After completion, Casual/Core–Fractal Hero & Elite–Fractal Veteran/Master achieves should unlock repeatable “Hobby” achieves that offer rewards for completion such as:
A chest for each difficulty tier with incremental rewards per tier granting achievement points, gold, encryption keys, pristine fractal relics, stabilizing matrixes, a gold fractal relic or skins for the higher tiers, and an increased chance for ascended chests.
Instead of adding a new category for fractal weeklies under the achievement panel, 4 new achievements could simply be added under the existing fractal section with this setup.

it’s probable that I’m more familiar with s/d and s/p than staff, so I found them more effective. I’ll play around with staff more this week and see if my opinion changes.
Daredevil fills in some of the holes in the weaker theif design that came with the specialization patch by adding options that should have been addressed better through core specializations or the weapon kits themselves.
However, I’ve found that when situationally utilized and played well, it’s beneficial to run Daredevil in new pve content for increased mobility and survivability especially in the open-world raid content. I’m still finding the staff slightly underwhelming compared to other weapon setups though.
I’m having the same issue :/
LFG tool won’t let me join groups, and the join buttons have been grayed out. The tool claims I’ve joined too many groups recently, however, I’ve only joined 2 groups over the past 40 minutes or so: one group for a TA up full clear, and one for a TA forward full clear.
When I open the LFG tool, the join buttons will display normally, but when I attempt to join them, I’m not actually added into the group, the join button becomes gray again, and when I mouseover a group, the tool claims i’ve joined too many groups again. It’s been doing this to me on and off for the past few hours, so when it’s occurring, I’ve to ask guildies to join, and then invite me into the groups manually.

CoF P2: After failing Magg’s bomb collection event, you can interact with him once more to restart the event, but you cannot interact with him to turn in the bombs. Due to this, the event will fail a second time, however, he will not have any interaction available to make any further attempts.
In the specific run that this bug occurred, a pug in the group died during the event, and logged to their character screen to make it easier for us to pickup the bomb under their dead body. They reentered the dungeon while we were still attempting to finish the event, so I’m not sure if that had anything to do with the bug.
- would like to see skill 4 getting a short duration smoke screen, that block projectiles and is a combo field, so you can stealth yourself at least one time.
I had a similar thought after playtesting; including its current functionality, staff 4 also drops a 2s smoke field that can be quickly combo leaped through for a short stealth. I’m still on the fence as to whether it should be a smoke screen or a simple smoke field though.
Overall, much of what I had issues with has already been mentioned, but just to add my 2 cents:
- Some staff animations need to be unique and not reused animations that exist elsewhere in the game.
- GM dodges and staff animations need more fluidity.
- Elite uses the character’s selected finisher when stomping.
- Baseline: pistol 1 should peirce ( ° 3 °)
- Questionable change: add a leap finisher to the unhindered combatant dodge, and maybe make bounding dodger act as a blast finisher.
(edited by Six.8051)
when you finish someone using this elite, does it use that basic flag, or will it use your selected finisher?
while farming in the Silverwastes, i just tried to use Infiltrator’s Strike on a boar that was within the skill’s activation range, on flat ground, and right in front of me without any rock/ground obstructions, and still received the “No Valid Path” message.
it’s definitely an issue that i hope is remedied sooner rather than later. various skills, traits effects, and utilities that were used in clutch situations, both defensively and offensively, now fail to work due to this new pathing implementation.
in some cases, the pathing issue has lead to my character’s death by not being able port away on flat ground, around small rocks, over floor traps in dungeons like cliffside fractal, onto some stairs (uneven ground), and even right next to my original location (less than 150 range). also, i’ve encountered the issue in too many areas of the game to report every single instance it has occurred which is why i feel it’s an issue that warrants more development tweaks.
noticed this as well
can’t wait to see the video, and hopefully with ts3 recorded because everyone was losing their shiii once amber wurm was being burned to death with those 14 remaining seconds left.
I haven’t had issues with crashing while having supersample enabled until participating in the new Wurm event. I’ve participated in Teq, WvW, and other large raid environments without issue until now. The game runs fine during the Wurm event on native with everything maxed out (not receiving any noticeable fps drops).
I’m just wondering if it’s a hardware limitation with my rig that’s causing the issue, and if so, what hardware would I need to upgrade to continue running supersample during this event? (I’m assuming it’s because I don’t have enough memory to render everything)

