If ANet doesn’t wish to budge the solution is quite simple. Don’t WvWvW and show their metrics wrong. I’m sure this maybe a good time anyway to take a small break from WvWvW as they fix the very likely bugs and exploits on the new maps . You don’t need to boycott the entire game as there is plenty to do just don’t play WvWvW.

Now initially ANet may not budge but if we all keep at it by avoid WvWvW there’s a good chance for change to happen. Has happened in various other MMOs like EVE, AION, WoW, and even GW2 with the free hero slot.

Condition removal or Hammer Skills

Before the patch I loved doing huge condition removal with hammer but now I’m screwed into choosing one or the other. Especially with the new condition changes this seems even more important now to have removal but it makes hammer builds harder to select since I won’t get that 20% reduction on skills. Basically now I have to just tank through conditions if several different ones are put on me…or lose a lot of damage and/or boons.

lol by far the best response I’ve read.

@OP, I guess some of us like to see where our enemies are to line up shots and do AOE on groups. We also like to know how many of them their are in the area. This isn’t people disappearing for 2 seconds, this is everyone outside of your group disappearing for several minutes. Tab target around can give you a target but it doesn’t give me all the other information I need for things like AOE, retreating, charging, and etc.

I’d say don’t bother as the mind set to start ignoring those with the commander tags is growing. 90% of commanders have no idea what they are doing and often lead groups of people into death traps or wrong places at the wrong time. I wish I could turn off the commander icons on the map and seems to be a popular suggestion.

Want to be a real commander for free? Notify the “team” with useful information on if something is going down, their numbers, any kind of siege and ways to counter their attack. Group standing around not sure where to go, say follow and start running. Most players will follow especially if you keep leading them to kills and capturing

Too much is broken. I would be turned off by MMOs if this was my first because of it.

I’ve played quite a few MMOs in the past and know that stuff like this gets fixed but at the rate of stuff getting fixed on major issues is too slow going. Then with new bugs appearing after a patch just makes it even worse. These last two patches have probably been the worst in terms of breaking more. If I was a new person to the MMO world this latest patch would make me leave especially if I came for the PvP side of things.

Don’t get me wrong though parts of the game is amazing and people would probably love the exploring, graphics, and NPCs/story in the world but the bugs would push me out.

1. Are there any specific steps you can take to reproduce the issue?

Yeah get near a building in my case. I’ve never had the issue even with massive armies on both sides out in middle of no where. But even with simple 15v15 I’ve gotten the issue near a camp/fort/buildings. I attached a picture of where I don’t see the issue ever no matter what size fight it is.

I can’t get you a DxDiag atm but can tell you its an i7 @ 3.6Ghz, 6GB of Memory, Nvidia GTX 680 with latest drivers.

That is true the invisible players has been especially bad lately in the last patch or two. Even when barely anyone around so perhaps that’s really it. They aren’t suppose to be stealthed that long and probably aren’t, you just can’t see them due to a rendering issue. In my case he didn’t pop shadow refugee until after I was downed. Plus I was running at full speed while under elixir S so even he did have it up we both would have been far from it at that point.

Would you support a total reset?

perhaps anet need more data before they ban bots by the thousands and have security measures to prevent future botting activities perhaps?

Granted but the game has been out for over a month, how much more time is needed? There lies the problem as all Anet says is very vague responses of basically “soon”. Some of the fixes for personal stories have been the same soon just to take 3 weeks later and still nothing has come of it. I know they are probably working but while they are making and creating they should have more personal on hand to handle the influx of bots. If they don’t the economy becomes greatly affected which is my greatest concern.

Same issue happened in the first few months of Aion. Nothing to stop the gather bots and several parts of the economy just tanked terribly. They finally fixed it but at what cost? The damage had been done.

My #1 alt is my guardian and playing with the hammer/staff setup I’d say they work out just fine. I don’t use the staff much except maybe some speed buffs or being support for those around me so I’m mostly just hammer. I’ve got a good tank, I can’t take down everything as fast as my main engineer but my survivability is far far higher. The extra two seconds I take to kill monsters I can deal with.

Would you support a total reset?

Hey guys! I know how to fix this!

Let’s nerf Mesmer phantasms and staff skills, because they are clearly overpowered!

