Foostival is an event that thrives on its community. We love to see your faces each year and can’t wait for May 7th to see you all again. As we are an event run by the community, for the community, why not get some guests close to the community?
Well, we went ahead and did just that. Foostival are proud to announce the very first of our guests for 2016; Alex aka The RPG Shack. Alex is a well-known community figure, running his own YouTube channel, streaming, featuring on the Guild Gab podcast, and generally prancing around as one half of the dreaded Corvalex.

Hello Tyria! It’s that time of year again when we log out of WvW, exit the Mists, and skip the Shatterer, just this once. We’ve got lots to do here at Foostival UK and we’d like to share some of it with you.
We’ve had a few delays, some unexpected turns of events, and some nice surprises while we planned the latest Foostival UK. Now, we can announce that Foostival 2016 will arrive in London, England. That’s right, we’re heading back to London for another year of F000o0d, fun and, friends at Foostival 2016.
The kind folks at Loading Bar 2 have agreed to host us on May 7th 2016. Based in London’s Stratford region, Loading Bar’s new secret opened in 2015 and looks to be the perfect place for this year’s Quaggan get together. Previously known as the St James’s Pub, Loading Bar 2 is one of London’s top locations for gamers to congregate outside of our own bedrooms, with the original Loading Bar becoming a vibrant part of the local gaming scene. You can find out more about the team at Loading bar and what they do over at www.loadingonline.com while we get down to telling you more about our venue.
With another year in Tyria about to end, the team at Foostival UK would like to invite you all to join us, in person, in 2016.
Last year’s Foostival was a roaring success with a multitude of countries from across Europe participating and an army of you present to enjoy the fun. For those of you that are new to the Foostival, it is an international Guild Wars 2 fan day. We bring people together to share their experiences of Guild Wars 2, making new friends in the process.
Each participating event had a plethora of activities last year and the UK are ready to announce that we will be back for another adventure on 7th May 2016!
More details will be coming soon on the Foostival UK website, as well as the official Foostival page. You can sign up to get that information first and watch this year’s teaser trailer.
Head on over to www.foostival.co.uk or www.foostival.com (still under reconstruction) and we will see you all Soo0o0oo0ooon.
I’ve had the opportunity to play all the tests so far and I’d like to take issue with the perception that the map is too big. It’s being utilised inefficiently by the teams that dropped in last night. The perception that the map is empty was heavily down to the rampant monozerg that took their time chewing through the objectives While the zerg was doing the rounds , some of us were busy taking towers, fending off larger groups and engaging in smaller skirmishes. While I understand your concern I do not share it. I feel that people will learn to adapt to the map rather than simply approach it as a karma train.

And I’ll be wearing one of my many many Guild Wars T-shirts.
I hope there will be some kind of Guild Wars 2 loot again this year.
Oh no, I don’t think there will be any loot this year.
~whistles~
~looks at sky~:)
Loot the Deeeeeeeeevs!
cannot wait for the con hype is ramping up now
So the next advertising session will be led by streamers running out of ANet’s own offices…I guess that is so they minimise any potential lag issues, connection issues, skill lag, latency etc and try and make it look good whilst whispering in the streamers ears as to what to do, where to go, where the ‘fights’ are and what buffs each side will pick up to maximise the good looks of the ‘fights’.
Not exactly sure how this tests ‘stress’ on the servers when it’s clearly just one huge advertising pitch…
Any idea if they will actually do a proper test before launch or are we going to get thrown the new map and have to discover all the glitches, problems, cheats, holes, hacks, etc for ourselves after release?
while I can say yep its not a 100% live test this is a major step up from the previous incarnation. There are groups of WvW focused guilds that have been invited and they are organising for a decent fight (and seekign each other out at the moment)
We’ve got a fair few people on Piken Square that are in and we are trying to organise at the moment and are sniffing around to find out who our competition is.
If you have any question that we will be taking this seriously feel free to come and watch tomorrow I’ll be streaming it on twitch.tv/screenag3r
thanks Ins, Im almost 100% sure this happened last time too
This has been happening to several people, just bear with it for now as you are not alone
I’m sure as soon as the team arrive in the office this wil get sorted but for now it’s still early over in Murica
p.s.. happening here too btw with firewalls disabled