it mostly occurs whenever i’m spamming interact and running or being interrupted/knocked back when attempting to pick up a bundle, banner, conjured weapon, stomping a player, or rezzing a dead/downed player or npc.
i’ve been able to recreate it a few times in Maw fractal when spamming to pick up a reflect crystal when i get knocked down or i’m running past it and get out of range for actually picking up the reflect crystal.
using an item in your inventory that creates a bundle or changes your skill bar (like musical instruments, spiky fruit, etc.), being downed, or sometimes swapping in a new weapon from your inventory will fix the issue.

agreed. needs a pvp locker slot.
i’ve been experiencing skill lag recently. seems to have occurred shortly after the start of the new wvw season. all abilities activate about 1-2 seconds after pressing the key.
i’ve been having this issue for the past 2 days. input lag of about 1-2 seconds. dodge rolling is near impossible to time properly. sometimes it clears up depending on the map. many people in my guild have been complaining of the same issue as well.
no other programs that utilize the internet are lagging; just gw2, and it only seems it’s only skill lag, and not overall game lag since i can still see what’s happening, it’s just the activation time between when i hit the key, and the skill fires off is lagged by 1-2 seconds. it’s most noticeable with dodging.
definitely hating this change.
Anet! Y u no add new underwater weapons to the “-of Dreams” Aetherized Nightmare weapon set?
4 hours so far, and still no sign of teq. official response regarding the matter would be nice.
having same issue with the white box around players for awhile now while they are using the conjured ele hammer or wielding Mjolnir.
yeah, been having issues with the search function… mainly that it doesn’t work whatsoever.
a guild member told me that every time they’ve done turret defense duty, they didn’t get the bonus dragon chests, and that’s exactly what i was doing.
that person said from what they noticed, if you only kill fingers and fight the adds on the side without participating in the defending the battery/megalaser events, you won’t get the 25% credit chests.
same thing happened to me just now. i only received my daily bonus chest, and the large dragon chest, but i did not receive the extra chests for every 25% despite defending turrets and contributing from the start of the fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fRpNjRsO14&t=83

I’d prefer if there wasn’t a message window after receiving the benefit/boons from the banners we currently have, and instead, they released a separate unlockable banner for guilds that could be used for custom messages like recruitment or organizing public events. This new custom message banner could also be visibly different or unique from the banner models we have already.
Primary: Hammer
Secondary: Greatsword
Support/Tagging Mobs: Staff
Ranged: Scepter/Focus
gear: zerker/knights/ptv combo
runes: 2x monk/water/travelers
build: 0/0/30/30/10 — AH/shouts/EmpMight/Ret
sigils: strength primary/battle secondary
weapon: hammer/gs
second screenshot is with shouts active since i run boon duration for the stat increase uptime. with emp might and the sigils, i can usually keep about 10-12 stacks of might on myself which definitely helps increase my power to roughly 3389-3459 during fights. also, each application of might and other boons heals decently with AH as well, so there’s enough survivability to eat some damage if needed.
(edited by Six.8051)
i second this. currently, i have very little interest in the lore outside of woodenpotatoes videos because i have to actively search for the little tidbits of lore outside of game instead of inside of it. i think your idea would help bring it all together.
Initially, I was excited for fractals, the idea behind them sounded so appealing. Finally! there was something in GW2 that felt somewhat challenging! I pounded through them religiously for the first few weeks to get to fractal 40 only to find myself with over 400+ fractals completed, 2 bank tabs filled with infused rings I didn’t need and eventually sold for the crappy 4s they are worth, and yet I still only saw 3 fractal weapons ever: 2 harpoons and 1 rifle… on a guardian -_- thanks Anet…
I gave up. RNG to that extent is not the proper way to implement a reward system for a dungeon that had so much potential to survive in the long run.
At this point, I’m not sure if praying to the Gods will help revamp the rewards system for fractals, but something needs to change before they add more maps into it. If not, I’ll run ‘em once for the new story content, and quickly leave them to rot again once I’m done.
Sincerely,
- A disappointed fractal farmer retiree

