its seriously boring ioj/bp/yb, 3 weeks on a row. i mean come on…………..
not much anything going on wvw, only stupid blobs or nothing at all……. yuck
its like our opponent decided to forfeit the match and its disgusting by all means because we must actively looking for enemies (usually enemies come down to us, in blobs but now ……..)
i dont know if the 2 server is desperately trying to tank to bronze league or people are flocking to eotm for free kills (yes, i consider anything in beserker gear a free kill)

Stealth is it over powered

i think stealth is crucial mechanic for a mmorpg but thief in gw2 is overdid it.
it is a fatal design flaw (and i know people likes to exploits design flaw) and a really annoying as hell especially in wvw.
stealthing in combat should be very limited since it completely bonkers an encounter.
i actually know that during one combat a thief should die more than 8 times before actually died because of that kitten mechanic.
those people who defended stealth should know better. there is no risk in it, if things go bad you can just bail a fight and return when you have full health.

sure warrior and their nut-for-balls sneaker can run away and you cant catch em (which is hilarious, maybe we should call running warrior a janitor or something)
but they give a visible sign if they approach you again unlike thief that will just pop poison, run away till he have full health and fight you again or bail off. it is not fun for the people with light armor since even is you use tanky spec they hit you for 6 to 8k which is roughly 30% of hp and they can do so many times during a fight.

traited right stealth in thief give regen, cure condition, give power, swiftness etc etc
and they way the can easily exploited makes bad player look like good player and good player a pain in the kitten . and by the way most thief are very touchy about this subject proves that most of them are bad and cant have this kitten mechanic toned down in any way in order for them to continue playing (it is the cue for a major nerf hammer i say, gw2 is too forgiving for lousy player, looking at warriors and thieves)

i cant say the same about stealth for mesmer, although it is annoying with all the clones and phantasms + stealth in the end they always keeled over (and my wurm happily eat them over and over again) because their stealth are limited and the cool down are reasonably long so you can actually hit something other than air (or clones in this subject).

zerging is boring and stupid. it doesn’t improve your skill and its some kind of dumbing down the entire server (people tend to follow blue tacos everywhere even when the enemies invades their own tower and keep). not to mention it is not fun if you have sub par internet connection , not everybody have access to a fast and reliable internet connection.

if i want to run with sea of player i would rather join world boss train or something, much more rewarding than running with zerg in wvw.

the only thing that is fun with zerg is destroying one (its always hilarious how stupid people can be)

just remove the downed state all together from competitive game mode (spvp, wvw)
a net give too much mercy on bad player. downed state also give many advantage for a group since 2 people ressing a downed player = guaranteed rally (although i find this rather funny, i just spam aoe on the downed and i get 3 downed player)

if you want to remove zerg,blob,or whatever abomination you called it, it is rather simple

INTRODUCE AGONY TO ARROW CART SKILLS (if the attacker outnumbers the defender greatly such as local outmanned buff mention above)

REMOVE LOOT BAGS FROM TOWER AND KEEP CHAMPIONS (this have to be done, anet because this is the sole objective to most zergling blobbers or whatever you called those kittens)

that will significantly reduce blobbing zerging or whatever you called that

yeah,sure i can kill thief all right but then i only spend twice as long compared to other classes because it keep stealthing all the time. bet no one mention that in their post.

im not saying thief is the weakest amongst all classes, i just say you thieves “ACT” like you are the weakest and it sickens me. thieves are all very touchy when it it comes into stealth debates. from all classes only thief can efficiently abuse a single mechanic that is stealth (fear and torment is shared between some classes) and by abuse i mean really abuse it. the downtime from stealth in the middle of combat is really disruptive (at least when a warrior run away he is visible so you can see him run away and decide to chase or just ignore it)

must be so hard in wvw to have class with superior dps, superior mobility, very diruptive and abusable combat mechanics, and the ability to break combat ability to run anytime without any down side

You might as well suggest to delete the thief profession from the game. Without some major buffs in other areas such changes will completely destroy the profession and it will be in a far worse state than even the ranger, and that means something. Thieves are already so strong in the WvW meta, which is why you see so many zerging thieves /sarcasm.

yes, im suggesting to delete unskilled kitten thief as a profession
you complained about thief being so weak in wvw yet 20% population of wvw is thief determined it is a lie

currently there is only 2 way to detect stealth:
- stealth trap: expensive, clunky, resource wasting and with no guaranteed result in other word utterly useless
- arrow cart skill 4: well i never actually manage to stealth out a thief (or that i know of) since you cant bring arrow cart around and in siege condition most thief dies to bleed anyway

in gw2 its to easy to abuse stealth mechanic, especially with thief (mesmer can abuse stealth but i find it as a mild annoyance compared to the thief)
they say they would nerf the perma stealth mechanic (dont dont consider moving 100% stealth to 90% stealth a nerf)
people never mention any problem with stealth because most people play warrior or guard and cant hardy notice when they are hit by backstab and their attack cleave so if the thief still linger around it can be easily hit by the auto attack.

