Skyline Crash.6254

Garbage weapon and spec. I’ve been a warrior main since the betas and there is ZERO reason to go with torch or the new spec over a power warrior.

Sadly, warrior was shafted big time in HOT while the other professions got some really nice specs.

The only way berserker spec and torch will be any good is if they do the following:

-Make fast hands base for warrior. OR at the very least make the new elite spec include a fast hands by default so you don’t need to pick discipline.
-Buff stats while in zerker mode
-Make torch 4 actually do big damage so it can be used in more power oriented builds. Maybe make it a knock down like mace 5?
-Delete berserker spec and start over. They were extremely lazy and uncreative when coming up with this spec. So lazy in fact that they named it berserker. The same as berserker stance and berserker armor. All the new utilities are complete trash and no experienced warrior would pick them over balance stance, zerker stance, or endure pain. Garbage.

Yeah dude, just delete it 3 days before HoT release amirite? Are you kittened? I guarantee I can make a berserker build that would beat you. Keep QQing.

Palawa Joko
Turai Ossa
King Doric/Adelburn/(prince) Rurik
Undead Lich(Vizier Khilbron)
Master Togo

These are the ones I think they will choose from. Not necessarily all of them.

You are picking people who either were a profession that exists now in the game. Or you are picking people that were a profession that no longer exists in the game as part of balance/design choices.

I am pretty sure they will never use anyone on your list.

Next time don’t pick humans, and don’t pick things that have professions.
Shiro is the closest you will ever get to something like this, and he doesn’t use soley assasin magic. He is not a thief. All of your other choices are indistinguishable from things we already have.

Shiro tagachi was basically an assassin in gw1. Jalis is most likely a warrior. I don’t see why they wouldn’t work.

Because we don’t have assasins in gw2, we have thieves. And the thieves we do have have don’t have divine jade wind magic.

All the other choices are humans, or were humans. They all perform magic that either this game left out intentionally or is part of an actual class in gw2.

Channeling a lich will give you necromancer powers. You aren’t going to get that.
Channeling a human warrior/elementalist will give you the powers of those classes, thats a no too.
Channling togo will give you ritualist powers, they left that class out of this game purposefully.

It doesn’t matter whether the person you channel is alive or dead. The thing that matters is that it is something that is uncomparable to a current aspect of the game.

Assasin
Dwarf
Dragon
Centaur
Demon

You are using the capabilities of each stance that did not come from a profession. Shiros ablities are classed as monster skills.

Prince
King
Vizier/Lich
Warmarshal

You don’t channel the powers of their professions, you channel the power of themselves by taking characteristics of each person. For example, I checked the wiki and king jalis was indeed a warrior in GW1. If your theory is correct, then he shouldn’t have been a legend. He exists because they took the characteristics of king jalis and incorporated it into the game.

Hmmm, new amulets. Aside from zealots, anything else you folks think would be interesting?

Rather than having one big amulet, make them several mini pieces of amulets so there is more customizability. Make it more like pve where you can choose to mix and match. Right now, amulets pigeon hole you to extremes that you may not want or may not be effective with your build/playstyle.

For example:

Slot 1: berserker amulet – 240 power 180 precision 180 ferocity

Slot 2: berserker amulet – 240 power 180 precision 180 ferocity

Slot 3: apothecary

Slot 4: cleric

Slot 5: soldiers

By going with 5 amulets, all you have to do is divide each amulets stats by 5 (since they are all divisible by 5 except for celestial, it would be 75.2 so either buff or nerf cele so that it would be a whole number)

My idea for movement speed trait on Dragonhunter:
Make Pure of Sight baseline, change it to
“On the hunt: Your movement speed is increased(25%). Gain Superspeed while your Spear of Justice tether is active.”
This means once a Dragonhunter has targetted you, they’re really gonna come after you. It also has the decision making of “do I want to use the tether to pull them to me or do I wanna keep running at high speeds towards them” as well as synergies with other guardian traits like Renewed Justice.

bruh that would be OP.

how about

On The Hunt:

“Gain swiftness for 6 seconds when you tether a foe with Spear of Justice.”

replace defenders dogma (or merge, whatevs)

I thought of swiftness but we already have swiftness everywhere, I dont think we need more. Thought super speed was a bit more flavorful, but I can see why it could be op haha.

true lol but getting swiftness requires compromising utilities and weapons to get it. this would be for those who want to be full medi while not having to use a staff to be fast

@ Karl McLain

I like the latest changes, the pull on tether is awesome. We guardians really needed a CC like that. The slight changes to the traps will make them look more favorably, I’d however still say a few of them needs a little more of a push. The change to Fragments of Faith is understandable, as it wasn’t meant to hit three times. I welcome it being made into a stunbreaker and giving stability. (We also have a trait which now stunbreaks and gives stability to us, when we are disabled I’d believe?)

