Let’s ignore all of the balance claims Anet promised and didn’t deliver.
Let’s ignore backstab thieves still reign supreme.
Let’s ignore the bunker guardians still living through everything.
Let’s not ignore that Anet still hasn’t figured out that teaming up presets vs pugs is a bad idea. Is it a lack of talent on the dev team to set up a script that makes preset teams fight other preset teams? I’m sure some 5th graders could drum one up for you if you ask nicely.
Or maybe the head dev’s for this game play bunker guardian with his friend the backstab thief and they get their jollies steamrolling pugs in Tpvp.
Glass cannon aspect IS balanced.
The way the combo functions ISN’T.
The major problem I have with thief glass cannon is that it isn’t nearly has glass cannon as other classes are when they go for glass cannon. With so many stealth, the ability to chain stealth, and the ability to reset the backstab combo so effortlessly if it misses the first time or two, a thief isn’t nearly the same type of glass cannon as say any other fully offensive class.
Bored waiting on the new patch hoping it balancing Spvp out better then it is.
I’m curious on what people think the best Anti-thief (the popular dagger spec) class and build is?
17,000 toughness? Yea I bet that does make it easy.
I enjoyed the music choice. Something different then the typical electronic or hardcore rap kitten people generally use.
If your team goes for the objectives and tries to win, more often then not everyone on that team will receive less glory at the end of the match then the team that lost, but zerged around acquiring kills.
Just won a match 500 to 138. Yet received 58 glory plus an amazing 9 glory for winning. Not one person on the other side had less then 100 glory and they just zerged around never holding more then one point.
So is that the point?
Objectives don’t matter, just zerg zerg zerg to rank up?
To be fair, a well played Ele can get away from just about any class or spec.
And see, I like all three of the skills you listed.
Using a deathshroud spec, I use armor not only for the stun break and protection, but as a way to quickly refill my life force. I can easily get a full bar from fighting, switch to deathshroud, blow up target for a bit until I get forced out, heal, use armor, and be back to a full life force bar within 10 seconds.
Grasp is less useful I’ll admit. I like it in Wvw though for picking off targets on walls. People get kitteny, pop up to throw some damage, and I can usually snag them off the wall for some fun with my group.
Wall is awesome. You can easily get 10 seconds of protection out there and the extra damage to the target is a great.
I usually have the talent that reduces the cooldowns for spectral skills and run with walk, armor, and either corrupt boon, wall, or grasp depending on what I’m doing.
If hot join Spvp was 5v5 I would join that in a heartbeat.
But 8v8 is just a clusterkitten for these maps. It always ends up zerg vs zerg with little deviation.
Figure I’ll share my build. I doubt it’s unique, but I haven’t really seen it.
I wanted a non-condition damage build that wasn’t a glass cannon. I was also tired of well builds. I wanted a pure power build that I could see the big pretty numbers with. Most of the other power builds I’ve tried I would simply die way to quick if any kind of burst damage spec came after me.
This is the first I’ve found that gives me a good mix of power attacks and survivability. I’m still learning how to use it best, but it also has been very good at breaking bunker builds if I time my corrupt boon right with my many CC’s.
I typically open from range with staff saving my fear before switching to axe. I found most people didn’t heal until they were under 50% so right around that moment I would use horn 4, corrupt boon, use flesh golums charge, switch back to staff and use it’s fear, switch to death shroud and fear from there and nuke with lifeblast.
I like spectral walk cause it can get you out of a lot of jams quickly and spectral armor is amazing for building up another full bar of death shroud.
You can also live for awhile against several hostiles by switching in and our of deathshroud and using your CC’s.