what i suggest:
- adding a revealed state each time after you use a stealth skill (2-4 second) that way you cant spam stealth and get way with it
- especially for thief make the heal (hide in shadow) only remove one condition. this is way to annoying since they can easily stealth+heal+regen+remove condition+recover initiative while hiding and the opponent only can madly aoe
- a simple way to counter stealth in combat just add a trail of glowing foot mark when stealthed in combat this way we can know where are they going

Condition damage in GW2 was a mistaken design. They should have made condition damage DoT like some other MMOs which means no ability to increase duration and damage would be keyed off Power/Precision just like direct damage. Players could increase total damage output but not the duration or frequency. Conditions would all be non-damaging such as those that effect movement, healing, etc.

This change would eliminate the need to have capped damage stacks, high damage would always come at a cost of being brittle and balancing DoT to direct damage would be much easier.

if a net made this change people will start overcrowding with engis and necros and the warrior you and a net love so much will be kittened so much, they will be almost extict

ITT I’m going to whine about various aspects of classes I consider OP or UP.

1. Warriors – Much has been said about Warriors and most is true. They are the fastest class in game, spam constant AoE CC and are by far the most useful class in large scale fights next to Guardians. No wonder most guilds and even random Pugs have pushed more and more of their members to re-roll Warriors. And why would they not? What role in large scale fights is not best filled by a Warrior? You can never have enough.

2. Guardians – Are the back-bone of zergs, just like Warriors. Their usefulness comes mainly from their support, not their actual skills. Just like Warriors they carry your zerg and have great skills (like Barrier and pull) to support it. Not really OP, but maybe a little too useful if you look at what little other classes bring to the table.

3. Necromancers – They get to bake the cake and eat it. 50k EHP, Stability , AoE and frequent CC….what more could a class possibly want? The most overpowered aspect though is undoubtedly the Dhuumfire condition build. A quick Terror followed by a Signet of Spite and it’s game over for almost every class. 3 seconds with your pants down and you’re dead. Great design, right there. So skillful…so fair, so much counter-play. Not even WoW was that bad with its Fear spam.

At least Warriors were up in your face with some fairly telegraphed moves before they CC-chained you to death.

4. Thief – High-risk/reward class when solo or in small groups and can be really frustrating to play against. It seems like a class built for griefing. I would complain about them more but in large scale combat often not more than a rally-bot for the enemy. With no Stability or Protection they die rally, really easily to random AoE damage. No wonder most of them get their kicks out of roaming, trolling and harassing. What else can they do?

5. Rangers – It seems like Rangers are the reversal of Necros in WvW. In sPvP, Necros are tough but manageable, while in WvW their Dhuumfire build is the epitome of opness. In sPvP Rangers are really, really strong but in WvW most seem to be fairly easy kills. While they don’t contribute greatly to zerg fights at least they have a good range and don’t serve as a rally bot.

6. Mesmer – “Let’s give all the amazing support skills to a single class” must have been a train of thought when designing the Mesmer. Maybe it was bias for it being an original “Guild Wars” class or maybe they designed it last, idk. Anyway somehow the clkitten up with most of the best support skills in game while many others have none. Again, it’s the support skills that carry the Mesmer in zerg fights. Their personal contribution is often very little. Their highlight is probably those few seconds they get to place Nullfield or Veil and the commence to create a lightshow that does nothing except ruins people’s PC performance. Seriously, without and Mesmers I think Guild Wars 2 would have to render 30% less effects and player-models.

In contrast, their popular solo build is a broken stealth-spam build. People complained about stealth-spaming Thieves, but at least that was only one thing to track. A Mesmer can spam stealth equally while hiding behind his Illusions and having his Phantasms eat away at you. Probably the most ridiculous small-scale class after the Necro but at least you can just run away from them if you don’t want to fight them for 15 minutes.

7. Elementalist – Don’t really have strong feelings about Elementalists any more. They used to be the gods of WvW a year ago but now they’re just average. Maybe they’re a good model to follow for other classes. Their moves are well-telegraphed, their builds make trade-offs. For every bit of offense they take they give up a tangible amount of defense. They can contribute to zergs and small scale fights, without carrying either. The only build I feel that breaks this otherwise balanced class is the combination of tanky builds with Conjured Weapons. The amount of pressure and sustain that can be combined in such a way is outside of the standard balance spectrum.

