All i keep hearing you say Casear is that you want to be able to sell things to vendors for a higher price.
This makes no sense, because everyone would be getting these benefits and while you would technically have a higher number of gold, relative to everyone else you would still be just as poor.
When you increase the amount of gold players get, you inflate the marker, and all the prices will rise to compensate.
What seems to be the problem here is that you either don’t know how to make money, or don’t play enough to make money.
In one of your first posts, you said you dont want to spend 5hours to make a 5% profit. This shows an inherent lack of understanding or lack of trying. I rarely play the market as i have been busy IRL and just last night i logged in, noticed a decent price difference between buy/sell rates on a popular item, and made about 22s profit for each one ( the cost for this investment was about 1g 50s, which you have)
Running paths 1 and 2 of CoF for example will net you 2-3g within about 25min depending on drops and how fast your group is.
You being poor when plenty of other people are not shows that it is an issue with you and not with the game. And while im at it, the fact that you are poor IRL has nothing to do with the game. If you were rich IRL (assuming no gem>gold) but poor ingame you would still want to change things so they benefit you, thats human nature.
Finally, i am not saying nothing is wrong with the market, things like precursors and t6 mats being heavily controlled are an issue, but stating that the entire economy is bad because YOU cant make enough money to be happy is silly
I get it whenever i run fractals. I will always blackscreen and have to do a hard reboot at least once in a fractal, and after it happens once, it normally happens again and again a short time after getting back in the game.
No thanks. cosmetic > vertical
There is no need to be a kitten Anet are working on a lot of things and being rude to them won’t make them want to help you.
Im also having a blackscreen issue. Ive had it for several months, and it mostly occurs in fractals. Both my screens go black, and i am forced to do a hard restart of my computer.
For example yesterday i played for about 9 hours straight (ive just had surgery and cant do much else right now). I was doing dungeons and events all day, then i entered a fractal and within 10min i got a blackscreen.
This morning i got up turned my comp on and entered a fractal and blackscreened within 20seconds.
I have tried, disconnecting my 2nd monitor, checking my anti aliasing settings, updating all drivers, playing on lowest settings, and almost every other little thing in all the threads ive read about it. It seems to be getting worse, and i can find no decernable pattern (like time played before dc, etc)
Its not an overheating issue, its not a card issue because this happens in no other game but guild wars.
I basically cannot run fractals at all because i am garrenteed to dc at some point, and i fear that all this hard restarting will damage my computer. It does happen occasionally in dungeons but nowhere near as much.

Nicolle – Could we please get some dev info about why gold is not showing up in the pickup tab for items that have sold? A lot of people seem to be not receiving their gold
Hmm sounds like its possibly an issue on your end unfortunately, the websites work fine here
Interesting, i also use the latest version of Firefox. which is 17.0.1 i believe.
Are you sure you don’t have any script-blocking addons like Noscript or anything else that would possibly prevent this?
Depending on which email your using (like hotmail inbox or gmail etc) they may have options enabled to stop links working to unknown senders etc.
I can’t see any reason why yours wouldn’t work while mine is on the same browser other then those reasons.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Account-Restorations-Update/first#post973940
They have just launched a recovery system for hacked accounts, with this system i think its highly likely they will now be able to track and restore small losses like this one in the near future.
Tech support are not supposed to tell you they can do something until its ready to be able to be done, or they can get in trouble.
For you to say they don’t care about players or there losses just shows a blatant ignorance. Ive lost gold to the trading post, not getting it when my items were sold. Fine, i’ll get it soon, id rather them help those people who have had hacked accounts and lost everything first, which will take a bit of time.
All mine work perfectly. Considering it is just an email i fail to see how they can work for one person and fail for another. What browser do you use?
When I buy gems (and I’ve only done it once or twice, for character slots), I am not buying a good or a service; I am converting a currency.
Wrong. You are buying a service – tokens for virtual items to enhance your game experience. If gems were a currency… and could be exchanged for gold… and gold is earned from random drops in the game world… then the logical legal conclusion would be that ArenaNet are running a casino, which opens up a whole world of pain from lawyers and tax accountants. Nobody is going to want to go there.
