Hello.
Well, the title is self explanatory. Anyone else had this problem?
Dragonbrand Server
Thank you very much
But I’m just curious how is it not hitting other games performance?
Dragonbrand Server
It’s the cpu that holding you back, not the gpu.
It is a FX8350… How is that holding him back?

Hello everyone.
I downloaded the GW2 client for my new PC today, everything was fine. Running smooth at 60fps. But now, a couple of hours latter after i pass the character selection screen my FPS can barely hit over 15.
What is going on?
GW2 is the only game this is happening (tested BF4, DA Inquisition and Warframe – all fine)

Some people clearly need a recall :
- An MMO is considered “grindy” if one has to repeat a small set of simple and uninteresting tasks in order to reach the level cap and enjoy the “end-game content”
- Having objects or rewards that require grind in a game does not make it “grindy”
- In GW2 the end-game content can be summed up as : dry top + silverwastes ; megaboss ; living world ; dungeons and fractals. Of all these only fractals of level 10+ require ascended equipment. Thus one with exotic gear can access 100% of endgame content since you walk through the same fractals at level or 50 (only the difficulty changes).
- And GW2 gives you tools to bypass the leveling process for your alts (exp tomes + skill scrolls + gold to buy traits).
With that in mind, one cannot possibly claim that GW2 is a grindy MMO. The ones who do either :
- Want everything handeled to them immediately without breaking a sweat.
- bash the game for the sake of bashing Anet/the game.
Edit : I’d also like to remind you all that ascended tier items were added because a vocal minority (not pointing fingers here) asked for something to grind for once they’ve finished the game.
THIS. Just stick with this comment and erase the rest, please.

1: Living World – I understand you are building a non linear story, but they need to let scars in the world so you actualy see a change. The rebuilding of Lion’s Arch last year is a small example.
2: Roleplaying -More armor, more weapons, thing that can make your character unique. Interactive objects in the world (chairs, beer kegs, etc), and a meaning to Home instance.
3: Ascended items – Good.
- Time/Reward still an issue in the game. Not talking about gold in every drop in the game. We want itens, itens you can only get from a specific place, but don’t make that a 0,5% chance.

Stupid NPCs
Everyone learned to hate Hodgins after just a few minutes playing this dungeon for the first time. Tough NPCs who resurrect downed allies and with real impact abilities (what about a real water field for our good flame scepter guy?) is a must from this to the last and every ever implemented dungeon.
The Impact on Rewards
With such changes, the normal mode of the explorable dungeon would be much easier and faster for veteran players than already are. That’s why tokens, silver and experience gained would get a nerf.
- 45 tokens instead of the original 60 after completing any path for the first time.
- Each champion boss (Spider and Troll) would have their silver reward reduced to 5 instead of the original 10.
- The total experience gained after completing any path for the first time would be decreased to 45% instead of the original 70%.
The buffed chests:
- Every player from level 35 to level 80 would have the same chance to drop a unique and tradable exotic gear. Not only the flame scepter but a few more itens acquirable only on this dungeon.

The Second Half
The second half of each path has very singular mechanics and they already require enough teamwork and coordination, there is no real reason to completely change them. Just small adjustments to the original features would be enough.
What should change at Hodgin’s Plans path?
- The elite mobs on the first scepter piece should be decreased to veterans category.
- When helping Hodgins to locate the flame scpter pieces, only the Breeders (or any of the other specific types) should be on elite category, the others should be decreased to veteran category.
- When exploring the graveling tunnels on the way to the Howling King there should be less mobs and more traps on the way.
- The Howling King should have a slight decrease on the attack and HP values.
What should change at Detha’s Plans path?
- The way to the Ghost Eater boss should have ghost patrols (1 elite + 2 veterans) instead of gravelings.
- The Boss AI and mechanics should be revised, since they don’t always work as intended.
- The traps have a design very similar with Asura technology, I think it should be changed to something more similar with Charr’s industrial style.
- Slight decrease on the boss attack and HP values.
What should change at Tzark’s Plans path?
- Traps instead of ghosts on the way to the Lovers Spawns.
- The mobs at the Lovers Spawn should be decreased to Veteran category.
- At the Hall of Champions Burrows only Breeders (or any of the other specific types) should be on elite category, the others should be decreased to veteran category.
- The Boss AI and mechanics should be revised, since they don’t always work as intended.
- Slight decrease on the boss attack and HP values.

