Thats a very good idea dude, I totally agree. Although the scepter has very good damage. its A. not very reliable (symbol based and orbs can easily be evaded) and B. just doesnt feel like a good weapon to use imo

When you place Shadow Flare behind you and then swap positions with the orb, it creates a crippling area that your opponent has to go through to get to you while you’re sniping from afar. I feel like cripple really would add another layer to the skill

Not to mention, it also keep enemies within the orb/forces a dodge roll out

also side note, i think yall should add the ammunition mechanic to Mercy or reduce the CD a bit

Defensive boon? Retaliation doesn’t provide any defense, its entirely offensive and basically a power version of a condition in the form of a boon.

although it doesnt directly provide any defensive benefits, it does seem defensive in nature

It makes sense as a defensive boon. Barrier scales with Vitality so why not let Retaliation damage with Toughness now? Retaliation is also just more common on Heavy armor classes anyway so it makes sense.

We have healers now, so lets add some “tanks” to the game. Thoughts?

I’m not (ahem) holding my breath. Revenant still only has one underwater weapon and only two underwater legends. Most other profs have very, very limited options for utilities, especially elites. And all sorts of traits are wasted underwater.

Plus, “breathers” continue to be a waste of resources. I’ve been waiting since before launch for breathers to become skins, with the stats & rune taken from the helm.

Make aegis give a shield of % (let’s say 10%) amount of guardian’s max health. So have 20k hp would give a guardian 2k shield every 30 seconds or whatever. If the shield gets to 1k, it will be back to 2k when aegis refreshes.

Since anet will not make a radical redesign, we will have to work with what we have.

Pistol has the right idea, but 2 skills need tweaking, 1 and 2.

Skills 1 is okay except for the very low damage coefficients for power and give the bleed at least an extra second or two of duration. I get it that this weapon is supposed to be a hybrid for P/P and P/D but it just isn’t that good for either.

Skill 2 needs its imob to be increase by a half second more and the vuln needs to increase to at least 5 seconds.

Any good Hammer builds without DH?

its not hard to make money. but it is hard to make a lot of money. for example, you can easily deck your character out in full exotic (except for super expensive stat sets) but beyond that is harder. full ascended? 800g+ for a set. legendary? 2k+

OP, are you hitting the boss a lot? Because hour DPS doesn’t matter that much per se, you just have to be hitting the boss a lot. Do basically, when you’re not healing, do damage.

Dragon’s maw creates a barrier around you so you can’t just evade out. I think you can shadow step out though.

Actually, I kept pugging and slowly got a team of random people. It consists of 2 warriors, a rev, an ele, and a guard. We won almost every match. Warriors are pretty good, they might need a few buffs here and there but overall, they’re fine.

Warriors are not good, they are godlike OP. They are so much OP that no single team in ESL rolled a warrior, because that was absolutely unfair to others.

There are things called metas, have you ever heard of them? Its like that in every game. Take League of Legends for example, you always see the same champs being played in high level play. That doesn’t mean that other ones aren’t good, it just means people have a hive-mind mentality and bandwagon on certain champs because others say they are good now. Even though, the champions never actually change, its just some people find hidden potential in them and say they’re good, snowballing into more and more people saying this champ is better than that now.

People are hating on thiefs and warriors so much because of this mentality. They are also hating on DHs because of this mentality. People are stupid.

Number 2 in my mind is the big one, it just feel like the algorithm must be off if you get 500 – 100.
Not sure about number 3 though.

I found it funny the #2 bow skill on DH is basically Kill Shot but doesn’t need adrenaline and is on a tiny cooldown…

This means EVERYONE can be D3. Yes, just play enough matches. HOWEVER not everyone can be D4+. The more you know?

Its especially hard to move up in leagues when you don’t get credit for like every fifth win because of horrid game breaking bugs.

Bugs will be fixed, this is irrelevant. Leagues JUST came out, balance and bug fixes are going to come.