This. You are buying tokens to get items, just like if you are at a game arcade and you put RL money in and gets tickets out which you can exchange for items at the shop. No way in hell they would trade you those tickets back for real money.
Why click the sell button when you have no gems to sell? doesnt make sense.
Because only fools invest into markets they haven’t verified.
The rates need to be different.
You’ve learned an important lesson today; always know what you’re investing in and the conditions of your expected returns.
This. Lol
Don’t complain because you didn’t check your investment before making it.
Ive recently had an item sell and not give me the money. Im pretty annoyed Anet supposedly does not have logs for this stuff..
Away – due to being Australian >_>
I havn’t – what about those people who have already been hacked and lost 100’s of hours worth of stuff? The game should have launched with at least enough logged into to return items to stolen accounts.
I would like to know if my friend is going to get his stuff back, or if hes going to quit
This just happened to my friend last night, hes been working really hard for a very expensive exotic bow and now all his progress is gone, i honestly worry about him wanting to continue playing after this
When this feature is released, will there be any way to compensate these people for what they’ve lost? Surely you can track the items leaving 1 character and being sent to another in mass.
I hope they change this, its very annoying to see only ‘when i posted’ something.
Wait for them to fix there issues first. They are obviously having problems distributing them, and im guessing it will take 1-2 days for all chests to be distributed properly
Ive had an issue with my gold not appearing for items ive sold. I put 2 items up before bed last night, 1 exotic sword for 1g 24s and some copper, and a exotic staff for 1g 90s and some copper. Both are now gone from my ‘selling’ list because they’ve been sold, but i only have 1g 71s for pickup, it looks like my sword’s money never came through. I can post screenshots if you need, and ive sent in a bug report.
Im fairly sure this has happened to me a couple times before but id never payed 100% attention to it because i wasn’t 100% sure this was actually happening. Now i am, and im upset about loosing gold
Take my advice – wait. Farm and play normally, and save everything (Including money) until they stabilize drop rates etc. Anet will fix it, but it will take some time. They are still learning how the economy changes with introductions of things.
It cost so much more to make a legendary because Anet designed them to be amazing cosmetic rewards which required a long sustained effort to achieve. Most of the other stuff in the game can be gotten pretty quickly, so they wanted to design something amazing for those with a long term goal.
I cant answer the second part sorry
Oh i didn’t realize it is based off of tier. Id rather not switch off my server, i quite like it here
So for the last 4 weeks TC has been on the same island in WvW, making it impossible to get the POI’s vista’s etc on the other 3. I thought that it was supposed to swap islands every so often.
This is making it a little annoying for people trying to get Legendaries/world completion etc.
If you grinded 120-150g in a week how on earth are you not close to a legendary?
Anet wanted a legendary to take on the order of months, not weeks, its a long term goal, and if you focus on burning yourself out trying to get it then yeah, your gonna be disappointed.
They do not want gold to be meaningless like in WoW, they don’t want every cool item to be 1000 gold.
If you get all the items in a month, then what do you have to play for and work towards. The game certainly isn’t rewarding to play when you have all the items you want instantly
As unhappy about the situation as a i have been as a fellow oceanic player, they have at least sent out an email with a survey about the event where you can voice your concerns.
It is much more reliable for them to do a survey then to just read the forums, as the forums are only a small subset of the total community.
Many of my American friends have not yet received the email, so if you have not, please go here http://newsletters.ncsoft.com/emp/gw2/announcement/2012-11-21/na.html
It took them some time to implement this reward but it was always intended from launch to be what you got at endgame
From the last page https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/lostshores/Do-the-right-thing-and-ban-people-who-exploit/page/3#post813875
Hi all.
Due to the amount of time the event took to run on a character, swapping to another character to run the instance again on a different overflow server is not considered an exploit by the development team. While there was an extremely small chance for individuals to jump to an overflow that required little effort to complete, the majority of players participating in the final event put in a lot of time and work so as such, they were entitled to receive the same reward for completing the event again. This was designed as such to allow those players who couldn’t hop on exactly at 12 noon PST an opportunity to participate in Sunday’s event.
Thanks for your feedback, which we’ll be sure to consider for future events, but for this event, this thread and topic are closed.
Sorry but i find this a terrible blanket excuse for whats happened.
