How do you approach balancing?
I don’t mean with number crunching, making something equal to something else. As balancing is much more than that. Fun (is it fun?), versitility (How many uses does it have?), usability (How easily is it used?), viability (How useful is this?) are all factors to consider.
My question is: What do you do when you have something useless?
Anet will never answer these kind of questions because they’d be flamed back as hell..
just realize this game have lost much of it’s good and simply play for fun when other games are offline

basically it’s a tanky meditation build with very good healing (meditations+dodges+aegis), lots of burning on block (+retal),CC (hammer) and Condition cleanses (meditations)
anyone tried something similar?
beside skyhammer (where usually i just need to banish people in the sky..) this build seems very resilent even in 1vs2 situations

Starting dozens of different threads is not a good way to give them feedback. I wanted to have the chance to give reasonable feedback, not starting dozens of threads all saying “omg I want necromancer to be the exact profession I want it to be, and I want it right now, even though this is totally counter to everything necromancer is and its impossible to make the changes I want in the amount of time!”.
People don’t understand what reasonable feedback means. Instead they want the game to be exactly what they want it to be, when they want it to be, without any consideration for anything else besides what they want. No understanding of priorities, of theme, of what game ANet is making, of how long changes take, or what is even reasonable to change.
I’m all for reasonable feedback. A lot of what has been going on is in absolutely no way reasonable.
Those unreasonable posts and threads you’re talking about are a natural responses from the necromancer community. If anet at least reverted some change they made because of dhuumfire, I’ll agree with you. But, it simply wasn’t the case. It was only a quality of life change. Once again, necromancer are stuck in the same place, while every other professions except 2 of them got some significant buffs that furhter increase their builds diversity. Also, no offense Bhawb, but playing the part of the grande dame doesn’t help either.

Be part of the solution and not the problem. “whaaaa, whaaaa, fix this now or I no play moar……………….” does not aid in solving the problem, because if you are unhappy with the fix, you complain further. If you like, I can list some necro changes that you have personally complained about after they were changed, to see my point.
Calling someone “lazy” for offering sound advice doesn’t help. Particularly when bellowing complaints while avoiding putting any effort in listing solutions is infinitely lazier.
Similarly to posters claiming that devs do or do not play certain professions. You might as well be spamming post in which your literally begging to be ignored, when you make uninformed claims and proof-less accusations. I mean they have made multiple post notifying folks how they immediately discount post and entire threads when they are unreasonably bashed in such a way.
You guys take action in a manner that completely contradicts your own best interest. Then actually feel like the correct coarse of action is to bash anyone offering communication advise or by making back handed insults and fact-less accusations in the direction of those who put in the actual labor to make the changes.

The necromancer needs more attention, and we should keep posting till someone takes notice. It’s about time some of the devs started playing a necro as a main, and it is about time they started giving the class some love. Fix our core issues, or I simply won’t be playing.

What is a power valid? Do you refer to valid power build? If so, there are a few.
Unless you answer those two question, “claiming” they need rebuilt comes off as nothing more them aimless complaining with no actual direction. I am not disagree or even agreeing with you for that matter, I am simply suggesting to you what I feel Anet reads out of it.

First of all just a friendly reminder: pvp isn’t about 1v1.
That said, You’re going 6 points into radiance without RHS. That’s the only reason ( along with precision boost) to go that far into the traitline. You can either swap to gs/sw/f and trait for a classic meditation build, or go on with traiting for sword damage and swap a trait for RHS. Staff is a bad weapon for 1v1. Arguably, staff is a bad weapon period, if you don’t have AH.
i perfectly know that spvp is not just 1vs1 :P i’m a “championX” with other 4 professions..just wanted to make a build for 1vs1 duel only rooms.
anyway: RHS is really that good compared to Searing flames? i mean, in the build i made i have a solid 45% base of crit chance which goes to 65% due to fury pretty easily, so isn’t it redundant? Ok, Searing Flames has a 10s cooldown but i can use it many times in a duel with both VoJ and Judge’s Intervention.
You kind of have the right idea, but it’s unoptimized. First of all no staff, staff isn’t really a weapon, let alone a dueling weapon. It’s more of a support tool. If you want to run a build like this I’d recommend more on the lines of 2/6/6/0/0/ or 0/6/6/1/1. Also Save Yourselves isn’t that great in pvp due to the boon duration nerf it has there.

this is my first guardian build (so please be patient with me, i’m here to learn), i never played this profession and i’ll use it just for spvp for now.
i looked for a very fast setup able to put a lot of pressure on the opponet (especially on the squishy-jumping-ones) while keeping good sustain in both healing and condition cleanses.
the goal of this build is not to shut down the opponent quickly but instead being sufficiently hard to kill while kittening to death the opponent with tricks and both conditions and raw power.