All we want is the animation. This “bug” is potentially one of the best updates you could have made for minis. Don’t take it away.
agreed!
That applies to 16 year olds living at their parents. Most people, like me, have plenty of fixed costs every month and ‘saving for a month or two’ is kitten near impossible. Please get your head out of your kitten .
I’m a bill collector, so I understand what you’re saying, but I can still pull a quick $500 out of the blue if needed. It’s called savings, financial stability, making intelligent decisions in life and with daily expenses, and it’s proof that hard work pays off. The people I deal with on a daily basis are mostly people with fixed incomes and collect some form of government assistance, and yet the majority of them can afford decent cars, houses, and clothing while supporting whatever addiction that some of them have whether it shopping, gambling, gaming, drugs and alcohol. With proper money management, even a dead beat can save up some money; the difference is where they end up spending it. if a 16 year old or scum bag could do it, so could you.
(edited by Six.8051)
in the open world it would just slow everyone’s computer down.
there are ways anet could work around that to avoid causing framerate or lag issues for players by implementing display options for minis or simply adding some form of culling for them.
on a side note: people that complain about terrible lag, and they’re running the game on some old, low-budget laptop using the on-board Intel HD 3000 graphics. get a paper route or pizza delivery job, save for a month or two, and buy a decent desktop. decent mid-range desktops run for about $500-700 nowadays.

I definitely agree that they should make minis combat functional, however, I could see the issues if they did damage or accepted boons, so I’d be completely fine if their attacks were purely cosmetic.
I’ve been slowly collecting minis since launch, and the most fun I had with any of them was during the short period the new exotics were attacking mobs with me.
Having the minis fighting along side of me gave them character and a sense of purpose other than “hey everyone, look at this useless little thing that can barely keep up with me”, and it made me happy to buy more of them to see their various attacks.
I’m sure the BLTP mini market would boom, the gem store would see a increase in mini pack purchases, and more players would enjoy taking the time to find the mini that has the attacks and appearance that they enjoy most which would provide a “mini” sense of companionship in the game during solo or small group gameplay.
- options could be implemented to make minipet use easier much like the finishers pane. implement a way to dedicate a mini for account-wide use, then allow players to select a default mini.
- provide display options for whether the minis are always shown, in towns only, or in combat.
- provide options for people who don’t want to see them like personal only, groups only, show all, or maybe even provide culling options so you can only see a certain number of minis in a given radius around your character.
there is so much that can be done with the miniature system, and it just seems like such an untapped resource of enjoyment at this point.

More info here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1ksrux/new_exotic_minis_have_their_own_nameplate/
While I originally thought it was intentional, I wish Anet would allow these minis to fight alongside the player, but take and deal no damage. Behavior like that would actually make it worth the investment of buying these minis.
Also, since we are on the topic of miniatures, are players going to see an update to the mini system in 2013?
The current system is clunky, and I think improving it would add more value to collecting and using minis. It’s silly and irritating having to click-activate them through the inventory window, keep them in an invisible bag to avoid depositing it in the collectables tab, and having to reactivate whenever I change zones, die, or go into water (for those minis that can’t swim).

got 8 orbs yesterday after about 9 attempts. used same build as before:
0/0/30/30/10 (ah/emp might/shouts/retaliation)
zerker/knights/ptv combo
save yourselves/hold the line/retreat/renewed focus
staff (strength sigil)/gs (energy sigil)
boon duration runes
it definitely helps to use both Bowls of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew and Potent Superior Sharpening Stones:

this video helps if you don’t already know the shadowfall patterns:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCpMhc9Hb-8
Used Staff’s Line of Warding to obstruct adds or GS5 to pull adds away for shard pickup. Also, I used GS 5 to pull multiple adds into the lightwells at the same time.
Empowering Might + Strength sigil + Altruistic Healing provides ample healing from might stacks especially coupled with protection and regeneration from shouts. I was able to maintain about 8-12 stacks from Staff’s autoattack on the adds during phase 2 which helped DPS with this build because I had 2 attempts where I ran out of time.
The attempt I killed her, I had about 18 seconds left before the floor would have dropped.

