The person who thought that matching the bottom 5 MMR players vs the top 5 MMR players is a good design choice is a genius and right!

4th Season is the LAST season to get the achievements. I’m pretty sure of that. You need 9 division crosses aprox, so you should start now if you want them (this is the hardest part).

Secondly Anet promised in the NEXT ‘pvp achievement themed year’, that there still will be A WAY (not current way most likely) to get the wings. What, or how, is unknown. Probably sacrafice ‘assets’ of the new years ‘themed reward’, for the old one.

I already have 7 division crosses. But still looking for a confirmation that 4th season really is the last season. Like I said – everybody always assumed it, but I could never find a single confirmation. And since season 3 ends in July and the last season should end in December (to make it a full year), the gap seems to be a bit too large. Unless season 4 lasts 3-4 months.

What you describe is the season 2 matchmaking. Season 3 apparently has changed this, although to which extent we do not know (but it’s safe to assume it’s not longer top5 mmr vs bottom 5 mmr):

Season 2 matchmaking was changed from Season 1 Ranked and Unranked matchmaking to help ensure league positions correlated more with skill instead of simply being based on the hours played. These changes saw a multitude of improvements for Season 2, but unfortunately they also spread out win rates further than we would have liked, as matches became a bit too uneven. We’ve created a new matchmaker for Season 3 that will strike a balance between the two previous seasons, accomplishing the same goals of accuracy from Season 2 but doing so with the evenness of matches that players experienced in Season 1.

I googled hard and I failed to find any official info on this.
Everyone (including me) always seemed to assume that we will have one year to complete the 4 “Year of the Ascension” achievements and that there will be 4 seasons to do so.
However, since this should end in December… will there really be only one more season from July to December? Will we get a 5th season to complete these achievements and craft our wings?
(Just asking because it would allow me to uninstall this unfun MMR hell, as crossing Amber 2 more times would be sufficient for me…)

If that would be the case you should be able to reach the next tier because of win/loosestreak bonuses.

The problem is, I neither had a single win or losing streak. It’s literally win-loss-win-loss-win-loss-win-loss, with a maximum of 2 consecutive wins or losses.
I never experienced anything like this in s1 or s2. And while this sounds like a perfect matchmaking balance, it also locks me tight at 1-2 pips.

In S2 I won about 90% of my matches (only played up to Ruby though, since it was more of a sidekick game to me). Guess it wasn’t fairer – but better for ME.

Nothing worked for me.
Re-installed GW1 and logged in.
Walked into my HoM.
Entered my name in the HoM calculator.
AP and titles still gone in GW2, even hours later.

Well, too bad I am stuck on quest 14 which is broken.

I am quite sure, however, that there must be other ways. Patch notes stated that you can get these armor pieces by playing on Dragon’s Reach. Since this map does not have any vendors that probably means you have to succeed with the meta event (which is impossible with random people right now, but will probably be doable in 2 weeks+, once people have smartened up).

While this might be a trivial matter to most, and hardly appreciated by more than 5% of the playerbase, I just wanted to stop by to say THANK YOU for this outlandish soundtrack.

The original GW2 music was really good, but the HoT soundtrack knocks it out of the park. Thank you for the best score since Arcanum: Of Steamworks And Magick Obscura.

I can confirm that attempting to open these chests still crashes me to desktop.

Unfortunately the 3 years old combat mod is still better, as it allows me to map the right mouse button.
Once they resolve it, it will be a great addition. Although the FAQ kinda sounds as if they can’t do it (even though a fan mod can…).

Judging from the GW1Guru forums, this might also help to revitalize the heavily suffering GW1 population. Up to the point where people who want to get the titles now couldn’t do it, because all the stuff that relies on other people simply can’t be done anymore.

You have to blame NCSoft for this decision.

Apparently they were not satisfied with current revenues, so RNG was one of their short-term plans to make GW2 more profitable.

I have played GW since Closed Alpha in late 2003/early 2004. According to a chart Gaile Gray posted in the testing forums back then, I have been among the first 300 external alpha testers worldwide.

I was there, when Lion’s Arch was still Hakewood.
I was there, when Confessor Dorian was still Confessor Schessler.
I was there, when guild tabards were replaced by samuarai flags which were then replaced by guild capes.

Yet, whenever I get nostalgic about GW1, my fondest memories are tied to Cantha’s landscape, music, events and factions.
The world map is almost as diverse as Tyria’s, but in my eyes far more interesting (the “ghettos”, snow, green fields, the Jade Sea and — first and foremost — the Echovald Forest).

A considerable part of what fueled my hype during the endless wait for GW2 was the prospect of visiting Cantha with GW2’s engine and a truly open world experience.
In fact, that anticipation still is a driving force behind my motivation to play this game every single day.

To be sure, I do absolutely not miss the new classes (in fact I do not want to see any additional classes in GW2 ever – PvP balance is about as good as it could get in an MMO). I also don’t miss the completely laughable “alliance battles”.

A new continent (yes, that’d be Cantha) with factional open world PvP and real territorial domination of maps/cities/etc., however… now that would be different story entirely.
But I am getting ahead of myself. Simply re-visiting gorgeous Cantha in GW2 would be enough to warm my heart.

Sure. Those people certainly were:
- Americans, so they were able to snatch the best names a few minutes before Europeans could log in
- Not guild leaders, so they wouldn’t be cut off from their own guild for the first 3 days
- Or actually unguilded, so they wouldn’t mind that pretty much every guild feature would not work in the first week
- Not very sociable, so that not being able to group would not bother them

A lot of people actually. I would really use the word PERFECT here. Since perfect could not be any better. Really fitting to describe GW2’s launch.

Worst customer support of all time (befit for the worst launch in MMO history). I’d love to pay a lot of money (so they can hire more/more competent people). But alas, they won’t let me because of some anti-fraud system developed by a monkey.
