was young, I would do all these mini-experiments in our backyard, plus I am pro-nerd/geek/genius. She is already genius level. Kasmeer, well, she is fap material, but not waifu material. I can’t shake the thought of her life before joining DE2. I wonder if she was promiscuous, the kitten of the block, before her family was disgraced. I like her professionalism though. I like Rox’s humor and quips. Make it more edgy, bordering on ridicule and insult. Ka-Brahm, wow, although a “gentle giant” (but dangerous when angry), loyal to the end like a dog, he just doesn’t click to me. I don’t know, maybe he can become the “Minsc” of GW2, minus the PTSD.
Most criminals are “nice” to their goons. Most serial killers seem to be the nicest, most polite person to their neighbors. Just saying.
Magic carpet, riding broom, and sonic tunneling tool function like “pseudo-mounts”. It can get tedious whenever you have to re-use a toy after each combat. Wouldn’t it be more enticing for players to buy your toys if it were easier for players to utilize them? The same goes for the other toys, such as the kites and balloon. I know you are always concerned with the graphical performance of the game, maybe automatically cull toy use like miniatures whenever there are too many players?
I’m thinking maybe add slots in the character page for these toys, or even next to the wardrobe slot. I believe you are geniuses that you could think of a better way to do this, and believe you are hardworking that you will consider doing this in the future(among other important things), also I believe you do play your own game (minus using dev hacks), so you know what the common players thinks and feel.
Be careful jumping down the hole in the Temple of the Silent Storm map. The new fall damage calculation doesn’t quickly take into account the last platform you jumped down from before finalizing the fall damage. You now receive around thrice the fall damage compared to the fall damage before the 17/3/2015 patch. Or maybe this is actually a “feature” not a bug, hmm.. j/k
The new fall damage algorithm fails to quickly take into consideration the last platform you jumped down from before finalizing the fall damage calculation. What happens is that you take damage as if you jumped down from a higher height. Video footage explaining the bug (and a workaround to prevent the 3x fall damage on the TotSS pvp map):
