lol yes finally the long awaited buff
nerf the damage output for skill {1} on longbow and give it the same attack speed as the current shortbow {1} (and increase the shortbow’s {1} attack speed).
Ranger? – Out-shined by every other class in the game.
They have their pros and cons.
on-top of my head:
pros: You can never run out of endurance i.e. the dodge gauge bar is always full. You can pretty much dodge everything (if done right).. I’ve solo’d bosses in fractals after the rest of the party wiped (took a while to kill the boss, but i dodged everything it threw at me)
cons: ^ that’s your only pros.
This is Izan Peace of RageQuit Inc. [RQ] a resident of Blackgate and I decided to make this post after a long discussion with a ranger who was in my Fractal 52 party. Feel free to criticize my post or share your own thoughts
The highlights of our discussion revolved around Shortbow, Longbow and Pets. After reading some posts about the 12/24 updates – I’ve decided to skip a lot of crap and get right to Pets.
Pets in WvW:
“Amazing” that’s the word that springs into my mind, From taking camps solo (Bears) to hunting invaders (Eagle, Lynx and Devovers) and all the way down to healing / turtling (Moas, Eagle, pigs etc) in zergs - pets fill their role and get the job done. Yes they die a lot and you can't revive them anymore, which is really annoying but hey I couldn't ask for more. With the new spirits upgrade, the class itself has become more viable in zergs. Although I don't use my ranger in WvW anymore _(lets face it, my warrior can do everything my ranger does, 10 x better and more... like decimate small zergs all by himself)_ since i found another play style.
Pets in PvE:
For general PvE – farming mobs, killing vets etc they are really good. but in high level dungeons (esp fractals) and prolonged fights (with AoEs) they become more of a pain in the !#$& than an asset to the fight. Sometimes they draw unnecessary aggro just because the player forgot to press F3 or hit F2.
Guard mode: Pointless, unless you want the pet to stay with you (like no run off and do crazy stuff) but why should it do nothing while in this mode? at least make it take damage instead of the ranger (and no, i’m not wasting an utility slot for ‘shouts’)
Stow: What’s the point? it pops up if i take damage. The pet gets reset with it does and I have to deal with a 10s cooldown on the pet swap – not to mention the “can’t stove again until i’m out of combat”
My idea for improvement: (similar to: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Remove-Pets-and-give-us-Animal-Spirits)
Remove “stow”, Turn guard mode into “Soul” mode. I don’t know if you have seen an old animation series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BraveStarr but that guy can “get” “spiritual” animal powers by calling upon the “spirit of an animal”
example: Ranger has a bear out and when switches to guard mode – change some visual appearance on the ranger (take notes from http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Udyr sir) and give the character some ability that belongs to the pet itself, for a bear – it could be Might and Health, maybe his skills or abilities will have a chance to maul / knockdown targets. For a lynx it could be – shredding armor and bleeding, some passive movespeed increase. For a shark – a chance to go into frenzy etc.
The idea is to not have a very dumb looking animal limping around beside you – wasting precious memory, bandwidth and clock cycles but instead utilize it. Hey maybe even beef up the “Beastmaster” tree so we’ll see less X/X/X/0 rangers in the game.

I think the OP is just wondering if this game is getting a large feature that GW1 had, no more:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_versus_Guild
They also had World Championships around said feature. To me I find a little revisionists history in the whole Guild Wars doesn’t really mean Guild Wars. I know when GW1 wasn’t even released how they always talked about that singular feature being a very key one, if not the most key one. PvE was a trainer towards PvP and GvG being the ultimate as they dreamed of e-sport. Then well, stories start evolving once ya know…
& https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Where-do-guilds-war-in-Guild-Wars-II/692414
Finally a salvageable reply. Yes, this is more or less the information I was looking for.
so, a GvG can be expected in future releases – either through Mist battles or WvW. this is most of what I needed to know. If not against the guilds on the same server, I’d like to have GvG against other servers.
one more question – in spvp tournaments, will be have an option to pick the enemy guild or group? I’m pretty sure they won’t have randoms in paid tournaments (i.e. a random group of 5 non-cooperative players). we just want a better quality / class of opponents, because pug stomping is boring and pointless.
Thank you for the information and the off-topic tea party stuff.

