Is the influence needed a bug aswell ?
Small guilds can never reach that amount unless it’s based on percentage of the guild members.

Like half a year ago, if I remember it correctly I have been very rude on several forum threads.

I would like to give a sincere apology to Arenanet and all the forum readers.
Sometimes when you are in the wrong you need to have the guts to admit it.

Arenanet is not only telling but proving that they listen to the community, that they have the means to do all they can to make this game as enjoyable as possible.

Thank you for that !

You can put the blame on me.

PvP is based on Wins/Losses, while it should be more based on kills/deaths…
Now you can’t pug anymore because in pug group people leave all the time anyway.

Plus if it doesn’t reset, weekly/monthly then a new player will never be able to get in the list anyway.

Now I just fear that they will “fix” it for 3 days and reverse it again because it was not as intented.
I’ve played some other mmorpgs but this one is by far the hardest to gain some loot. Not impossible, no; but the time you spend to receive some loot is just absolutly nonsense.

I get the fact that they have a cash shop, but if they just add some decent items in the cash shop that people actually want to buy (think about the BL keys, who buys that?) than the ingame drops could be something totally seperated. Which in my opinion would be the correct way to handle things, just like it was in GW1.

Hardmode

Skugga.5298

In Guild Wars 1 you were able to select hardmode, so I was wondering if you could add it into Guild Wars 2 aswell.

Just a simple suggestion would be to complete your story and after that you get an item? that gives you a hard mode buff, it could for example decrease your armor and damage and on top of that you get a high magic find boost to make hard mode worth while and fun ?

Or the option to get several of these buffs with a degree of how hard mobs become or how weak you become and the harder stuff gets the more magic find you get ?

Just an idea, seems like fun to me

I don’t get why after two days they still didn’t say anything, people would like to hear a reaction, what are you thinking a-net ? That’s all we’d like to know.

As what I think is that they should change the influence immediatly and just base it on percentage of the total members in the guild.

Since this patch I don’t feel any real enjoyment from the game anymore, I log in do a daily and then I start to think “why should I even play? What’s the point when they will just nerf this and/or that for the worse.” Every game company is going through this time after time after time !

They get people excited, make them happy, people get settled and like how things are but then for an unknown reason they have to bring out patches that changes everything for the worse.

Ok, I admit I might be over-reacting just a bit, but come on be realistic,…

I followed this game 3 years before release on a weekly basis I was waiting for news, looking up certain things etc, I played all the betas. After all this patches I was still happy, but now this, guild missions that take an insane amount of time to unlock.

This patch made me really frustrated and it shows, I have been posting several “troll” posts out of anger, I’m less friendly ingame. Because this is starting to feel like WoW. Where everyone is against everyone and people with the biggest guilds get all the perks and just steal all your members away because you can’t offer anything, even though you play the hell out of this game you couldn’t make a diffirence !

And all you want to do and have at the end of the day is a friendly guild that helps eachother and enjoys to play content together, is that so bad ?

Really ? Is that so bad?

Skugga.5298

Before release and manifesto:

I truly believe that before Gw2 was released it showed a lot of promise and had a lot to live up to after Gw1. I still remember when I first logged into Guild Wars 1, the game was fun and I only could think of 2 negative sides of the game: not able to jump and not an open world.
Other than that the game was almost perfect and that’s why I got hyped for guild wars 2 when I first saw the manifesto and heard “guild wars 2 takes everything you love about guild wars 1 and puts it into a persistant world, it’s got more active combat a fully branching personalized story line a new event system to get people playing together, and still no monthly fees.”
This manifesto blew my mind and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on GW2 !

Release:
When Guild Wars 2 got released, not everything went as smooth as I expected, hours of not being able to log in, disconnects , bugs and what not..
To be honest I didn’t mind, I was so glad I could finally play the game (and I started out on my laptop with massive fps lagg). After that I bought a new PC, just to play this game in full glory.

