FOTM return to the Mistlock Observatory

After completting 2nd fractal, group auto returned to the Mistlock Observatory instead progressing to the 3rd fractal.

It’s second time this issue happened to me out of 93 runs, so it isn’t much frequent. My theory is when everyone else is accepting “Fractal Transit Query” to the next fractal, last member probably clicked to the “return to the mistlock observatory” button.

Or. Somebody trolled and pressed the “return” button just before “Fractal Transit Query” table popped up. And everyone else just didn’t noticed small diference in the text and auto-pilot accepted.

Personally I am not sure where is the issue. I don’t want to test it on some innocent pug group just to mess their effort. After all , returning to the Mistlock Observatory completely erase all progression in the FOTM. Did anybody else had same experience (except those two unlucky groups I was in) ?

Annoying Tequatl Bugs Compilation

I would like to apologise for reviving very old bug thread , but it seems some bugs that were reported year ago are still there. Turrets still stops responding.

I am encountering it since I started actively participating on Tequatl encounter, since september 2014.

Behavior: Turret stay still when you press buttons. UI still displays recharge time for used skills, but there’s no effect (1 damage, 2 scale penetration ….).
Frequency: at least once per encounter, sometimes in first phase, sometimes when megalaser is charged
Trigger: Unknown. But there’s significantly higher chance turret stops responding in the first few second at the start of the phase.
Bypass: Playsible. When you leave turret and double dodge away (or run away into certain distance) and then return back, there’s very high chance turret will work again.

Every system can (and usualy is) abused so it’s very hard to construct rules that can help the community and won’t harm innocent people. Usually the most toxic players are the ones who will attempt to misuse system for their own advantage. (Imagine mid-sized guild where members will upvote each other)

Personally I would preffer application of the dungeon rules that were used in World of Warcraft. Augmented for GW2 LFG system, of course.

I would put some extra rules on party kicks for example, I really don’t like current GW2 state that any 2 players can remove you from party at their free will at any time. Especially in FOTM which are pretty time consumming.

For example:
-party kicks will be unlocked after three wipes on a single boss where each attempt had at least 120 seconds duration.
-party kicks will be unlocked on characters who are flagged AFK – 120 seconds without activity (damage to the boss, for example)
-make it harder to kick someone in 3/4 and 4/4 fotm dungeon. Longer queues for example.

I must support that. That’s one of the reasons I have chosen sylvari as my main. They are only ones (and maybe asura) who are able to smile.

I was running lvl19 fractal after the patch with some random pug. It didn’t went well so they solved the situation by kicking all non-guildies out from the run. Despite fact it was unpolite (and surely reportable as I did nothing wrong), problem was elsewhere.

LFG blocked me to join any other party after that. After clicking JOIN button it turned grey, without any other effect. Two – three more clicks and I was rewarded by “You have joined too many parties recently” message.

Location: open world, dungeons (and probably the rest of the maps)
Frequency: rare (bug encountered 5 times a month)
State: combat, out of combat
Efect: downed or defeated character isn’t interactive and it isn’t possible to revive it

So far I know it’s relatively old bug that strikes random players upon being downed or defeated. People who are trying to REVIVE downed character affected by bug aren’t able to do se. Even in closest proximity and pressing “f” key doesn’t have any effect.

In the open world maps it’s a minor issue, but inside Fractal of the mysts it significantly affects gameplay. None from the party members were able to revive.

This is a blocking issue, Anet usually takes that somewhat more seriously than “one random event is broken” kind of bugs . The Luminescence set is pretty much the most prestigious armor in game too..

I do understand your frustration. I spend multiple months bumping issue with connectivity (game was purely inaccessible between 6 – 8pm on daily basis) with nearly no response on forum. I am glad that issue is gone.

But as I previously wrote, Anet does not fix things fast. Despite fact how major it is, my bet is it is caused by limitted resources.
Some minor bugs are live for over half a year now (invisibility bug in fractal dungeons for example), so all we can do is to be patient and keep bumping the thread.

Gw2 is a great game, but it’s also known that bugs aren’t fixed fast. Even some obvious ones – like a broken, blinking LFG tool – persisted one (or two ? I can’t remember now) weeks before it was fixed.
Resources are relocated on the epansion works, but I bet they will fix it until the end of march. Maybe sooner, game is being patched almost every day, so bug zapping is in progress.

