The cultural Sylvari weapons vendor is in the grove, on the 1st level, you will see 3 sword icons near one another each one is a different tier (it is actually between the 1st and 2nd levels)
There are a few sets out there.
- Sylvari Racial armor (T1, T2 & T3, in light/medium/heavy)
- Nightmare Court armor (Twilight Arbor, light/medium/heavy)
- Druid’s Shoulderguard
- Fervid Censor & Desert Rose
Outfits
- Wedding Attire – this is themed based on race so is plan for Sylvari
Also Weapons
- Slyvari Racial T2 (Verdant, also obtainable in open world) & T3 (Warden, Karma only)
- Nightmare Court (Twilight Arbor)
- Dream (Twilight Arbor Aetherpath)
- Dreamthistle (Black Lion)
- Glittering (Black Lion)
- Ygdrasil & Druid’s Staff
- Kudzu (Legendary Longbow)
- Nevermore (HoT Legendary Staff)
Personally I also like
- Nature’s Oath & Harbringer outfits
- Wreath of Cooperation & various non-helmet headgear (Storm Eye, Wraith Mask, Glint’s etc.)
- Chaos Gloves
- Kessmer’s Staff, Chain Whip Sword, Majory’s Axe, Caithe’s Dagger
- Zenith Weapons
- Fractal Weapons
Some of the “natural” style things also go well, but many of them have colors that aren’t affected by dye channels and may affect how they will work for you specifically.
Claiming the guild hall isn’t so much a problem as making good use of the space they’re HUGE for low pop guilds. Seriously I’m in a guild of 1.0000001 (second person is in case I accidentally drop somehow), and while I don’t mind the work or the cost to get here, filling it is mind numbing. I want to be able to condense where all the STUFF is to something smaller maybe twice the size of the human housing instance. As it is my guild owns a small city!
Seriously though I don’t have many goals so a Guild Hall gives me something ELSE to work on besides just spending gold increasing the number of Plant themed armors in my Wardrobe / Costumes that I’m not using
I think the biggest part of ‘challenge’ to me is needing to be able to adapt.
I would rather a fight did not have a “rage timer” and rather, if you were failing to adapt to a mechanic, the boss would auto-recover to near the end of the previous stage. And there were things in place to prevent you from powering through to skip mechanics. This would mean you /have/ to accomplish objectives.
That being said, ‘hard’ as I count it is killing packs of HOT enemies. They can HURT, I never find killing the VB treasure mushroom an easy thing to do alone.
depends on the pre-purchase (be specific here, pre-orders can be canceled, pre-purchases are generally for good) package benefits.
I got everything I expected from this expansion. I like the new maps (although I wish adventures were personal unlock and stayed unlocked), and I like meta-events (although I wish they were slightly shorter, I don’t often have 2~3 hours to dedicate to a map unless I have a few days off). I have not tried raid’s yet, the problems there really are not Anet’s design but something I expected with the way players go about things. I do generally like fractal changes, not super fond of instabilities but I am looking forward to potential changes.
I think Masteries worked well, the story seemed somewhat short, I wish LS2 was bundled as part of HOT since that was really the story build up, rather than sold separately. I think if you account for both parts the story was quite long and did give you a chance to feel for the characters (although it was very drawn out between LS release & wait for Xpac).
tldr; I got what I expected, and what I paid for.
There are cleanses (which prevent them from doing further damage, because they’re GONE).
Immunity effects also will stop incoming conditions as well.
in PvE there’s break bars & resistance (100% immunity to conditions) as well.
I was lucky and was able to clear Lost Precepice with 3. Dragon Hunter, Tempest & Reaper. I don’t know what the Tempest & Reaper were using since they joined to help out through the LFP system.
You don’t need piles and piles of DPS, you do need to focus fire though. targeting the vine tenders and then the vine itself each time. The final fight is just a matter of not dying you should have plenty of time with it.
Obviously more damage is going to make it faster, but you need to survive against groups of HoT style enemies (think Octovine without armor to “hold” enemies away).
Personally I was using Zojja with Celestial trinkets. The best part though, is that you can try as many times as you need to so don’t worry if you don’t get it the first time!
