I would like to point to a few things :
1) Having equal TTK between A and B means TTK is defined by statistics.
2) One dose not have to compute an extact TTK because “perfect play” may not be achievable by humans leaving the number some people would like to compute with “brute force” meaningless.
Once you see this TTK “seems” easy to compute really. It doesn’t mean anyone can do it though. You would need a dedicated team to for some time to pull it off fast enough.

This thread is such a farce. Its promoters don’t really understand what they’re talking about. For example, chess is easy to solve conceptually, but its decision tree quickly becomes immense and takes too long to realistically process. We have multiple models for weather, especially if you look at hurricane path prediction. If they’re so great at what they do, why do we still run multiple different ones which come up with different results? The result is that models aren’t perfect. And grandmaster chess computers and meteorological models are run on supercomputers. Much more than what a game developer would have.
When you talk about an MMORPG, there are many more variables and possible decisions than in chess. And because it’s real-time – not turn-based – timing of each decision becomes a further variable. It becomes so ridiculously complex that you can’t realistically solve it. You can try and model it, but models aren’t trivial to do and aren’t perfect. But you can only model what normally happens. If someone puts together an unexpected combination of abilities or traits which wasn’t in the model, what then? Do you put every possible permutation in it and make it even more unwieldy, uncertain, and require immensely more time to run? If it didn’t turn out well, you need to tweak some numbers and do it again.
The best you can realistically do is make a lot of assumptions and look at subsets of encounters in a vacuum. Developers do this a lot and come up with “good enough” balance. It can never be perfect because you’ve made so many assumptions and limited the scope. But maybe once you actually go play it, it may turn out differently. So you go back and tweak it again. Now consider you have a myriad of match-ups and skill interactions which vary. In order to realistically examine that, you make further assumptions about a generic enemy. But that can’t always account for details. For example, slower attacks are more susceptible to blind and block. A defender may end up with an advantage against those.
Worst of all, the OP’s original assumption is that ANet hasn’t balanced TTK. Maybe they have, but your assumption of the value of TTK is incorrect and ANet uses once which is much higher. Maybe they actually balance DPS vs bunker and it’s working how they want it to?

By the way, what skills are you declaring as “passive” condition removal?
Malandru + Poultry soup = -65% condition duration = Passive condition removal
Guardian Pure of Voice and Melandru runes can also be considered “passive” condition-removal because you do not time the shouts for cleansing condition rather cleansing come as a bonus of what they already do.
Purging Flames However is a “legit” AoE condition cleanse because it require coordination and thoughts to get the better of the skill.
Personally I find it completely illogical to want to come into a game mode designed around large scale combat and want to redesign it to add artificial concepts to create handicaps for large forces.
It’s not like there are degrees in size right.. All large groups are not necessarily blobs/zergs.
Personally I think blobbing should be discouraged for several reasons :
1- Lag. Clearly the servers cannot handle blobbing while providing a fluid gaming experience. The lag transform fights into button mashing battles it also affect people that do not blob and it is kind of unfair.
2- Competition. While it is true that playing with 3-4 groups + scouts can be more efficient than blobbing +scouts . Blobbing is by far easier to pull off in term of organization and coordination and still get away with a similar efficiency.
Blobbing also allow to cap structures far too easily when having the advantage of numbers witch in turn makes WvW even more population/coverage dependent.
3- WvW was not designed for large scale fights alone. So if optimal/semi-optimal strategies involve only plays with large groups (? blobs) it should indeed be redesigned.

OP is talking about roaming, and more likely about solo roaming… not ZvZ.
As someone that transferred a few tiers down I can tell you that the lvl player is the same as long as we are talking about roaming.
You are just less likely to get your fights interrupted by a zerg and it’s easier to troll them.

I don’t agree with you. I like my PvP exclusive items being PvP exclusive and do not want random PvErs getting them for doing PvE.

I am currently on FSP and fed up with the Zerg and Blob spirit of T1 and I feel the time to Xfer has come.