Is WvWvW the only open PvP ground?
Where do we go if we wanna fight Guild Vs Guild? Is there / will there be an option for factions of the same server to fight against each other? I see server level ratings and rankings – will there ever be “Guild” or “Faction” level ranking?
PvP is fun, but the no public rating scenario is not helping. Enlighten me please.

can we have custom player animations so that each player has his / her own personality (you can even base it on the RP status like Ferocity, Dignity, Charm etc)? I can try some client side mods and post screenshots / videos but, according to the terms and conditions its illegal.
Here are some basic things you can modify:
> the combat stance, way a player holds his / her great sword (I want the male warriors to be able to lift and wield a great sword with a single hand)
> standing in combat stance, running in combat stance (the current animations for these are not very stylish)
It should be possible to have an item in the gems store, like a skin – we buy and add it on the character. This is not the only possible feature, I’ll let your imagination deal with the rest.
When the game started out, our guild stepped into Guild Wars 2 with a roster of 200 players, somewhere in between the release and Halloween events – we had a full roster of 275 with 190+ active all the time. Now – we have barely 6 active players.
We had a discussion on our forum, regarding this issue and some of the points brought up most people was:
1. Its too easy, end game is boring
2. Lack of hardcore PvP
3. The content, although vast – is narrow and not interesting
so we were thinking – can we have a hardcore button on top (next to the WvW icon) which you can toggle for greater rewards and severe death penalties. You should also be able to obtain hardcore missions each day (can be a part of your personal story or guild level mission, but missions have to be random, unique and never repeated) that are “really” hard, can be done solo or with a group, doesn’t have to involve combat all the time and give amazing and unique or personalized rewards and a ladder board?
honestly in our point of view / mine, THERE IS NO ENDGAME CONTENT at the moment and w/e you gave us is either beaten or has become repetitive and dull (this includes PvE, WvW and sPvP).
Just speaking my mind /rant others are welcome to share some ideas.

Let me try again, maybe I’ll keep it civil this time and not kinder the “law”.
(how do you quote someone on this forum… nvm)
Kevin:
I am sorry that you felt the need to defend one of your dungeon buddy while skipping majority of the posts.
yes, I read your first post and skipped to the reply button that is on the top of the page.
Kevin:
Would you find more value in the standard “Haha, that sucks you lost 1600 tokens” response instead? The point of my posts are to suggest what I believe in a be superior alternative, I provided reasoning and sources to back up my claims. I understand some people might not like being told such, but I’d rather getting this idea across than not saying anything at all.
You are dictating. You say it best when you say nothing at all
Kevin:
My signature is based on a hilarious response made by another poster on these forums. I find it funny and I wish to share it with other people.
It made my day, thank you for sharing.
Kevin:
Further, I am a troll because I engage in everything except witty remarks? because that is my only trait which coincidentally is both “common” and “un-used by many”? I would becareful about throwing such slanderous remarks around simply because you disagree with my ideas.
You disagreed with the OP’s build, which he wasn’t trying to showcase here. You started posting about something that is not relevant to this topic. If you want to be superior – PM him your good will; or are you just another guy for spectator sports?
You are mocking someone’s creative way of playing the game. If you truly believe the signet build is bad – then preach the developers, educate them and have the inferior skills removed…
tl;dr
You posted ~!#$% about some irrelevant ~!
#$% and ruined the post for the OP and for every other individual who read it. good job ~!@#$% ^&*().

