Corrected mine. Apparently there is some dependence on the .Net Framework.
So…..
1. updated/reinstall your MS .Net Framework (mine is at 4.0)
2. restart your computer
3. upon restart, make sure your .Net framework loads properly. If you get an error pop-up, click “continue”…do NOT stop the framework from loading. There are plenty of sites/info online to tell you how to find/detect what version of the framework you are running.

Lagfest at SM in EB is killing our moral. Kept hitting it over and over to give Waha pressure on TC garri, but it gets old running in over and over and fighting lag as the “third” enemy. Anet needs to fix this crap QUICK!

T1….3 way EB fight at Stonemist….unplayable. Glad the focus is on content updates every 2 weeks and a living world because WvW will be empty if this keeps up.
Lagmist Castle has been a blast all day! 3 way fights at 4 frames a second!
It’s not useless in PvE. Read what people have said. In EARLY testing with it, it seems optimal for a S/D build and is very nice for consistent as well as bursty damage.
@LightningBlaze….think I might have ran into you this morning on EB outside SM on the west side. I am running a similar S/d build and dropped you to a sliver of health, but then you did same to me before someone else came in on our fight. My build is slightly different but is working GREAT! I won’t give it away just yet. haha
WHAT?!?!? All I did was ask if anyone saw the player UNDER the map this morning in EB taking out siege and ganking AFKers in Anz tower, and it got removed with the message…

I didn’t even name a player or anything….just “who else saw it because our server reported them”. Reminds me why I don’t bother to post anything in here anymore.

haha I just realized that today was reset day, and I haven’t played WvW all week. Bet I am not the only JQ-er to do that.

Ok, first off, I will say I know we all (all 3 sides) love good fights, love to trash talk a bit here and there, love to win, etc., and I think for the most part, we all frown on those (even on our own side) that have to lower themselves to questionable tactics to “win” at a silly video game.
Now while we can all agree that to “spy” is bad….be it someone in TS from the other side or someone playing on another side and telling chat commands and troop movements. But last night I saw firsthand spying taken to a whole new low I had not seen before.
Around 2am cst, I was in Durios tower in EB….myself on an arrow cart, another player on treb hitting SM and one empty AC. Suddenly a char character comes into the keep….comes up to the second floor and stands right next to my AC….never moves again….then a treb from SM (owned by BG at the time) starts hitting the courtyard and within 3 shots, hones in on our treb taking it out. Without missing a beat, the treb attacking adjusts fire and swings perfectly to take out our AC on the far side (which can NOT be seen outside the tower)….2 hits and gone. Finally, it swings all the way across the tower to the wall I was on adjusting fire only once and hits my AC perfectly. Again….2 hits gone. …..all siege gone….the char standing next to me disappears/logs….then not 15 seconds later, BG storms the tower and takes it down.
Fair play? I think not. Come on guys!….keep it classy! =)
BG’s treb crews are so stupid they don’t know how to treb a tower, and if they do successfully destroy your sieges, it must be the work of a spy!!!!

you probably don’t have any experience of trebbing Durios from SMC. A good experienced trebber sometimes doesn’t need a spotter at all, if he/she knows the possible location of the siege (it can be predicted if the trebber knows the environment well enough), firing angle, and the power required.
It is possible that the BG treb crew intended to destroy the wall, but hit your sieges accidently when he was adjusting the angle and power. It’s the first rule of trebbing, if you see the number, you keep hitting it until you stop seeing it.
Besides, if you know the best location to place your sieges, BG probably knows it too, they have been blue for a long time.

Seriously? First off, yes, a good trebber will fire around and hit many spots on a tower….I will give you that. BUT…..1. knowing EXACTLY where to fire 2. knowing EXACTLY when siege was destroyed to then adjust fire to next target 3. hitting ONLY the siege that was there at the time (ie. not just hitting where siege “should” be) 4. having a “spy spotter” suddenly there and once all siege is gone, they log off….not to mention, not long after the BG zerg comes and takes the tower……. if you can explain away ALL of those, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
….and go back to where I said WE ALL like a good, fair fight. Hey, I think BG and SOR have very good players…..JQ has no monopoly on that….I LIKE it that way….makes the game more fun….if JQ (or BG or SOR) had all the good players and just trounced everyone every week, the game would get real old real fast. My only point was that I saw something that ALL of us can/should agree was pretty low. Is that THAT hard for you to see and say “yeh, that sucked.” ?!?!?!