First let me state that i do not care about people running the event with multiple characters. I am concerned with the statement that says the overflow events were designed so people could run it if they missed the main event time.
If this was so, why did you patch when you did, stopping all in progress events instead of letting them finish. Some people were in the middle of killing the final boss. Others, like me had JUST gotten home from school and were excited that the events were still running.
I am finding it a common trend with Americans that they do not consider what is going on in any country but there own before they do something. For Australia you ran a one time event from 3am monday morning to about 5:30pm monday night, during an exam period, during peoples works hours, turning the event off JUST as everyone is getting home.
You did not give the oceanic community a chance to even participate. Then to turn around and pretend that you were giving people a chance to participate, when you stated that it was a one time event only, and many many people saw the time had passed, assumed they had missed it and not gotten on, completely missed out.
If this was intended to give people a chance..please answer the following questions
- Why did you not let people know there was an additional chance
- Why did you simply not let the rest of the events finish in overflows
- Are you going to continue to run events at such times that exclude to oceanic community
If nothing else, please answer the last question as it will probably determine if i want to continue playing or not.
One time events are fine if the event is over a weekend when everyone can participate, but holding it at a time thats terrible for a LOT of players (2-4am monday morning aussies etc) Is terrible.
No more one time events…ever
Its not an awesome epic thing if the entire oceanic community gets to miss out every single time because the event is always at 3am. That’s just alienating that community.
Make all events available for at LEAST 24hrs (on an american saturday, which ensures its on the weekend for the aussies to) And make it so the chest drop is account bound.
This should also help with the lag because not everyone will be trying to get on all at the same time.
Those people complaining that they did the event and couldn’t loot the chest, they have already said there working on compensating those people
The real people that should be upset are all the oceanic people that get to miss out on every one time event because it starts at 3am Monday mornings.
I’m fine with one-time events. In fact I’d like to see more of them. I know it sucks if you can’t make it, but that’s life… the real world works in the same way. They can’t please everyone, and they can’t run this stuff over and over. I’d sooner have these once-only events than not…
Just don’t include pre-cursors; it sucks for people who can’t make it, and it sucks for players who don’t get one after 4 hours, only to see them drop to players who joined your overflow on an alt to get one, or that guy who spent the whole fight dead because he sucks badly.
In a game where skill is being touted as a requirement (by the developers no less), RNG shouldn’t play a part in the reward scheme.
This shows a complete lack of understanding. Some timezones like the aussies have the onetime events starting at 2-4am there time on a MONDAY morning. Every single time.
This isnt a case of ‘oh i had to go to the mall and lost out’ its ’oh this event happens right before work/school.
If you want to make one time events then distribute it around time zones, this ones in US timezone, the next ones in AUS timezones…we’ll see how much you guys love one time events that drop exotics and procurers then.
1. Make them run for at LEAST 24hrs. I will not continue to play this game if every single one time event is at 3am, and gets patched out right before i get home from school.
2. Lock accounts from completing the event more then once.
Thats all you need to do to solver the kitten problem.
I have to say, im pretty upset and angry about this, and ive spent the last 2 months defending Anet from angry people.
Halloween event? Fine ok, i missed out on a cutscene that i can watch on youtube, thats fine i can deals with it.
This event? Ridiculous. Firstly you decide to run it at 3am on a MONDAY morning for all your Aussie players. FYI it is also exam month this month so its not like those in uni can just take a day off an exam.
Secondly, you make the event drop a garenteed 20slot bag, chance at exotics and even procurers! This is ridiculous. Loot drops this amazing and you shaft all the aussie players.
Lastly, you do ‘routine maintenance’ That just happens to remove the events (even people in progress at killing the final boss) At 5:30-6pm, right as everyone is coming home from work/school. At least we may have had a chance had you let the overflows finish there events, but no, apparently Aussies cant participate in these events unless they want to miss school/exams or work.
Had i been informed before i bought the game that i would miss out on every single one time event because i lived in Australia, i may have reconsidered. Hell the least you could have done was do the event twice, once for american timezones, then once when all the aussies got home. Or even made one server do it on an aussie timezone and let us do a temp transfer for it.
I am seriously reconsidering my love for this game.
