Anyone know this medium leg gear?

Well… after looking in the pvp armor, the chest is indeed whispers but somehow those are vigil leggings… So I don’t know how that’s possible.

Well none of that is Vigil. The chest, shoulders, and maybe boots are Whispers.

Well after awhile of searching, I’ve come up short. The only thing I found that I couldn’t really follow up is that someone said they found a piece in the chest after the Claw of Jormag event.

I’ll keep looking and get back to you if I find out anything else.

Whenever previews are added for the trading post, finding the names of armor sohuld become a lot easier.

How do boons interact with their opposite conditions?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Streyiken.7239

Streyiken.7239

Swiftness is 33% while chilled is -50% movement speed. 100(neutral)33-50=83

So you would be at 23% less than normal movement speed.

Immobilize overrides any other movement affecting conditions/boons.

Just wondering if a developer Q&A would be in the realm of possibility.

For instance, one day a week the developers could answer a couple, let’s say 5, questions that the GW2 players have. These questions could be entered in a particular sticky or subforum or something.

Does this idea hold any water?

The reason I play Norns is because a lot of their culture is influenced by Norse mythology which is a subject area that I love.

That and nomadic/borderline-barbaric cultures are fun. That’s why I loved the Luxons. I hope they return.

This may help some of you:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gathering_tools

Personally, I do not mind using orichalcum grade tools for harvesting everything because 4s per tool really isn’t too hard to get. That way I don’t have to bother figuring out whether they will work on a node ore not. By the time I’ve gathered everything I could with that tool’s 100 uses, I can sell those materials for plenty more than the original cost of the tool if I want to.

As an added benefit, I believe orichalcum grade tools have the highest increase in chance of getting items such as crystals from nodes.

This Game Needs to be Harder

For those that haven’t played the first GW.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hard_mode

but basicly:
Differences from normal mode
Vanquished areas and completed missions in hard mode.

Foes in hard mode are stronger than their normal mode counterparts:

Are at higher levels.
Every level gained translates to 20 more health and roughly 5% more skill damage (see damage calculation).
They do not gain an armor bonus for their increased level:
Foes that are below level 20 in normal mode will have a base armor of 60 in hard mode.
Foes that are above level 20 in normal mode will have the same armor in both modes.
Have 20 more maximum health for every level above 20, in addition to the health bonus mentioned above.
Have higher attributes.
Move and attack 33-50% faster.
Have reduced activation times for skills that normally take 2 seconds or longer to activate.
Have expanded skill sets; non-boss foes get an elite skill.

Foes in hard mode use a superior AI:

Respond more quickly to area damage over time.
Are more likely to fight for longer periods of time.
Are less likely to ball around a single target if more targets are available.
Are more likely to kite for long periods of time.
Will not activate skills that increase attack speed with no other benefit.

In addition to the foes being more difficult to defeat,

Resurrection Shrines will not work if every party member has 60% Death Penalty; a wipe will return your party to the last town or outpost.
Chests opened by keys are replaced by Locked Chests (requiring Lockpicks); in Eye of the North, the Locked Chests are more likely to break picks.
Foes are more likely to drop rare items and have a chance to drop tomes of their profession.
Hard mode quests can only be completed while playing in hard mode.

There are additional differences in certain explorable areas, including:

In The Underworld and The Fissure of Woe, foes can have greater innate health regeneration at the expense of lowered health.
Some foes will only spawn in hard mode and some groups will spawn in greater numbers (e.g. during the War in Kryta).
Enemy reinforcements can spawn more quickly (e.g. during Assault on the Stronghold).

I believe that a lot of those differences are something you all would be interested in. Yes?

@Knote The hard mode in GW1 didn’t make end-game maps all that much harder but it did make the earlier maps significantly more challenging. The rise in difficulty of hard mode followed an exponential decay as you approached end-game.

@RLD Also hard mode in the first GW was purely optional.

If HM was to be reinstated, I think everyone would win.

If Hardmode worked like Overflow I think it could be pretty awesome.

Could you elaborate please?

Thanks, I’ll look into that. However, I would prefer to stay away from gem store items if possible.

Legendaries should be account bound and not soul bound.

Streyiken.7239

Soulbound forces you to get more gear. In an extreme case, if equipment were account bound, you could share three sets of armor (one per armor class) between all eight of your characters (one character per profession), transferring them as you relog – especially easy with a permanent mobile bank access item, though if you have one or more of those you’re probably rich enough to have all your characters geared. Even without one, going to LA is free and doesn’t take much time depending on your PC.

In a more practical, hassle-free case, you could have three sets of armor per armor class – condition lean, power lean, and mfind. Normally you’d need these three types on a single character (since most classes have both a viable power and a viable condition spec, and magic find is useful for event farming). Without soulbound, you could just give the condition lean to your ele, the power to your necro, and go event farming with your mesmer. If you decide to swap builds, it’s as simple as moving the armors around.

Well that’s a good case for armor. Now what about in regards to weapons?

@Fozee, I believe WoW and even D3 are doing much more in terms of communicating with their player base with patch previews, their goals for the game going forward and thoughtful blog posts from their lead game designers like Ghostcrawler. Everyone can improve, and I believe ANet can too.

@Streyiken, I don’t want things fixed overnight, I just want to know what options they are considering to fix certain issues, as well as their thoughts on the matter.

Valid point. I do hope they keep us updated on what actions are being taken to address particular issues when they’ve decided upon an action.

I guess my post was more directed at some of the more negative criticism of how A-Net does things and the quality of the game they have produced.

You lost me at your misunderstanding of bots…..

I wouldn’t say that OP had a misunderstanding of bots.

I believe he means to make the monster AI be able to react in such a way that bots would be rendered incapable of dealing with said action therefore making them inefficient.

Will higher tiers of dyes ever be available?
(For example: exotic- introduces various applicable patterns; legendary-particle effects such as magma/lava, mist, or a slight glow)

And will dyes ever be able to be applied to weapons?
Personally I miss being able to have creative control over how my weapon’s cosmetics meshes with the rest of my character.

Over the past few days, I’ve been scanning the forums occasionally and it seems like a lot of people are giving A-Net flak for communication/feedback. Maybe they aren’t doing as well as they could but at the same time everyone needs to remember that the game hasn’t even been out for 2 months yet. The developers are still ironing outs tons of kinks to make it more enjoyable. Therefore, as we continue to move away from the release date, I believe we will continue more communication and just more advances made within and outside the game in general.

Anymore, games development doesn’t stop after release, but continues on afterwards. I know this will be the case with GW2. Relax, enjoy what you can, and watch the game continue to improve.

Months of Muscle Memory....

in Guardian

Posted by: Streyiken.7239

Streyiken.7239

Muscle memory develops from repeating the same action repetitively.
Therefore, if your muscle memory is causing you to use your skills incorrectly, then you have spent too much time repeating the exact same skill combination while you’ve been playing. The skills, in my understanding, are setup so that there are multiple ways of combining them. So my advice is to break habit and start changing your skill usage up. You may find yourself fighting more effectively.