8. Engineer – The wildcard of classes. I’ve seen Engineers I’d consider greatly overpowered, mostly the tanky builds with lots of condition pressure. But for every such Engineer I encounter 5 others that put up reasonable fights without feeling overpowered. The high-pressure builds give up a fair amount of survivability to do so so I think, aside from the aforementioned bunker + condition spam build, that the class is fairly well-rounded.

wvw population declined? you must be joking………. (at least in my server)
the population of wvw in my server is nearly doubled overnight after the announcement of this week matchup. those kittens and fair weather methhead are breeding like rabbits in all maps.

at last after almost 3 month of hard matchup we finally got a very light one, but i honestly dont enjoy it because people are karma training everywhere and in the end you cant even get a decent fight if you dont join the zerg ( which is revolting)

would cause so many people to quit playing wvw… because of no reward and because people will have to pve to gather any kind of profit.

that is what a net wants. i think they want people to do any kind of content so they know the game as whole. that’s why they put living story in wvw.

about removing the champ bags, i absolutely agree this must be done asap. too many player leeching from the karma train and this is detrimental by all means.
- you dont improve your skill by karma training.
- karma training hogs majority of the player, this makes defenses vulnerable (sometimes its even fatal, because your server ended up losing everything because of one karma train) .
- negative play experience for the people that is outnumbered by the time.
- creates bigger problem (bandwagon , word population imbalance, etc)
people do wvw before the introduction of champion bags, and i bet people who likes wvw will continue doing wvw even if a net remove the bags. let those bag farmers return to its natural habitat (queensdale, frostgorge)

hmm what i dont feel anything from the change.
spinal shiver hit at 50% hp (and hit again usually when the warrior or guardian at 20% hp) making them a really kitten class to fight 1 vs 1.
enfeeble nerf? sure, but it didn’t affect much. still using that trait because nothing is funnier than glancing thief attack.
putrid mark nerf………….. this is really kitten but usually you only have 4-5 kind (well you cant stand on the wall anymore soaking conditions and throw em back to people below you and ask “are you still alive down there?”)
reanimator…….. please just remove this trait or move it to adept (some people like this trait since they use minion)
diamond skin……… well from my observation almost no ele use this trait and even if they use it it can be removed with 2 cycle of scepter 1 (if you use staff its your own loss) or doom.

on summary we really gain nothing from this patch while everbody else get something useful.

i suspect they really want to systematically eradicate necromancer from the game

i also got the chest and when i opened it i just laugh and move on. on regular wvw match up you dont get anything at the end of the match and here you complained on the free gift given to you (the achievement is easy and you can get the key within a 7 week period)
a net will never respond to such rant, so dont waste your time

so its time to make ascended armor and i am having a 2nd thought about it. i have all the material now im just waiting for the time gated one (32 bolt of damask…… kitten thats a lot)
which is better rabid or dire? currently i roll with all rabid (ascended weapon and trinket + exotic armor)

zerging is ruining wvw, wvw now is reduced to zergfest. some of you consider this fun i consider it distasteful. it mocks the server with less population, people that want to play wvw with strategy, people that roam to improve their skill, people with less optimal internet connection, and so on.

there is a simple and effective way to eliminate zerging and restore wvw to a state it is meant to be:

1. REMOVE CHAMPION BAGS FROM TOWER AND KEEP CHAMPION
this is the simplest and the most effective way to eliminate zerging. wvw now is a large champion bag farm operation. zergs will move from maps to maps to farm these bags, creating a negative play experience for other, but they doesn’t care since they come only for bags. by removing the bags it eliminate the unhealthy obsessions for bags and cull the zergs (the people that come for bags will be shifted back to frostgorge or queensdale)
2. GUARDS , TOWER AND KEEP CHAMPIONS NEED TO SCALE
capping tower is challenging with small groups, but it become a pve content when done with zergs. scaling the guards, tower and keep champions will make taking tower more challenging. now the guards and champions are too easy to kill, it didnt give enough time for the defending player to rally and defend the tower/keep.
3. GIVE MORE INCENTIVES TO DEFENDING TASK
defending task ( guard sentry, tower and camp, walk yak) are often neglected since people are more interested in joining the zerg to roll down enemies door. perhaps by giving more incentives to these task it will make more player do it.
4. INTRODUCE NEW SCORING SYSTEM
right now the scoring system only count the total amount of structure the player owned and times it with the point for the respective structure. this is favorable for people that zergs since i almost never encounter a tower that is defended after being attacked by zergs. by introducing scoring system that give minus point if your server failed to defend the tower that is not yours (each server have 4 tower and a keep at eb, and the bl) it will change the approach to wvw (-200 for each tower failed to defend and – 400 for each keep you failed to defend or something like that)