A few months in:
a)Skills

After a month of playing GW2, I started to think about a few things. “Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1”. The only thing I really loved about Guild Wars 1 was the massive amount of skills to your disposal and every day you had a chance to try out something new. I had lots of fun just trying out the weirdest builds ever.

b)pvp

Furthermore, I loved the GW1 pvp, it felt balanced and it gave me the feeling that only truly skilled players would be able to get to the top. With ‘skilled’ I mainly mean veteran players who knew what every skill did and in what way they should counter, etc.
First time I played the GW2 pvp I felt disappointed, I really didn’t enjoy the base capturing at all. For me PvP means kill or get killed. But if you are able to make troll builds with massive amounts of armor, health and healing and all you have to do is ignore every player and stand at a base to keep it then I don’t count that as pvp. Of course a lot of people won’t agree and will tell us that PvP has a lot more going on, but after all the hot joins and tournaments I’ve played I can’t agree with that.
Tournaments is another thing that got me disappointed, the score that is listed on the website is based because of wins / losses, this score is not telling me anything about my personal skill level, it is telling me don’t join pugs or you will never get to the top. It is a team score.

c) end game

End game can mean many things, for me end game means.. stuff to do before you get bored. Either it is raiding, dungeons, gathering achievements,…
So I started asking myself the question, what is the point of leveling in GW2 ? Levels don’t make you a whole lot stronger (not that I think that is bad) but what do levels mean in this game ?
There is nothing waiting for you at max level and of course people will say that gear progression is not end game in other games, but in my opinion with gear progression you have at least something to do, you have a goal. Once you hit 80 in GW2 all you can do is try your luck to get a precursor and build a legendary, it looks nice indeed but imo a lot of the store weapons looked better.
Guild missions: when this feature got announced I got happy. I thought, finally ! Something to do with our guild. Then I realized that the influence was only focused on big guilds. Why is the influence needed to unlock something not based on the guild member size ? Why should a guild with more people get more fun ? We’ve all paid the same amount of money for this game,.. which brings me to no monthly fees.

d) No monthly fees !

I was amazed when I heard that one, until I realized what it really meant.
No monthly fees is by no doubt great, but if you want to play this mmo like any other mmo then we all know that no monthly fees is nothing but a lie. In other games you might pay 10 euro every month but you get everything the game has to offer in game. No need to unlock more character slots, more bank space, bag space, pvp server time, etc.. If you want to play this game the same way you have played another mmo you will need to cough up a lot more money than a monthly fee !
I also read how a lot of people wanted to buy RNG chests just to support the game, but those people got slapped in the face for not getting what they wanted. Why should one person pay more for an item than someone else ?
In other Mmorpg’s you have a monthly fee but you get also a lot in return, more character slots, a lot more bank and bag space , 24/7 Support !! , deleted an item/character by accident ? No problem it gets restored, bought the wrong item again no problem it gets restored. Heck, are you not happy about something, they will listen.

Really bummed with the guild update...

c) Updates

I think it’s very positive that arena net wants to update every two weeks. But all in all, what do these updates mean ? Living story is just the same as adding a few new quests (and since you don’t have quests in this game but hearts it also means you have a lot less to do than in another traditional mmo). New store items every two weeks, you don’t pay monthly indeed but every time you open up your trading post you get advertisement thrown at you trying to hypnotize you in buying it. (pvp server, pvp server time, gathering tools with no charges, bag slots, character slots, etc..)
Then people will react, nobody tells you that you need to buy it, true !
But in other mmos I do get a lot more for a lot less. Then you also have the feature to trade gold into gems all fine and cool but wonder why so many people complain about not getting any loot or gold ? It’s all due to this feature. Plus in GW2 there is only 1 thing you can do to get some “decent” amount of gold and that is farming COF P1 over and over and over again. I swung a sword, hey I swung it again. That’s great .. but I still didn’t get my loot.
_"This game is not about loot" , “Lol, you play for loot?”
. LOOT is a BIG part of MMOS that’s what makes it fun for me ! If I don’t want to be rewarded for playing I would play a first person shooter something else.
But if it’s a game that can give you loot but just does not want to give it to you and create the illusion that you are getting rewarded then the fun is over.