Forget the thief, they’ve got nothing on the mesmer’s overpowered chaos storm (that has a 30 second CD, lasts only 6 seconds and cant kill anyone with half a brain to dodge out of) Lets make phantasms have a 40 sec CD so that those lazy people can finally be bothered to kill them!

Let’s nerf the mesmer more, because they clearly are overpowered in PvE and the average fight to kill one in PvP lasts more than 2 seconds!

Mesmer is overpowered? Since when? We’re talking about a class that can kill you in just a few seconds before you can even react. A mesmer does not pull off such damage, not even close.

I’ve seen something like this but what I’ve seen recently is them completely stealth. They never come out. People had been complaining about it before in W3 and sPvP how you could be dead to a thief before you could even click an ability. I personally thought they were crazy until I saw it happen to myself as an engineer.

Saw a thief disappear in the distance just afk looking and next thing I know I’m instantly to about 1-2k health. The moment I had got hit I immediately pop healing turret to bring me back up to 6k, dodged twice, while popping elixir b and then pop elixir S to make myself invul and try to find him while running away. The entire time he was stealthed and the moment elixir S ended I lost all my remaining ~7k health and downed instantly. Then of course still not to be seen I get finished. So not at one time did I ever see him besides at the very start out of range and a few seconds after he killed me off he reappeared and ran towards the next person near by doing the exact same thing.

This makes me wonder a few things, first how can you counter against someone you can’t see. I used all resources available to me that I could quickly cast in that 5-7 second long fight so what else could I have possibly done to force him out of stealth at the very start so I could actually attack back? Now I hear the argument that you’re too squishy this and that but I’ve heard the same reports from tanky decked out warriors. So while at first I thought everyone was crazy, after it happened to me it just doesn’t seem right. I’ve played 4 classes now quite a bit, Engineer, Guardian, Mesmer, Warrior and while reviewing I just don’t see how anyone could counter this besides another thief that could stealth and run away. It just comes down to you have no one to attack, they do crazy amounts of damage, and it happens so quickly.

Overall I don’t mind that they can do crazy amounts of damage so quickly but the fact they are stealthed the entire time on top of it just doesn’t seem balanced really.

Having a similar issue. A month ago when I did this with my main character I ran into the stuck issue but was able to get out of it after running in and out a few times.

This time on my alt after clearing the cave half the NPCs didn’t follow me at all. So I ran around killed a bunch more monsters let the NPCs die, then rezed them and tried to continue. Got another one or two to follow me but still several of them were stuck inside the cave or some outside by the area where you have to push off the attack when you find the first group of survivors. Could never get the “this cave exit is blocked” to fire off so after 30 minutes of trying I gave up.

On a personal note, this is is just stupid that a month has passed and this still hasn’t been fixed. The personal story was one of the main highlights to get people into this game and every other mission seems to be bugged in one way or another. There are no more excuses at all for this especially over a month later. But hey, at least main efforts were put in to stop people from getting armor skins too quickly from dungeons or from farming events. sigh.

Sorry I didn’t read all 13 pages so I apologize if something in here was said before.

I think we should move to 48 hours for the time being. That way there’s a bit more movement than the current one server takes all due to night capping/server pop. After the initial day where one server takes all it seems to rarely move past this. You can setup a max upgrade spend several gold and it gets all taken down by 10 people because no one’s available to defend at 5am. I really don’t see how it could get any better either as the game progresses since we’re moving outside the initial “peak” of launch and school in full blast. So all server populations will dip a bit and then on top of that being camped during prime time due to losing everything at night/server pop imbalance really makes it so that server doesn’t want to push out. Why bother fighting if its just a waste of silver?

The real only way to make it more “balanced” per say in my mind is move more towards the EVE Online method of having a server that handles all regions not just like in this case North America. Saying things like well get oceanic guilds on doesn’t do much because there are not enough of these to make all servers full at night. If Europe and NA servers were merged it would be a lot easier because when NA is mostly deep asleep EU is now wide awake.

Monthly Achievements Reset on 9/28 during daily reset

I noticed that along with my daily reset yesterday I also got my monthly reset. It’s obviously not October yet and still shows September Achievements in the panel. I had already completed my monthly well over a week ago. So I’m a bit curious to why I got a reset last night. This has nothing to do with the previous monthly reset earlier in the month.