I approve! While they are at it, I’d like the flames on Foefire weapons to look as crazy as the blue flames on the new Cobalt greatsword.
finished it after about 10 different attempts with various weapons, and this was how i was able to finally get the achievement on my guardian.
weapon: sword/shield (keep up most of the time) and focus (last resort)
utility: shield of the avenger (must have), “hold the line!” (helped a lot)
gear: zerker/knights (boon duration runes)
build: 0/20/30/10/10 for sword damage, AH, shouts recharge, and spirit weapon uptime
tip: don’t use anything that grants retaliation or reflection. only use projectile absorption abilities.
1. cause the boss to drift/nudge itself around the room by stepping into the front of the enemy hitbox and angle your character to direct the boss’s movement. doing so will leave the new oozes behind you, so you are free to autoattack the crap out of the big guy.
2. use shield 5 to push the boss away from large groups of oozes while giving you some time to soak up damage if your health falls low. use focus 5 while shield is on CD for the extra blocks if you are about to be downed.
3. use consumables like food and other stuff to give you that extra bit you might need if you are still struggling.

Killed her on my Guardian, and while I was excited to finally put Liadri down and move on with my life, I was somewhat disappointed with the achievement reward: a mini pet version of her.
I remember watching an interview where Colin mentioned their thoughts behind making the Gauntlet Arena a place where players can show off their skill and earn prestige amongst their peers. Since I don’t have time to find the exact transcript, I’ll just use this tidbit from an earlier post:
ColinJohanson.2394:We’ll continue to offer cosmetic rewards such as titles, medals (such as map completion), unique skins, etc., which will remain prizes earned for completing specific parts of the game. These will show off the prestige of your character…
While the minipet was nice for defeating her, why not offer a title to more easily show your skill and prestige? I have several titles that show I can do a ton of other semi-worthless achievements that required little-to-no skill, but defeating one of the more difficult bosses gives — well — something that probably won’t get much use after today.
The mini pet system for is poorly implemented, and definitely not the best way to show your accomplishments for content such as this. Hell, it practically requires you to invest in an invisible bag to stop yourself from accidentally depositing the mini in your collectables tab.
Anyhow, Colin, ol’ buddy-ol’ pal! can we get some titles for this challenging content?!

0/0/30/30/10 (ah/emp might/shouts/retaliation)
zerker/knights combo
save yourselves/hold the line/retreat/renewed focus
staff (strength sigil)/gs (energy sigil)
boon duration runes
basically, i just equipped staff the majority of the time, kept swiftness up, and spammed autoattack on her, the adds and the gravity wells. the silly “0” crits helped to heal myself from emp might and strength sigil while providing some vigor. after about 11 attempts, i was able to find a way to consistently push her into p2 before her 5th shadowcrash; for me, it helped to stay near the middle in the beginning, then move to the outside after she lays down her 3rd crash, then move back inside to catch her on the 5th crash with the 3rd light shard.
in p2, i just ran along the outside edge and kept my eye out for gravity wells to drop my symbol of swiftness under because effffff those things. if i got caught in a sticky situation without a dodge, i’d swap to GS and use the dodge from the energy sigil and then leap of faith out of danger.
also, to improve visibility, turn most of your graphic settings down, and especially turn off post-processing effects.
Me and my guildies did this dungeon path earlier today, we tried:
1. having 2-3 guardians using wall of reflection and sanctuary (spiders ignored both)
2. hitting the boss from a range (aggroed the entire room as soon as we made contact with the boss)
3.Killing all the spiders (killed about 6 entire rooms full before deciding that they simply spawned endlessly)None of which worked. The only way we could complete it is by having everyone circle strafe the boss while using some form of maintainable speed boost. If you do this, even if it’s only a 15% boost, you can out run the spiders’ attacks and focus on the boss.
Whoru? 2-3 guardians and you couldn’t pull this off?
- Stand in melee range
- Chain wall of reflection
- Stand inside the wall
- Profit
Yeah we did stand inside it, the projectiles still hit us.
this! we brought 4 guardians using WoR, SoA and Sanctuary, but the spiders ignored everything while standing in a clusterkitten of projectile reflection/absorption utilities. the way we did it was by running circles with swiftness and ranged the boss down, but it took a few attempts to get it done. Anet needs to go back to the drawing board when it comes to this encounter’s design.
(edited by Six.8051)
i also had this issue. d/ced towards the end of the fight, but by the time i got inside again the boss was dead. got credit for the kill, but i can’t get past this effin’ final barrier. such irritating design as to not add a WP at the end or make the final barriers disabled after encounter finishes.
A friend introduced me to a hack’n’slash “action combat” game called Vindictus before GW2 went into beta, and I remember boss fights being far more engaging than any content in GW2. Unfortunately, when I saw previews of GW2’s boss combat prior to release, I figured the fights would be more dynamic and challenging than Vindictus, but I was wrong. However, I think some of the elements that make Vind’s fights more engaging can help with GW2’s pve encounters:
- requires proper dodge timing for 1-shot boss abilities and group coordination to keep everyone alive during the encounter
- bosses have random attack patterns occasionally throughout the fight
- some have a secondary element required to defeat the bosses: throwing spears to slow rampaging bosses, using catapults to stun or stop boss healing/damaging abilities, shooting large harpoon ballistas to pull flying bosses to the ground to attack.
- multiple phase fights that sometimes increase the difficulty as the phases progress
- some bosses could have their armor broken off by targeting a specific area of their body for extra loot drops and achievements unique to that boss
Anyhow, I see a lot of great suggestions on here, and If Anet can make more fights like the Aetherblade living story dungeon, I think PvE bosses/encounters would be much better for it.
(edited by Six.8051)
yeah, but leave it that way for the NPCs, and provide me with the ability to make my character’s dye scheme my choice… you know… the point of the dye system -_-