Well, I wasn’t trying to be specific in siding with the dragons – it was just an example of how a story’s path can compliantly deviate from the current cheesy heroic.
I originally wanted to help and side with the Ebon Vanguard more in this game, I hate Therene and after Tybalt died – I was eagerly waiting for an option to resign from the order of whispers and continue my fight against the dragon in a roguish-lone-wolfy kind of way, or join one of the neutrals or just become a wanderer and one day become the unsung hero or hell quit fighting the dragons and go chillax with some lesser race then 20 years later – begins the next arc of my story (the glorious quest for immortality)
The cut scene that appears after you’ve killed the elder dragon was sooo bad it made me choke on my cake. Seriously, enough with the waving and cheering, we get it.
To me this is not a personal story, this is just like my RL where my dad (Anet) has my entire life planned, given a few options to consider along the way and where the ending is, inevitably, a disgustingly happy one.
p.s. I’m not trying to troll, or be anti-heroic or anti-communist, its just i grew up reading everything other than fairy tales and loved movies like Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, The Matrix, 5cm per second, every single Christopher Nolan movie ever made etc. where the ending isn’t a happy one – but an ending the story deserved.

Will there ever be a fallen mode in story where you are not the hero of justice? Why wasn’t there an option to ally with the elder dragon?
I feel this game requires more diversity in its champions. Not everyone likes to save the day…
p.s.
I liked the part in the story where you kill the person from the order you are assisting, I felt the best death scene in the game should / must be Tybalt's (Charr) farewell; it was unbelievably cool while the Siren (Salvari) was pathetic - dying for friends? she had a good personality but a bad ending.
I was with HARMANATOR.2368 on that particular CoF run, I can confirm the party wide DR bug kicking in.
Our total time spent in CoF was aprox +/-25mins at the end of both the paths.
~Z
yup, the total time we took to run all of the above in the very same order was less than 1hr 25mins, we killed all the monsters in CoF path 2 – that includes everything that spawns in the event where you protect magg.
everyone in our party got 45 tokens as reward.
please don’t punish us for being too good, ArenaNet You also owe me a big chocolate parfait in exchange for the missing tokens.
Here is your answer:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Arah-NPC-bug-at-Lupi
Why don’t you guys make a dungeon that is a maze filled with traps and puzzles (throw in some npcs that give you random riddles), that has 10 entry points and 1 exit point – where each entry automatically closes if a person walks through it? Don’t add monsters, don’t add bosses – just fill it with puzzles (that are picked at random) and one team puzzle at the end (that probably requires you to collect something from the path) and rewards you based on what item you placed at the last puzzle.
inb4flames
I know its a team game, team work blah blah blah… but come on, where’s the essence of the lone wolf spirit. A person should be able to complete this dungeon with his own, individual skill (like jumping puzzles, but decent rewards or tokens)
You just need lots of vigor and endurance with some dodge practice to kill lupi in a single try.
But Anet needs to move a wp closer to lupi, why not just leave it at “lupi will rest if you pull him out of the room” and just let us use the wp that’s close to him? The run back from magecrusher is REALLY annoying and it doesn’t improve a player’s skill other than make people whine, qq and ragequit.
p.s. I suggest you (Anet) add a wp close to lupi and fill the paths with lots of traps, make it narrow. This solves EVERYTHING.
(edited by Severan Rye.6215)
With the new changes to Arah, in Path 3* if the npc (the salvari) doesn’t enter the room in which you fight lupi in then lupi randomly resets. This usually happens if you wipe after your first attempt to kill Lupi (the npc can be seen standing near the place where you kill the risen gorillas)
This happened about 3 times for our group and I submitted 3 very angry bug reports ingame.
If you get the NPC into the room she/he (still confused about the salvari’s gender) does not “randomly” reset and neither does, unless the person who holds the aggro steps in and out of the room (even shadow stepping will reset lupi)
p.s. If you bring the npc into the room, get him/her killed in P2 and don’t res him/her, don’t even attempt to do a 1/2 res, we saw lupi draining her HP to 0 even while he/she was dead.
p.p.s the NPC tanks about 2 ~ 3 AoE hits (hint for pugs)