So 30 minutes into using a glory booster it felt no different than without it so I started checking and sure enough, I don’t get a 50% boost, I don’t even get a 1% boost.

I don’t get a boost during capturing points, I don’t get a boost during kills, and I don’t get a boost at the end of the match. So I’m curious as if other players have noticed the same thing or not. But anyway when watching and checking my glory bar after everything that happens there doesn’t look to be a 50% boost in any way.

They (all 3 versions) work fine. You’re just trying to socket in an item way too high level for it. Try a lesser gem than what you’re currently trying.

I agree it’s beyond terrible to have this code. Now the TP wouldn’t be bad but the fact I have to pay over a silver or 5 silver just for some lower end crafting item is stupid. I’d rather just farm it especially since I can’t justify with the little money I do have to waste up to half a gold crafting one level 100-150 armor that will be replaced 10 levels later. Given up that idea and in lower end cases it’s cheaper just to buy drops or wait for a drop. First MMO where I can’t make useful gear for my alts while they level without destroying my bank.

Agreed! A group/zerg can do amazing job when you have a few players supporting instead of just pure DPS. But they get screwed over if they keeping playing support. I’ve tried doing a bit more support but end up a lot more towards DPS because of the badge factor.

Then you have support from upgrading, building siege, running supplies, protecting the dolyaks but it can be boring and no real reward besides money loss. Probably the main reason why no one does it but perhaps a daily WvWvW achievement that rewards players on doing one of each (capture of a camp, escort, build siege, repair defenses, rez 10 players, etc) can reward a few badges at the end of it all. This way it can’t be abused really since you can only get it once a day but rewards you for helping in all ways.

From CD here and I’ve got to say after spending an entire day till 4am fighting I’d say it’s your own fault you guys didn’t defend well enough. As for the tactics at the spawn, you have 3 ways out of every spawn and if you can’t manage to rush one of them then it’s kind of your own fault again. Have your thieves stealth, have your engineers toss elixir B and S together then do supply drops on top of the siege weapons, and have your guardians put up some defense as well with swiftness. We do this all the time to take back heavily camped supply camps. When you work together its amazing what you can accomplish than sitting in spawn complaining about what’s going on.

Im sorry how many supply camps do you take with 8+ seige devices in one spot? Short of MAYBE pangloss with enough time i would suspect 0.

I might add that you only need however many people on those siege devices while the rest of you could easily go retake anything thats lost to the small force that would make a break for it.

About 7-8 times yesterday. Happens a lot more often than you think as keeping supplies low is game changing in WvWvW.

Occasionally when I click on a player’s name to see their profile I get a red banner warning that I’m not a moderator. I still see the 4 options but the red banner is there. I miss taking a picture but the next time it happens I’ll get one but in the mean time wondered if anyone else gets this.

Sorry everybody, but we currently have no plans to offer a stay logged in option on the forums. The requirement to log in again every so often is part of our back-end security.

That’s poor reasoning and excuse. What you’re doing is instead of allowing people to keep logged in is using 3rd party programs to auto-login some which take and use those passwords if they don’t use a built in one. Setting a cookie that states they can talk on the forums compromises nothing if you force a double check at clicking “My Account” after a set amount of time or the next time they close their browser. There is really no excuse to not do this.

Good example is Amazon. You can do some of the basics (add things to wish list, add to discussions, review) when using their website but when it comes time to get to my account it does that double check which clears the second you close out of your browser.

Simple solution, IMO:

Have a 100 second timer when you die. Every second the screen gets 1% darker until it turns black completely black at 100 seconds. You can still lie there for as long as you want AND see the map. When an ally begins to resurrect you, each second they spent would add 10 seconds / 10% to this timer until you are rezzed, or until it goes black again. That way you can stay down as long as you like, but cannot spy for more then 100 seconds (just under two minutes).

Would love if this happened right here.

I agree but I think another part of it is that 1 sec invulnerability as you’re falling down in my opinion at least. Quite a few times I’ve used a huge attack the moment they are switching to the down state and instead of them taking damage the attack is made null. If 5 players are attacking someone at once and the first attack gets the hit that knocks the player down, the other 4 attacks shouldn’t be made null right there and then. In sPvP perhaps sure, but in w3 its stupid.

