If anything, server selects people to ping bomb and knocks out there connection and conspiracy of whose going to win WTS and whose not. Highly doubt this. Although I was raised in gaming of Quake 1 era and that’s when people would ping bomb kitten out of other people to win games. None of you young bloods know anything about that. Its not even done/used anymore, so I don’t think anet is doing that to you.

They just need a pause feature, simple fix towards people disconnecting and keeping game fair.
If everyone is having good connection and a few select people aren’t, than it’s the client end and not server.

Both myself and muffinz also played thief during the finals. I think sharks ran a thief too? Not sure exactly, but at least 3 of the 8 ran thieves.

The “Tournament of Glory” event in the top right can actually be clicked and takes you to the stream. I’ll do a better job of making that more clear the next time I get a batch of these implemented. All in all, I think it was a great start and a great test for the system.

The “yellow text” system alert is not something we want to use for these events, as those are broadcasted across the entire game, regardless of if you’re in a dungeon, doing living world, or whatnot. We want it to be as noninvasive as possible. Someone mentioned having an NPC in the Heart of the Mists that shouts upcoming events, and I think it’s an interesting idea. I’ll bring it up with the team.

Yeah we’ve scrimmed Blacklisted often in the past, too. I definitely remember Steb and Zeromis both diving me, on our ledge in Graveyard (Foefire) but they didn’t do it at the same time, so they both failed, and I think Steb went into the downed state.

We haven’t scrimmed you guys in over a year, and we didn’t have zero then, we had mila and spoons the one time I recall our teams fighting in a random team queue. And Rar basically ran a muck on us. lol

Either way, your still getting an aoe burn for 4s+ every time you heal, that alone is strong as kitten, when your heal also blast finishes, aoe heals and clenses, and has the highest healing per second. Balth is still run by several engi’s, though strength is also an insanely strong option when you have 0s swap cooldown, and can get the swap buff instantly, every time it’s off CD.

The fact you think engi isn’t overpowered is hysterical though.

Op compared to what though? Engi comparing himslef to Celest might stacking Ele, might stacking hambow/axebow Wars, and Necros, might have a different pov than a thief comparing himself to an Engi.

Compered to the game in it’s entirety. It brings too much to the table, has a counter for everything, and has a solution for nearly any problem (both offensive and defensive) aside from condi transfer.

It’s good in nearly every situation, and has virtually no weaknesses (again, with the exception of condi transfer). It has everything, and sacrifices nothing, that’s literally a textbook definition of overpowered. There’s no trade-off or balance.

Chaith please, Let’s be real here, Engineer is obscenely broken, regardless of the class it’s fighting against, the only thing that even remotely counters it is a decent terrormancer. When I get bored I roll around on engi in yolo-queue and faceroll with little to no practice.

Let’s play the “How do we know its broken game” All logical reasons aside (because I could make an obscenely large list of reasons), you can simply enter a yoloqueue and see 3+ engi’s per team, and you have your answer.

While I feel your taking good steps to achieve this Grouch, Overall, the lack of advertisement on several platforms to build a viewer-base for tournaments with the plethora of outlets, platforms, and means available to Anet is astonishing, and quite frankly, inexcusable. I could understand if it was a third party like someone like blu trying to get the word out and not having piles of tools and platforms and even a captive audience to advertise to.

But we’re talking the developers of the game, and This wouldn’t be the first time, I have to agree with Eura here, I’ve had to scavange through threads, or even go to the website with brackets to find postings for where to find the stream for the pvp event.

Why are the leaderboards hidden under a tabbed link on the front page that any normal person, visiting the site, player, or otherwise, would be completely unaware of unless otherwise directed to, or out of just by accident.

Why do I not see a huge blowout advertisement on the front page of guildwars2.com any time a pvp event is going on with an art banner to draw attention.

Why did I have to hear “Scarlets minions are attacking!” 100000x times, but have yet to see a single in game shout out to a tournament (or see advertisements in the black lion trading post) Or really anything to utilize the tens of thousands of players constantly logged into the game every day to watch your tournaments.

Why are we not sending out more press releases to places like kokatu, ign and mmorpg.com (I do remember seeing some mmorpg postings a while back for tournaments, but it’s been a while).