d) Conclusion/Disclaimer

This review is written by my *PERSONAL opinion, I am trying to give CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, you do not have to agree, I RESPECT your opinion as well ! If you love this game than that’s great ! Guild Wars 2 has a lot of positive sides as well ! But giving feedback about positive things will not encourage anyone for change. I do not hate this game, but I also don’t see it as the next gen mmo.
I recently moved back to my old mmo which I still love, and love to pay for.

The tragedy of Orr

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Skugga.5298

This post was a good read and sure made me laugh.
I can agree with almost every point except that I don’t think Orr is beautiful, the map is good but but 3 maps filled with risen sure make it boring. I rather go farm in karka land instead just to see another creature at level 80. Sure we can go back in the world to some lower level content but what’s the point if you don’t get level appropriate drops and materials,…

It’s not just risen that makes the place so terrible but also the skills of the risen, every time you get get crippled, knocked down. If you want to be friendly and revive someone you get tons of risen on you just after you slayed them and reviving is important in this area because every waypoint as pointed out by you is contested time after time.

In my opinion they could have just aswell added trolls with some troll themed music in Orr.

My opinion about what things should change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Skugga.5298

Skugga.5298

I tried to find to some negative aspects of your thread but I can only agree with every single letter you wrote !!

I followed this game for 3 years, waiting patciently for it to be released… bought a new computer because I couldn’t play it on my laptop !

But I quit the game, mainly because my full guild, around 85 members left,…
And I guess the only reason why I got stuck for such a long time with the game is because of the guild, I wanted to build a good community but in the end a guild is just pointless since you have no challenging content to do.

Yes you have the guild challenges, which is also something I was looking forward to but for some reason this system is focused on big guilds. While all the events scale, the guild system does not scale and neither does the influence cost of everything.

All I wanted was hard guild challenges that you could play as much as you wanted to and with how many you wanted to.

I don’t get why they lock content like that, just like the RNG stuff, only a few may experience it. WHY ???

This goes also for the loot, WHERE THE HELL IS MY LOOT ? People who have played Mmo’s know , if I kill this creature I will get something,..
For some reason in GW2 they don’t want to reward you.
You can’t farm in the open world because of DMR and also because creatures run away after walking a few seconds.

I remember in the beginning while farming Orr events, in an hour I had 10 rares… now that seemed like normal loot for the time played.
And now the only way to get some gold is still COF1, like I want to login everyday and play COF1 for 8 hours straight for a month to get a legendary or something else that is somewhat nice to look at.

You can’t teleport because in the back of your mind you think that it costs too much.
You can’t buy potions and foodbuffs for this same reason.

I’ve gave the game time to change, fix bugs, add new content etc… but for example, if I really enjoy dragonball and I know I’m forced to play it NOW for a month and then it will be gone, then why even bother. I want to login and know what I can do instead of the game “telling” me what to do.

“Want some fun?” → do temporary this or that.
“Want rewards?” → Daily this and monthly that.
“Want to do a dungeon?” → Play dungeon X a thousand times, fun fun fun.
“Want some gold?” → Farm COF1 until you puke.
“Want to support the game for further development ?” → Let them F you over with RNG chests.
“Want a legendary?” → Throw months of gametime away in the mystic toilet and pray to God you get what you want so you never have to go through the whole process again.

“We are building a game for the players” , Correction you are building a game for profit, there is no harm in that but those are facts I’d like to know before buying a game, indeed no monthly fees but I wonder how many players paid 10x more for less you can get in WoW. I’ve read that some people spend over 500 dollars in the store, think at how many months that is in WoW and what loot, mounts, etc you can get in Wow or any other MMORPG. You are concidered lucky if you get 1 skin for 500 dollars worth of RNG chests.