well this is certainly a raw thought and need much polishing. give your input here and let your thought be heard. becauses im tired of zergs ruining wvw (wvw is supposed to be a team game that focused on stategy not the server population)

thief is a design flaw from start.
in other mmo stealth has downsides (reduced movement speed, vulnerability to damage) in gw 2 stealth gives tremendous advantage (heal, movement speed, regeneration, remove condition, power , and many more)
in other mmo the use of stealth are really limited and the delay between skill use is long not to mention to use stealth in combat is considered an ultimate skill making the class is very hard to play and require tremendous amount of skill. in gw 2 you have too many stealth skill, no delay and you can use stealth skill in combat anytime you want making this class for kittens
in other mmo all jobs were given a skill to detect stealthed player. in gw2 you only have 2 options 1. stealth traps (clunky, not effective, waste of resources) 2. arrow cart skill 4 (hard to earned and useless since you rarely use this to catch thief)

i am just making a comparison between stealth class from common mmo and gw2
and despite of the staggering advantage thief is still one of the biggest dps class in game.

the point is i dont mind thief is perma stealth 90% of the time if their backstab and heartseeker only deal 2k damage (not 8k, not 12k, not 22k like someone suggested here)

i feel that condition damage is not enough punishing right now.

if you died because of condition damage its you dont blame anybody else. every class in the game currently have good condition removal. you just dont equip the skill or trait it.

dhummfire add the kick for condition necro. the problem is people tend to blame others and as necro they deemed us as free kill in wvw. i think all class pack a heavy condition removal now so why the hell are they complaining about a simple burn on necro? doesn’t fit the lore? how about changing it to 3 stacks of torment? (i bet people will scream harder if this happen).
condition can be easily removed. unlike direct damage + cc that you cant do anything about it

as i say this trait is not weak, but definitely not over powered either

can be abused imo if we know exactly is it power or healing power that affect the damage and heal from this signet and whether it can hit stealthed target. but then again consume condition is the still the best. maybe applicable in life steal build but life steal sucks last time i checked it.
dont hope too much on this one, maybe it is going to be those minion mancer bots favorite heal skill.

do you think my server rules? my server is a bunch of sorry kittens that doesn’t know anything to do if there is no blue tacos on the field (yeah IOJ, i am pointing finger at you) and during that 7 weeks the commanders seems like vanishes into thin air (“seems” because i know that they are there but refuse to tag up because there is no zergs going so they gain nothing by tagging up)
but that conditions doesn’t prevent me from going into wvw. taking camps, sentries solo and solo tower occasionally (i know its hard to believe but i have to go that far since kittens only want bags from champions)
what matters is you, if you dont enjoy it get the hell out of there.

overall season 1 is a fail and if there is another season 2, 3, 4 and so, they will fail unless a net balances and fix the zergfest known as wvw now (however the prize of season 1 is so epic i think the devs that make this happen is a genius)

i also get the same reward, rubbish really but i dont mind because along the 7 week long season i gained 100+ wvw level, 12 exotics drops, 8% passive magic find, bags from champions, tons of materials and gold, some achievement point, in game skill and experience and most precious of all i get to read complaints about rewards like this.

i would say i am blessed with the rewards cannot say the same about you

wvw this season is surprisingly not a disappointment. the sweet tears of kittens and band wagoners everywhere is the only redeeming factor for this season. i say they deserve it and this reward is priceless to me. i didn’t imagine it would be this comical but it turn out people are so “entitled” to good rewards for almost ZERO effort whatsoever ( i have to do most of the achievement myself but in the end they worth it)
thank you a net for the rewards and dont bother making season 2 because most player will expect bigger reward as a compensation for the season 1 reward instead try to focus on the balancing for wvw and spvp and stop with the scarlet thing (its not going to happen, we expect elder dragons not some juvenile vegetable as the villain)

a net put the shinies in wvw just enough for armor repair, buy siege and upgrade tower. if you want shinies go pve.
dont bring your casual pve champion farm to wvw because it mocks people who really want a serious game that feature strategy and not getting devoured by mindless blob (seriously a net should consider removing bags from all tower and keep champion so the kittens will return to queensdale and their pathetic farm routine)

nah no need to change the reward. it is already appropriate.