We constantly are told “The forums only represent a small fraction of the playerbase” and then for events the dev’s hand us a small forum announcement that goes away after you switch pages once.

I feel like most of this is common sense, and should be standard, and because of that, I can understand Eura’s frustration.

It feels like a lot of poor excuses, a lack of focus care, or direction from upper management in the company and an exceptionally asinine waste of available resources.

Please don’t take this the wrong way Grouch, this isn’t aimed at you, I know you work hard and are doing everything you can to put things in the right direction, this is more of an overarching theme from before you even began working for Anet, and while your improving the situation, it feels like Anet owns a flower shop named “Best Flowers in town!” and they truly do have the best flowers in town, but with no signage on the building and the front door is locked and requires a password that only a few people know, but sells books out of the back of an unmarked grey van behind the shop for half price, and then follows up with “Why does no one buy our flowers?”

And yeah, I had no idea there was a tourny today either, I only found out from reading Eura’s ragepost.

If you really want an 8v8, buy a custom arena and make one.

Because 8v8’s were nothing but zergy cluster-kittens where no-one could see what was going on, people didn’t even play the control points, and people couldn’t even learn to play the game because of this environment, let alone learn what other players were doing or how to react to it. It was just a hot mess, and it’s better for everyone now that it’s gone.

Just wanted to drop in and say there was a palpable change in the high end community overall. Tonight the weekly MP 2v2’s took place. It was so much kittening fun, it was exciting, hilarious, a ton of fun, and overall just a really good time, with very little BM and everyone was quite well behaved. A few people actually took notice and said and I quote “Backpack was so much more fun to be around tonight without all the BM”. Yeah, that’s right, even backpack got props for not being a kitten.

Overall, very fun night, very cool, good job community, was a much less hostile and toxic environment, and even twitch viewers seemed to be much more receptive and excited, instead of brooding and bashing. This felt more Esports than the game has felt in over a year. Keep it up bros.

I think it would be awesome if people used this as a standard for solo-team queue as an impromptu way to get on voip with fellow playeres without all the hassle of setting up a static voip.

I do wish they had an in game voip option though, it shocks me that at this day and age we still rely on third party tools to achieve something that should be pretty much standard. The simple elegance of a mute button solves any problems / complaints most people would have in objection to it.

Some communities are better / worse than others. Unfortunately, GW2’s PvP scene is pretty toxic in general.

Blu, I feel that EVERYONE should be able to spectate high tier matches, and because they can’t, that falls on the job of the Authorized shoutcasters. People might get kitten, but lets be real, over what? Running cheese? No one really does that at high tier pvp, and even if they did, its cheese, it shouldn’t be promoted. They don’t want the world to see them lose sometimes? Oh lawdie, anything but that. The community needs to grow and evolve, and ASC have the ability to force that change.

Secondly, the game would get elevated to another level if we had someone actively, and with an unbiased hand streaming these matches each night. I feel like they need to open up the table for new players who wish to have ASC privileges again.

I feel everyone would benefit from the ASC system being used, we all asked for it, and we got it, and then people got cold feet and scared. Let skill determine the victor, not petty fear and cheesy strats.

I would be fine with you spectating, and sharing our builds etc with the world, I just don’t want us to be the only team, it needs to be a motion applied evenly across all top teams.

I think it’s a generational thing to be honest. I’ve noticed that the older (30+) gamers are usually respectful, competitive people but it’s the kiddies and the upcoming gamer generation that are the trash talkers, noob callers etc. I see it in nearly every game I play and it’s sad.

I’m not qualifying EVERYONE that is young as a trash talker, I’m just saying the problem seems to follow age lines and which generation of gamer people fall in.

I wish it were that simple, but it’s not. It’s stems from the community itself, I’ve played MMO’s for over a decade and a half, and there’s virtually no limitations or rhyme or reason to it. If the community is toxic, it does not discriminate, age, gender, race, etc. Toxicity breeds toxicity, and unhappy players (for whatever reason, lack of features etc) cause the toxicity in the first place.

Ever play eve? You’ll see toxic players all over the place, and the community is made up generally of the older generation of gamers. It’s easy to point the finger, but hard to accept responsibility, and that’s where it all begins.

Ego’s are not restricted or tempered with age.