Invisible bug is still there. It usually triggers when character dies and respaws from checkpoint (start of the map). Engineer’s bags (FT, grenade) remains visible, but asura model isn’t drawn.
Chance is roughly 40 %. At least in my case.

Considering PvE, the dungeon runners are the worst. But it isn’t tragic, perhaps one group out of 20 is truly toxic (sometimes it’s enough, though, as negative experience is remembered for pretty long time).
Personally I would preffer to rework dungeon rules a bit, current setup is kinda troll-friendly.

Otherwise it looks like GW2 does have very nice community. I seen many helpful players in many open world maps. Just …that…dungeons are sometimes on par with WoW community style.

I have experienced such behavior quite frequently in WoW in last several years. Pressure was usually higher prior expansion as people were bored of the old content so they just waited for opportunity to pick somebody for “little torture”. Group of four guildies had basically full controll over party kicks. Group of twelve guildies had power to mess with whole raid in LFR.

Every such tool has two edges and can be misused – Blizzard themselves had to apply extra rules to prevent kicks in the middle of the fight and during distribution of the loot, for example. More rules didn’t solve much, because it was misused from the other side. AFKer, for example, who was literary unkickable during whole run. That was other extreme.

So the general rule was to have hard shell, ignore trolls and bullies, don’t feed them and hope to never meet them again in the next run.

I am expecting the same from the GW2 PUG community in general. But to be fair I am still very positively surprised : previous 15 fractal runs I have run so far people were usually polite. Even on my very first run when I was total noobie. So meeting the rude ones was just a matter of time.

I must agree, my fractal “counter” is still short, but basically most groups I have encountered were helpful and friendly. And fractals (1-9) are pretty forgiving, and if you have doubts about certain boss mechanics, you can always check the GW2 wiki as well.

I have met one exception today, I have stumbled upon some online friends/guildies which were pretty toxic. They were hasty and they run most of the fractals pretty much different ways I have seen so far. Well they “awarded” me by kick on the last boss in the middle of the encounter. Just for fun.

Hello, I would like to get some advice, I am not sure how to clasify toxic behavior in the dungeon. I just experienced very poor behavior german group which appearantly had fun from slowing down the run at the last fractal and then they kicked me from group just before last boss died.

this is what the most vocal one (when he was rarely writting in english) wrote:
“U R the worst engineer
I ever seen
Wanna get kicked ?
In last fractal ?”

Gotta say I am not specialist to my class and they run most encounters different ways than I have seen at any PUG so far, but I don’t think I have slowed them down to the grade they had to remove me from the group.

I have seen many times such behavior at World of Warcraft players where it was punishable as it was classified as griefing, but I am not sure about GW2.

I can understand those are just “keyboard heroes” which wants to make fun from the others, but in my opinion it is damaging good name of the GW2 community as a whole.

I am game developper myself and supporter of the mmo games and community behavior was always sensitive issue.

I do agree. I have spotted several threads where people describing similar issues, usually DC 1-2 minutes after porting. In my case it was issue with inventory as well, all the items that I have purchased after teleport disappeared, the same with loot from loot boxes. When I relogged I have appeared in previous map.

It will be harder to track the issue as it looks like it’s randomly affecting characters. When I did the same with alt, there was not any problem with traveling/inventory/DC.

I had the same issue when porting from Blazeridge Steppes to LA. Roughly 2 minutes then DC. Funny thing is it also negates all the changes in the inventory, like purchased items or opened loot bags (right now I am not sure if opened bags re-appeared in the inventory or not).

When you click to join a party in the same moment like someone else, but microseconds later (depends on response time of the server. Treaceroute) , system counts it as succesfull attempt and raise counter +1.

When you reach +2. You will have to wait few seconds before next attempt

+3 will “awards you” with few minutes waiting time

+4 means you can forget about current activity and do something else, waiting time is around 15 minutes.

It’s extremely annoying limit, for example if you are joining map for Tequatl event and destination map is full, it will work the same. You have toughly 3 attempts, if you happen to join party on full server you will remain on your original place and system will block you for excessive usage of LFG tool.

