This is completely untrue.

In addition to what you said, the buffs made to the Elementalist directly were:
-The removal of the ICD on Cleansing Water in sPvP
-The un-nerfing of Signet of Restoration in sPvP

In the game as a whole, the following changes were made:
-Strength Rune was buffed
-Sigils could now dual-proc (two swap sigils, such as Doom and Battle)
-Celestial Amulet was buffed

To be quite honest, the most direct buff to the Elementalist, in all likelihood, was the change of Signet of Restoration, which had a base 168 + Healing Power*0.08 heal per spell cast in PvP (as opposed to the current, un-nerfed 202 + Healing Power*0.1 per spell cast in all formats now). Once the signet heal became good again, the Ele became much better. In fact, when Signet of Restoration was stronger (double proccing from Evasive Arcana), the Elementalist was crazy strong.

Often times, a class’ strength in PvP is tied to its sustain and its healing. It’s no wonder then that the Warrior became stronger when Healing Signet and Cleansing Ire were buffed.

The main thing pushing guards out a bit is celementalists, though lots of Eu team run guard. Nothing can bunker/support like a guard.

Agreed. But the problem is that if you have a dedicated bunker, you’re losing out on firepower in teamfights

  1. - The Sword – For me sword is life. Good AA and the #2 skill is awesome with the teleport and the blind…. so what exactly happened to the #3???? It,s the “Burst skill” on the sword but unless they stand still in front of your nose… well good luck getting it to hit.. also it ROOTS you.. which if your running a medi build is not something you want…EVER I mean maybe if you had to stand still to land a huge burst but Sword 3 is unreliable at best. So like.. Pls change it Anet? I know that wont happen dont crush my dreams I’m an optimist
  1. - The Scepter – Personally I like the Weapon it has good dmg, Smite is on a Short CD and yeah its a small AoE but you have the nice immob to go with it. Only thing holding it back is the AA. I mean why Advertise as 1200 when your enemy can have a seizure at that range and not be hit at all??? Only range weapons for us guys…SO happy we have that..

Was able to replicate this bug by switching weapons (sword to staff, then back to sword) during the start of a match in spvp. (I needed to switch to staff to cast swiftness but apparently it causes the sigils to be deactivated)

On the contrary I played a guardian to 80 and then I leveled a ranger.

Ranger pets are pretty clunky to use. Other than that it’s a decent class, and with the LB changes I get twice the number of kills on WvW.

But it’s just not as fun in PvP. I don’t need to time dodges preemptively because I can see the attacks coming from 1200 range. Melee is just more rewarding to play because it’s reactive. And I like seeing all the explosions up close.

WvW ranger > guardian in terms of fun and utility. Ranged dps > melee in zerg v zerg, and guardian’s ranged attacks are sorely lacking.
PvE guardian > ranger in terms of utility. Both are equally fun. Because PvE is boring.
PvP my personal preference is guardian, but I don’t play my ranger enough to give you a good answer. After i get enough Tomes of Knowledge I’ll go use my ranger toon again.

How about skyhammer has some water below, and a teleporter up to the map?

This way you don’t get to kill anyone, but you delay them for a fair amount of time.

Same effect but you don’t get the satisfaction of the kill.

I think most people here are just annoyed that they got ‘killed’ by a lesser player. If you overlook that fact and play to win the match I think you’ll agree that the lesser player outplayed you on this map.

I would think that’s a good point to make if downed states weren’t so horribly unbalanced…

By the way complete stuns are a horrible game mechanic in any style of game. GW2 is the worst of all MMO’s I’ve ever played in this sense. Stop freezing my freakin screen Anet. Please. When I spend 30% of my play time with my character immobilized there is a very big issue with your game.

There are one or two stun break abilities available but considering one in 5 abilities is somewhat stun related this game is a disastrous freezefest.

Another reason why downed needs to go: it’s far more beneficial to revive a downed teammate than to try to kill whoever killed him because reviving is stupidly fast.

Q: What is the point of downed mode?

I don’t understand why you don’t understand the point of downed. Downed is actually a huge penalty for your team. There are times where i just don’t stomp someone because it’ll delay his respawn and baits his teammates. The respawn delay can mean a decap on far node.

A: The point of downed mode is to promote team play.

Remove Skyhammer from rated arena

Just tossing the topic in advance cause if you don’t remove it from the rated arena queue (post 2 dec), this patch will not be an improvement to spvp but it will totally ruin it. Cause all you need to ruin the experience of many players is 1 premade group of trolls that pick skyhammer as favorite map. They’d force a 50% chance for skyhammer to spawn by themselves. And players who now use tpvp to avoid skyhammer won’t be able to avoid that map anymore.

And don’t underestimate the number of players belong to that field.

So you’re saying that we shouldn’t let the majority be affected by the decisions of players who may also be.. the majority?

If you want to be useful you should still just use scepter/focus but oh well.

Knight Amulet gives amazing sustain, which is what guardians are good at. This build looks fine, except for Glacial Heart. Should probably swap that for Focused Mind since Glacial Heart is pretty lousy even with the buff.

Turret Engineers in pvp

How do you deal with them as a guardian?

We lack condition pressure, so we can’t really stack conditions on the engineer and then run away to safety like a necro.