The first time player should be introduced to teamwork, environment interaction and timing reactions.
Common Fights
- The Burrow
I don’t really see a point on this since you can simply ignore it without any consequences.
My suggestion would be to remove it from the botton of the stairs and make the following traps an element of surprise. A stone button activating spike traps or darts being shoted from the walls. The same goes for the flame traps on the stair and walls, making the first rung of the leader a trap to activate them. All traps possible to jump over the “trigger” without activating.
- The Spider Queen
As I stated before, the first four dungeons should have progressive mobs along the paths, saving tougher monsters when closer to the end. That is why my Spider Queen would be a champion, maybe very close to the legendary HP/Deffense we have now, but still a champion.
I agree with the small spiders but I hate this boss appearing from nowhere. It should appear from the corridor, breaking down the doors, very loudy and without a cutscene.
Her abilities would consist on:
- Single target pull.
- Small AoE knock back when many enemies hitting on melee.
- Small AoE poisonous cloud with a very long range.
- The conic immobilize we already have with the addition of a new condition (don’t know if I can classify as condition), a debuff which slows your movement speed on 50% and can be removed only when dodged, caused by the remains of webs on your armor.
- An enviroment reaction at 70% and 30% of it’s HP. It becomes invulnerable and start punching the ground making several rocks falling as small AoEs and knocking players down.
- A basic attack.
Kiling her would generate a waypoint on the center of the room. The following corridor wouldn’t have any graveling and the spike traps replaced by falling rocks.
- Cave Troll
I love this event. But I hate our current troll. No troll on the game, not a single one has this bouncing hadouken. And that makes me question who the hell had that idea and who the hell approved? That is why I consider essential remove this attack from troll and decrease his classification to a champion. Why? Because this would give Kholer victory 100% of the time when fighting each other (Legendary > Champion) and I think Kholer respawn timing should change depending on the path of choice and having an enemy plausible to kill without him is necessary.
- Liutenant Kholer
This guy is amazing. A punch on noob’s face and their moral. I do like his mechanics but I don’t think 5 recent 35 players can kill him. I’d rather decrease his attack power and remain with speed and variety of movements. A very good boss to teach you how to dodge on the right time and how important cross class combos can be.
And as I said above, on Path 1 Kholer should appear from the ground only after finding the first flame scpeter piece and only when getting closer to his “arena”. On paths 2 and 3 he would appear right after defeating the spider queen, but again, only when getting closer to the place he stands (any of the stairs).

On my previous topic “What It Could Be?” I talked about a general idea of what could be changed on dungeons and a brief of how we coul add to them a meaning. On this thread I’ll be a lot more specific and distill what I think AC, as the first dungeon, should be.
IMO dungeons are meant to be harder than the general PvE and remeber the player how dangerous a careless step can be. AC is the first contact of a level 35 with this step ahead, so what he/she should experience?
Dragonbrand Server
Now that our new player is no longer new and got some good equipments through all his progression to level 80, what dungeons must become for him/her? The player now has a lot of utility skills, if not all, has a few weapons and is aware of how tricky bosses can be.
From CoF to Arah, dungeons should be an acid test. They woul recquire a lot of playerskill and team work in order to be completed.
Traps for the unwary, small puzzles to solve (such as the lasers on CoE), a reason to kill all those elit mobs spread along the paths (t5/t6 materials) and legendary bosses who deservers that denomination. Legendary classifiation is the highest in the game, so don’t be so trivial to give it to every boss. They should come with different phases of reaction, sometimes with accumulative phases. They are there to remember us how easily we can die when taking the wrong decisions.
Of course that higher dungeons with a higher difculty woul apply on better reawards. But not only that. I know that as much as you try, gold farmers will always look for the most profitable path and keep repeting it forever, but bringin all those different paths a bit closer woul not close the player base who wants gold to a singular dungeon.
For last, but not least, we have some unique skins spreaded arround tyria. If you want a certain skin you must complete a specific world boss in order to have a chance to drop that equipment. Bring more of this to dungeons. Give to each dungeon tons of unique skins and people will have a reason to come back.
Wow, I’m sorry for extending so much, but there is a lot to talk and I’ll surely post on further topics, on the proper suggetions subforum.
If you reached this far, thank you for reading, and please, share your thoughts