I head that server “fullness” may change during the day, so trying to transfer during “off hours” may work.
Pirate-ships as you call them are far from being optimal.

The build is fine and people just die quick when they random dodge and spam skill using it. At least against me .

While I could see it used in WvW I dont think it would make it to PvP let alone in PvE. At least now we could use it with halting strike to get decent AoE damage in zerg situation…

The idea behind fixed phantasms damages was that i feel phantasm should always deal decent damage whether you play power or condi (especially staff and torch ones) not to reward playing in tanky and summoning AI.
Maybe indexing phatasms damage on max(power, condi) could salvage the idea.

Honestly comparing WvW and PvP does not seem really wise because because gear and lvl are standardised in PvP.

By lack of mobility I meant you can never move faster than thief/ele/mesmer(portal) as a guardian even with perma swiftness.
An yeah you pretty much lack dps against bunkesr (depends on guardians builds) + getting some furry would be nice.
A first draft team would be :
You would need Soldier/Zerker/Barbarian or Celestial amu on the Support guard though because the team needs dps.

I’m playing the meta Staff/GS shatter build in* WvW* for solo roaming. I fell the build is really balanced in term of offensive and defensive abilities but more often than not i find myself losing to Sw+T/GS shatter players. the determining factors seems to be :
1- One more stealth skill ( for burst or target drop)
2- More offensive abilities through sword + blurred frenzy.
How do you guys deal with them ? All tips and advise are welcome !!!

He means players are characters on skyhammer map and the devs control the hammer.
When something is bad for the game they press the nerf button and the “nerfhammer” nerf to the ground whatever they targeted !
I want them back too.
They were still better than the 4v5 auto-balance-war-of-musical-chairs.

I have been playing in FSP for about a week now and I have not seen much roamers/havoc squad/spawn farmers.
So I am now currently looking for dedicated roamers to form squads of 4-8 players to tag thing/flip low tier structures and farm slackers (you know those guys that re-spawn 1 min after the zerg <3).
Some precision about how I like to do this :
Personally I don’t think the players involved need to be in the same guild to do this but joining/recruiting is possible if it’s necessary :<
What about WvW/PvP players ?
I don’t want to PvE + map exploration . I find fighting AI super boring and the less the better.
We also earn less gold than PvE players so 40g is a huge amount of gold.
From my perspective their is absolutely no benefit to the new traits system expect the fact that you can re-spec freely (which was not really expensive to begin with).
I’m not convinced. How many traits are available to a new player through normal gameplay? And what would a new player consider normal? We’re talking new player, not us rolling a new alt.
With the previous // With the current system a new player could:
Start reading/learning about his own traits at lvl 11
Now he has to wait until 30.He could try out builds and learn the advantages of his grandmaster talents from lvl 60
Now he has to wait until 80.The way this community works, it is unlikely for a new player to hit explorable dungeons before lvl 80. Now it is even more unlikely since we will start seeing players lvl 80 who will have absolutely no clue about his own traits because not only he didn’t had the chance to equip them but now he doesn’t even have them!
Sounds like he should hop in HoTM and take a look at his traits then….they are all unlocked in PvP. He can test builds and everything….

70-80% is not that many (lowest hp-pool) how it looks like^^
hp pool means absolutely nothing
If you heal 8000 HP on an ele you heal 80% of its health pool
If you heal 8000 HP on a warrior you heal 40%.I’d like to see warrior buffed to have 10.000 base HP so he could heal 80% also

1st you have 2 threads to close.
As the title says. I am sick and tired of playing against no brain ultra safe stealth and teleport spammers. It is bunker up or die. I know that the condition/sustain metagame is rampant at the moment, but there is a reason for that.
Namely, the THIEF counters every single glass cannon build. To a lesser extent the mesmer as well. This led to bunker conditions which led to overbuffing of warriors. The thief is toxic and backstabbing, stealth spamming and heartseeker is totally dumb to play against.

IMO he is mostly right. Condition builds/ PU mesmers were created in reaction to thieves.