The problem isn’t bunkers so much as there are almost no reliable ways to counter them.
If someone wants to spend all their points for a pure bunker build, there should be builds that completely counter them but are not great at other things.
Right now, the main counter are builds that can turn boons into conditions. The problem is that many bunkers have ways to drop all conditions on lower cooldowns then the abilitys to turn the boons. And the abilitys still bug out and do nothing what so ever when used.
I don’t think there is any sort of balancing done with Tpvp.
My favorite was when I was teamed up with 4 other necromancers making it a 5 necromancer team and we had all joined solo…..
We actually won the first round until running into a guild team.
One thing I see a lot of people do; Don’t always be in a rush to go and stomp everyone.
If you have all of the other team around you down and you either already control the point or they are outside the point, then just dps them down slowly.
While they are downed they are doing nothing to help their team. Just dps them slowly down. If one of their teammates come, drop aoes on the downed players and intrupts.
Now that paid Tpvp is finally up, can we please change free Tpvp to not allow groups of 3 or more.
This allows you to still do it with a friend, but if you want to do a full group then you need to do the Paid Tpvp.
I had hopes that Free Tpvp would finally become pug friendly. However, that has not been the case. There is still always that full preset group wiping the floor against all the pugs. I assume it’s because they can’t handle a fair fight in the paid Tpvp, but it still sucks.
We can’t give an insightful reply cause we have no idea. Yes, some things were changed.
What class are you?
What spec are you playing as?
What gear are you using?

I like how this went from getting constantly non-stopped Dazed to the point he couldn’t do anything, to two dazes over 60 seconds of combat.
So I generally enjoy doing Tpvp.
I don’t have a guild atm simply because I haven’t put the time into finding a decent one, so I run a lot of pug Tpvp groups.
It was fun….for awhile.
Now however, about 1 out of 3 pug Tpvp groups I get I run into one or two players afking. Some afk from the very start, others do a little and then start afking. I’m not sure if they are bots hoping for a victory or just jerks hoping for the same. Maybe even friends of preset teams helping narrow down who they have to fight against.
But either way, there is nothing we can do about it other then bend over to the other, usually preset team.
Ignoring the fact that Anet had promised a different category most preset teams would be in, what is being done to punish or limit afkers in pug Tpvp?
About 1 time out of 3 when I have to load to rez (which is silly already, I’m just going to a rez point, why the hell do you need to add a loading screen for that) I will get stuck in a constant loop of loading and have to alt ctrl delete out of the game.
When will this be addressed?
Why is this the first MMO that seems to introduce more bugs every patch then bug fixes?
Vengeance should have a 100% chance to rally if you kill something in PvE

What?
Thief has awesome downed abilities. They can easily prevent a stomp twice and even move towards teammates to get help. Guardians are even better. They can prevent an entire team from stomping them and if they get their third skill up can pretty much heal themselves back up before anyone can restomp them.
The difference?
One was spammable, the others have cooldowns.
So, is sPvP basically only for Necros, Mesmers, Thieves, and Elementalists?

If you play a condition ranger, then yes most Necros will give you trouble.
Everytime I fight one of you guys, yall blow cooldowns and stack 20 stack of bleed on me within seconds. The problem is I run a signet that sends all conditions on myself to my target. And since I’ve found most rangers haven’t learned anything other then doing that large stack of bleeds quickly and just watching their target die, they don’t have the ability to counter it if someone turns the table.
Which ever class you pick, don’t do Necro.
Yes, a well played condition build can do a decent point control. But that’s all they can do. There’s no choices in their builds. You withe go Sceptor/offhand and Staff condition build or you go home.
And there are better point control classes out there.
If you want to dominate other classes with little need to use your brain on when to use a skill roll a thief. It’s literally all about building around one skill and then spamming that with judicious use of stealth abilities. Choose either a heartseeker spam build, pistol whip spam build, or a slightly more complex backstab build.
Want to be unkillable by any less then 3 people and then only after a long period of combat? Go Guardian. You don’t need to do much in the way of damage, retaliation will do that for you. What? They removed it. Put it back up! Boons coming out your kitten when played well.
Want to control the battle? Go Mesmer. It doesn’t take as much skill to do well with this class as most people try to claim. To master it yes, but to get proficient enough to beat every other class on a repeated basis, no. Go two handed sword and one handed sword and focus. Stack power and crit. Go to town.
Yes, that’s what I try to do, save my corrupt boon for when he pops that ability that gives him a ton of boons.
The problem is that it’s not removing those boons.
I hate fighting guardians for a number of reasons.
However, the biggest reason is that I can’t seem to remove any of their boons even though we have an ability that clearly states it removes ALL boons.
This generally works on other classes, but it seems to never work on guardians. Do they have something that prevents their boons from being removed? Is it just another bug?
