rapid fire is 10 vuln now… i think it sounds like a pretty good change

It’s 1 vulnerability per shot. It’s 10 seconds of vulnerability spread out over 4.5 seconds. And that’s assuming all the shots hit. And even if they do, the first vulnerability is going to wear off before the last does, so it’s not a straight 10% damage increase like it was with Hunter’s Shot…my poor, dear Hunter’s Shot.

So your own build doesn’t work and you are to lazy to think of a new one adapting the crit chance, stealth and so one ? Well that’s bad for you, than you will never be good at this classl

25 point minor fire trait: Upon attuning to fire, make a smoke field around you.

Makes way more sense than shooting someone with an arrow and suddenly, stealth!

Acutally ranger stealth on arrow makes a lot of sense. Especially in terms of lore and the help of nature.

I’m fairly sure that the shot has to land in order to stealth, so it won’t be an OP skill but a learn to play issue for you. Dodge the shot in order to prevent him from stealthing. Just adapt the new situation. Nothing OP here.

Among other benefits the stealth on hunters also let’s you cast the beginning of barrage without detection.

The bigger question is whether or not they will have to land an attack with Hunter’s Shot to go stealth.

Did you make it an in-combat skill-based stealth or a spammy-spammy 3 second stealth every 12 seconds regardless of the situation?

It’s no question, just read the notes : “This skill no longer applies vulnerability ON EACH HIT, but now grants the ranger stealth for 3 seconds.”

For all the FPS hungry people out there, I would suggest going out and mowing a few lawns on weekends, save up your money and buy a decent graphics card—Nvidia GTX580 or higher.

Maybe you can convince me but I’d hate to not have the option to run from a phastasm mesmer. Mesmer with high speed sounds likely OP IMHO. Convince me otherwise.

But you don’t have the option to run from (for example) a full zerk D/D elementalist, or a Heartseeker thief, or any of a number of other great 1v1 builds.

Use your clones and phantasms wisely and you can.

No. I hate how the trend is going in “The class has this, I want this too”, I like huuuuge differents in classes but this would just add up and we all would become more and more the same. If we talk about skills which involve movement you got a freaking portal, it won’t speed you up but adds a mechanic to your movement. And this is exactly how it should be.

Personally I’d like to see an increased amount of AP rewarded for the PvP achievements, they’re few in numbers and awards roughly the same amount of AP as PvE achievements while taking longer to obtain, aswell as more effort.
Take for example the WvW slayer achievement, 51 AP for 250.000 kills, which is kinda low considering the sheer amount of time and effort you will spend on acquiring these.
Same applies to the various “Champion <prof>” titles from tPvP which does take a significant amount of time to acquire, yet only rewards 35.

But other than that, remember that you get APs for doing the living story aswell, and the agent of entropy grants you 2 for every 200 items you salvage(Oddly enough, salvaging pvp items in the mists doesn’t count towards this.)

Sure living story adds points but its nothing to work for in the long term since the biweekly change and frankly a lot of the achievements are done very quickly. I was more of thinking of integrating the existing World a lot more, since this would add something to do, would fill the maps eventually (if the system and of course reward is right) and it would make the dailies way less reliant, which again I think they are way too reliant.

So I love that we get REAL rewards for archiving something in PvE, buuut imho it is still too dependent on daily and monthlies. I love the Idea of not waiting a day or a month to go further in collecting things. Yes once in a month I just want to sit down and play 10 hours and getting things. And not play 30 minutes and have to wait a day to continue. I don’t dislike dailies but imho it should be an addition and not a primary source.
If you calculate (Just PvE, without HoM and Events) points you will reach :

4091 AP this won’t even get you to the first 5000 chest.

As you see you are still heavily reliant on daily and monthlies. Which a lot of you may like, but I’m sure a lot also don’t like.
So why don’t extend on the Idea and make it waay less reliant on dailies and monthlies. I would love it, and it would be an opportunity to fill the quite empty PvE maps. What do you guys think, or even have a better Idea on where to go with APs ?

the class doesnt really matter that much when all you have to do is just tag bodies as you run passed them. balancing shouldnt be based on your zerg ball experience.

Idiotic statement of the day. Now GvG is “zerg ball experience”.

But he’s right.

Feel free to bring your guild to any guild nights hosted in EU servers and try to tell me with a straight face that class comp doesn’t matter.