First mistake – Taking time off work to play a video game
Second mistake – Thinking everything would work perfectly on the first day
The games 2 months old and Anet are still getting used to how to do events properly and compensate for massive amounts of people flocking to them. If you just expect everything to work perfectly your going to be disappointed.
If you think you can do it better, apply to work there.
If not, relax, its just a game, dont take time off work to play a game..thats just silly
Please keep in mind that a large majority of people unhappy with the patch are more likely to post here then those who dont mind/support it. Therefore all forum threads will be skewed in the direction of the people unhappy.
In response to the question, i am half and half on the idea, however i am willing to try it before making any judgements. Just like when i tried mushrooms after hating them for years and i suddenly liked them when cooked a certain way, i feel it is always worth trying before raging or refusing to experience something.
With that said, i don’t believe ascended gear will be a game changer and make gw2 like WoW. I would prefer that no ascended stats be used in WvW, but i doubt Anet will take the WoW approach and make each new level of gear make all others completely worthless. What i expect is that there will be many types of new gear that come out with equal stats to ascended, just infused with different things, and ascended gear is just the lore step to gaining the knowledge of infusion. Then all new sets will not be a gear-treadmill but equal to ascended with a different skin/different monster fighting specialty.
There are simply so many things Anet could be doing BESIDES a gear treadmill that i will not make assumptions yet, and neither should anyone else.
Edit: Its amusing everyone is saying that gw2 is BECOMING a gear treadmill because technically since you have blues, greens, yellows and oranges it always was to begin with lol
I doubt they would allow this for legendary weapons. It would be the same as letting us buy them for $25. completely takes away all the achievement from getting on and diminishes the effort people went through to get them
I do support the idea of selling SOMETHING for charity, maybe a clothing set or other weapons. Just not legendaries
This is a perfect example of why the design for GW2 economy is trash. The only reason the listing fees act that way is so that trading can be “realistic”, with realistic meaning akin to real-life markets, which themselves are anything but realistic.
So we have a normal guy just trying to play a video game getting punished for his synthetic ignorance. All economic markets are essentially based on synthetic ignorance that is constructed so that the average person can be taken advantage of.
No.
It is a listing fee. A listing fee, is a fee you must pay to be able to list the item. I don’t get how this is so hard to understand. You have now listed the item, and payed for that ability. It does not matter if you remove the object, you have payed for the ability to list it there.
I don’t understand why people assume things without researching and then blame the system. If you don’t know how something works, perhaps you should ask instead. Wouldn’t that make more sense?
There was a guy in America who bought a caravan and was driving down a freeway. He turned on the cruise control, and went to the back to make a coffee. The thing crashed and he SUED the company because the manual did not say that when on cruise control the car cannot drive itself, it merely maintains a set speed.
We do not need more people like this. You need to learn your harsh lesson and then be smarter for the rest of your life, rather then the world dumbing everything down and making a stupid society who can’t do anything without step by step instructions.
Im sorry if this post is a little harsh, but i am just sick and tired of people blaming others because they were not smart enough to ask how something works when they didnt know.
They did a whole news release asking people to redo there password ands the methods they are putting in place to stop hackers. They also said that 90% or something hack attempts used specific username/password combinations which means they were taken from others sites.
Unless Anet has some massive hacking done on there servers and the hackers gain the user/pass from Anet themselves, its up to the player to be smart enough to use a unique one and protect themselves.
No offense but your post is basically saying ‘Its Anet’s responsibility to babysit players who aren’t smart enough to protect there accounts." And while Anet does everything they can to help, it will never completely stop accounts getting hacked because people are not smart.
If ya wanna feel safe/ Have a unique user/pass for every single acc you ever own, and tell noone any of them.
One death plus waypoint cost can amount to 5 silver.
It’s absurd, really.
I never even had to consider repair costs in WoW, but here they’re thrown in my face.
Also, have any of you been to Orr where there’s Risen every 5 feet and they respawn every 30 seconds?
As a lvl 80 travel across the map the most ive paid is like 4s 40c. If your reviving to a waypoint right near you you wont pay more then 5s for 1 death. Don’t exaggerate.