Remove Cele amulet, it is cancerous.
_Take a look at followinng things:

  • Revenant damage (Unrelenting Assault), reevaluate Rev blocks and heals
  • Engineer Tool-kit block CD
  • Mesmer well’s CC.
  • DH Longbow #5, seriously too much CC potential.
  • DH traps, remove the daze and put the conditions applied into the trait and improve them.
  • Druid’s healing.

That’s dumb, as a DH I don’t want kittenty conditions on my traps. It’s useless for power builds.

depends on your build. for example, i am 99% of the time medi guard. the 2k heals do better with a low health pool than a higher one so i am zerker. but if youre not medi guard, i would probably go with maurader.

Khhhmm….. “i would try it but i dont have the amulet or the rune”, the build is in PvP made by you… are you even thinking what are you writing down here?! Or you want some other player to pay 5 gold to help your theory?
In PvP mode you need lots of dps, and good understanding of each profession you play: how to go in do massive dmg/support, how to get out dodge/escape from enemies.
The condi convert is good, but the trait build up never will work in PvP, you will get downed very fast by a Mesmer/DH/Reaper.
This is not a good support build, a DH with full traps/daze can be a better support for the team, and does massive dmg, in 2 sec the opponent is downed…
This build will help the opposite team, they will win the mach faster.

Since when was pvp all dps? And the build does decent aoe damage thanks to staff.

DH is fine, there are some way other overpowered specs. DH is very conditional with its traps. If they don’t work, you have no way to survive. Have you ever thought of practicing more?

Correct me if I’m wrong but, people keep on spouting nonsense about Revenant sword autos being the “strongest”. I mathed it out myself, giving each class the approrpriate damage traits and guardian hammer auto chain came out to be ~20% stronger than revenant sword auto chain (assuming ~5 boons on revenant and target that is crippled and burning). This is for single target only. I came out with:

Guardian: 2.65 p/s (no Spear of Justice), 2.92 p/s (with Spear of Justice), 2.73 (Spear of Justice used on cooldown)

Traits: Fiery Wrath (7% burning), Symbolic Power (10% to symbol damage, (turns the 2.5 power coefficient into 2.75)), Symbolic Avenger (10%), Writ of Persistence (+2 ticks, turns 1.5 power coefficient on last auto into 2.5), Zealot’s Aggression (10% crippled), Pure of Sight (7% at 0-600 distance), Big Game Hunter (10%, but with low uptime = 3% if used on cooldown).

Hammer has 10% more weapon damage than sword, so that’s the same as having a 10% damage trait on permanently.

Revenant: 2.22 p/s (5 boons), 2.01 p/s (>50% hp), 2.41 p/s (<50% hp)

Traits: Vicous Lacerations (10% after hitting 5 times), Targetted Destruction (7% vulnerable), Swift Termination (20% while under 50%, or pretty much 10%), Ferocious Aggression (7%), Elder’s Force (2% per boon, 10% if have 5 boons, good average I’d say).

Yes, revenants have a lot more group damage buffs, and a strong burst skill on sword 3, but they do NOT have the strongest autoattacks. Their autoattack is ~20% weaker than guardian hammer auto. Twenty, freaking, percent.

Sorry for all the math, I just got annoyed from constantly hearing how god kitten ed strong the revenant sword auto was.

Used power coefficients and autoattack sequence length from wiki.

Edit: I found what I was missing: reve gets the +20% crit chance trait, so with ~220% crit damage that would essentially be a 24% damage trait which would make that 2.22 become a 2.75. I’m slightly sad now.

no one doubts the hammer auto attack chain is strong, it just feels so kitteng awful to use it

add a functionality to hammer 4: if you banish a target into a wall (or a solid object), they take additional damage

make skill 5 usable while moving

My HoT experience has been nothing but grind. Just by “playing the game” you can not unlock masteries. You are forced to farm maps for EXP to unlock your masteries, and that is pretty much the only thing to do in HoT. Grind to unlock masteries. What do masteries do? Not much. Collections (more grind – but could be so much better) are unlocked after you get your masteries I guess…. What makes it worse is that you need to be completing meta events that are on 2-hour timers and require you to log in at the right time and be lucky enough to find an organized map of other players to complete. (Psst – this sounds like raids to me. All of HoT is pretty much raids.)