Hello dear devs.
Since flame and frost was announced I thought we would see a lot more improvements to Dungeons and I was waiting for the so called “reestructuring” of them; a glimpse of fresh and challenging new moments.
It was sad to see that we barely had fixes and just a crazy Ascalonian Catacombs was given back.
Time is running and I think the day of this revamp is getting near, so before unnecessary changes are taken, I would like to be heard.
I want to point that I’m not a designer, nor a programer, nor an expert on development of videogames. But I think I have some good points to add to your work.
What do we have now?
Right now we have two different types of dungeons: gold spots and ghost spots. There is absolutly no interest on doing anything else than Citadel Of Flame for it’s incredibly easy way to acumulate gold. Everything else people do for cosmetic gear and once they get it, they won’t ever come back. Yes, I’m generalizing based on what i heard and saw on 3 different guilds i’ve been before.
What could be the future?
I wont go too specific here ’cause I see that dungeons as a whole are suffering from the same basic issues.
What I expect from a dungeon? When I get in there I want to be in a whole new level of PvE. I don’t want to just burst all my cooldowns and end fine. I want moments to think, to coordinate, to be pushed out of my confort zone and sometimes just swing my sword. This is the kind of thing I see a lot on Fractals and I expect to be implemented on all the vanilla dungeons.
But at the same time I can’t forget a new player perspective. For them, dungeons are incredibly scary and so close to impossible they simply give up to try anything before they reach the cap lvl. Every new player who joined those guilds I’ve been complained about that. And it’s curious when I hear your streams on Twitch Tv and you point a lot on how careful the changes have to be so new player don’t get so confused with a ton of mechanics and informations being thrown at them at the same time. What happened with that caution when Ascalon was revamped?
My point here is, the first four dungeons of the game they should be an introduction to what will wait for me on the higher levels. Each should addres very singular mechanics so the new player get used to timing and coordinating and start to realize how different battles will recquire different skills, different weapons and different playstyles.
With that, at the moment this new player reaches level 80 he/she will have a couple of armor pieces from dungeons, a couple from karma and a couple from craft/TP and he/she will be ready for this step ahead of difficulty and will be a much better player.
Before I go ahead to the higher levels dungeons, I’d like to point that along with the singular mechanics the difficulty we have now should be decreased on these first dungeons, specially on the very first one, aka Ascalon. We should also see a progression through the paths dealing with normal, veteran, elit, champion and legendary mobs depending on how close we are to end it.
In addition, this decreased difficult would directly impact on rewards. An easier dungeon would justify a lot of greens and sometimes yellows from the chests and a decrease on how much experience, gold and tokens I get from it.

