Remove Bell Choir "Play as you like" portion

kitten , no shame to the grind huh?
Personally hope that A-Net never does something like this, the main reason to do these winter events is for the fun, I am personally not gonna grind, this or the next year. But them having a more open and welcoming event, is never a bad thing in my eyes.

I get that you might waste 4 minutes (or 1), but what is the reason to do the events if not for fun at this point? Rewards is far from good enough to use hours on end on the event

Uhm actually a stack of gifts were selling like 20 gold some time long. Which is a very good rate in an hour. You get 18 gifts per run in 5 minutes. So you can easily get a stack in one hour. Which makes it a good farm for gold.

And, to add to the fact you labeling people “farming gold” is wrong. They are farming drinks for the Winter’s Presence.
I myself am enjoying the Bell Choir more than other content because I am good at it.

And removing the extra “play as you like” section doesnt hinder anything. As you re only bound to either “upper” “lower” or “medium” tunes, you cant even produce a good piece of music alone. There is absolutely no reason for that part to exist.

An advice : Skritt want to disappear when they reach 10% health. You can interrupt that disappear animation by hitting them with a snowball. Then they will get up and try to disappear again. In which case you can hit them again and basically “stunlock” them until you got your 10 hits. This is easier to do as the other players tend to skip on such skritt as “already done”

An achievement for hitting max MF that awards a luck eater wouldn’t be a bad idea. Only thing is that its just another eater for players who more than likely already have several clogging up their inventories.

That is an amazing Idea. Simple. Fits the game as it is now and easy to implement.

Ok, then my only question to you guys remains: Why wasnt it like this before HoT, how did it happen to coincide with the coming out of the autoloot mastery?

Can the amount of players cotribute to this? Maybe it is simple as the fact that more people are playing the game and farming more of the mats before?

Why AP for the top 250 titles is not cool

in PvP

Posted by: Revilrad.1962

Revilrad.1962

I’m sorry but I fully disagree with removing the AP from these titles.

I’m in top 25 for the AP leaderboard aswell.

It sets a bad precedent for people complaining about these kind of issues in the future.

You cannot get everything in this game and that’s whats nice about it but some people feel entitled that they should for some reason.

Yeah I fully understand it’s for 250 people only. but if you are going to go that route then re-release all the non-permanent AP from living stories and other events/festivities that people cannot get anymore. That is just plain hypocrite because they would complain about that too. (I haven’t missed a single one since game release so I’m not biased)

On the contrary, there should be more AP like this that only few/certain people can get to make some diversity and competition in the rankings because as it is right now it’s more about playing since launch and not missing anything so other people will never be able to compete with the top players.

In the end, a decision has already been made and I respect it but I still wanted to share my opinion.

“It sets a bad precedent for people complaining about these kind of issues in the future.”
It only shows anet has decided what AP system should look like and set it in stone. That is something good and not bad.

“But if you are going to go that route then re-release all the non-permanent AP from living stories and other events/festivities that people cannot get anymore.”
Yeah they should. And they should stop introducing more mess to it. That is what they did now.

“On the contrary, there should be more AP like this that only few/certain people can get to make some diversity and competition in the rankings because as it is right now it’s more about playing since launch and not missing anything so other people will never be able to compete with the top players.”
With other people you mean new players? How should they even compete with top 250 players? That sounds more like you found out a way to get higher in the AP ratings but whining becasue someone took it from you. Definitely not like you care about “other people”

The AP hunters seem to be those “everyone gets a participation trophy” type of people from the looks of it. Rewarding everyone just for trying. Perhaps they need to look up the definition of achievement. There should be some exclusive things that not everyone could get, you should be rewarded for being the best. If you want it badly enough, you’ll try to be the best. I’m disappointed Anet. Stop carebearing so much. Since you want everything to be obtainable by everyone, how about we make legendary armor purchacable for wvw badges and pvp currency? How do ya feel about that? Its only fair right?

I actually made a thread about that.
If I complain about AP being exclusive , I dont stop just there. I complain about “not achievable” exclusivity all the time. Things shouldn’t stay permanent exlusive. You got it as one of the first? Others will follow you in 1 year and you will be then already have another hard to get achievement which was introduced in the meantime.

It should be more a race where you run after the top ones and not some marathons where the first second and third place is alredy decided before it even got started.