Now I’d recommend doing something about…

1. Wings of Resolve getting interupted mid-animation. An evade is a good idea, but instant is even better. Mostly because we guardies wants to use our virtues mid shelter/renewed focus. To cleanse conditions, blind or add more defensive buffs when we’d exit the channel.
2. Hunter’s ward casting time needs to be reduced to 2 sec.
3. Heavy Light needs to be attached to a bow ability (Bow 3), to better use it and to also be able to counter it better if you’d face a DH, by dodging. Need to reward good dodging…

/Dez

I wouldn’t say bring down hunters ward cast time to 2 seconds rather make it the same as rangers barrage (2 1/4 seconds)

The same 1.7 million still don’t agree. Hence probably the single most popular suggestion/request during the Ranger CDI being “How can we get rid of them ENTIRELY?”

Regardless, while we might see some QoL changes to virtues the fact remains as long as we have solid builds for every play mode they’re not going to make substantial changes to a profession-wide mechanic. Even if they utterly suck (they don’t), the total package doesn’t.

virtues dont utterly suck, but they are underwhelming for sure. DH is looking more and more interesting because it changes that with the more “involved” active effects.

What I hate about VoJ is that it’s only good if you have condition damage. Why not also make the 5th attack do extra damage as well as burn. They would both scale off of power and condition damage so you could have one or the other or a little of bit depending on the build. This would also extend to the active effect. There, VoJ isn’t bad for a power build anymore.

VoR: increase the base healing and regen, otherwise its fine.

VoC: remove aegis. Merge it with the trait in virtues that give stability and stun break. Instead, make VoC grant 10% damage reduction for its passive effect. Active would give allies and yourself 25% damage reduction for x amount of seconds.

Dh traits are a pretty in good shape now except for defenders dogma.

I know there’s issues with bow on puncture shot , true shot and hunters ward cast being a bit too slow and a few traits that dont seem to work very well with Dh such as retribution from the radiance trait line. Those however are more under the lines of minor fixes needed to be done. 8/9 professions have something one doesn’t is a balance issue and trumps minor fixes by a long shot in priority.

Rune of the traveler was never a real option in the 1st place, i did spend 2 hours in the beta weekend testing the difference between scholar and traveler the damage loss caused by using traveler runes was over 20%, where true shot would crit a target for 15k with travelers runes it crits for 11k this is why travelers runes will never be a viable option for us.

The root to true shot is really only a pain because we were already slow before, however its flawed that we cant use dodge whilst true shot is casting. Overall a passive run speed trait will do more for us then removing the root to true shot which is why removing the root to true is probably the lowest priority fix needed at the moment.
(what i mean by this comment is hitting dodge whilst true shot is casting wont cancel the cast and dodge the attack continues to cast, having to cancel true shots cast then use dodge is a bit lame)

A fix to puncture shot however is probably the 2nd highest priority in order of fixes/changes needed as the bounce requirement is beyond stupid and ruins the usefulness of the attack a great deal.

I like everyone hates the long cast time on hunters ward but i dont see it being changed as of yet.

As for defenders dogma it would be very difficult for the devs to change this to something else apart from a passive run speed trait without giving Dh too much, possibly 25% run speed whilst wielding ranged weapons may feel too weak for the minor slot defenders dogma uses but it results in giving us something we both need and want without giving the trait line too much.

heavy light defiantly is too weak for a grand master trait and should probably have dulled sense merged into it to make it a more worthy of a gm trait as it does compete with big game hunter but doesn’t come close to it.

So you think adding 20% CD reduction to longbow skills on heavy light would fix the trait?

  • the healing trap really needs to be looked into. as it is, it’s completely useless because you’re relying on your opponent to trigger it for you. anyone with a ranged weapon and half a brain knows that, no matter how hard the dragonhunter hits from range, if they can’t heal themselves, they’re more likely to die than you are. my suggestion is either make the trap trigger on allies passing through (like healing spring), swap the two parts of the heal around (bulk of the heal on set-up, bonus heal on activation), or both. that would make me actually consider that trap over shelter or litany of wrath.

Rangers are not using Healing Spring as much as before for this very reason

why not make the heal 50/50 on trigger and activate? it would make it more balanced

Skyline Crash.6254

Hi all,
Here’s a list of new stuff we’ve got going as we draw closer to launch. Traps are gaining a functionality and are branching out just a tad bit, granting boons to the guardian when the trap is triggered.
We’ve also been evaluating a secondary ability for Spear of Justice, which will pull all tethered enemies toward you, should you desire. In testing with the interaction of Radiance’s Justice refresh mechanic, we felt like this would blow out in quite a few scenarios. Thus, the cooldown of this secondary is separate from Justice itself, allowing for adjustments more freely. Renewed Focus does recharge this ability.