I think players need to not focus on HoT that much, its an expansion, not a campaign. I think HoT should be just something you do to get whatever you want out of it (skins, elite specs, achievements, raids, etc, etc) but core tyria needs to remain the main place to be.

This is arena net’s fault. They have 3 forms of end game:

sPvP
PvE
WvW

For spvp, they need to add even more game.modes and even more reasons to play it.

For pve, they seriously need to start doing living story soon (many people beat HoT and that risks pve-ers getting bored of pve)

Wvw. We all know wvw needs an overhaul. From rewards to they way they are played (encourage small group and solo play more). Also they seriously need to merge some servers. A lot of the time in wvw, it can be pretty empty.

Anet failed to capitalize on these things. Players thought HoT was the answer, especially since they are nearly paying a full games price (when HoT doesn’t have a full games content). They though HoT would provide everything they wanted. Anet is making steps in the right direction, but still have some ways to go. (Though I do understand living story will continue soon enough)

i agree with this. legendary is expensive as hell and you should be able to freely customize it. i also think they should apply your idea for stat sets. if im correct, you can basically have access to a plethora of stat sets for free? i think you should have to unlock it first then have it accessible for free after that.

maybe you have to use the mystic forge with the inscription and the legendary piece to apply the stat option to your equipment

Same with Runes as well would be awesome. Give a feeling of not just making your Legendary armor, but upgrading it too. Like in some games, you really wanna unlock that one gun, then ya do. Awesome! Now to get those upgrades for it. I personally like that kinda style.

Yeah, it gives another way to have progression. I think legendaries are supposed to be good in the long run. Like yeah, it will take a lot of gold to get there but in the end, your character would be decked out with so many customization options that you can just change on the fly.

This sort of thread has come up time and time again. I’d recommend googling similar topics and having a quick flick through them.

Here’s a quick summary of why your suggestion can’t/won’t happen:

-New outfits appear often and are cheap because they are fast to design as they are one solid piece (apart from headpiece). Your suggestion would mean that the design process would take a fair bit longer, meaning fewer and more expensive outfits.

-Outfits will never be able to be mix and matched because how current armours work. Different armour weights cannot be mixed together because the game is not coded that way, and aesthetically it would be terrible. The waist-bands (for instance) on light, medium and heavy are placed differently, resulting in clipping if pieces were mixed.

-Outfits are inherently designed to be outfits- they are not built around the separate head/shoulder/chest/gloves/legs/feet template used for armours. There are features on outfits that would not make sense if changed to armour skins.

-Outfits and armours serve two different purposes and each fulfill their tasks wonderfully. Outfits have always sold better than armours- I assume this is one of the reasons gem-store armour skins will become a thing of the past.

This is not a b2p mmo much no more, yea you buy the hot client but it only gives you access to 4 maps and bunch of other worthless content; the REAL content is now in the cash shop. Just look at that Raider Pack they put up in the CS and tell me they are not trying to go all korean cash shop heavy with game mechanics designed to push you to it. Did NCsoflt finally take over? Looks like it, they do same baloney in their other titles…GW2 up until HoT was the exception…well, not no more. Welcome to GW2, just another lame Cash shop centric f2p. Yay?

to be fair, you literally dont need ANYTHING in the cash shop. dont like what you see? dont buy it. dont like the pricing? dont buy it.

also, please tell me how you can expect them to make money if they don’t invest heavily into the cash shop. seriously, please tell me, they cant pay their worker’s salaries with the player base’s satisfaction

this game could have been like WoW, charging 15 bucks a month (180 DOLLARS A YEAR) for a kittening game. but nope, its buy once, play and pay at your own leisure.