It took us 30 minutes +/- to do Challenge and Rush after the reset to unlock the Puzzle. The clock on the video is not EST, I’m from Brazil, that is set on GMT -3.
We wanted to make sure all the 90 online players had time to get there and do it, so I’m not 100% sure if we were the first, but i’m claiming it anyway xD
Dragonbrand Server
Hello everyone, I’m very happy to bring to you the world first(?) Guild Puzzle completed with Blood Pact on Dragonbrand server! It took us a lot of dedication to unlock this mission since we are a WvW focused guild, but we did it right on time!
I can’t wait next week to come back to that maze or face new unpredictable traps at the ascalonian catacombs. Right now this is my favorite mission and I hope to see a large variety of them soon
I apologize for not getting all the key elements of the puzzle, but for a broken compass I did very well on the first try :P

I’m with really high expectations on the Guild Puzzles. I really hope they are nothing like the Challenges.
Dragonbrand Server
Yesterday I did the guild challenge with Blood Pact, the first guild to unlock on Dragonbrand server. There was an overall excitment and curiosity on the difficulty and the mechanics of the mission.
We got the Iron Marches challenge, basically, we had to defend one of the Iron Legion’s base camp from being stolen from the Flame Legion with the help of a few siege.
I have to say it didn’t feel that much a challenge. In fact, it was really similar with the several events across Tyria and I missed the presence of a kick kitten boss on the last minutes of the mission.
I know we lost several barrels we had to protect, but just ’cause it was our first try.
I hope to see some changes on the “surprise effect” of the missions and a difficult increase soon. I heard from someone that the Iron Marches is the hardest of the challanges and if so, that is kind of disappointing…. I was hoping to invade that keep at Brisban Wildlands full of legendary bandits :P

You failed the moment you attempted to define art for the mass.
Art’s definition is subjective. […]
Please, don’t take me wrong. I just tried to avoid writing a book to define art before start the topic! >_<
And despite the imparciality which I tried to apply on the first post, I do agree with videogames being art on the same way that I do agree with cinema. For me, all depends on the author intentions and if he succeeds on passing it on.
Art is capable to involve everyone regardless it’s origin, age or monetary power, it will affect anyone who allow it. An example I always like to use is from my mother. A 60 years old woman who never liked videogames but enjoyed to be there and watch all the colossus die and even asked me to teach her how to play so she could enjoy Journey by herself.
There aren’t many but I always welcome all these brand new ideas and moments.
Dragonbrand Server
To avoid a superficial and elitst form of thinking, I’ll not start from the premise of pointing what is art and what isn’t. I think that a creation or expression based on an intention to send to others something, even if unconscious, is a form of art.
In a brief and oversimplified definition, art is the use of specific abilities to express your ideas and/or feelings. And though videogames are legally protected by the US Supreme Court as creative work, it still remains on a philosophical boundary between the art and an entertaiment tool.
Roger Ebert, a renowned film critic, stated that, even if in a controversy way, videogames could never aspire to be art, such as great part of the cinema. “One obvious difference between art and games is that you can win a game. […] Cite a immersive game without points or rules, but I would say then it ceases to be a game and becomes a representation of a story, a novel, a play, dance, a film. Those are things you cannot win; you can only experience them.”
One of the Halo’s franchise games was characterizade by the motto of “Engineering The Fun” and was attended by experts to research and develop specific moments of happiness, frustration and fear. And we saw it being applied later on the Call of Duty games who were there introducing moments and areas to maximize the fun, regardless of any artistic intention. What makes me think that all tripple A games are not art.
In other hands we have the recently released Bio Shock: Infinit, and despite the “Win” objective that acording to Elbert would break all the artistic purpose, it introduces us a rare seen well constructed plot and a even rare dedication to the construction of dialogues, all involved in a scenario that could be present in an art gallery of NY. So as Journey in the beauty of loneliness and Limbo in the beauty of death.
Maybe this obduracy and reluctance of seen games as art comes with the age of itself. For some reason, you can’t interpret new cultural manifestations. Jazz and Samba also faced a hard approval and supposedly were directed to mediocre and small groups and there they would stay. Even though videogames reached a much bigger audience than these two, I still hear people murmuring arguments such as “What do you expect? A Super Mario statue next to Mona Lisa?”.
For last, I want to drop here a link to a video of a very talented man playing Ghosts ’n Goblins song without know it is from a videogame, with a remarkable execution, which could have passed as a classic from the western times. An assertion that not always the art is contained as a whole, but as an individual part of the set.
Now I want to ask you, what do you think? Videogames are art? And more, Guild Wars 2 is art or just entertainment?
Also, a thanks to Carlos Merigo, Saulo Mileti, Guga Mafra, Alexandre Maron and Pedro Burgos, which indirectly brought me to write this topic to our community.