I agree there should be a bit more “sexier armor” for the the medium. The light armor users have quite a bit of revealing armor almost too much to a degree, heavy have some but has a nice balance in my mind. I actually like the heavy armor a lot due to the craziness on how kitten some of them look. Then you come to medium where our armor is mostly us wearing rags or the skin of an animal it seems. I don’t expect us to be like light armor or even that revealing, just wish we had armor that looked half decent for spending 42k karma on and not 1 of every dead animal skin on me.

Right now you can’t get all 3 orders armors, so please change this. Reasoning and of course story below.

So a week ago I beat my personal story on vigil and I thought that was it. Then today I learned that each order gets a special armor vendor you can use. If you didn’t know that, now you do. On top of that the gear is soulbound on acquire and you can never get the armor for the other 2 orders on your character if you’re thinking alts.The personal story just doesn’t add up either since we were all one team.

We join a “pact” together, put aside our differences, thousands of lives lost on each side, all working together to stop and kill Zhaitan. After all that the other two orders don’t want to talk to me. wtf. Thanks for helping and saving the world but never talk to us again.

I can’t even do anything to possibly change this (start over the story or do missions to gain their friendship) and now I feel screwed out because there wasn’t a place that said “you can only get certain armor skins if you join this order”. Only thing was that your decision was final but I figured I’d do the other 2 orders on my alt when I got around to it. I wouldn’t have selected vigil if I knew the only way to get the whispers armor was selecting them at level ~30 personal story. So allow us in some way get the other armor sets on our characters.

Hopefully this picture shows up well enough but as you can see with the armor set I have equipped makes me have two different skin colors. It’s quite noticeable on the neck to see the two differences. The chest and arms are also a different color as well and I’m guessing its not suppose to be this way since no other armor set I’ve seen does this to my character.

What does an omnomberry taste like?

I’ve been trying to make some Omnomberry Bar’s at home with my own discovery methods yet I can’t find what an omnomberry actually is (since they aren’t sold at my grocery store) or what one tastes like. I want to eat omnomberry bars outside of the game while my character eat one for umm science purposes. Like I wonder if the effects stack but anyway, still wondering what an omnomberry tastes like.

I’m guessing ArenaNet has a secret recipe for the omnomberry bars OOG but won’t tell anyone.

Receiving gold from unknown sources, how should I handle this?

no, I didn’t buy gold but at the moment my mailbox is full of people just sending me money over and over from different names, I haven’t accepted any of it but want to know if there are consequences if I did.

Do the messages have a yellow heart infront of them?

If they do then nothing to be worried about as there npc’s thanking you for the job you served them.

If they have a white letter icon then there real people and I would be concerned about it.

I presume this guy is thinking all the rewards from npc’s are real people trying to send him random amounts of money as he said they all have different names.

That would be my first guess or he’s got a name similar to a guild leader. Guild leader was asking for donations and he just became the lucky recipient instead.

I thought the same deal and remembered the emphasis that the home instance would customize/changed based on what you do. But what really happened is spend maybe 4-5 quick missions in it and never saw it again.

Would love if I could setup my own crafting stations, waypoint, vendors, TP access, building customization, and etc. Even if it were to cost me quite a bit of gold I’d love to do that.

Staff Elementalists in my guild complain about this boss and others like it quite often. They tend to be more support oriented, and don’t do a great deal of damage.

Supporting by combo fields, boons, non-damaging conditions, and healing all do not count. Controlling trash does not appear to count.

Right now, only pure DPS against the boss counts, and my guess is you need to do approximately 1% or so of the bosses health for it to count you.

With these popular big events, it can be quite difficult to do “enough” damage before the boss dies, just due to so many others with higher DPS.

Incorrect. I’ve a few times did no damage to world bosses/dragons and played only support (healing, killing trash, rezing NPCs) and have gotten gold. Same deal happens in WvWvW.

I doubt they would really want to force people towards a DPS fight in order to be rewarded.

Bring back the cooking materials to the vendors

I really don’t understand the reason for removing them or saw a reason for that matter.

Now I hear one of the possible reasons was because players could power level off these items due to how cheap the karma vendor was with them. If this was the case the same thing is still happening because of how cheap its on the market so nothing was stopped.