While I can understand there might be people abusing game mechanics, in my opinion system shall not affect normal behavior. It can be achieved by additional mechanics, like warning about destination map, in case it’s full or solving the issue you have described (it is bug, nothing else).

Hello , I have experienced strange bug. After completting mining and vista dailies in Blazeridge Steppes I have used asura gate back to Lion’s Arch. Transfer was succesfull I have purchased Salvage Kits (it appeared in the inventory) and started opening old Dragon Chests.
It was full of classic loot including one minor exotic equipment item Berserker’s Scallywag Legs of the Dolyak, [&AgFBBwAA]. When I started sorting my inventory (there was response, so I am sure I wasn’t lagging) game suddenly disconnected.

When I have logged back I was surprised I was translocated back to Blazeridge Steppes, all recent purchases were gone missing including Dragon Chest’s loot.

Can you please interrogate your asura portal technicians ? It seems one of them gone crazy and started manipulating with space-time matter in attempt to change the history (or maybe suffering kleptomania).

I think binding double click shall not be a problem. For example tablet pen from Wacom Intuos 3 uses double click macro as a default setting and that’s pretty much standard hardware. Okay, it isn’t designed for games, but digital painting, but it’s still standard function.

And I do agree with post above me, right-click menu “Open all” would be more than enough.

Game started to have problems with lag again. It’s rather a minor type, it’s still possible to log in and spikes aren’t frequent nor longer than 5 seconds. Oh …

… wait a sec…….o…………………..n……………………………………….d…

… ok nevermind, game just kicked me out and I am stuck on loading screen / login screen. I think good ol’ lag is back again.

After very bad Sunday (game was unavailable 16:46 – 22:49) the following week days were mostly lag free, deffinitely best week I have experienced in GW2 in last few months. It’s shame problems had returned.

Hello there, game is inaccessible already and yet it isn’t prime time when “it suppose to lag” (for some strange reason I have succesfully defeated Tequatl yesterday at 19:00 GMT, for the first time this year game didn’t collapse).

With this kind of progression we will soon have to make new forum thread where people will report when game actually works. Because it’s rare.

Game was playable around 18:30-21:30 GMT today, but lag is back again. Game still didn’t kick me back to lobby, but some lag spikes are around 5-10 seconds long.

I am having connection problems on daily basis, usually inbetween 17-22GMT almost every single day, with few small exceptions, but not today, game just kicked me out.

Especially in 2015 it’s almost 90% cases I can’t use the game in peak hours.

oh hello again. This time lag slapped me at 20:08. So it’s ..hmm… 14th disconnection during Tequatl encounter in last three months and as a bonus I can’t log in back to game. Good ol’ lag issue they still didn’t solve I suppose.

I think this will once serve as a bad example to other development companies. 3 months and counting.

New patch old bugs. Just 24 hours later, 20:08…..and it’s like someone swap the switch – I was in the middle of Tequatl ecounter, again, everything went fine , no lags until….. 7:11:3:119:101. Ok, this is my 15 th Tequatl disconnection in the middle of the fight. And game is inaccesible as usual / unable to log in.

Is there any progression towards fix ?

I am no network specialist, but if ping to the certain server I am logged in shows 0% packet loss through 10 minutes, yet game losts connection 2-3 times during such period. And pathping looks the same whether game lags or not …..what does it mean ? Is there bug in the code instead on the servers ?

EDIT: nevermind, I have overlooked whole page of this thread. I don’t think I am going to step into stuff like WTFast, CyberGhost VPN or Hotspot Shield. Game needs to run properly without it, if not, it’s game over.

I don’t think they will refund your gems, but maybe they will allow you to pick different product from the gemstore for equal price. Maybe. I wish best of luck on that.

If everything else fails, you can always create an alt which can equip LIGHT armor skin and enjoy the game from different point of view. Perhaps with absolutely identical race/face/hairstyle. As mesmer, for example, you can recuperate it’s cost in time. If you park your alt at the chest in a difficult JP and provide portals to the people. Some people will send you mail with cash in a return for the favor even if you provide it for free.

Personally I would appreciate some grace period for purchases in GW2. Something like in WoW – 2 hours long timed gate you can refund the goods.