For real,… Stop treating customers like kittens. I know a lot of people who were just nice enough to buy useless items from the store to SUPPORT the game but all you do is spit in their faces.

Did we all forget that we can be part of multiple guilds at a time? Rep one guild for loot per week then switch back to farm for your small guild until you unlock the content.

This isn’t rocket science, use the tools the game provides.

The game also provides tools for determining who in a guild is not representing. Oh, and there’s this other tool for kicking players from guilds. When used in conjunction, it means leechers beware.

What do you think the odds are that large guilds are going to be paying particular attention to their guild rosters over the next few weeks and implementing a policy of no moonlighting in other guilds? Pretty high, I’d say.

Best o’ luck.

Yeah, because it’s impossible to have friends in the two guilds you’re part of, right?

This game has tools indeed to swich guild and “help” the other guild , while it’s mainly for personal gain, plus.. why should a bigger guild get more advantage than a smaller guild ?

10 people is a very good size for a Tier 1 bounty mission.

<facepalm> so no thought about the small 2-5 man guild? It seems that the better game content is now exclusively for huge Zerg Guilds. My guild currently has 3 active members and we will not have a chance to play this premium part of the game until after the servers are turned off. And no, we are not buying gems to pay for influence to get the good stuff. <facepalm, laugh, shakes head>

and what about 1 man guild, we can continue to go down numbers like this. 10 active members is good number for this.
with this mentality everything will be done for solo group player, o wait this is already the case for 90% of the game: dungeons, fractals, spvp, group event. only wvw is for large guild and was pvp. now they add pve for large group this is fair and square.

you are pretty selfish only thinking about your small scale guild, big guild wish to have fun in large group too and not only in wvw. Not everything should be designed for group size event. SHARE THE CAKE WITH OTHER, IF YOU CANNOT YOU ARE SELFISH

You are defending the big guilds, agree not a single guild should be left out. But this does make you selfish aswell.

I stated this before in this thread the influence should be based on the size of the guild.

There you have a fix.

I also have a Warrior (leveled this one up back in the day when you could farm COF P1 and back then you went with 4 warriors and 1 mesmer or just 5 warriors).

My first character was actually a thief, and I still love to play my thief a lot more, but while playing my thief I also notice how warriors feel a bit over the top.
Just because I like to play diffirent professions I would love to see all the other professions come to the same level as a warrior or the warrior comes down the same level as the other professions, for me either way would be perfect.

It does feel like the warrior has it all , can deal a lot of damage, doesn’t feel squishy at all, can heal with shouts, even ignore damage for 4 seconds and the best part is speed, while exploring, leveling or just dungeon runs for me speed is everything, I always liked the characters with a speed boost. Just because of the lack of a decent speed boost on mesmer I haven’t leveled one yet.

Tldr; Warrior stands out a bit more compared to other professions, would love to see all professions balanced.

“But what if my guild is super small?” you may say? Not to worry—all these missions take place in the persistent world, which gives you the ability to rally people from the surrounding countryside and maybe make some new friends in the process!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/leah-rivera-on-new-guild-missions/

Guild Content – Read more about Guild Content updates in the recent blog post.
New guild upgrades are available.
The guild mission system has been implemented and includes the ability to earn merits.
Added new Guild Bounty, Guild Trek, Guild Rush, Guild Challenge, and Guild Puzzle mission types.
Added new personal rewards for participating in guild missions. These rewards can be purchased with commendations.
Banner art on existing guild upgrades has been updated.

Even a solo player can take part in these missions. They just don’t receive merits and commendations.

You first need to able to unlock the missions. aka +30.000 influence

you don’t have to unlock anything. You just need to be in the area of some other guilds mission.

Seriously I’m not going to lower myself anymore down to your level, you should do some reading before posting. If you have your own guild and you would like to get your own guild going you do need to unlock these things. Why do you think everyone in this thread is complaining ?