Most important, people need to understand that the most and actually the only inaccessible content is the Raids, everything else in the game is easily PuGable over LFG.

Basically the whole discussion turned out to be between players who want to play the other players and players who want to play the game.

You can get your PvP backpack by having a ratio of 120 wins to 1200 losses in 5 seasons by absolving in nothing other than bronze.
You can get your dungeon Skins by PvP reward tracks or doing the easiest paths over and over again. You can ake a LFG yourself with “noobs welcome” and clear ARAH in 1,5 hours instead of a pro group in 30 min.
You can train yourself to fractals as it introduces you slowly to the difficulty of the content. AR is the only limit and it is just a lazy farm of infusions.
You can watch Walking Dead as you mindlessly zerg around in WvW to get badges of honor.

I disagree with the very premise of the OP. We are not all created equal, but ANET gives us equal opportunities to complete the content. Failure to do so is our issue regardless if it is real life, insufficient skill or any other of a myriad of excuses.

Otherwise have a special little snowflake slide bar that everyone can set for themselves. That slide bar will indicate the level of difficulty the individual user wants in order to acquire things in the game. The low setting is “Push one button, give me everything” to what it is now.

I completely disagree,
see being able to clear Raids do not indicate that you are a good player at all.
Someone who is very very good at PvP or master Rank Fractals know their profession at least as good as someone who raids.

In fact I consider Raids nothing more than memorizing patterns and copy/pasting a build from metabattle and buying food.
If you consider that hard content Ill leave you that.

And I never said I want press F to get skins.
What I want is that skins and APs are not blocked behind walls which has nothing to do with hardness of the content.

Raids are not harder than other high end content, they are just inaccessable.

If there is no reward for minority, there is no minority.
If there is no minority to look up to everyone is equal.
If everyone is equal the game end up in a stand still.
If the game is in a stand still, player end up with no goal.
Players with no goal are quickly bored.
Bored player quit the game.
Eventually the game lacking in player will die out like the vast majority of the games out there.

Well, not really. Look;
I do not need to see another player and say cool, I want his armor. Every skin in the game is listed in the wardrobe. Every achievement in the game is listen in the Hero Panel.
In extreme terms GW2 is nothing more than a Single Player game with a very very extensive amount of content you can collect, in a world shared with other players.
It is like playing All assasins creed games and collecting all the collectibles to reach 100% completion.
That should be your goal, not the “I want to have an armor just for myself”

The Game needs to decide in which direction it is going. Until now, Guild wars 2 succeeded in containing a healthy competitive motivation.
Motivation was the competition itself. You played PvP for the sake of fighting with other players. Not to get skins so you can show off.

At the time competition becomes “having more exclusives others cant get to show off”. You will basically turn down all the new players. If the casual player base gets the feeeling no matter how much time they invest, if they cant get some specific things, they will stop caring.

Maybe I am way too completionist minded.

The Game since Launch in 2012 has always had Exlusive skins behind All Game Modes that you cannot get anywhere else……

Not every Skin is Listed in the Wardrobe unless you already own the skin.

Exclusives promote a healthy reason to try different game modes.

And if players are conpletionist minded then be should be fine with and familiar with all Gamemodes since there are exclusives behind all Gamemodes both skins and achievements, if they are an actual completion it’s they don’t get to pick and choose what they deem counts for being a completionist since it means doing/getting everything which means doing everything the game offers, which negates the whole exclusive skins argument since you would need to complete all content to be a completionist….

Yes but all the Gamemodes besides Raids can be completed without changing the principals I explained in my OP.
PvP -> PUG/Solo Cue OK
WvW -> PUG/Solo OK
Dungeons -> PUG OK
Fractals -> PUG OK
PvE World -> PUG/Solo OK

Raids -> Needs commited 10 Men to form a almost job like relationship to clear.

Raids alone stand against to all the other content in the way it is designed.
also PUGable or Soloable doesnt mean “Easy” in my wording.
Doing Master rank fractals is hard. But I can Watch some videos and go and PUG it.

With RAIDs that is not possible. Not because it is hard but becasue it demands time and coordination of whopping 10 people.

Wooden Potatoes did a very good explanation of this why Raids are misimplemented.

And Adding exclusive Skins, Armor, AP and even masteries to such content is wrong IMO. Just remove the exclusive part then it is good to go. Add the legendary armor to out of raids and problem solved. Or make the Raids 5 men content and leave it as hard it is.