Being honest I’m not sure Anet really cares about the poll. What is more effective is discussion that supports our unhappiness, instead of just saying we’re unhappy with these changes.

I think I will go with wells and siphons, something like this:

Is berserker only enough to survive? Or is it worth to invest in some Soldier or Knight pieces?
usually new players start mixing dps and survival stats until they are confident enough to wear a full dps set.
unfortunately in this game dps > survivability since well timed dodges and good skill rotations are the only good way to not die in both pve and pvp, so maximizing dps is the best way always.
for necros btw dps comes from both raw power and conditions (and these have totally different sets to look on) so it is important to understand how do you wanna play your necro before chosing your gear.
atm the best necro builds are all power-based that’s why berserker gear is your best choice

Your main build in dungeons and fractals:
- 1) 6/4/0/0/4 — General Purpose DPS: S/S + (S/F or S/P) — This is the primary build
When you need any type of reflects use:
- 2) 6/4/0/4/0 — Full Reflection Uptime: S/S + S/F — This is the secondary build
I usually just stay in the primary build.
And of course if the bosses are dying so fast and there’s no point in using your phantasms or the boss destroys your phantasms and they won’t stay up use:
- 3) 6/6/0/0/2 — Full DPS, S/S + (S/F or S/P)
This one I have no comment on, don’t use:
- 4) Others, like 6/5/0/0/3, are a compromise between build 3 and 1.

it’s purpose is to pop up iWardens very fast keeping pressure with sword (melee range) or GS (at range) buffing as much as i can phantasms health and damage with traits and utilities. I usually switch then Null Field with Portal Entre if the party does not suffer too much from conditions.

I am currently lvl 71 grinding my way to 80 (hope to reach it in two days) thanks to eotm and wvw. I know it’s not the best or advisable way to lvl up and learn a profession but since it’s my fifth and last toon to bring to 80 i looked for the “easy way”..
Now
I have done some practice in spvp with average results trying different playstyles but i admit i am far from knowing what to do and what i must not do with my mez.
I am looking for a simple guideline that describes the different “builds” (be it mantra,pu,power,shatter,condi and their mixes) to understand a little more what to do with each..
Basically these are the things i feel to know better:
-when and if i should shatter clones
-when and if i should stealth
-when and if i should melee

to answer OP: NO. as others already stated Adrenaline and DS are so different that asking for a counterbalance to lifeforce gain is just newbish and wrong.
just gank em down. once i spot the real mez press F2, Doom and Autoattack him to death. they can be tough as they want but power DeathShroud crits usually take 3-4 hits to finish the job

i agree with you guys with your in-depth analysis of necro’s skills and situation
but as i do you too recognize the fact that necromancers too have their uses, i’m just sad when i see comments like “necros are kitten in fractals/dungeons” or “roll a guard/warr/ele/thief..” when WE CAN actually do stuff too.
it is demotivating for a user to look for advices and read only negative comments about his profession.
necros (as i told before) maybe are not the best in doing certain things (cleansing,buffing,spiking) but they actually can do all of them, it is a very viable profession that can cover different roles in a party (while others dont..)
so i didn’t want to look as a troll but i’m trying to defend necro’s uses
we are not ineffective as someone wants to make us look :P
keep giving help to new users or demanding people

add Ritual of Protection to have each pulse grant Protection on aoe
i’m not saying that other professions can’t do similar stuff but necros can actually bring more utility in a fractal party than some other professions

i do my stuff just to see 4 people just roaming around tryin to kill others and being mauled badly.
these matches usually end 500-150
so how to deal with uncoordinated groups?
