Nope that actually happened prior to the normal time server status is changed. Same thing happened to TC when FUG moved there. They can lock servers manually, BG has pretty clearly been locked manually today to stop any more bandwagoning, although at this point its just like shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.
So you saying they manually lock but the unlocks life automatically? Doesn’t make sense to me. If it unlock after a certain population threshold, a server cannot be locked below that threshold or it would unlock right after. Either the entire system is automated or not.
As bad as it sounds I really hope opening these servers is driven by generating revenue and not by stupidity.
Them opening was clearly automated using the population calculation system they have. It happens weekly Mon/Tues. Its a reflection of the continuing decline in the population of the mode.

JQ isn’t facing Fort Aspenwood and Maguuma which are both essentially T2 servers at this point.
No, it’s facing a T3 server (SBI) and the less populated of the T1 servers (TC) and still not winning by a landslide as it should since “it’s more populated than BG”.
Funny now, when BG open all of you start rage mode and crying. now BG is close but JQ still open so lets see what happends in the few days.
JQ is’t the server that is winning T1 without placing 3rd in any skirmish.
JQ isn’t the server that never dropped out of T1 since 2013.
JQ didn’t received several guilds on the first night it was open.
Few fights, most people just run to the nearest siege weapon/tower/keep instead of fighting even outnumbering us lol.

Well, not everyone transfered off a dying server. People transfer to follow guilds or to look for a different enviroment or event to be reunited with people they know.
Out of all my transfers only my last one out of Eredon Terrace and the last one out of Darkhaven were because the server died.
There is no real balance while there are Transfers.

Stop blaming Players for creating Population In-Balances.
Why? It wasn’t the players who decided to bandwagon? It was Arena Net that transfered these players to the winning servers? Let’s face reality, people don’t want a balanced fight, people want a easy win, that’s why they bandwagon.

Yes, Babs, but it’s important to recognise that Anet has the power to do something about it. Whether what they do is the right thing is another discussion.
The only way for them to stop population imbalance would be if they ended the transfers. And we all know this ain’t happening… However, we can see the majority of the players aren’t interested in balance, since they always decide to stack in a single server to “win”. Then why would them do that?

2nd and 3rd should give the same ammoutn of points so one server don’t run away with victory that easy… Yes, it will create the 2v1 feeling, but that’s how it works in a 1v1v1 enviroment.
Thank you for pointing this out. I’ve said elsewhere that increasing PPK will in fact decrease fights, not increase them. Yet, I received moans, groans, and back talk for pointing out such obvious behavior. If you folks want unlimited fights, decreasing the penalty for death accomplishes this. Players will then YOLO carefree all day long. As long as death counts more heavily toward the score outcome, players will play intelligently and avoid fights.
People already avoided fights long before PPK was introduced. These people now just use PPK as an excuse for their innability in fighting and refuse to improve.
IMO you should only be able to transfer once every 3 months, and reset your entire WvW guildhall stuff everytime you do. Transferring should be a serious decision that isn’t easy to back out of, instead of a “Oh I transferred for a week and don’t like this place, so let me transfer again.”
Then you would have players quitting the game instead of just transfering to try find fun elsewhere. Which is far worse than having people transfering.
Stop mashing it like a maniac and it never miss… I didn’t tried holding it, I know it works for catas/trebs at full power tho.
If they are running away from every fight, they aren’t defending their ppt.
If they are sitting inside a objective for 2hrs they are losing objectives elsewhere… Divide and conquer. Force them to divide. Unless your group isn’t competent enough to fight without being 50 people holding hands too.

In pvp you would be even more useless since you need to be visible to contest a point. And anyone with decent condi clear can walk away from ghost thief.
Have fun killing idiots tho. I know there are plenty out there.
The ideal would be give the same points to 2nd and 3rd, so both are “forced” to fight the dominant server instead of ganging on 3rd (like it used to be) or on 2nd (like it is now). Playing matches where servers start playing for second right at start isn’t fun.
At least with the old system you fought until Thursday, and it allowed comebacks on Friday in more neck to neck matches by heavy pushes.
Now we have to enjoy mathematical winners in Monday/Tuesday.
People already stopped playing by monday in the old system anyway when they saw their server was 50k behind…. A good thing about the new system is that people don’t know how to do math and can’t be sure when they no longer can win.
What server is that where players survive for 10min ?

the only thing the sPvP team has control over is which sigils/runes/amulets are available.
I doubt very much that the WvW team has control over builds in the manner the sPvP team has.
They probably dont but the PvP dev basically wrote a thread on the PvP forum saying they have no control over balance.
Right. In that thread the dev explained they only have control over what runes/sigils/amulets are available. I don’t believe the WvW devs would even have that level of control. PvE and WvW builds are only separated by the trait screen.
Celestial amulet and runes of durability were outright removed from PvP. Sigil of energy was basically nerfed completely in PvP.
Whether those items and other such items deserve the same treatment in WvW is debatable, but you need to consider that.
Because the PvP team can control what you equip in PvP… How would WvW do that if it’s directly tied to the PvE gear? Did you even read the rest of the posts on this thread?

