Ele’s really arn’t that bad tbt, it just takes alot more skill to pull of than the other meta builds and its really the counters from classes and s/d thieves that shut eles down, nerf the other builds, dont change ele.

AL has never kicked a player, fyi. Hemo left due to personal reasons, Kaypud left to play with team USA, and i am unable to compete due to the pax requirements. Had the pax requirements not been implemented we would have 4/5 of our original roster.

The leaderboards needs a reset, the current leaderboards is very bad and being abused.
Its very uncompetitve and people rank down faster than they rank up on the leaderboards due to people abusing it and being inactive.I’ll explain current leaderboards with a bunch of images.
*Img1, This is the start of my explaination
*Img2, Notice none of the top 25 play in 20 hour period
*Img3, Team sleepy wins 5 games and loses 6 (idk how they still so high on leaderboards), Jumper wins 10 games and loses 1, Dreamer goes from 5th to 1st by just not playing (10 games won out of 11, Jumper should be #1, you’ll see why he isn’t soon).
*Img4, Jumper wins 6 games and loses 0 (if people above you don’t play you don’t advance)
*Img5, Supcute plays a tpvp wins 5 games and loses 2 and drops 2 spots and Jumper advances, Dreamer is still #1 and hasn’t played a game.
*Img6, Jumper wins 7 games and loses 0, but remains 2nd because Dreamer doesn’t play any games.
*Img7, Jumper becomes #1 and dreamer gets knocked off top 25 (most likely due to leaderboard decay, I think this is when it was implemented, I’m pretty sure he hasn’t played in a month and when a month hits you drop 25 spots I assume).
*Img8, 22 days later, I assume Dreamer noticed he dropped and he played 1 game (becomes #2 from 1 game, while Jumper had to play over 20 games just to get to #2, this fair??), I notice some other people did that as well like Kaypud.
*Img9, This image just shows that Dreamer still chilling on leaderboard as #2 after just 1 win which was 16 days ago. Jumper gives inactive players chance to be #1 (by playing 2 games) but he just proves he too kitten good.This is how abusive the leaderboard is, you’ll see a lot of top players abusing the leaderboards like this. Team sleepy won the last major tournament, they’ll probably win NA, they play somewhat active on leaderboards but they aint top 5, top 5 reserved for inactive players that win 1 game every month just to stay top 5 (exception of a few, like Jumper, hes been on a 33 game win streak he continues to prove that hes still the best and that people haven’t got better than him).
I cant prove this but, I’d wager most of those guys that don’t tpvp as much and abuse the leaderboards, they playing hotjoins and farming rank point xp, I don’t follow streams so I cant tell if some of them went from rank 40 to rank 60 in that time period. Those guys maybe the best (prolly not, lucky 1 win over solo que wouldn’t slip my mind) but they are abusing the leaderboards, and the leaderboards deserves a reset. And because of the inactivity of players so high up, it doesn’t give anyone a chance to advance higher because the people higher than them aren’t playing as frequently and giving them a chance to take there spots, the only time someone takes there spot is when they lose games, and seeing sleepy lose games like that and win major tournaments it wouldn’t slip my mind that those people abusing would lose just like sleepy did, but because of inactivity they’ll remain top 25 as long as they play GW2 and abuse the system.
Oh and lastly, I wouldn’t really blame people for abusing leaderboards, its just the current tournament system is very uncompetitive and the hotjoin system offers too much rank point xp to resist its hard to not abuse pvp. As long as hotjoins offers easy unrisky access to massive rank points and tournament system doesn’t really make you famous at all by continuing playing it and winning all day long, people will just continue to abuse the leaderboards, even when solo que comes out once someone gets top 100 they’ll probably just chill on it and slowly make there way to the top and make sure they win a game every month so they don’t get dropped.
I don’t see any reason why someone top 5 should play a game, all they do is risk being in the top 5 and they’ll never advance because like you saw with the jumper scenario I discussed you just don’t advance if none of the other people play, the game allows you to stay top 5 if you don’t play for up to a month so why play games and drop when you don’t have to and you have crazy amount of easy and unrisky rank points to rank up in hotjoins. It aint no brainer that those top players will chose the unrisky move and crazy easy access to rank point exp, theres no reward for playing tpvp when your up there, theres nothing that makes you more famous than just sitting on leaderboard and boasting your top 25.
You forgot to mention that Jumper/Acandis/Java only play their smurf accounts while any other good teams are queing, making it nearly impossible for their main accounts to suffer rating loss while they increase slowly due to losses of people above them playing their mains, or queing when no-one else is.