Just now took part in a tier 1 battle in EB at Stonemist …..three way fight just now…..large armies on all 3 sides….game was near unplayable with severe skill lag, target switching lag, and worse for me as a elem, attune swapping was near nonexistent due to lag.
So simply put….much like the limitation of your engine to have larger WvW maps (which you clearly stated with “sorry, it is what it is and can not be fixed”), will ANet PLEASE address this lag with large scale battles. Can it be fixed or are we just stuck with it?!?!?! VERY frustrating.
What gives?!?! On JQ/SOR/BG since the reset, it is laggy no matter where you are (any bg)….and I am not talking the usual zerg vs zerg skill lag….I mean running solo….killing ambient mobs….gathering…whatever…..chat is going nuts about it.
Waha has left and hurt JQ. Now you realize first hand what it was like when SmokeeGee left. Just gotta bounce back and keep pushing
If you think one person makes the server/game, you are very….uhm….in light of any further moderator slaps on the hand, I will just say…you are wrong. Zerg herding really takes no special skill other than talking loudest in TS or willing to type the most in chat.
…and BG proves right now (as JQ has every week prior), that having overwhelming numbers on at all hours is really what “wins” this game at the moment. The system itself is borked and badly designed…but then no game company has yet addressed this significantly.

Crazy fun night fighting off SOR on one side and BG on the other as they fought ….and finally took (after crashing on the rocks many times)…..our keep in EB. BG working with SOR was funny as always but whatever. Don’t care. It’s a game. I played a few hours, had fun and now getting some sleep.

One hour of PvE and one hour of WvW should reward you the same amount. Stop treating WvW players less than PvE players.

Yes. Guardian/Thief/Ele can no longer block.
Some folks forget them because they are in such a usual (bad) rhythem of button mashing. Some take to long to cast (and can be interrupted) as well. Some might have theirs on cooldown. It all just depends.
They need to adjust siege BACK to how it was in the beginning. You SHOULD get 2 shotted by a catapult or cannon. You SHOULD die in a hail of arrows if you stand there. Now, everyone just takes a small hit, heals and keeps going. Defending with siege should be possible not painful.

Op….it’s quite easy…
1. if a ele is running solo or trying to catch up to the zerg, D/D is the best way to go. Lots of mobility vs. other weapon choices.
2. in the zerg, staff is best (as far as being most usuable from a support standpoint)….then again, D/D is the second choice to be a “zerg buster”.
3. scept/focus is used at times…but right now, most of the skills are slow and easy for the other side to evade……fun to run in zergs as a change up.
4. you will see focus used mostly by elem folks to “swirl” to block incoming siege shots….and this gets old just standing there swirling when it is up.
So THAT is why you see D/D more on the battlefield than any other.
Not to mention, DaPhoenix was “kind” enough to write an exhaustive D/D guide that makes any bad playing drooler look like a mega-god on the battlefield. (I still blame him for all of it! hahaha)
If they intended it to be casual they shouldn’t be keeping score.
You think keeping score means ANYTHING?!?!? It’s just simple gamification mechanics to keep people playing.
It resets each week. Who wins and who loses really matters very little if you think about it. Bragging rights? To who? You think your next door neighbor cares that your server won some video game they probably never heard of and much less care about? haha
For all the many, many threads from folks constantly complaining that WvW lacks this or that…..that it should have better drops….better unique rewards…granular “leader” boards…etc…..keep in mind that from the beginning (look back at the design notes, pre-launch marketing, etc) that Anet said that their aim for WvW was for it to be CASUAL focused….so that anyone could jump on, play for a short time and feel they were on level footing with everyone else while also doing their part to contribute. So if that is indeed still their mission statement and operating instructions for WvW, why then do you try to make it into something it will never be? You will never get “better” gear. You will never get uber WvW skills. Your reward is the fun you have while playing (as it should be).
Simply put….it is as alternative system they put in place to appease those who want PvP fighting on a grand scale but lack the time (or motivation) to really put into it on a competitive level (such as sPvP). The fact that there are many “hardcore” players who waste away several hours each day flipping this tower, taking that supply camp, sieging Hills/Bay/Gari wash, rinse and repeat for hours on end does not mean that Anet will ever change their initial intent and reward those who spend more time than others on the game.
Get over it and enjoy.
From the QQ in this thread, I am guessing you do not have GOOD people in your /m or /t or on TS that are broadcasting the countdown timer on those WPs, eh? You DO know that as they “defend” countdown timer goes to zero, you can spam click the WP and use it. (ie. it goes uncontested for a brief period).That’s why on JQ (where the boss WvW-ers live apparently…haha), you see people in chat with “10 sec on gari wp…starting spamming now!!!! GET HERE!”. Try that out and stop crying about 1-3 WP’s that you mostly don’t use anyways.

