All the issues which people use against the inclusion of mounts, have in the most part been successfully dealt with in other games.

Its that simple.

The most part ………..a rather dismissive and unmeasured term .
What you require mounts means a lot of redesign and work its not as simple as you try to portray it .
Scale at present is designed balanced on walk explore discover .
The ranges space of events creatures is also based on this.,the speeds reactions ranges of monsters also.
Inclusion of mounts would require a lot of rebalancing and rescaling which is far from simple .And would always have the ability to seriously hinder systems that work at present .
Just think through the effect of speed ….can an animal attack a mount ..can the mount outrun ….if the speed is adjusted can the player on foot escape ..how far will the creature chase …how do you limit range how far chase before retreat …..do you keep slow reaction ranges as now ..simply make horses fast invunerable means of travel …how do you limit the effect player running one event another when in a close area …do we change the scale events ..the timing events …the distances between ….and we can go on and on and on .

No simply the problems with mounts have not been answered just ignored it seems .

Mount supporters have addressed the issue of speed many times in this thread. Either the mount could be dismounted upon entering combat, it could have no speed bonus at all, or it could have no speed bonus but a short dash ability. Regardless, it wouldn’t create any more problems with zone exploration and mob aggro than speed boons would, if implemented properly.

Hey guys, here’s an idea that I’ve come up with:

As the title says, I think Crafting Guilds would be a nice addition to the game. My idea is that there could be large halls in a major city, similar to the idea of “Guild Halls”, for each crafting profession. In order to get in, however, you must have achieved 400/400 skill level in the respective craft. While in the guild, players would have access to slightly cheaper crafting materials, similar to the ones sold by the master crafters near the crafting stations, but with ~5% discount. Additionally, players could earn titles for gaining entrance to the crafting guilds, such as “Master Chef” or “Master Jeweler”.

I’ve only just come up with the idea, so there’s obviously a lot of room for improvement, and I look forward to your feedback.

Yea any comment that says “NO” and doesn’t provide a valid reason should be disregarded, plenty of supporters have provided lists of reasons why mounts would benefit the game and how they could be added to ensure that they aren’t problematic, only to be shot down by people that say “NO I DON’T LIKE WOW, THEY DON’T BELONG HERE.” . . .

I’ve never actually had a problem with the damage scaling underwater, and to be honest I like the alternate skillset and change of combat style. Maybe you haven’t been upgrading your water weapon/helm enough?

You all just don’t understand – it’s not about if You like pvp, or if i am missing something. If it’s PVP – put it to PVP achievements category. If it’s not there – don’t put PVP parts in it.
Simple as that.

The monthly and daily achievement categories are compiled achievements from other categories. If you’re trying to avoid PvP achievements then don’t do achievements in the pvp/monthly categories.

It’s about encouraging players to experience areas of the game that they might not normally explore. The same argument could be made about the dynamic events from the perspective of players that only like to do WvW, right? I mean, you don’t need to do the achievement if you are so opposed to WvW that you are willing to post on the forums about how you are uncomfortable with it because of it’s requirements.

I really think I’m not…actually I think I said it already.
In fact I wouldn’t mind if they were harder if they had those couple of improvements I suggested.

It seems like what you’re doing is asking for easier jump puzzles by suggesting features that eliminate the possibility for failure, which obviously takes away from the challenge of completing the puzzles and the rewarding feeling of accomplishment that follows completion.

+1 for the post, I’m greatly in support of the addition of mounts in the game, granted they are implemented properly. However, there is already a larger post on the subject here:

That feature would compliment the home-instance well, but would be nice to have additional “things about it” other than just… Well, being there.

Upon marriage the two players’ home-instances are merged into one.
You get a new feature, the option for a divorce, this will cost loads of money and the instances are sepparated again.
In a hetero-marriage, the instances are not sepparated – she keeps the home instance. He gets a new home instance, a little shack under a bridge in Lion’s Arch. Also, part of all his TBLC income is send to her instead as alimony.