I did not post this to stir the pot. I posted this to show people some of the defensive capability of necro. I dare to say most people would have no idea this was a possibility even after reading the patch notes. Keep in mind there is an icd on the life force generation from spectral armor which unless its bugged, would actually be stronger in damage mitigation (in some scenarios) than whats show in that video.
If you weren’t attempting to stir the pot than you wouldn’t have been claiming l2play not more than two posts later. Your video is horrifyingly one sided. It’s perhaps the worst example of gameplay to illustrate a point I have yet to see.
Essentially you told the Necro to buff himself completely and then hit him with a class that doesn’t deal with burst and you didn’t use any of your actual burst skills.
Tip 1: Any semi decent elementalist would have immediately used his kb on a necro in ds, now the necro is dead.
Tip 2: Air form is the absolute worst thing to ever use pre and post patch against a necro because it relies on consistent damage and not the massive hits which is the main issue.
These are well known and obvious issues that you know as a high-level pvp player. Two of our podcasters went out and tested after watching this little joke of a video. They did two tests.
Test 1: Spectral armor plus 40 percent DS just traits against an ele – Necro started off with 40 percent LF and 21k health – Ele pulled off a true burst using Fire into Air and even landed a Dragon’s tooth – Necro ate 9.5k worth of damage and took a hit of 1.5k to his health.
Test 2: Spectral armor on CD no prot – 40 percent DS – Ele pulls of same rotation – Necro ends at 3.8k health.
When asked if they can now test it with spectral armor up – DS up ,and start with a KB they replied with why the Necro would be dead. Because he has no DS at that point.
That is the reality Blinx, and if your example was designed to prove that we have viable utilities then the video would have shown how simple it is to avoid all of those mitigations with a simple KB or stun.
In the end, the problem lies in the fact that Necros put out too much damage and the changes made have done nothing to improve their survivability. Any knockback or stun immediately locks us out of DS if we were in it. So while the Necro is the ultimate snowball class with weakness/prot/stability on you won’t be able to kill them, they can be easily dismantled with a simple KB.
Damage needs to be brought down, and the necro needs an option to survive or get out of fight that doesn’t rely solely on Death Shroud.
This poster is sadly misinformed. This is a burst combo that can near 1 shot the mass majority of builds right now. A simple knock-back would have done nothing, because 15k in damage from the combo took next to nothing off of life force, and you can pop shroud while knocked down, and mitigate all that damage.
Air has always been one of the staples of s/d ele builds, as it provides good spike in combination with the arcane spells and decent sustain from range. It is not by any means bad vs. necros and even more so after the patch, it allows you to avoid the large amounts of weakness necros put out.
Fire Burst, while good, is alot more easily avoidable, and the likely hood of landing a full fire combo is next to none, and adds, i’d say approximately 8-10k damage onto the combo, assuming most attacks don’t crit. Which by all means does enough damage combined to kill a bunker guardian.

The meta right now just isn’t interesting to play in or watch. AOE condi spam is so stupid, S/D evade is stupid, spirit rangers are stupid. Strong Power burst is at least interesting to watch/play because of the ability to avoid that damage. You can dodge a bunch of conditions and you just get spam applied with more.
Adapting to the meta is fine, but it should be at least fun to play.

I personally will be leaving the competitive guildwars scene if worst comes to worst, and this won’t be because I hold any resentment to Arena Net, but in fear that this could happen again in the future and that I would be an obstacle for my team; because hey lets face it potentially the region restriction could remain for the next coming tournaments and I have no way of knowing if it will or won’t, so the safer option would be to assume that it would remain.

Regardless of how you feel about Xeph personally, his point is true. The situation he describes is something that players on competitive teams that are barred from competing are having to make a decision on, to try to keep playing and hope that the restrictions are changed, or leave and let your team find someone that can meet the restrictions so that they don’t have to do what they’re doing now, scrambling to find a new player.