people are complaining because most of them pay 1800 gems for a bunch of dolyak finisher (hilarious! ROFL)
you dont get rewarded in the end of regular wvw matches so why all the complain over free gift? you think you are the only one completing the achievement? everybody complete the achievement. the reward is server wide and you expect luxurious item like precursor or tons of gold? its your own fault then, i posted about the rewards since before the league begin and i feel satisfied about it now since it is worse than i expected
thank you a net for the reward and this should teach many people to stop bandwagoning winning server whenever they can (10 min wvw queue is not acceptable by my standard, 2 hours? ………… better close the game or do something more fun)

i am very satisfied with the reward of S1. it is the only redeeming quality that wvw season 1 have.
those band wagon people are furious. and i found that funny since before the season 1 start i already stated that the reward will be so terrible people who transfer for reward will be wailing for the money (1800 gems lol lol lol and another 1800 gems once they realized 2 hours of queue time is not exactly what they want)

to be honest there is nothing to be complained about. you don’t get anything from wvw match win before the season so why complain over free gift.
the achievement is hard? hah? really?
if you cant get the key because you only play on weekend or have issues on rl dont blame others for that. i got the key at the end of week 1 and i don’t even zerg (doesnt mean anything but if you cant complete the achievement in 7 weeks it seems that you dont represent your server enough)

well doesn’t work well in wvw (unless you pop it under a massive size zergs) because normal people are still human (no matter how stupid they look) and will roll out the well as soon as you pop it.
dagger is by far better than axe since it have immobilize which is the only thing that make wells viable. but dagger range are so restrictive and syphon live is somewhat a kitten to make it worth it.
this build relied on team play and you will be a kitten if you are somewhat lagging behind your zerg. i personally think a wellomancer should sport staff (more aoe, more utilities)
tried it once, didn’t like it since it is very dependent to other people and in a pug zerg you will be always left behind

if it is for damage then go lich form.
for me i always use plague form as elite, very handy to escape those near death experience and necro doesn’t need an elite for bosses imo

do you think i don’t try other combination? i have tried others but in the end i keep getting snagged back into spectral walk, signet of locust and epidemic.
not equipping signet of locust is one of many reason many people complain about warrior (you move faster in combat one of the reason in equip it in the 1st place)
spectral walk is there to get to places ( if you said use warhorn, you are one of the necro i use frequently as a floor mat)
epidemic……….. nuff said

i roam alone and by alone i mean all by yourself so i need a build that have very high mobility and i am forced to use those utility as a result. other class doesn’t need too waste so much utility slot on mobility skill ( i waste 2 and i am not as fast as warrior, mesmer or thief) and that is a problem we have as a necro

(1600 hours on one profession doesn’t make you know everything)

i play necro and roam alone all the time and most people run away when they see me because i have owned them too many times so they tend to stay away.

it is true that the most irritating aspect of playing a necro is that other class can disengage easily but we cant (have to waste 2 slot for utilites for locust signet and spectral walk just to keep up + one irreplaceable slot for epidemic virtually giving us no other choice for utilities) and a net is not going to fix that anytime soon. so i guess we have to deal with it. bad (or good) thing about necro is we always endure no matter what nerfs they throw at us.

nah i would say it wont affect us much.
sure staff 4 nerf is just a net being kitten, and enfeebling blood when ds nerf is not really necessary. but 50% spinal shivers is tend to be quite a blow out since when they reach 25% it usually trigger again.
anyway just wait until official patch not released then we can truly know if a net is trying to eradicate necros systematically or not.

they wont approve this, although i agree dark path need some improving since it is too kitten easy to dodge and not effective as a mobility skill at its intended range (you don’t need to dodge it just move left or right to evade them making this skill only effective at 0-600 range)

the reason they win is because they have really huge numbers compared to other and i don’t think that represent actual server capabilities.
one of the reason the badwagon start is because a net promise a prize based on server performance and people are stupid so they expect a pot of gold at the end of rainbow. i believe in the end of rainbow you only got crappy cereals.
i wouldn’t move to gold server even if someone is willing to pay the transfer cost and expenses since i am aware that moving to stacked server do more harm (bloated wvw queue time, lag, and many things) than good(i cant think of anything good here, win wvw match every week?).
my server performance is lame (yeah IOJ you sucks) but i wouldn’t consider moving to another server since my personal performance is rather good (gained over 100 wvw lv since the league started, not bad considering i mostly roam alone).

in the end it’s up to the people, if you want to win every wvw (i would say mob vs tower) match based on some vague information and false sense of pride go to stacked server.
if you want to play smart and improve your in game skills then go to less populated one.
if you want to be a hero, go to server with no population
or you can just swarm the world bosses and be content with it