Hi everyone, I wanted to talk a little today about the toxicity in the community, more specifically, at the top end of competitive play, and how it effects us individually, and how it effects the community as a whole.

Early in the games launch, there was a lot of respect for good players, teams, innovation, and a fair amount of respect for basically anyone, because everyone was learning, growing, and meeting new people. As the game aged, and players left, some bad development decisions, and unsatisfactory balance, many players slowly became toxic. I myself, am guilty of this, and have my own fair share of skeletons when it comes to being a kitten or BMing other players.

As high tier players, we should hold ourselves to higher standards, everyone who is at the upper level of competitive play and competes in tournys, all deserves to be there, they’ve worked hard, they’re displayed they have what it takes to compete and put on a good showing, and I feel that everyone deserves at least a basic level of respect, even if their not #1 ____ NA.

Too often, I hear people say the phrase _ is trash ____ is a garbage player _ is terrible. It’s constant, you can’t go a day of playing without hearing it 10 to 20 times. This is a core root of where the toxic community perpetuates itself. According to everyone, everyone is terrible, and people even talk kitten to players on their own teams, its gotten to the point of where players don’t even respect their own team-mates.

And this is why the NA community doesn’t have teams, it just has “Super Pugs” Because everyone is always putting each-other down, talking badly about each-other, and disrespecting each-other during, or at the end of matches. No one want’s to play with a “baddie” but according to everyone, everyone’s a baddie.

The other night, our team was scrimming Uncivilized Roughboyz. And it was a hell of a lot of fun. Both teams were respectful, played hard, and learned from each-other, and at the end, there was no BM, no trash talking. Just good respectful competition, and it reminded me that this is how competition and good play is supposed to feel. It was actually awesome, we had so much fun, and learned a lot from doing it, I just wish team queue felt this way.

Players, teams, and even viewers, start talking trash about players, and teams when all we do is perpetuate the bullkitten, and its not good for anyone. We need to take our focus less off “winning immediately” and focus on finding players we enjoy playing with, and then building each-other up together to form a strong team.

Yes, it sucks to lose, yes, you may have a better skillset than a player, and lose to them, it’s called getting outplayed, get over it, and grow up, if you want to win, then earn it, and don’t be a kitten about it. Spreading the toxicity because your upset you lost, or because someone didn’t do what you wanted them to, isn’t going to do anything for us in the long, or short run of things.

As I said before, I’m guilty of my fair share of BM and calling players trash, etc. But that’s not fair, it’s not true, and starting today; I’m changing, I talked with my team and we are as a whole, going to change the way we interact with other players, teams, each-other and the community as a whole.

I really do have respect for everyone that competes, and everyone else should too, we all love playing guild wars 2 and that’s why we’re here. But the toxicity has to go, it’s been here for way too long, and no one wants to step up and own it, and help end it.

It’s easy as kitten to throw an insult, it’s hard to be a man and tell that motherkittener he did good, give that kitten a compliment, kittenes love compliments. And who knows, they might just give you one back.

You can be the best DPS in the world, but if your team isn’t peeling for you, or putting out enough pressure to down another target, your going to just get trashed, or be unable to safely burst a target. It’s always easy to blame the DPS when kitten doesn’t get done.

I’ve wanted this since the dawn of time. But ArenaNet wants a quick way for players to join and leave matches freely, but why join a match if your only going to play 2-3 minutes of it and bail? It just doesn’t really jive well, and it gives everyone playing hotjoin a horrible experience. And an unranked mode would be fantastic for testing builds etc, and it could still use MRR to match you, but just not impact it one way or another.

Custom Arena’s are exactly what hotjoins should be, custom rulesets etc.

There is no delay for authorized shoutcasters. If they are spectating your matches, they can literally talk to you in map chat as they observe in real time. If you watch them stream one, there is a delay because of the stream, not in game.

Correct, It’s just like normal spectating. Grouch often drops in and watches our matches from time to time, yells a few things at us, tells me I have bad manners, and then leaves.

This has only been asked for since before the dawn of time. Still waiting……

People would love it, I think it would encourage more people to try pvp, or farm solo queues which is good for everyone when we have more players actually playing.

I doubt ArenaNet will go for it, but I would love to see something like this, kinda a throwback to Zaishen keys in a sense as well.