Fantastic to hear that he team will have a presence again this year. It’s always a blast at GC and I’m looking forward to seeing you all again.
I’d be quite happy to see cosmetic items for champions on the gem store , make them as outrageous as possible
I don’t normally wade in but lets have some perspective. Complaints about how people feel about the other traits in a line feel are one thing but an entirely separate issue. his trait wasn’t working as intended and was going to get fixed one way or the other at some point.
This is a reasonable step and without a good understanding of the underlying tech involved it’s a bit short sighted of us to start firing off accusations that it should’ve been done sooner or better or different
I’m not sure if hammers are too subtle. I’ve always loved the idea of siege skins (I have this longing that one day I can get in a dapper golem kitted out with top hat bow tie and walking cane) which we’ve seen can be implemented during festivals.
but there you go that’s just my two pennies
I need to make a copy/pasta for this. :P
- Tournament organizers can regularly take 1-2 weeks to report the winners to me. From there it can take 1-2 additional weeks to distribute prizes depending on the specific day I receive the results.
That said, the past two weeks have been particularly hectic for me with WTS taking place. I’ll have everything sent out this week that I have requests for.
The fact you do not have a macro already disappoints :P
seriously though a variety of new plushies would be fantastic. the warband of charrs is getting a bit restless fighting amongst themselves
Dragon Toaster!!! Nope wait we’ve got one of those buwhawhahaw
:D
It’s the only place you’re gonna find bad players unless you transfer to a low tier server.
So you assume people on low tier are generally bad, because they play on a low tier?
To be fair, they are on average less good lol. Dh spent years in t6/7 before we ascended as far as t3, we’ve fought t5 servers really recently, and the skill levels seem to be much higher in the higher tiers. In fact, the servers made fun of for being bad tend to be better than bronze servers to be honest. I don’t mean to be offensive, but imo the skill level is definitely lower the lower you go. That’s rationally explained too, by the fact that the higher you go the more people there are, more people = more fights, more fights = more practice to get gudder. It’s funny, because I know many pug zergs in higher tiers that can easily wipe even numbered guild groups from lower tier (Tryden zerg from Dh, Bannok zerg from SBI, Nacho zerg from Mag etc etc…).
It’s not always the case that the higher ranked the better, but it’s a general rule of thumb that has definitely held true as I’ve witnessed Dh rise from t7/6 to t3/4/5. I’d say T3 > T4 > T5 >>>> T6 ? T7 ? T8. T5 servers (specifically EBay) don’t seem that far behind, while specific T6 servers (from what I’ve seen) seem absolutely horrendous (I won’t say which servers in specific). Don’t mean to sound condescending, this is just my honest observation.
I dare you to find a lower-tier guild group with numbers even to the SBI, Mag, or Dh zergs. You’d have to stick a guild group in there with 60-80 people. Where are you finding a guild like that? [WAL] from CD maybe? Because that is the only one I can think of.
[GSCH] from SoR runs [WAL] numbers give or take a few. EBay’s 2 main guildg roups both field more numbers than any single Dh guild except RIOT (Woe fields 20+ and CoT fields more). Bard/OMEN from SoR field numbers comparable to RIOT.
The problem for lower tier servers (the ones I’ve encountered anyway) isn’t that their guild groups aren’t large enough, it’s that there’s not enough of them. SoR is basically Bard/OMEN/GSCH and that’s it, period (not literally, but that’s the majority of their wvw pop).
I’ve attached a pic of one of gsch’s raids that I saw, not their highest numbers, but still large enough to make my point I think. They’re popping orange swords on razer solo, and there’s way more than just 25 there lolz.
this is not entirely different to the time I’ve spent down on low tier wvw recently. The whole server system seems in the short term appears to perpetuate the issue. Low tier players are not intrinsically bad BUT the overall mnumbers are low, fights loot and activity are harder to come by, parts of the game mode are almost mute and the overall experience is sub optimal.
Players come into low tier, get some experience and wander off to high tiers where they are overpopulated to get guaranteed fights and loot resulting in massive overpopulation and development effort being sacked towards the experience of the majority of the population and the issues they face in the upper and mid tiers that are over stacked.
WHile I don’t blame anybody for where we are it Is where we are and the only force that is stronger than the lure of loot and a decent fight is the community (read guild) that people are tied to.
All my own opinion based on my experience so feel free to disregard as aimless waffle
It’s already been confirmed that the next WTS final will be at Gamescom 2015 so we should be seeing that as a minimum. I’d expect (educated guessing now btw) as a miimum you’ll see an attendance at the twitch stand again. Either way I’m looking forward to it and seeing you all again for another year
Now I’m observing t4 EU EB – I joined Piken Square.
I hope we were gentle

Pffft. I was invited to come up to chat! Somehow that turned into a job interview (which I recognized only after the fact; Mike O’Brien is that smart) and they offered me a job.
There may or may not have been some waffles involved.
right, so waffles are the secret to a job at ANet
scribbles furiously

This thread is fantastic here’s my entry
Thanks for the reply Gaile, have brought my ticket for Friday now at London cant wait, not been to a game convention before so quite excited now
If you haven’t been to a convention before then Rezzed is a great way to start. It doesn’t have quite as many massive names at it as Eurogamer EGX does later in the year and nowhere near as many people as Gamescom.
It turns out that makes Rezzed a fairly relaxed convention. It tends to come without all the baggage that weighs on larger conventions from sexism, harassment and general bad behaviour. It has a good mix of large and small developers and lots of time to stop and get to know your fellow fans in a mellow atmosphere.
First year in the London Tobacco Docks so we will see how it fairs in a bigger venue.
hope you enjoy it
Our latest update is a little late this week (ok by three days) but it’s an awesome one

anyhow if you see somebody donning a fake moustache, perhaps a top hat and cane in a vain attempt to slip onto stronghold unnoticed again it’s probably me
In our latest update we’re bringing you the one and only Jebro to fix your pvp game

The idea of incentivising scouting or at least making it more worthwhile doing is, in my opinion, long overdue.
I do feel there are a lot of issues with trying to incentivise scouting to avoid undermining the ability to get players out on the ground or in fact to avoid trolling /min maxingh for rewards.
I was thinking tat scouts can tend to get a wee bit bored and some of the ideas here are great but quite in depth.
How about instead of the NPC’s building the upgrades scouts can participate in events to upgrade the forts and towers that keep the building process speed at its maximum (or increase it). This produces an event that can be rewardsed wit the same basic system that still exists
Instead of having to include additional scout buffs and program systems in how about the guards and NPC’s in a fort have additional ambient audio recorded that triggers when either white swords or in fact any enemy hits a door. So a scout can be chekign a fort actively and hear some ambient audio from an NPC or guard “they’re hitting the north gate” etc.
It allows scouts to be rewarded for doing something, it helps the team and it undermines afking to just deploy and siege without requiring massive amounts of reworking
OK I’m aware it’s not exactly low reach and it requires new audio but it might be more realistic than some of the other excellent ideas which require a lot of resource time to complete