Pretty sure you have 60s before the inaction time out, which is very short after that (15s?).
I would prefer if it was 300s (until doors started) and 60s (after doors start)
I may be way off on my times. I was under the impression that dual monitors was not a standard feature. If that is the case, i very likely would have opted for the lower cost, as I didn’t have any intentional plans for dual monitor.
My current computer desk is… about 2’ square end table. I have a small lap desk that I use for my mouse, and play from my couch. I don’t really have the space to do dual monitors without stacking them on top of one another, although if it sticks out the sides of the table that shouldn’t cause any problems.
I upgraded my machine last year (from Pentium D, board graphics)
to I7-4790 w/ Nvidia GTX 750 Ti
I don’t plan to upgrade the graphics card again for quite some time.
As far as what I play… GW2 & starcraft 2 are the only graphics intensive uses. I will connect my machine to my TV if I want to watch a movie (because I mean 49" 4k you can’t beat that). I also play some things on emulator (because it’s easier than wrangling my older game systems) and very old games.
I do like my wider monitor that I have now, although I could use it being just a Weee bit wider since often times if I want to run 2 programs I can’t really fit them both entirely on the screen at a resolution I’m happy with. So I was looking to be able to look nice, and be larger than what I currently use, at the same quality (which means I need more pixles if I’m going to get wider). These 2 programs will not both be games, however one might be a game + internet/files/etc. which I might find useful.
I’m 99% sure my video card doesn’t support dual video out, or I’d consider just getting a second monitor!
I’ve had my monitor for a long time, it’s actually about 10+ years old at this point. I’m looking to replace it (and improve on it) for a reasonable price. That being said I have a few problems.
- I don’t know what a reasonable price is
- I don’t know what brands are reliable these days
- I don’t know what’s worth it for the money
My current monitor is Gateway 19.5", 1440×900 (FPD1975W)
(( Link to Amazon )) http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-FPD1975W-Widescreen-High-Definition-Flat-Panel/dp/B000H2PMXQ
I did try connecting my PC to our new TV (LG 49" 4k), and daym did it look pretty. GW2 was tracking 40-50fps running around The Grove at max settings, I didn’t check combat… but I would think it can handle the load for a 2k/4k monitor at 30+ fps (which is fine for me)
I’m looking to get away under 500$ for the upgrade, but I’d also like to feel like it’s a substantial gain which will last me another 5-10 years.
I’m pretty sure I don’t want a curved monitor, and i don’t think I want a shiny one (I hate the glossy look on some TV’s, so just a guess). But I’d love some input on what brands are reliable (but you’re not spending ‘too’ much on the name) and what I should look for (or avoid) as far as the whole pile of features.
I don’t mean to say “Get gud”, but they aren’t as hard (generally) as you make out.
There are a few which are significantly harder to do solo, or with a group who is not paying attention to mechanics. But there are many commune, or easily solo able fights as well (I say easy because I’ve done it in nothing better than rare for any slot, more than once).
- Put up a Mentor/Commander tag when you’re on your way and say you’re going there. That will usually get you 1-2 (if not more) people interested.
- Put up a LFG about it (might get you another 1-2).
- Know the mechanics of the creature type you’re fighting (Vampire type puts a debuff on that heals him, dodge/LOS this attack and he’s a joke … Arrowheads roll when you’re on the side, and cone slam when you’re in front/behind, Balthazar’s flame explosion etc.)
- Know how to get to the HP, some people still need to be guided to them / don’t have some masteries
- Don’t fight with the meta …
- 19:~~ left in VB meta? don’t try and rush people to vampire, they want to do something else
- AB tarir prep challenges? great time to do a HP, but come back in time to help a lane
- DS – post dragon, there may not be a mesmer to portal you, there is limited time and lots to do
And above all, be patient. There are a lot of things going on in the new maps, do an event or adventure on your way/while you wait, gather EVERYTHING, practice killing a few things instead of trying to run by it all.
There are a few reason to rep a guild, there is (afaik) one reason for a guild to need you to Rep them.
Reasons you might want to Rep a guild
- Chat Channel Ping – you can only ping to your repped guild
- Access to Guild Hall features/functions (Merchants, Bank, Decorations, Harvesting, Upgrade-Deposit, etc.)