well, if you check reddit, they have the unconfirmed/unofficial leak of the upcoming changes that seem in-line with what little info anet has mentioned so far. if those leaked notes are correct, there isn’t anything to really get excited about for guardians.
this just happened to me twice in the same dungeon run: my weapon swap icon was grayed out & keybinding for weapon swap didn’t work. i had to open my Hero window, and manually click the swap icon to make it work again.
the first time it happened, i wasn’t paying attention to what caused it, so i searched the bug forums and saw Saulius’s post. however, the second time it occurred, i was able to confirm that weapon swapping right as a cutscene began caused it to bug out again.

Every time someone comes along and tries to complete the event everyone screams at him/her. It wouldn’t be so bad that players farm an event, but when someone comes along who is trying to win at it, he/she gets trolled hard. Kinda defeats the purpose of the game.
this is the issue i was having on my server: harassment for trying to complete the event.
with the new api info being released, the world event trackers are awesomely precise now, and i noticed lyssa was up, so i took a stroll out there to see if it was being done.
as i ran up to do the lyssa event, i threw up a commander tag because there were a lot of people talking in map chat, but the event didn’t look like it was being completed… within a few seconds, i’m being spammed with vulgar, undeserved whispers from tons of players telling me to screw off because i’m ruining their farm.
i tried completing the event, but once i showed up, everyone quit attacking the mobs, and since there were about 20-30 mobs spawned in the area due to player-event scaling, it was too challenging especially with people trying to drag enemy mobs from nearby into my aoe to give me aggro before stealthing.
i figured if these farmers treat everyone who legitimately wants to complete the event in this manner, then nobody is going to want to actually complete it unless they intentionally want to attempt to tick off the mob of farmers with a group of friends.
eventually, i just gave up and logged off for the night because it was the only event up at the moment, and i don’t care to guest around various servers to get a boss chest when i see an ample number of people standing at the event while NOT trying to complete it on my home server.
you nerf the farm you will never get the temple completed because everyone will leave. Lyssa takes like 15 minutes to kill, spawns tons of mobs that drop 0 loot and one shot you. No one in their right mind would ever try and complete that event.
Heck even if by some miracle you complete the event, the champions who one shot don’t despawn and one shot the karma vendor and everyone else in the area. So even if you do unlock it you won’t be able to make it to the vendor in time before it and everyone else is dead.
overall, the lyssa fight is somewhat of a pain, however, it wasn’t so difficult that it couldn’t be completed with a group of 10-15 people despite the increase in mob health or damage. just last week, i think i completed the event twice when kitten farmers hadn’t really been using this lame farming method on my server yet. now that they have, there are literally about 30-50 people stacked there at all times of the day, and i guarantee that at least a few of them are botting to some extent.