Winning a skirmish will award you Victory Points, which are the actual matchup score. The Warscore (PPT + PPK) are how you win the skirmish. Think as 84 2hr matchups where the server that win most of them is the winner of the week.

Wouldn’t it be harder for an off hour coverage server to win a kdr match if the small handful of people on the other servers kill a few stragglers and don’t die?
Sure, but PPT still dominate the major portion of the score. If the largest force holds the majority of the map, killing their players won’t really help unless you are farming them big time.

Precisely that. Very much like the one I tested save I took torment over perplexity. The Asura trait also does not reveal when used.
I took perplexity more for the confusion duration than for the procs itself… The only way to apply torment will be through the 30s CD heal, so I feel the torment duration is somewhat wasted. Perplexity benefit Pain Inverter, Bewildering Ambush and also the proc from the heal aswell the proc of when you get hit.
I also thought about Krait runes, as you can apply Basilisk Venom near your target to proc the (6), and their cooldowns are pretty close (Basi 40, Rune is 45) but Perplexity add the extra flavor of Cheddar.
Tormenting runes would be better on an actual P/D condi thief imo (not ghost).

Huh, they sum to the warscore of the skirmish I belive… The point gain still the same, except that the warscore now reset every 2hrs and the realm is awarded with the Victory Points accordingly with the skirmish result (based on the warscore at the end of the skirmish).
Think as the week is broke down in 84 mini matches of 2hrs each. And the server that get most victory points by winning them is the victor of the matchup.
Pretty sure any WvW guild do say which server they are on when they are recruiting. If you joined a guild that is from another server it’s entirely your fault or the guild that you joined is dumb for not saying which server they belonged to.
Now if your guild transfered off your server, well, they paid to move, so you either pay too or find another.

SOS should go in t4,this server just feeding points at T3 ,can not compete people are leaving this server cause it is a weak server ,lazy people stacking on this server doin nothing.
SoS beat SBI to 2nd this week… And I heard they received plenty of transfer from the dying Dragonwagon.
They already needlessly nerfed the runes once without fixing the problem. What they need to do is add direct damage to needle trap and possibly to trip wire so that the thief is revealed when using them.
No, they simply need to remove the rune as there’s no reason to destroy thief because of a stupid rune.
Tell me how adding direct damage to a trap will “destroy” thief.
Honestly, I don’t see as many ghost thief as people complain here…
We should be happy about this, pot stirring on anets part. It may result in the exact same thing, that they can put minor changes into make drastic impacts (scarily both good and bad) but I’ll remain optimistic because they are ‘thinking’ about how to do things. And that’s the start people have wanted for many years.
Especially considering we can vote out things that don’t work.

Foods and runes with boons duration already existed before HoT. I can run 45% (or 50% if I use water runes) boon duration +3% per boon on me as base mesmer.

I feel skirmishes favor Divide-and-Conquer over Karma-Train-Omniblob. Wish was what WvW should have been about in the first place…

The new system favor forces spread over all timezones. Servers that relly purely on a single timezone are likely to lose matches because they won’t be able to compete in the majority of the skirmishes along the day. However, just having a “decent” all-round coverage won’t guarantee you will win because you need a superior force during prime time to counter oposing servers primetime force.
If I remember right, they also said there would be some kind of “last stand event” on fridays so the servers behind would have one last chance to win the match. It’s not listed on what they are adding now, so they either gave up on that idea or it will be implemented on the future.

The artificial balancing is finally here, anet will now successful get people to shut up about night capping and get people to forget about population balancing. However, people will now complain purely on coverage war and thus population balancing reborn again.
Seriously, I hope anet just focus on population balancing, is the root of all problems.
The population balance is purely on the players. Players don’t want balanced matches, they want easy wins. That’s why they stack in the same server instead of spreading to have balanced matches.
The only way Arena Net could balance things were if they close servers transfer, but that’s part of their income (gem sales) and I don’t think they will ever do that.
Or maybe a hard rating reset now that a new scoring system will take place? A red post said that you had the intention of pooling this at some point. I guess now would be a good time.

I do enjoy T3 more on my SBI account, but YB belongs in T2 and FA needs to drop. As long as YB keeps blowing out T3, it’ll most likely happen.
We have the dying dragon in the midst of all that… If DB drops to T2, FA will likely leech their glicko and remain in there. Unless DB in it’s current dying state is stronger than FA.