- Drop Guild upgrades (Banners, Feasts, etc.)
Reasons A guild needs you
- Guild Mission – Trek, have to be in the guild to credit finding the location for them
- Guild Mission – WvW
- Guild Mission – PvP
- Guild Tag identification
Reasons it doesn’t matter:
- Guild Mission – PvE (Challenge, Race, Puzzle, Bounty) : Personal & Guild rewards for these trigger even if players are not a member of the guild
- Influence, this is a retired resource
- Guild Hall jump, you can jump to any guild you are a member of’s guild hall for free from the interface even if you’re not repping that guild
- Guild Boon – you need to rep to get a guild boon, but you can change guild after w/o any penalty
I mean might not be a complete list but really outside of guild events (and people knowing your guild by tag) there isn’t a reason to force rep.
So I thought about the price.. I said no way! I thought about the price some more, I’m still not happy with it but I still might buy the set for the convenience.
1- Copper Fed Salvage Kit
2- Terrice / Airship Pass (if I end up buying one)
3- Home Portal Stone (if I end up buying one)
4-
5-
I wish the sale was
700gems = 1 slot
1400gems = 3 slots (purchase once/account)
That would make me feel more comfortable getting my feet wet than asking myself do I spend 3,500 gems if I like it after trying… or 2,800 but maybe not like it at all.
I had done my kill when most people were still in the teens for mastery points, and it was rare to see someone in the 50+ range, let alone 150. It CAN be done with an entire group without stealth detection. His massive damage cannot be dodged/blocked (it can only be canceled by defeating the break bar), however I believe it only targets up to 5 people. It will also only DOWN the target, and there is enough time between phases that downed-penalties get cleansed. So 8 or 9 people can kill him, as long as they rez each other and focus on not being dropped between stealth phases.
Also to note, the boss has a descriptor which says you should get Stealth Detection if you read by his health bar.
Why can’t I unlock tyria mastery’s through hot content?
Why Didn’t they add mastery’s related to fractals?
Why didn’t they add mastery’s related to dungeons or pvp?
Why didn’t they add mastery’s related to WvW?
1: Because Core Tyria is not HoT, which has it’s own mastery track.
2: They did, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists_
3a: Because the team is trying to discourage Dungeons outside of existing tokens > armor skins
3b: Because PvP doesn’t benefit from mastery
4: Because WvW doesn’t benefit from mastery
Thank you for everyone who helped get this cleared out!
I am actively trying to clear Lost Precipice atm (solo) .. any kind soul who would like to help would be appreciated.
Most of my characters have 60 slots
20 slot bag + 4×10 slot bags (basic, trash, crafting, invisible)
my ‘Main’ has max slots
If I want to play for more than an hour in the new maps I feel like I have to be on my main.
There are too many “key” type items you need to have.
- Silverwaste shovels, Bandit Keys, Greater Nightmare, Essence of Nightmare, Zerpherite lockpick, Bandit Skeleton Key (Silverwastes / Drytop)
- Pact Crowbar, Auric Key, Vial of Chak Acid, Machetes, Rata Novus Writ (HoT Maps)
- Mawdrey II, Herta, Princess (Ascended eaters)
- Food/Tuning Crystals
- Copper/Silver salvage (or plenty of basic kits)
- Unlimited gathering tools (or extra stacks of non-unlimited)
Now add to that all the variety of non-stacking container types which drop on new maps… and I just feel bogged down without really investing in bags for EVERY character to be playable. And even if I do now I’m constantly dragging things from one to another so they aren’t each carting around partial stacks.
tl;dr … we need a keyring. If it’s something which is used/gathered to open a chest, it should be stowed/account bound like dungeon tokens.
I would like to see a ‘LFG section on my map’ … which would include all parties where the leaders, were on the same map you were (any instance).
If this was the “home” screen and then the option was “open world-general” which showed all-maps basic LFG it would help so much.
I would be ok with something like this under a few conditions.
1: The player, and NOT the guild, determines what/if any they are donating any percentage of -raw gold- income.