Not really. Someone just sat around since the patch and rode the zerg around and/or jumped map to map killing yaks and sentry guards…it’s easy….if you really want to waste away your life doing it.
JQ tier 1 super secret zerg steam roller strategy…..Commander calls “food” and “eat up”….people drop food, everyone eats that needs it…Commander calls out “cast boons” or “boon up”….everyone casts so most everyone gets boons….then charge the other zerg. Not too complicated.
It’s embarrassingly sad to calls this the “fix” for WvW. I am in tier 1…JQ….every BL…..zergs just avoid each other and swap camps/towers/keeps now. Hardly any real fights.
On JQ…..since patch, each BL is now just “jump in the zerg and follow for WXP”….zergs rarely fight other zergs….just trade towers/camps/keeps over and over now for WXP….no real fights even…just run in a big circle opposite or ahead of the other enemy zergs. It reminds me of almost how bad Star Wars (SWTOR) got with players trading “tank kills” in “world pvp”.
Was this really the big WvW “fix” patch that Anet intended?
(*and yes, I already hit WvW rank 4 just doing NOTHING but riding the zerg)

AOE damage or buffs should be ANYONE within the radius of AOE. Furthermore, much like what was done RIGHT in “another game”, the strength of the damage/buff of the AOE should be strongest at it’s center and weaken as it goes outward to it’s edge.
HOW HARD IS THAT TO DO IN THIS DAY AND AGE IN GAMING?!?!?!?!
Too funny! Numbers start to get even so SOS up and quits. They sure loved zerging all around when everyone else was outmanned. Now it’s an even field and it’s no longer the same for them…(insert excuse # 45103)
I LOVE them! But as said…a lot of players have no clue how to use them so they just ignore it.

“Been a real fun last week”…..I disagree. It’s been zergier than ever to the point of being no fun. All it is becoming is zerg balls swarming around maps taking and swapping this point and that while playing keep away from each other until/unless they get an idea that their numbers are greater than the other side and an actual battle might ensue.
Hope the WvW “fixes” come soon!
Reset night! The game was pretty “meh”….zerg crashing upon zerg running into portal bomb rushing into zerg taking out siege fighting over supply camps…..wash rinse repeat…..but Teamspeak was a BLAST!!! PARTY TIME!!!!….SOS BL, drunks being drunk……JQ BL, drunk commanders cheerleading “get on the bandwagon…just like SOS!” (haha)….EB, commanders fighting in chat with each other like little girls to the point of being embarrassing…..BG BL, more drunk partying!!!!. (moral of story? stay out of EB TS channel haha)……good times. Now THIS is some WvW on a weekend on JQ!!!!!
You can replace your entire wall of text and any description of any guilds above by simply saying:
“Come to SOS….we are a zerg server that wins by overwhelming numbers which we like to kid ourselves into thinking is real skill” instead of using “large scale combat” throughout your descriptions.
Right now, WvW rewards zerg play. Known fact. It is what it is. And SOS is reaping those rewards. Hopefully Anet will fix that as WvW evolves. Right now, it is just turning away more and more players.
Larger maps break up zergs. ….But there are about 10 things in WvW that could be easily changed to make WvW more engaging for solo playes, small groups and zergs alike.
This is laughable! I play a D/D ele….and not the FOTM which is based LARGELY on the running thread by DaPhoenix in the elementalist forum on this site (ie. it tells EVERY drooling cheetoh crumb stained basement dweller exactly how to play the build).
I will say what everyone SHOULD know…EVERY class/spec can be beaten….it is just that people usually play the other cookie cutter specs and do not THINK to figure out how to beat the classes/specs that beat them consistently.
Wanna beat a D/D elem? Keep them immobilized. Keep them ranged. Thieves that jump in and out of stealth…short bow + heals on stealth…those are tough to beat. Necros to a D/D elem…LONG boring fight which a necro can win.
Things to look for….if you see a blazing trail of lightning coming at you…DODGE!…cause the next attack is a knockdown/back. After that, a cookie cutter D/D will likely go into fire….kite backwards….then they will switch to earth for another knockdown and a big slow cast AOE….dodge out of it.
Not so hard if you know what they are doing…..like ANY other class you come up against.