I agree we do need at least something our Team and we can build around. The best thing I came up with is:
1.) Piercing arrows → Longbow or Short-bow (I change them up how I like)
2.) Double axe → Healing Spring → Whirling defense so you at least heal your blob a bit
Often a friend is setting up a fire combo field before we get income and I whirling defense into it. But that’s it. I would have a role besides dealing damage.
3.) Signet of Renewal
But the thing again like with all our Ranger skills, that’s just mediocre and there are classes who can do specific tasks 100 times better than we do.

I agree with OP, also you all should read again, he clearly said that the F1 and F3 are a waste of profession skills and should be macrod in other ways not that the skills are useless in general.
The worst is the F2 cast time and randomness, but we all know about it and talked about it, I doubt a-net will change this ever.

Some people like to dance, some to swim, some to run and SFR likes to blob. And if your blob is not above 70 my bag is constantly full. So everything’s fine hüehüe

Oh look, it’s the “X server blobs” comment again. I thought we all accepted that all servers blob when they have the numbers.

And our bags are rarely full because you keep going back to your waypoints the moment you see the slightest hint of a group of SFR.

Too bad, I loove my baggies, 20G in the last few days.. And if you are clearly more than double the amount of players why should we give you free loot? But your server got a few groups who play good games and its lovely to fight against them, you but seem to be a member of “THE BLOB” (next month in your cinema) hüehüehüe

The Idea with the F-Keys is the way to go imho. In this case we can blame our skill instead of an bad AI. Also we would feel more connected with the pet if we could controll it in a more direct manner. People would start to learn how to use the pet in a better way instead of ignoring it and leave it die without even trying.
Also there is way more to do with the ranger class, I think to give us more control with the F-Keys is a good step in the right direction. And if the F2 ability is popping more reliable and faster I can see myself doing pretty awesome stuff with it.

I think most of us already use the sword (or at least gave it a try). If I see a Ranger there are 2 major types. The new ones with longbow and some other random stuff and the ones with shortbow and sword + what ever, or axe + sword. Dunno if this is something special on the server I am one but I thinks that’s about it what I always see.

Rangers have their highs and lows like every other class. They have really good DPS, but they have to work at it a bit more than other classes like warrior or mesmer. It’s possible just not as easy.
As for ranger balance, we have frequent meetings about balance where we discuss that sort of stuff – I go to those meetings on behalf of dungeon content and to lend my experience with ranger knowledge.

I personally accept the tradeoff of damage for survivability (Can’t do damage if you’re dead). I tend to run a condition build using shortbow and sword\dagger, and focus on being supportive and holding aggro while keeping a steady output of DPS through conditions. Rangers have an incredible amount of evasion and damage mitigation if you are very focused and know when to use your skills and heals (prot on dodge roll, vigor on heals) means you can keep prot for when you mess up, and always have evasions ready. There are some very successful dungeon builds, but most of them aren’t DPS focused.
We’re working on ideas for making pets better in dungeons. There’s a list of reasons we can’t just tweak a number and call it good (it wouldn’t actually solve the problem), but it is something we are aware of and working on.
One of the things you have to think about, is how the game is played. If we buff rangers just for dungeons, than they are too strong for the open world. Considering I can solo most content in the open world by letting my pet tank, I feel ranger is very powerful outside of dungeons. We can’t have rangers that change based on PvP, open world, and dungeons because that gets too confusing for players and puts us on a slippery slope. Whatever we do to the ranger, it has to happen in both the open world and dungeons, so it requires more than just number tweaks. You see a lot of bots as rangers for that very reason – they are really strong open world classes, and buffing them for the sake of dungeons doesn’t work out to being a good fix.

I’m sorry but what ? Ranger and Support ? Good DPS ? Dungeon builds without good DPS .. sure, DPS is the only thing that matters in dungeons. Bots use Ranger because of the “strong” pets.. Yeah in Open World this might be true, but nearly no one does “Open World” besides of the Events to get the new loot chests with their 80s. Other than that the pet is so annoying it always stands in the imho worst position, no chance to avoid the income AOE. I’m glad for the responce but it feels like the ranger community is playing a different “ranger” than you are. I ALWAYS have to logg to my Mesmer if my guildis whant to do dungeons or fractals. And random groups only looking for Mesmers and Warriors or Guardians sometimes Eles. Don’t even try to find a random group with your ranger..