But what ever the case was you are in return just inconveniencing 400 level cooks with an extra step needing to run back and forth to the TP for basic materials, players getting bags full of cooking materials they do not want or need instead of useful crafting pieces, and less stuff to spend karma on which is just mass building at this point once you hit 80. Plus since there’s so much of it for sale it’s not like you’re going to make a useful profit with it anyway. As time passes the is just more and more on the market and less costs overall since everyone shares the same TP.

So please undo this change even if it means upping karma costs on them.

The following Cooking Materials are no longer sold for Karma and are now acquired through drops, gathering nodes, or loot bags: Butter, Chocolate, Vanilla, Chili Peppers, Thyme, Black Peppercorns, Cinnamon, Bay Leaves, Walnuts, and Oranges.

What do you do since you turned 80?

Been 80 within the first week and my actual playing has kinda really slowed down. With 100% map complete, personal story done, max crafting, and have my main set of gear I usually queue for the battlegrounds and then afk in LA while I wait 2-3 hours for it to start. Been watching a lot of TV lol.

Occasionally try do do some dungeons on explore mode but half of those are disappointments because I guess I’m a rare player who knows how to use the dodge function. Once you’ve died 7 times in a row in a dungeon due to entire party wipes it gets old and boring fast as 1 v 1 fights with the boss never go well. Also now seeing and hearing lot of people using glitches to make the boss fights significantly easier which kinda defeats the whole purpose in my mind. I think some changes could be made to dungeons a bit and they would be a bit more exciting and less death.

I really love WvWvW and probably the main reason I wanted GW2 but with the long queues and once you get in half the players are trying to take a fort solo, doing the jumping puzzle, or exploring the map it can lose its fun factor since you can barely fight outside your spawning area. Then there’s some nights that you get in instantly, everyone is working together towards taking the map, people understand the basics of WvWvW and are great fun for hours on end.

If this ever happens try this (giving example) it’ll sound a bit more confusing than it really is.

In your case everyone would sit in the Black Citadel then remake party. The person who would start handing out invites would be someone new that hasn’t entered in the dungeon first(Player 1 we’ll call him). Then once all in a group, Player 1 enters into Plains of Ashford.

If he gets a popup to enter the instance, click decline, then have him go back to Black Citadel and then back to Plains of Ashford. He shouldn’t get an instance popup now. If he does, have someone else be the host.

Then have your other party members zone into Plains of Ashford. Make sure everyone is next to each other once they get into Plains of Ashford and they click decline on the popup if they get one. If you can all see each other(if not, have them go back into citadel and then back in until they do), have player 1 tele to the waypoint and enter the dungeon. If you are not all in the same overflow/zone don’t bother trying to get into the dungeon. All other players should now get a message to join the instance which they click yes to. Now you should all be next to each other in the Dungeon and have a fun adventure. If a player does not get a popup after Player 1 enters the dungeon, have them go back to the citadel and then back to plains of ashford and this should trigger it.

Used this a few times and seems to work flawlessly when the grouping bug happens. Occasionally you’ll get 1 person who can’t see the rest even after several tries but if that’s the case try kicking and re-inviting them while they are in the citadel and have them try again. The best case scenario is if you all get out of the overflow and into the main zone.

I’d say this is on the borderline of a bug/functionality of what was intended. If you place a mortar you can’t take back control of it if someone else takes control like siege weapons. Too often in WvWvW, I’ll place it just for it to immediately be taken by someone else…whoohooo best use of my elite skill.

Also when using mortar while standing on a wall/ledge the rounds will explode immediately as I launch them. There doesn’t look like anything is in the way but apparently there is. No other spell effects are going on around me.

Noticed when I sometimes use Jump Shot the landing can take a few extra seconds if the person/monster I’m using it on seems to move directly under where I am to land. It’s like my character is stuck for a brief moment in the landing phase trying to figure out where to go.

Overcharged Shot doesn’t all the time cure being immobilized. Trying to figure out if it’s a certain spell that’s causing this. I get knocked down but I’m still stuck in place and the immobilization is still going. Also noticed that if a selected enemy player moves out of range/to the side of me just as I hit overcharged shot nothing happens but I get a cool down.

Just adding that the same thing happened to me as well. 4 Level 26 blues, and 1 level 61 green all beyond worthless.