The prenup expansion will then add a new trade skill, the divorce lawyer. It will ad divorce pvp minigames. Also, it will have a hardcore mode, where players who won in previous divorces but loose in a subsequent one, will have to repay part of the spoils from those previous devorces back to their former spouses but in karma instead of gold – this will be karmic justice so to speak.

On a more serious note. If it doesn’t take away too much from dev time, anything that will make people happy without affecting my game enjoyment has my support

This is a unique idea and could add a lot of depth to the game’s storyline. My only concern is that I have a lot of doubt that ArenaNet would ever add this. It would be extremely nice to see though, and I support this idea

Perhaps it would, or perhaps it wouldn’t be a crafting activity at all? I could see this working out similar to mining/chopping/harvesting materials, except using various types of fishing poles purchased from vendors and gathering fish from random schools of fish in bodies of water.

A few people have already noted that some professions have access to 100% swiftness uptime with refined builds. For those particular professions, swiftness is permanent when exploring. Other builds have access to high percentages of swiftness uptime when exploring as well. Essentially, if mounts were implemented properly, they could simply serve as another form of swiftness. If the decision that mounts would provide too much mobility for players was reached by the ArenaNet team for whatever reason, then that particular issue should not provide reason to deny the idea of adding mounts for aesthetic purposes. There are ways that mounts could be implemented to compensate for “too much mobility” as well. Perhaps being mounted could open up a new skill-set, where the mount would have a temporary dash ability, and then return to a reasonable speed until the skill cooldown has refreshed. I also believe that it would make sense for players to be dismounted upon entering combat in order to resolve the issue of content-skipping.

Ok, so why shouldn’t mounts be added for cosmetic/collectible purposes? If your thoughts are that mounts would provide too much mobility, then why shouldn’t mounts with no bonuses to movement speed be added purely for aesthetic purposes? Be a bit more constructive with your feedback please. We’ve already seen enough posts of people saying “NO” and providing no reason whatsoever.

Just came up with this idea now. Arenanet, is there any chance that you can make marriage available in this game? I am a experienced mmorpg gamer, 3 years, and I played Rift few of those months and I remember when they put marriage into the game, the fun, the joy, and the ’’status’’.

Please, answer. Is this a idea that you may even consider in the future?

I don’t think this idea was suggested as an alternative to real-world marriage. It’s just a fun role-playing idea… this is a role-playing game after all.

Does it bring any utility? Does it improve the game? Or is it just something to show around? If it is, thumbs down. Either way i never felt marriages in games should exist, unless if it is for a pure RP server

If it provides enjoyment/entertainment to players, it improves the game. If this feature was added to the game, and you felt it didn’t benefit your particular play-style, then you don’t need to use the feature.

Adding mounts won’t create mobility issues… people are already speeding around with 33% swiftness buffs. Riding a mount is the same idea, just with an animal under your character.

No matter how much you hate WoW, it will not change the fact that mounts have the potential to add so much to the exploring/leveling experience in this game if implemented properly, even at the cost of removing X% of waypoints. Skipping content by teleportation removes alot of the “absorbing the environment” feel when travelling across the world. There’s really nothing that could go wrong if ANet added mounts in a reasonable fashion. It’s ridiculous how many people post here acting like they would go back to Guild Wars 1 if mounts were added. -_-

I’m fine with mounts as long as
- they can’t fly
- you get dismounted as soon as you pull a mob
- you can’t perform any actions while mounted
- you can’t use them in towns, dungeons or pvp

I am greatly in favor of a dueling feature in Guild Wars 2. Ideally, characters should be able to duel in all areas outside of major cities.
I think an excellent addition to the dueling feature would be a colosseum in Lion’s Arch where people can duel other players in lobbies (or their friends) and stake gold against eachother, as Azguard was saying! (:

I believe that adding mounts won’t draw people that are opposed to the idea away from the game, however, it will draw players with a drive to collect them to play the game more. What could ANet lose by adding mounts, even if they had to remove ~25-50% of the waypoints?