If you have issues with your dailies, do them in low lvl zones, there is no need to do the daily in any zone higher then lvl 1-15
Ive been through orr on my warrior and ele. Granted the ele was significantly harder, due to me being used to playing plate characters, but using the correct utility spells and taking the time to go AROUND groups instead of through them, i don’t die very often. If i do, its because at least 4-5 mobs have pulled me towards them consecutively (you can dodge to evade these pulls)
The problem is that in the case of the exotic precursors, extremely rich players will buy any cheaper priced items and reprice them higher to match there other ones.
There should be a limit on people doing that for one, a few ppl shouldn’t control the price of the precursors to the extent of this.
Edit: I understand your point, but if it was that important to you, a simple search of ’Guild wars 2 character name reservation would have yielded you this
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions
Let me grab the part you want
’ What happens if I don’t reserve the name before the name reservation list is build, I don’t link my accounts, or I don’t use the name by the end of launch day?
After launch day, all remaining names will lose their reservation and become available to all Guild Wars 2 players.11 ’
You are lucky you even have a week to grab your name because you didnt do your research
——
With all due respect. I remember at the LAUNCH of guild wars 2 they said that reserved names would be reserved for like 1 week or something then they would all be up for grabs.
I was VERY surprised to hear a couple of days ago to learn they hadn’t done that yet, and its like 2 months into the game. My response was ‘Uh didn’t they already do that ages ago?"
They extended it i believe to get through the wave of support tickets first.
You have had 2 months notice by now. Just because you didnt read the news articles at the start for info on what was going to happen (considering this was important to me, i read everything) does not mean its now Anet’s fault you didnt plan ahead.
(edited by Sahriah.3792)
I don’t like being forced into buying from a certain company when I should have the freedom to choose. Thank you for your responses.
Lol. I can tell you have never been in charge of a company before.
If i ran a flower shop, in which i grew my own flowers for selling and someone came in and stole my flowers from me and then sat outside my shop and sold them cheaper..is this morally correct?
Its not the best example, but in this case the ‘original seller’ put in all the hard work to grow and nurture the flowers, and then someone comes in and undermines all there hard work and steals there well earned profits.
To throw a better comparison, if you made a game and sold it on steam for $20 and then someone cracks it and sells it for $1, would you be mad? But that person according to your example should be allowed to chose between who they buy off right?
Apart from the fact its against the Terms and services agreement ( which means its illegal) It is not morally correct to do such a time and thus is wrong.
Oh and who’s forcing you to buy gems >_>
So go run a few hours of events and make that money.. Seriously, you have a super rare skin that is going to make you a ton of cash. Don’t complain
Non-US players were missing out on a cutscene.
US players are going to be losing houses, having people in their family die, and their cities wrecked. Estimated 100 billion in damage from some people they were speculating on the news tonight.
There is a difference between a hurricane destroying your homeland versus having an off-houred event that could be watched on youtube. Seriously.
I think you completed missed my entire point. I was comparing the reaction of Americans to other people missing out on an event, to the reaction of themselves when they are the ones missing out on an event.
I in no way said anything about the hurricane or loss of property/life. I was simply saying it was amusing that when the americans are the ones missing out they want Anet to extend the event, but when other nations are missing out, its ‘oh well to bad’
I mean not offense to those victim of the hurricane, but its amusing that when non-US players were upset about missing the one time event, the majority of American responses i saw was ‘suck it up’ its just a game.
Now there missing out its a little different :P
i have about 250 ping in Australia and it wasnt to hard. Just jumped a little earlier to compensate for lag
Ive seen so many aussies complaining about how we’re kittened with the clock tower because of lag, when in reality, its fairly easy to compensate for.
Gj with the vid
5am for me. Im getting up for it. If a one time event in a game means THAT much to you, you would get up to. Deal with beng a little sleepy.
Charr warror, 50 goes, 10% trait speed buff
Sylvari ele, air aura buffs, 12 goes
Asura mesmer, no speed buffs..3 goes
So fun. I think people get caught up watching there character instead of knowing how far they can jump and going on instinct. I didnt look at my character after the first couple jumps.
Best..thing..ever
The social aspect, the fast paced heart pounding action, and THE MUSIC (omg i love the music)