Good placement of turrets also means sometimes they’re on ledges that take 10-20 seconds to get to, since we are kinda lacking in ranged options.

Is there any strategy to taking down points that are bunkered down with turrets? Like going after the rocket turret first (high dmg + cooldown). Any tips?

I run Hammer/GS almost exclusively on my guardian (Persyx) and it’s pretty good, and really fun

The only class I really have problems with in conquest is turret engineer, due to the lack of stab and no range.

Good players seldom fall for focus5, it just takes 3 hits to remove the shield. I usually just auto attack into the shield or gs2 if i’m out of time. The main reason why guardian should use a focus is so that they can use mace. The mace autoattack gives amazing sustain and is just a great weapon overall.

Hammer4 with JI is quite fun to use too. Just make sure to hide behind a pillar when you start casting so they can’t see your tell.

Engineers Are Not OP

This post makes no sense, because no one one is saying that Engineers are OP at the game.

We are just saying that Engineers are too good at bunkering a point at Conquest (currently).

You suggest introducing new game modes. That is much much less likely than a nerf to turrets.

That is why people are asking for a nerf to turrets:
So that we can play more balanced Conquest games.

In PvP never use 2 Two-handed weapons in the same build as a guardian. One set should always have Focus off-hand.

Currently, you have the trait point distribution of a bunker guard, with the weapons of a DPS and the wrong amulet.

Resolute Healer is actively used by bunker guardians, but not DPS ones.

Is this build good for sPvP? I seem to deal enough damage but not enough to take down pure bunkers, and I can stall 2-3 people for pretty long. Disengaging is also not a problem with gs3 + hammer5, dual energy sigils and traveler’s runes.

I’m considering doing 0/6/6/4 and take out two handed mastery for the additional might duration and condition cleanse from absolute resolution. Knight amulet also seems to give me much better sustain which helps me kill people, albeit a bit slower. Should I change either of these?

Another question I wanna ask is: why people don’t run resolute healer? It’s really very useful for the knockback, I’ve denied many stomps from this trait. Am I missing something?

Strengths:
Good sustain and decent damage. Good for stalling on cap points (cannot really bunker. leave that to engins). Good for general pvp. Flexible gameplay.

Weaknesses:
0 stability. Don’t even bother to stomp, you’ll be interrupted. Every. kittening. Time

Playstyle:
Traveler’s Runes are decent for stacking might, and makes up for guardian’s lack of mobility. I can usually disengage if I pop my cooldowns and keep swapping weapons to dodge roll. Even if you can’t disengage and survive you can lure them very far off point, which isn’t too bad either.

Why Litany of Wrath??
24s vs 30s means you can heal more often. I definitely get more healing done with Litany of Wrath, because I know I can spam it whenever it’s off cooldown. If someone interrupts your Shelter you’re probably a goner. You can stack might with sword3 or focus5 anyway. The added fury is a bonus.

And no one bothers to avoid you after you use Litany of Wrath, so that point is moot. It’s just not worth it to give up the battlefield for 6s. 6s is all I need to res someone.

If the ally requirement was dropped + it was a stun breaker, I can see it’s usage being neck and neck with JI (possibly beating it). Or everyone could just drop smite condition and then teleport around like a heavy armor thief.

If the ally requirement was dropped, I would take it over JI.

@Anet: Whatever you may think, guardians need a disengage.

Medi guard already counters warrior/thief if both are equally skilled. I honestly don’t know why they buffed them . Major problem is the insta cast medi skills that can only be random dodged :S

Also don’t forget that a block or a blind is 100000x better than having more HP . Let’s say I have 20k HP and a thief backstabs me for 10k, that leaves me only with 10k HP. Now let’s say I have 15k and I use a block or blind to prevent the back stab, that leaves me with the full 15k HP. Simple maths.

medi guard should be good at melee. After all they have nearly no ranged dps, and have no good way to disengage.

and as for backstab, wait for the guard to pop their cooldowns before you use it. Yes, you need to actually time your attacks instead of spamming once it’s off cooldown

I’ve used this in tourney’s with some pretty good success, I get some nice might stacks.

Of course you can switch the Force of Will for 20% CD on 2 handed weapons which isn’t bad. Sometimes I play GS/Hammer instead. Or you could take the 1 extra point in honor and put it in virtues for more might stacking, or put it into radiance for the blind on virtue of justice. There are a lot of ways you can play around with the build. But the constant is pretty much at least 2/x/6/5/x for me and the use of GS and having some really good might stacking capability. Sometimes I will switch the sigil of energy on one of my weapons for doom.

Or for some non-might stacking variants you could go Pack Runes. Since this pretty much gives you 6% more crit chance and 50% uptime on fury, I will switch out the fury on meditation for Strength in Numbers for more toughness to me and my team. And probably switch out the battle sigils for something like air/fire on a GS.

Is there any reason why you use litany of wrath over shelter?

I’ve been using litany of wrath quite a bit and I find that it gives me slightly better sustain. I’m currently using GS/Hammer, so shelter seems to be the only way to get off blocks to might stack.

I’ve been considering switching to Hammer/SwFc with litany of wrath because Sword3 and Focus5 give blocks, but then without WW from GS, litany of wrath heals for so much less…

Is litany of wrath worth using over shelther, with GS/Hammer??