2: You can donate to any number of guilds you currently are a member of
3: Guilds have no way of searching to see which members are donating.
-raw gold- includes
- direct drop gold from enemies
- gold earned in dungeons or events
- gold earned selling things to NPC merchants
does NOT include - any transactions with the trading post
- any mail transactions
- any guild stash deposits
While I respect that not everyone enjoys every game mode or part in that mode….
Adventures are (in general) not hard. Pick the easy ones
- Torch Tendrils (silver is very easy)
- Salvage pit (if you don’t get gold I don’t understand)
- Bugs in the Branches (gold takes some practice but again fairly easy)
- The floor is lava (silver is easy)
- Wings of Gold (Gold is easy)
- Drone Race (Gold is just knowing the path, silver is almost given away)
- Lay Line Run (Silver is easy, Gold is little bit of practice)
… that should get you 10+ Mastery points with very little work put in.
Verdant Brink:
Tendril Torchers – Silver
Fun: 3 (for some reason I can’t make the flamethrower jet display consistantly with any graphics settings in 32 or 64 bit)
Difficulty: 6
Would do again: 3
Bugs in the Branches – Gold
Fun: 7
Difficulty: 4
Would do again: 7
Flying Circus – no ranking
Fun: 2
Difficulty: 8 (tried a few times I just don’t understand it to get copper, having to watch a video to figure it out means it’s not my style)
Would do again: 2
Shooting Gallery – Silver
Fun: 1
Difficulty: 9
Would do again: 1 (I do not like action cam)
Salvage Pit – Gold
Fun: 5~8 (more people = more fun!)
Difficulty: 2
Would do again: 5
————————————————————————————————————————————-
Auric Basin:
The Floor Is Lava? – Silver
Fun: 6
Difficulty: 8-9
Would do again: 5
On Wings of Gold – Gold
Fun: 7
Difficulty: 1
Would do again: 8
Sanctum Scramble – Silver
Fun: 2
Difficulty: 7
Would do again: 2 (the fun would go way up if you could use dragon skills from glider)
Fallen Masks – Silver
Fun: 4
Difficulty: 10
Would do again: 3 (a bit more leniency would be nice)
A Fungus Among Us – Gold
Fun: 7
Difficulty: 7
Would do again: 7
————————————————————————————————————————————-
Tangled Depths:
The Ley-Line Run – Silver
Fun: 9
Difficulty: 3
Would do again: 9
Drone Race – Gold
Fun: 9
Difficulty: 3
Would do again: 9
Beetle Feast – Silver (best run was 28/30, and walked past 2 I didn’t see, totally possible)
Fun: 3~8 (fun with friends, frustrating solo)
Difficulty: 3
Would do again: 5
Haywire Punch-o-Matic Battle – Bronze
Fun: 2
Difficulty: 6
Would do again: 3 (it shouldn’t feel like I can do it faster if I took the suit off)
Scrap Rifle Field Test – Bronze
Fun: 4
Difficulty: 6
Would do again: 4 (I might be missing a gimmick to speed up the cooldown on the gun, but otherwise waiting is lame)
Maybe in the next update to Masteries, we could see a WvW like mastery for Racial skills.
- Increased damage against Veteran enemies
- Increased CC against break bars
- Increased duration when under the effects of “achievement eligible” (you’ll see these markers in personal story)
This would make them more useful in PvE and story instances where we could enjoy them more without them affecting PvP, and only having small impact on WvW (if any)
I did this without poison mastery, and there are a few places where it seemed like the hit boxes for the bramble vines were much larger than they should be. As above, stay left as far as you can with the last jump you should have plenty of time to make gold.
There were 2 big things about getting gold for me.
1: You can skip to the last WP, from the second to last. It cuts off a HUGE chunk of time if you can do it right.
2: Use the #2 skill the fewest number of times to be less buggy (my gold run I used it 3 times)
- first was after WP 1, before the waterfall to cut the walk around to the left
- second was after WP 5, the island to island hop
- third/last was after WP 7, jumping to WP 8 to finish
Skill 1 can be used in quite a few places to bypass needing to use skill 2 / aim small jumps
- twice after starting the adventure
- to get through the waterfall (requires learning where to start so the little hop keeps you on the platform)
- two times between the waterfall and checkpoint 4, one across the big room, second time for the 2nd/3rd set of falling ceiling
- after 4, on the way down the mushrooms to 5, you should be able to use it
- after 6, pointing toward 7 just be careful for slightly too tall obstructions that will waste your time with it.
