By the way I am SO STOKED about having glowy armour now, I’ve always felt it’s a shame for it not to glow, and now my dude looks super stellar in his armour! Makes our cultural armour far more unique than the other races (or should I say even more unique).
There is a point when you can step out of the ring even though the ring itself still appears to be there. Or am I dreaming?
I’d love to see it, but it feels like it was designed around being a universal secondary toolkit for multiple thief builds.
Using P/P as a thief was one of the things I looked forward to most before GW2 release, I hope they tweak it again soon.
It does look so very cool I hope they change it up soon.
This is an average player saying this, but with builds like the S/D I wouldn’t say I’ve got better at it because of my reaction speed, I’d say it was down to experience with it and knowing what skills your enemy is using for when to dodge. Also trying to be as tricky to read as possible.
With D/D (the one Yishi uses) it’s about knowing when to land the CnD so you don’t waste it! Timing rather than reactive…
Again this is just an average joe here!
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Anet for this update, these new map-wide events are fantastic fun. The event scaling is impressive too, with a group of 5-15 people you feel like you are making a real difference killing enemies, in a zerg of 50+ not so much, but it sure is epic!
WvW with 2 thieves is a lot of fun! In GW1 I was a Mesmer all the way but they just don’t feel as fun for me as a thief.
Scrap whatever thoughts on “will I be accepted in parties if I am X?” or “what class is the most efficient at X?” now as that isn’t what makes playing a class fun. Fun is what you need to consider if you are having a main!
Sounds like a 3 signet instagib build: put all your traits into increasing damage and run 3 signets that each give 5 might on use and you have a pretty decent burst.
Of course, you’re now running practically naked with no stun breakers or any other defense for that matter, but it’s fun so who cares? :P

EDIT: Looking at the builds posted before, I’ve never thought of running signet of malice as well. That would boost the spike even further, though I’m not a fan of losing the only non-C&D stealth
Still, you could do a 4 signet spike instead of 3 signet one
Super editing skills! Loved the 5 and 1 in time to the music.
What a fantastic vid, probably one of the best I’ve seen in instructional value due to the methodical run-through of all the classes.
I like playing my Thief regardless of whether playing another class is more efficient. I don’t enjoy games because I am efficient. Thieves are super fun to play as and they look badass!
I’m going to throw a curveball and say Sylvari! They can glow in the dark whatever colour you want, have really interesting cultural armor and all kinds of crazy skin colours.
But Asura thieves are kinda like (new…old?) Yoda with the evades, which is very cool.
Also Darksidhe I love the way you write your posts, they are almost like haikus.
“We attack a gate..some peaple are on watch. Not just at the keep”
I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the long stealths if other aspects were brought up to balance us out. But it’d still be cool to have short stealths just to break target and such. As long as a Thief is a slippery customer!
I’d suggest anyone having trouble with killing average Thieves (after all a good player will kill you because he is a good player) to play one for a while like someone said earlier. It will really help you see the weak points.
Also from personal experience it’s still fun to run with a zerg. Sure you aren’t as supporty as other classes, but if you don’t take part in the main clash of a zerg you can rack up the kills, and use the chaos to your advantage.
Reading this thread reminds me of why I like to play Thief!
and yes I do hiss when a Guardian’s Aegis blocks my attack :P (not that that is the end of me!)
Sweet vid, great choice in music for a showcase.