This will be a general long talk about the game’s focus on how to reward the differently commited parts of the community (casual <-> hardcore)

So please try to understand the both sides of the coin and dont bring hate on the replies.

I consider following points to be the main pillars of defining GW2’s gameplay :

No treadmill-Gearing -> Which results in players reaching the end of vertical progression very fast and thus makes it a game of horizontal progression. This is where the skins come in play.
Easy to reach LevelCap -> Which shifts the focus a of a player to be better in using his/her profession than running after infinite stats and ever higher DPS.
No Holy Trinity -> Along with not permanent builds, this encourages players to play with many alts and explore the different builds. Also enables players to clear most PvE
content Solo as each profession is capable of tanking/dps/utility.
Shared Loot and Dynamic Grouping -> Enables players to Solo content more easily, eliminates trolling and griefing in PvE and encourages grouping while making it as easy as standing near someone without even talking to him.

I can add more to this but I think you can follow where I want to point at.
GW2 is in its core a very very Solo friendly MMO, in fact I strongly believe this is why this game has such a high success.
I also believe that the core playerbase of GW2 are players who mainly Solo content but are also in a Guild and have friends in game, but use the community only to clear content which is otherwise not soloable. What I mean by this, I believe GW2 players do not play in groups If the content doesnt need it.

To add to this, as the horizontal progressive nature of the Game is dominant, that creates a “completionist” mind in the core solo playars. With other words, I believe, Achievement hunting, skin collecting, and world completion are the main goal of this veteran solo player base.

Now, If you accept that analysis I put forward about the veteran player base, the worst type of content you can add to the game is the type which awards exclusive content that not obtainable through solo/casual PUG play.

Rais for an example, I understand completely the need of having content for a hardcore minorty of the players. I am happy about it, In fact I even consider myself not casual and want to do raids myself.

But do you really need to add otherwise unobtainable content to the raids (i.e. Legendary Armor) to reward this players? Every other skin/item in the game is obtainable through gold farming. Why do I need suddenly commit myself to a hardcore 10 man content to get an armor-set? I can PUG WvW skins, I can pug PvP skins, I can Pug Dungeon skins, I can pug Fractal skins.
Why can’t I pug Raid skins?

You could reward Raid players 100 gold per Wing clear I wouldnt care. But do not reward minorities with exclusive content please.
If the Raid minority demands exclusive content, that means only that their original motivation was only to show off and not really challenging content.

Please add legendary armor to be obtainable out of Raids, and do not reward minorities withe exclusive skins/items.

PS: Raids here is just an example, that mindset should be maintained through all future content.

Why AP for the top 250 titles is not cool

in PvP

Posted by: Revilrad.1962

Revilrad.1962

This whole thread makes me sad for the future of our entire world.

No one in this game should have 30k AP and still be considered alive.

30k is not the problem. You can have 33k AP with half of my playtime, but it takes exponentially more effort to progress the closer you are to having 100% of the achievements.
The last 40 AP will literally take me another ~3500 hours.

why are you even building AP? like, whats the point?

AP is the only and on serious achievement of a player in gw2 PvE. Almost every skin in the game can be bought with gold. There is absolutely no “show off” effect in carrying 2 legendaries at the same time. You just farmed gold to buy them off the TP.
Come with 40k AP and full Radiant Armor Set then I know you are are a Pro player becasue you had to painstakingly go through every aspect of the game and chew through that achis.

AP collecting is the only and sole long term goal for the end game PvE players. Period.

Further on,

I also want to add my complete dislike of adding further AP Points to unaccessible things like Raids and PvP Rank Lists. Design the AP Points so that 50 % of the base can get them.
Elitist players wanted Raids. Give them gold as rewards and leave them be. They can get 1k gold out of raids in one week, I dont care.
Give PvP “masters” their titles so they can brag. Do the Same for WvW. But please do not tie AP Points to content meant for 1% of the playerbase.

I can cnofirm that you need all hidden achievements for this. I got my Bloodstone Crown
and meta achievment but the story Page still showed grayed out. I checked Dulfy for hidden achievments and found out I was missing “Don’t Cross the Streams”. When I finished that achievment, my story mastery turned gold.