I don’t understand why people that are under the age of 18 can’t play. There has to be something we can do about this.
- Why can’t we just forfeit that persons prize?
- Why can’t we pay our own way for that one person by booking a flight and a hotel in the area?
- Why can’t we have their parent/legal guardian sign something? If you’re worried about something happening, then why not have a release that says you’re not responsible for them?I just don’t understand. So many teams now have to essentially ditch players that they’ve played with, and built synergy with. There’s been plenty of LANs that have had cash prizes where people under the age of 18 have been able to not just play, but win things. There needs to be an explanation for this.
The same goes for players not in Canada, USA, Mexico, and the EU. Good teams now have to reorganize for qualifiers that are 2 weeks away.

Two of the best teams on NA (PZ, AL) have to change rosters due to these player requirements, and losing a 5th means alot more than just the trouble of finding a new player in 2 weeks. You lose months even years of synergy and you don’t want the teams you’re showing off to the world as an example of your game to be playing on sub par levels. TP is affected by the region requirements and i believe TCG is as well.

On any given night on NA there are maybe 5 competitive teams on, and that is split between scrimmages and tournament Que, more people need to make teams for the solo Q/ Team Q to work or else the teams will only have a small window of time to que up every day, just like the old tournament system.

I feel like I’m repeating myself over and over again (it would help if you’d read more of the thread).
There is coordination within the team particularly in the context of the conquest game mode. Teams that can control the field well (specifically, the points/minor objectives) are the most successful in high end tPvP. There is skill involved in this, and not every team can do it. There certainly were players / teams better than I in this aspect.
Furthermore, I’ll be the first to admit that a team full of players running around, using their rotation off cooldown will be less successful than a team coordinated to cap points. Hell, I would even say a team running around spamming their skills would likely lose to a coordinated team in a death match (though you probably wouldn’t really be able to tell the difference between the two teams).
But seriously, beyond mastery of the whole conquest thing, you really think this game gets much deeper? Support roles are laughable, and building your team for “good composition” really means having the right amount of bunkers, cannons, and roamers. Real teamplay, particularly in combat, is nonexistent or coincidental (by this I mean, your condition removal may also remove your teamate’s condition, but that’s not why you used it).
And no, I won’t be joining any up-coming tournaments, and why would you expect us to? We’re listing reasons why we find the game isn’t worth playing. Why would any of us feel the drive to master shallow gameplay?

I agree with the particle effect thing, obviously. Though I’m not sure removing the cast bar was the greatest idea, the fact that it’s nigh impossible to pick out many skill animations makes it just pointless.
It seems ANet had a bunch of neat little ideas that, while individually they sounded nice, haphazardly blended together they end up detrimental.

The competitive scene is developing, the game will get more complex as the meta and the teams find new ways to improve themselves. There is already a bunch of ways teams support each other through peels, heals, stability, c/c , cleaving areas to zone, coordinating blinds, stealth, interrupts, manual rez, skill rez, portal plays and more. While someone can’t stand back and heal your team repeatedly, the ability to selectively heal your team-mates is available and can make the difference in fights. The game is getting better and it will get more exciting as the difference in team skill closes. We saw a tournament last week with multiple 2-0 games in the finals and semi-finals. This week we say 2 last second plays that decided games and a really really close series with TP and TCG.

Overkill and it doesn’t target the stuff that was actually needed to balance ele’s. It just limits eles to continue playing tanky builds because they can’t use a burst combo and then get out, like every other burst class in the game.

Almost every profession has access to swiftness, gap-closers, crowd control, cripple, chill, or immobilize, not to mention blinks. This is not a big issue. If they kite away from you off a point you win the point, if they stay on point the points are small enough that you can easily attack them, with the exception of foefire mid. Of course If its a team fight an they don’t need to stay on point, work with you team to coordinate c/c and if stab is up use immobilizes.

I generally avoid these threads because the negativity and hostility are terrible for the game, but the boon hate idea certainly perked my interest. Any information about how boon hate would be implemented? Ie would it be pushed as you do X% more DMG per boon or another mechanic, I’m not sure that giving thief and warrior a straight damage buff on targets would necessarily be a great idea, a sustain buff would seem more helpful, for both professions, and “boon hate” being a very situational thing, as punishing players for class mechanics/skills that gain boons could in all possibility create less viable builds than currently available.
Also thanks to the Dev and Community team for being very vocal today, keep it up!