  • New skill: Hunter’s Verdict
  • Hunter’s Verdict: Pull all tethered enemies to you, breaking the tether. This ability’s cooldown (40s) is separate to that of Justice.
  • Procession of Blades: Increased damage per attack by roughly 20%. This trap now grants Fury for 8 seconds when triggered.
  • Fragments of Faith: Fixed this trap striking multiple times. Base damage has been reduced by 40% and is no longer unblockable. This ability is now instant and breaks stuns, as well as granting 3 stacks of stability for 5 seconds when triggered. note: The design of this trap is moving back toward its defensive nature and has much more functionality than before, thus the reduction in overall damage.
  • Test of Faith: This ability is now instant and grants protection for 6 seconds when triggered. Additionally, it now strikes enemies for 66% of its full damage when it triggers.
  • Light’s Judgment: This trap now grants Swiftness for 10 seconds when triggered. Reduced cooldown from 45 seconds to 30.
  • Purification: This trap now grants regeneration for 10 seconds when triggered.
  • Dragon’s Maw: This trap now grants 10 stacks of might for 8 seconds when triggered.
  • Pure of Sight: This trait now grants bonus damage of 7% from 0-600 range, 13% beyond 600 range.

Once again, thanks for the constructive feedback through the beta weekends.

Cheers,
-Karl

These changes are the sort of thing I know some of us were definitely looking for. There are some aspects I’m very unsure about, but overall I’m quite happy.
While they don’t directly address the mechanical issues surrounding Traps, I love that the Dragonhunter is getting a unique relationship to them. It feels appropriate.
Some more detailed thoughts:

Trap Changes – Thank you so much for expanding the functionality of Traps. This makes them feel far more in line with the Guardian’s core essence and boons are always welcome!

Hunter’s Verdict – I like this idea very much and I feel like it goes a very very long way toward improving the Dragonhunter thematically as well. I’m extremely anxious to give this a try!

Procession of Blades – Exactly what I wanted & Fury seems quite appropriate for a rapid strike skill.

Fragments of Faith – While disappointed to see us lose any damage I definitely think it’s justified with the defensive nature of this skill and having it now be a stun break and grant stability is excellent!

Test of Faith – While protection is a pretty powerful effect, I am concerned about the decrease in damage from this skill. I’ll reserve judgement for now, but this may prove to be too weak to worth it now.

Light’s Judgement – This is pretty underwhelming to be honest. I understand the concept behind this . . . but the Trap itself is pretty weak and I’m not sure the CD reduction or addition of swiftness will make it worthwhile.

*Purification * – I felt like the amount of healing from this skill was fine. The addition of Regeneration is nice, but I know that since there are many people who probably won’t be taking the Hunter’s Fortification grandmaster, it wouldn’t hurt to put at least 1 little condi cleanse on Purification.

Dragon’s Maw – 10 stacks of might is nice, but it definitely does not address the fact that the trap itself doesn’t do very much damage.

Pure of Sight – Well, it’s nice for Melee to no longer be excluded here, but it’s most certainly still a very boring trait! It’s a straight damage increase so it’s a little rudimentary in concept, I think. Still, this is much better than it was!

I still have a few concerns about the longbow and I’m not totally convinced that this will improve Traps enough to compensate for the issues they pose, but I think I can finally say that I feel like the Dragonhunter is in an overall pretty usable place.

Thanks to Karl and all the other Devs for not making us wait too long! You’re doing good work, even if not everyone agrees. What counts is that you’re trying.

Any chance we’ll see more changes before launch or is this about it for now?

im pretty sure he meant that it does 66% of the damage in the beginning as burst damage; the damage from them crossing isnt changed.

everything looks great except for:

root on skill 2 LB
no movement speed buff

but alas, i dont think we gon get those changes

But I understand that there is a reason why “rooting” is important. Imagine being able to use Blurred Frenzy in PvP- you can follow somebody/chase somebody whilst using it, do damage AND be invulnerable all at the same time on a 12 second cd. It would make a lot of skills OP.

Surely, they could come up with a smarter compromise. Maybe allow the skill to function as-is if you stand still, but if you move you incur a longer cooldown or lost invulnerability or something.

I honestly wouldn’t mind it if they nerfed the skills in some way. Maybe longer CD or less damage or less whatever.