I find this irritating, hidden achievements are hidden for a reason. They should never contribute to a meta anyway. If you need to check a guide to get a mastery then it should be considered ill implemented.

Adventures are absolutely annoying, I am a completionist minded player and having to do this extremely annoying Minigames is just makes me rage. I exploited, glitched and Dulfy’ied my way to many gold rankings now. And feel zero accomplishement from this. They are like the JPs after people done them once for the achievment they wont ever ouch them again.

They seem to be absolutely unbalanced too. Whereas collecting scrap can be done w/o any videos or guides on less than 5 tries in Gold ranking, Collecting Exalted masks is pure RNG.

I find it O.K if there are players who like this kind of things, let them play. They have their own ranking too if they want a little competition, but hiding Mastery Points and Achivements behind those are absolutely no-go. Let people who enjoy them get their daily Rares from it. Is ok Bu please remove them from the map section of achievements.

True for now, but later on when the hype dies off, people who didnt Exploited CoF to get masteries will be then able to reach the Mastery Locked Points, when no one else will be around.

Of course the Farm minded community wont give a single kitten , coz they are zerging anyway.

OK. Listen.
- Doing CoF over and over and over again without stopping to amass gold, where your
brain is already dead andwa
- Running like idiots in SW to dig for chests, whereas you could do amazing VW event.
- Deliberately scaling up and failing events to spawn champs, creating trains out of this
kitten.
- Killing the Champions spawning at Claw of Jormag to get loot, instead of Dragon
itself.
- Epxloiting your way to end of ARAH or some hard reached Coins, and Selling it on
LFG.
-
-
-
I could count numerous other kitten, gold-farm oriented self called “hardcore” playerbase is doing to utterly destroy every move Anet does to increase playability. Every move anet does to balance rewards and try to broaden the spectrum of stuff to do around tyria, some player comes and kittens in middle of it by creating some “gold/per/minute” exploit, farm.

New thing is now people use endless waves of enemies in CoF to earn mastery points.

There is absolutely nothing, anet can do to make you happy. OK? You are not to satisfy. You just want more gold per hour, I want to play content. You would repeat CoF till you dire out of boredom and blame Anet for not creating engaging content.

If Anet would just increase rewards of new contentm you would shift your farming there and farm till new content is there again. Anet tries to get you out of your disease ridden CoF and encourages you to see the world by taking your toys and you complain.

I suggest anet to give 1mil gold to every whining “hardcore” player so they cna buy the kitten they want and get bored faster and GTFO here.

At this time Vines started to drop Foxfire Clusters and Mobs lots of T5 materials.

At the time the map was “advanced” enough so people joined i got a DC . I was able to rejoin becasue I was in a party but lost all my buffs.

I wish this buffs had sime kind of Countdown, after it they expire, similiar like celebration boosters, instead of going immeadiately lost.

A game based on farming and whose end-game goal is to amass gold will always be plagued with gold/hour, elitist and snobby mind-sets. It is not that easy to change this core principles sadly.

I am not stupid. This guy is farming exact same location on the exact same path with exact same skill usage. Nobody does that. I farmed same things too why do you think I return to that place everytime? He is clearly botting.
And I dont care how much money he is making, he is cheating and should be banned. Probably he is selling his gold somewhere. Even worse.

I do not know how many times I reprted this guy whose char name I am not allowed to write here becasue ANET does not permit this.

There is a population of Vulture Raptors inhibiting the area south of “Town of Cowlfang’s Star Waypoint”. This guy is running his bot on a Thief with “golden” achievement (imagine how he achieved that) 24/7 without stopping. I encountered him for the 3rd Day consequently. He is running the same pattern, the same skills and wont react to whispers.

I cannot imagine how much Slabs of Poulty Meat he flooded into the TP already.

I call all the honest players of Piken Square who want to make the GW2 a beter place to Report this player when they are in the vicinity.

Just tried ESO

I power tested ESO, reached lvl 30 in 1 week and finsihed 3 areas and did many hours PvP.

I just need to tell for those who want to try the game :

Community is TERRIBLE. I am serious. Most of the time PvE Players in ESO turn off the chat. There are many Elder Scroll Fans who try to get some Single Player experience by doing this.

Besides, ESO lacks aTrading Post and its LFG tool is bugged and people dont use it.
that leads people spamming the /zone Chat with trading, grouping and recuiting messages.

That again leads to PvE players turning off their chat.

