Hey, I’d like to try my luck with you guys. I have no experience in raiding in gw2 (saw a few guides so far), but I was a veteran raider in ESO. I have a magi druid (no trinkets yet), tempest, and zerk ps war (plan to turn him into condi in the near future). I also have a chrono, but I haven’t played him extensively, but if necessary could gear him up too. All are meta builds with ascended gear (save for the poor chorno who is running exo)

I’m not sure how many people here played Elder Scrolls Online and even had the pleasure to do trials (raids) there. In the beginning just like here they were hard content for organized groups. Only a few did them. Then later on they redesigned the system. Trials had a normal and veteran mode (+ hardmode on either for extra challenge). Normal mode opened the trials up for pugs, and they were totally doable. Those who wanted to lore got it. Loot was decent too, the only difference was that you could get jewelry on a higher tier level than on normal mode (think like exotic for normal, ascended for veteran but tbh the difference was truly minimal). People can get the same sets, and those who want the challenge can do veteran mode. It truly worked well.

As for GW2, I believe this is a direction they could take. It is the best of both worlds, it caters to the casual and the veteran/hardcore raiders as well. I believe getting legendary armor should be faster on “veteran” mode, but having it available on “normal” mode too would please most players (I assume).

I’m pretty sure it will since upgrading an uninfused ring to infused removed the infusion as well.

A great change however it will destroy your rune/sigil/infusion which in certain cases can cost really high amounts of gold/laurels making it useless for quite a few people. Letting us remove the rune/sigil before using the ascended piece would be a great addition as well (don’t even mention upgrade extractor please), but I won’t be greedy, one step a time.

Gotta agree. I only returned to PvP after a long break just to find solo queue is gone. I don’t understand why was it necessary to remove it. Premades (any half decent ones) slaughter pugs in unranked. It seems really unfair to solo players. I know joining a group or guild dedicated to PvP is a solution but readding solo queue or at least making the matchmaking algorithm very unlikely to put solo players to premade group matches would be fantastic.

Flesh Golem in PvP makes people stuck

Lately I’ve noticed in PvP that Flesh Golems can make my character to get stuck in one place, unable to move, however I can still use skills. I’m not sure when does it happen, but I’d assume it’s after its charging attack, and even then not always. I’m stuck longer than the KD’s duration, so it’s not the knockdown effect. If the necro is kind to fear me, it is solved, otherwise, I’m a free kill.

If I understand well, you ask, how hard it is to stay alive as ele in dungeons? Due to the versatility of the elementalist i’d say it’s not hard to stay alive, even as a full zerker glass cannon. If you learn the fight mechanics, you will know when to dodge or use evade skills, so surviving shouldn’t be an issue. The real art is dealing the possible highest damage, while staying alive.

It’s kinda funny to see how they wanted to reduce the DPS of the zerker meta, yet not zerkers, but celestials get the short end of the stick. Hopefully they have something in mind to make up for it.

I’d love to see they add an option to the players to set up their own list of combo field priorities, so when your finishers go off on top of multiple fields the one you want gets the combo.
The list should be easy to change (drag and drop?) so you can easily adapt to the situation (for example, your default setup is blasting fire fields, but party is dying so you want water fields to take priority, you just quickly drag and drop water to the top of the list).

Something is bugged with it, I got +25% boon duration from NM, my red moa’s fury should last for 18 3/4 sec iirc according to the tooltip however its duration is the base duration (15 sec). Most likely a tooltip bug, since boon duration does not effect boons given by the pet (if I’m correct).

I’d love to see some more use for skill points regarding our progression (not the current one where you add a new skill and it costs a lot for no real reason (new healing skills I’m looking at you!)). For example you could add a new tab to the skill panel, where you can unlock your skills again (even weapon skills) but they would have different cosmetics. Like greater fireball, or bull’s charge summons a bull that runs with you towards your target, or add different colour to skills etc. These would have increased skill point costs, since they are only cosmetical, you could even tie some of them to some achievements/challenges or if you decide to use prestige classes to those as well.

SO you are saying we should all play a n00blet bunker build to be effective ? No really ,ty man…

Being able to hold 2 guy with a bunker build is far from being hard , and it doesnt make u a better player than a full dps ele who will be owned in 2 hits.
Bunker ele was like fotm in early 2013 , as all bunker builds , its easy to play , and very boring as well.When they took down the bunker build , all patch ele switched to smthing else , most of them switched to the next op/easy build.
And to be honnest , bunker enginer is way more effective for this kind of situation.