Dragonbrand Server
Man… last night was the best fight I have seen.
I don’t care if there are 3 server on this role, Tier 3 is Dragonbrand vs Yak’s Bend!
The highlights go to the incredile deffense on the Garrison @ Yak’s home borderland and the 40 minuts battle at the inner gate.
Despite the patch at the prime time of WvW that was an amazing night.
Here goes my score update.
Dragonbrand Server
Today I took my morning to read the user agreement of GW2. I confess, once it poped on my screen in didn’t think twice before agree and get right into the game to se the so called “end of culling” (which, by the way, is amazing).
The first paragraphs are the usual “blablablá”, however, the more you read, the more umbelivable it gets. It instantly reminded me of my childhood. Afterall, we all had that spoiled neighbor who always said “The ball is mine, we will play what I want and the way I want.”. This user agreement is no different. It is filled with hole paragraphs stating "We will do, like you or not, be right or wrong and (add the “F” bad word here) your time spent on it".
4. ACCOUNT AND PAYMENTS TO NCSOFT
C – “…NCSOFT may provide subsequent versions, enhancements, modifications, upgrades or patches related to the Software. NCSOFT may, in its sole and absolute discretion, require You to pay for the foregoing or to be making payments under Section 4(b) and, if You do not, NCSOFT may terminate Your Account.(…)”
Buy a DLC or leave the game. Fair enough, right? No.
D-VII “…that the quantity of Gems in Your Account may be increased or decreased by NCSOFT in its sole and absolute discretion for any reason or no reason whatsoever, that You have no right to a refund related to Gems, that there is no right to transfer or exchange Gems, and that NCSOFT may limit Your license to use Gems with respect to any Item, service, Content or time period related thereto.”
Considering I’m filthy rich, and for personal reasons I decided to convert 1000 gold coins into gems and in the next morning, when I log in they will be vanished under the statement of no reason whatsoever. And for the next months or maybe lifetime, I wont be able to convert gold into gems and vice versa. Amazing.
I don’t agree with these terms and I’m sure there are much more I couldn’t completly understand (english is not my main language, it is a bit hard read and fully comprehend all the agreements) but I have to. And I can’t imagin the frustration of being punished on this game under no concrete reasons.
This game is a true story of love and hate. I love what the ANET developer has built over the past five years, but I can’t stop hating the thingers of NCSOFT on it. God curse the day they got theyr hand on the game’s Rights.
But I’ll end my topic with a good thing. The agreements are not worse than the iTunes’s one, which make us agree with “Not using the software to develop weapons of mass destruction”.
Good day, and good game.

I’m working on a build for my necro on WvW and I though how cool would be combining Superior Sigil of Nullification on my main hand, and Superior Sigil of Purity on my off hand. But someone told me "Once one of the sigils’s effect prock, both of them will get in cooldown ’cause all “% chance on critical” sigils share theyr cooldown".
Is it true or not?
Dragonbrand Server
I’m trying to get a good build for my Necro on WvW, heading to siphon and wells. Watching closer the Blood Magic Tree I can see 3 traits which are very similar:
V – Siphon health whenever you crit.
15 (Minor Trait) -Siphon health whenever you hit a foe.
XII – Wells also siphon health when they pulse
My doubt here is if these traits have a not mentioned cooldown or they stack, I mean, hitting a critical will siphon twice and if I crit on my well attack it will siphon 3 times??
Appreciate any further tips for vampirism.

So, I started my legendary now, it is basically my last goal so far on the game. A good friend told me to start from Mystic clovers since they have only 33% of success, but so far I did 7 tries and got 7 success. So, my question is if the success rate changed or I’m just being lucky. I was hopping to get some T6 with the failures =/