Similar to everyone’s else who provided Tracert in this forum. My “top score” is 100% packet loss on ncsoft-ic-306349-ffm-b11.c.telia.net [62.115.43.74] at 14-th december 2014 , that’s exactly 3 weeks akitten, that was bad joke from me, sorry for that.

Sending Tracert every day in the moment connection starts to hickup to the Support@GuildWars2.com with the subject line “EU Latency Issue”, according to the instruction from Gaile Gray posted 11 days ago in this forum.

Since it’s frequent issue from pre-Christmas and post-New Year’s Eve, it’s a long list and I have packed last 20 records into archive in the attachment of this message.

Well and if I sound annoyed ? Well , my apologies, I can pardon a lot, but sitting here for few months and waiting for connection without saying a word would make me feel like a sheep.

If the product is broken and problem isn’t on my side and the issue is affecting entire Europe (but behaves somewhat random), it’s fair from me, as an custommer, to report about problem and discuss my thoughts. Unfortunately after 10th-15th message, it’s hard to keep the calm tone.

Abomally.2694, they are connected to internet through providers, despite fact problem isn’t in their servers, problem is still on their side that needs to be fixed, not ours. If they refuse to fix it, it would be fine if they release official text explaining the game is and will be inaccessible for 1/4 of the day and after that …..well they can either wear clown’s cap as well. With same effect.

When I was playing World of Warcraft and there was latency issue which wasn’t caused by Blizzard’s servers, they still had power to forc…..erm …. find the source of the issue and fixed it ….or let it be fixed. Longest issue with latency in WoW history had 9 days duration I think. In case of GW2 we’re close to 100 days, do you see the difference ?

Fourth day of the new year and lag is back again. So far 100% success. Congratulations. This time one hour sooner than normal. That’s not an improvement.

Four hours later and it’s still the same. BLAH inaccesible, skills just blinking and voila …. gray screen with omnipresent “7:11:3:191:101” (or any other random error code). And , ahh yes, auto logout from forum.

I think this thread is 3 months old. I am playing this game for 4 months and suffering lag problems since 25.10.2014, that’s more than half of my playtime here.

What really surprises me , game runs smooth without problem around 18 hours day. From 23:00 – 17:00 CET plus minus. Sure, some lag spikes happens here and there, but it’s nothing serious, then lag curtain drops down and for this year it hits with100% accurancy.

I don’t belive they don’t care, I think they simply doesn’t have enough people to fix the problem. Time to poke your bosses, that’s what they are paid for!

What I dislike especially about events in the starter zone is I have to make a choice whether to about help others find events.

People are asking in map chat “where are events?”
1) An event pops up near me. I ping the waypoint and give fast directions. By the time I get there, the event is almost over and by the time the people that listened to me get there, it’s done. They wasted silver and time listening to me and got nothing.
2) One pops near me but I say nothing. It still makes me feel bad because I’m not helping others who are repeatedly asking about events.

Either way I feel like I’m get in a lose/lose situation with these events. I want to be social and help others but I’m getting into situations where either I almost trolling people or I’m keeping events to myself.

it’s only a matter of time when people starts trolling and making fun from confusing people, calling for nonexistent events. Displaying events on the map with some simple small icon and brief mouseover informations would prevent the drama.

Back on topic, I am glad dailies are simplified and can be done faster. On the other hand, it’s extremely repetitive and it isn’t fun. And eventually it will get annoying in the future. Sure, it’s only AP hoarding, but it can still be fun if you add more options.

Bought wrong item

Was short before doing that also yesterday when my thieve finally got 80 because
a while ago a bought 5-6 backpieces at a temple after i saw that they are only
accountbound .. and i wondered if everything there is now accountbound.
However i first inspected them and saw that they are still character bound.

I am sure “soulbound items” are remnants from the elder times of GW2. Now that game opperates with account bound currency, soulbinding items by simple purchase is unnecessary trap, nothing else. Especially if there’s no else gating than relogging to the correct character.

Back on topic, I think 120 minutes grace period would reduce 99% of the soubound issues and GM tickets related to it. It’s enough time to realise you can’t wear the items and autocorrect your mistake. Everyone runs on autopilot sometimes, we’re only humans after all and we make mistakes. Nobody is perfect.