I simply tried to show the OP that eles can be useful in tPvP, where did I say you need to play bunker if you are an elementalist? I simply shared my experience. You are reading way too much into my post. Bunker might be boring for you, it is not for me, I find it satisfying to hold my ground against multiple players. Being a decent bunker is not easy to play as an elementalist (and before you read too much into this again, I do not stated that I am decent). Hence why there are few ele bunkers lately (at least I’m still waiting to meet another one).

I’ve been playing tPvP exclusively with ele for the last week with a bunker build, I can usually hold the point against 2 guys (unless they are 2 bunker busters, then im going down fast), and in this one week if I lost a match it was not my fault, but my teams for killing people midfield, not caring about objectives.

So if you got issues with elementalists, it’s the player beside them, not the profession that makes your team lose. Elementalists can be decent, they just have a high skill cap and many don’t hit it.

Its not a bad idea. I think I like it.

Wondering if it would be possible to turn off the new skill’s effects and go back to the old one..vice versa. If I got tired of that bull after bull charging so many times, could I go back?

That’s how I imagined it yea. You could go back anytime, it would be as simple as swapping a skill.

I for one, happy about their plans. The 2 week cycle is not working out well in my opinion, with the extra time they get, they can hopefully produce a better quality content, and if it is the extra time, they needed to hit the sweetspot of quality, I’d be even fine with monthly releases from now on.

Legendary mace idea

How about a Dwayna themed legendary mace?

- Special effect could be huge angelic wings (either real or holographic) appearing on your back when weapon is drawn (just like the ones dwayna or its statue have)

- Footprints could be small ankh symbols in blue colour with a ring of blue flames surrounding it (like healing breeze skill icon, or healing signet icon).

- Mace could glow in blue flames during the night, and yellow flames/light during daytime

As to how the mace itself would look, I don’t really have an idea. Thoughts?

yes, and? it’S not like if you can use them all in a single fight since you can only use 2 weapon, and as an elementaliste, i prefer to focus on frost skill (water if you prefer) making in sort i don’t really use the others element.

If you are focusing on a single element you are limiting the potential of your elementalist by a great deal. And as it has been said before, if you want a longbow, just conjure one, it is even a frost one, your favourite element.

More weapons will be added later on, it has been confirmed. (As a side note, I’d rather see rifle added before longbow, focusing on long range, single target, high damage)

Thanks for the honest opinion. I don’t think my suggestions are insane though. I trust you on Fire Wall, I’ve been only using focus for a few days, and that skill was mostly used as a fire combo field, never really watched its damage.

Freezing Gust currently, chills a single opponent for 3 seconds. I think for a 25 second cd skill 3 second chill is a terrible, it should be longer (maybe 6 seconds), and should hit more enemies. There are plenty other skills out there which either has longer chill duration, aoe, or both, this skill needs a huge buff.

Same with Gale, just compare it to any other 2 second knockdown skills. But if bringing it to the same level as tremor would be overpowered, then make it a 30 seconds cd skill just like backbreaker, or keep the 50 sec cd and make it aoe/cone type of attack.

Fire attunement
Fire Wall: I find this skill to be fine.
Fire Shield: Reduce cooldown to 25 from 40 seconds.

Water attunement
Freezing Gust: Make it AoE so it hits the nearby foes of target as well. Increase chill duration to 8 seconds from 3 seconds.
Comet: I find this skill to be fine.

Air attunement
Swirling Winds: I find this skill to be fine.
Gale: Reduce cooldown to 25 from 50 seconds. Make it hit foes in a line. (Similar to warrior mace OH skill tremor)

Earth attunement
Magnetic Wave: Increase duration to 4 from 3 seconds.
Obsidian Flesh: I find this skill to be fine.

Also focus lacks any traits in the arcane line, and being a defense oriented weapon, I think it should either grant some sustain through passive regen (for example like adrenal health) or grant extra defense (like converts 10% of your toughness and vitality into armor). Thoughts, ideas?

Not sure if troll or serious, but if you are serious, chill is an excellent condition for support scenarios —→ slows enemy movement, slows recharge of enemy skills. It’s perfectly fine as it is, and the chill fits the icy theme of Honor of the Waves

If it takes 10 seconds to bring in the sparks, is it too slow? Cause I just had it too, simin kept going stealth at 50%, while the mechanic is that after the sparks are in you got around 45 seconds to kill her. At least that’s how I knew it. She just kept going stealth at 50%, no matter how long it took to get the sparks in place. So you say the only way to do it is to nuke her below 50% somehow, and in that small time while she heals to 50% we gotta bring in the sparks, which is most likely a few seconds. If this is intended there should be a 10 second window

Before anyone says Rush > RTL, you should try out Rush. It’s a terrible skill, it misses frequently for no reason, the only way to reliable use it is to escape, unless you got crippled/chilled/immobilized. I’ve played both ele and warr for a very long time, and I’d trade Rush anytime for RTL. I’m not saying that RTL is good as it is, but nerfing Rush which is already pretty useless won’t solve anything.