So If you are in a public dungeon or in general zone, nobody answers or helps yo because nobody hears you. /Say & /Yell are completely useless.

You get outright ignored and helped only in %5 of the time. And if you complain, people just mute you.

ESO’s has no open Cooperation, every spawn, every chest or every event needs to be fight over.

It is like other players are disturbing you in your playthrough, and if you need someone in the rarest occasions no body answers you.

GW2 please welcome me back! I will enver go again!

Yeah but conversations are not really cutscenes. And seriously you should have 10 seconds extra to skip the conv as fast as it gets.

But you can actually skip the Cutscenes? I did mastery yesterday of Seeds of Truth. Took some repeats but the cutscenes were skippable and you can just run directly the chapter you want to repeat seperaately ( purple LW waypoints )

Gw2 Suggestions - Please change the game

Some Remarks how usual high-fantasy the GW2 is -.
1 – You have the same Magic flowing through the world/people principle. Its in almost
every Fantasy setting → Star Wars, call it Force
2 – Gods are just beings with a lot magic amassed, Gods can be replaced by Humans
through Ascension → D&D Forgotten Realms cliché
3 – Magic is divided into Elements like in any other fantasy game EVER
Lightning/Air/Fire/Earth/Death/Illusion….etc…
4 – Although made really nice a simple comparsion can be made here :
Humans are humans…
Asura are highly intelligent Gnomes, live in Underworld…
Norn are like your lovely 24/7 Barbarians from North..
Sylvari can be compared with wood elves.
Charr are bloodthirsty warmongers can be compared to Orcs
5 – There are dwarves….
6 – You fight Dragons…. D..R…A..G..O..N..S..!!!

How more fantasy like you want to get actually?
Sylvari in their born through a tree Concept and being a new Race is something fresh.
Everything else is nothing new.

If we would have a Godless universe , where Magic is gained through conusming Human flesh you could call this a somewhat new fantasy setting. But no GW2.

Superior Rune of Trench Coats (6/6)
(1): Chest piece skin is replaced by a full-length trench coat.
(2): Leggings skin is replaced by the pants best described as “Something that Columbo would wear”.
(3): Headgear skin is replaced by an umbrella hat.
(4): Glove skins are replaced by large, over-sized rubber gloves.
(5): Footwear skins are replaced by thick rubber waders.
(6): While wearing armor with all 6 runes, each successful event completed by the player gains 1 Trench Coat Claim Ticket.

5000 Trench Coat Claim Tickets can be exchanged for an Outfit item called, “The Trench Coat”.

Jesus this Idea with the farming items with equipped runes to exchange into a special Item is awesome !!!!

Could combine with weakening Runes to enable some new goals for the whining “hardcore” players. Not even a change in game needed!!! Thumbs up!

One more to add to the list:

  • Precursor Crafting

Long overdue and plenty of debate on it from hoarders, TP ‘gurus’ and people who legitimately want a non-RNG way to obtain the hardest-to-get item(s) in the game.

Very very very very bad idea.
There is almost NOTHING in this game which is not aquirable by doing mindless CoF Runs and buy it in TP.

What actually need to be done is to make Pre-Cursors soulbound so they are not tradable.
Only that would make a legendary an actuall long term goal and reason to farm.

PvE players demanding, impossible to satisfy

Julischka, no.
Stop trying to analyze the behavior of thousands of players and attempt to pass your poor analysis as a fact.
This goes to everyone.
Think for a second, make an effort.
Do you think, do you genuinely believe that the Living Story updates are enough to attract new players?

Do you think that Living Story updates are enough to hook the content “junkies”?

The problem is something a lot more insidious than just “players doing content too fast”. Even though “content” is an abstract amount, in a way, it’s something that can be quantified to a certain extent and whether a player does it fast or slow is irrelevant.

The issue is the very idea behind the Living Story.

As an analogy, imagine a thirsty man in a desert, this guy wants water, and he finds a canteen, however, the canteen only lets out trickles/drops of water.

Get it?
A BIG update/expansion, with lots of things to do will keep players happy and busy for a longer time than an update that adds a few hours of gameplay at best.

So lets do a summary :

Players need an Expansion.
Truth : Anet is probably developing one at the moment.

Thread 912131 about expansion demanding can be closed because players ignore the fact you cant fill an endless hole.