I am fairly new to the game , started out after the New Year. What are the rangers problem exacticly? I play a ranger as my main, and i think i have been having a solid run without too much problems. The only thing that annoys me is that i cant use the rifle weapon

“Commune with Nature” sounds actually pretty awesome now that there are the 25 player swords. And I agree totally the ranger is not a real help for the team, in WvW even worse than in sPvP. You’ll always hear “Do we have a mesmer,thief ect. for xy” But you never hear “Do we have a ranger for ..” in the WvW TS.. Just feels wrong.. <.<

They might be nice videos but to be honest in MOST (not all) of these videos the ranger is fighting unskilled or/and upscaled opponents, which is not that impressing but entertaining..

Yeah. A lot of the complaints about not being able to stow your pet would also go away if guard were changed to a F# command. You could make it stay in a targeted spot while you went elsewhere to do other things.

Exactly you shouldn’t have to loose one of your only → 3 <- Skills just to be able to use the pet. And worse even than the pet is just bad..

Learn to read.. I never said there is no build which is usefull in spvp. I just said that statements like “I can 1v1 (1v3)” are nonsence. The Ranger “update” is just bad as always. And other classes get lots of love again.

Just use 3 traps and you can literally kill anyone 1v1, even a bunker guardian.
And about the 60-75% spells being useless, that’s the same for many classes bro. This patch is just going to make a lot of people go to TERA and leave this embarassing “balance team” working on this game. How’s this even a “huge balance pvp update”?

“Why I hate stealth thiefs” A bit harsh, since most of them can’t rly hold up their stealth in a good way, but if they can, they are a rly pain in the *. He is no where near killing me ( I always had my spring ready), I am very near but he was always able to stealth away, regain health, and tried again.

I’m no where near good but still it was a long fight, although I raged a bit, it was still kinda funny and I thought I’d share it. I would love to hear critic on my play style from other fellow rangers.

In this Video I’m running a kinda standard heal build, but with the 30% more dmg on crit for my pet since I rly try to bring the pet in to the fight. In the beginning I forgot to press F1 after he went in stealth, but luckily I noticed this and set my pet to aggressive.

I also agree on that. Especially if you play SB / LB. Everything just looks the same which is sad if I look how awesome for example the animations for my ele can be.

When i stepped into the world of Guild Wars 2 i knew right away i wanted a ranger. But it was a HUGE ’’spoiler’’ to see what kind of pets are available. I mean, i wanted to see all the pets, discover them and search for them. It would have been MUCH more interesting to level up this class while being like ‘’OH SHIZ, I CAN TAME A FRIKKEN ALPINE WOLF!’’

Now i was like ‘’This place snow.. oh look, a Juvenile Wolf. Yay.’’

This was just giving me a list ‘’Oh heres some animals you can tame. Also they don’t resist you, for some unknown reason they just follow you.’’ AND removing any sense of accomplishment when you get yourself a new, trustworthy companion.

This would invite much more people and would keep them hooked for a longer period of time to this class. Sure there will be guides for pets like not but it would still give you a ’’bigger’’ sense of adventure. Specially when combining with these ’’unique’’ taming challenges.

I agree on that. I could imagine some npcs telling you something about the locations and/or how to tame them. And for the people who get annoyed by things like this, these people would/ and still can / simply google the locations. But for people who like to explore this could add a bit more fun to it

That’s just the wrong point to work on. Instead of work aroung certain things, they need to work on the actual problem.

I totally agree with you, but as John has written:

I made some changes to improve pets hitting moving targets in this upcoming build. I wouldn’t expect those changes to light the world on fire, but they have improved. There is more to be done in this area still but feedback on how much this upcoming change helped, once it is in, would be great.

You can realize that ANet will make small steps with balancing ranger(or any other class) and their pets – this takes time, a lot of time. Meanwhile I’ve came up with an idea to increase pets combat-uptime with very small cost and avoiding balance issues at the same time.

I know. But a good Ranger always knows how the pet is doing. And I actually would like to controll the flow of my pets myself. It is just one button to press. It’s great to work on solutions but this one is just one button press so in my eyes not really necessary.

Very true. It feels more like a moving skill machine than an actuall pet. It’s crazy that, if I would not name my pet, I wouldn’t even be able to say which one is mine and which one belongs to the other ranger when I’m in a large group.. I really would love to see some attachment here, or please some customization like dyes or armor… I don’t care what but please give us anything..