I’d love to see a mystic forge recipe for disassembling gifts into their original components. For example, you crafted a gift of metal (could be any other gift too, like gift of bifrost), but decided to go for something else, you would get back all the materials it required. Recipe could be: Gift+10 crystals+10 ectos+elonian wine (subject to change).

Your best bet is Citadel of Flame path 1+2. Do those daily and you’ll have your full berserk armor in 2 or so weeks

I’ve been running the same combo for a while in sPvP/tPvP, it is effective, if they got no stun breakers. Otherwise it’s a bit more tricky but effective nonetheless.

Please, give us greatsword, a long-range(1200-1500)

I don’t get it why people want a MELEE weapon to be a long range one. This doesn’t make any sense. GS is cool when swung sure, but not from miles away from your enemies. If they ever add GS to ele, I hope it will be close range (150-300), and will give a real battle-mage feeling to it.

On the other hand a Rifle could fill this long range damage role, just make the rifle shoot bullets based on attument, it wouldn’t take long time to come up with a few skills, and only 2 professions can use rifle (unlike GS which is already 4), and it fits the theme for me

We’ve seen that Anet added all kinds of stat combinations to all the ascended gear, except for back item. I’d really like to know if they plan adding new combinations to it within reasonable time, since I don’t want to waste 500 globs of ecto on a current one which doesn’t suit my playstyle, just to see the one I desire gets released next month.

Achievement system - Reformed

The current achievement system can be separted into two parts: Normal achievements and daily/monthly achievements. Normal achievements award achievement points upon completion, and sometimes even a title. Daily/monthly achievements award all kinds of goodies (money, karma, chance for rares like BLSK, laurels, etc), along with the achievement points.

So you can ask, what’s wrong with the current system?
First of all, achievement points should reflect how much of the content you explored and did, what have you achieved. Currently a high achievement point doesn’t necessarily mean this. Also if Anet wants to reward us for doing achievements
apart from the current rewards (like with laurels) they need to do some changes, so people with 10k or higher achievement points won’t have a huge advantage.

So how I envision this?

1) Remove daily/monthly tasks from achievement point system. I don’t think there’s anyone who does these for achievement points. They shouldn’t give any achievement point reward, the normal rewards are good enough.

2) Remove infinite achievements. Honestly what’s the point giving a guy achievement points for salvaging thousands of stuff (the salvaged item is a good reward already) or doing dungeons over and over and over and over again. If you want to reward people for these why not give us a portal used or meters ran endless achievement? Just remove these, they serve no purpose at all (unless you want to drive the economy by making some players buy thousands of salvage items for achievement points)

3) Remove all achievement points that were gained by doing the above two. This will ensure that the achievement point score will reflect real achievements, and more importantly you can start rewarding people according to it. New and old players alike will be on equal standing. Old time players are already have the advantage of having more gold/laurels/whatever.

And with this 3 easy steps, we cleaned up the mess that the achievement system has. You can now give laurels (1 after every 100 points?), however this is not part of my suggestions, nor should it be part of this discussion. I’m looking forward for you responses:)

If you want to have high might stacks you should use GS with Forceful GS trait. Also what build are you looking for? DPS? Control? Support? Is it for PvE? WvW? or PvP? We need more details to help you out

Gear wise you seem to be going in a defensive/support kind of build. I ran a similar build with mace/shield (tank style) using shouts to heal and remove conditions. The build was 10/0/30/30/0 (Berserker’s power/ Cull of the weak, Sundering mace, Shield Master/ Empower allies, Lung capacity, Vigorous shouts). I had ok damage, but the point of this build is to be hard to kill, supporting allies (condi removal, boons, rezzing), and not being the main dps. I used Healing Surge, and 3 shouts (FGJ, SiO, Fear me) + Signet of Rage or Warbanner (though you might want to swap empower allies to inspiring banners trait to make it a lot more useful). Hope this helps

I don’t think Scholar is the best for melee classes because of the predication on being at essentially full HP.

Try using omnomberry pie, even if you lose HP you’ll be at full HP again pretty fast. Also dodge is your best friend, I run a lot of dungeons, and even if I lose HP I get back to full pretty fast. With proper playstyle and setup Scholar runes boost your dps by a lot

Ruby orbs/Runes of the Scholar for increased dps. Soldier runes are great for a bit added survivability and is quite helpful in a team if you run at least 2 shouts (and there’s noone else focusing on condition removal)