I suppose that depends on what kind of progression you’re looking for. Meta events for Verdant Brink and Auric Basin take apx 2 hours start to finish (it seems I haven’t timed it)
VB – Nightfall/prep is 50min~, the bosses is 20min
AB – Defend Tarir/prep/loot is 50min~, the boss is 20min. Loot time is 10min~
I don’t know about Tangled Depths or Dragon Stand though.
VB & AB can both be fully explored in about 2~3 hours, longer obviously the first time (I’ve done them both 5 times now). Assuming you have Updraft (Lean Gliding is helpful), Wallows, Exalted Acceptance and Bouncing Mushrooms. Just to note some completion parts are locked behind meta-event (Wyvern Patriarch VB) (Hero point & POI AB) or Story completion (per character, POI & Vista in AB).
Adventures are always locked during meta-events, many of them however are unlocked at all other times (or much sooner in the event chains) I believe after a recent patch.
Adventures & Hero points can be completed each day for XP/chest rewards.
First time explore (go alts!) is also quite a bit of bonus XP as well as hero points toward unlocking their specialization.
Just me personally I have not yet learned Tangled Depths… so it takes much longer to do explore, and if you have any core explore done you don’t need the hero points here to unlock your spec. In addition to the above you will need poison mastery to finish exploring here.
All that being said. If you don’t have much time, start with doing the first 1-2 map events you find. This should get your participation up high enough to earn meta event rewards as the map progresses. Then go into doing exploration/hero points/adventures for daily XP. If the meta-event comes up you can take part in more events to build up your participation and gain more map currency.
with 100% core completion I have done Verdant & Auric for no reward with my Guardian. However doing it with alt-classes I have finished Verdant 4 times and gotten the chest … so yeah it’s that core completion not rewarding new maps =/
I’d prefer not to level another guardian to 80 just to do 1 map please!
I’ve seen plenty of good uses of the Mentor tag in HoT maps.
I’ve helped players with getting places and they ask me to tag up, having not spent 300g on a commander tag, I find it /very/ useful to have the mentor tag now.
If i’m not leading people for something I turn the stupid thing off I don’t need it on my own screen in the way of things.
I see a lot of complaints out there, and I know other people started their own threads and I could just tack on the bottom of one of theirs, but we need more happy posts here on the forums!
My main has been Guardian. Ascended Zerker (all weapons/armor/trinket), with various ascended trinkets or exotic armor/rune combos to use if needed. In Silverwastes I had to be careful of Terigriff packs, they just could put too much pressure on. In HoT there are still some dangers (rollers, raptors, smokescales) but the biggest part of the danger is if you just don’t confront the enemy!
I’ve given Reaper & Tempest a good play along with Dragonhunter. I think the elite specs so far provide a nice similarity to the class & new mechanics to enjoy. Since most of my alts don’t have 100% world completion seeing the cost go from 400 > 250 for elite unlock was great, not something I was worried about at 10pts/challenge, but still made it much faster to get enough in to start getting into the fray.
On that note, Hero challenges and generally exploring in central Tyria is pretty darned easy. Most of HoT that I’ve come across is solo-friendly (although it may require a mastery), however with full maps it’s nice to get stimied and have to call in the backup.
Map-wide events/chains… I get some kind of enjoyment with filling that progress bar. I like the timely rewards if for some reason you can’t stay until the end (although I have WAY too many crowbars heh). When doing the meta in Verdant I feel pressed for time to get everything done, but when doing other things it seems to last too long so from both sides of the coin it seems balanced. I know there are a few ways into the canopy during the day but I would like to see it made a bit easier. Auric Basin is getting organized as well, and aside from a few empty stretches (1-3 more waypoints that don’t get contested wouldn’t kill you!). I have yet to finish exploring either of the last two maps but they seem to be more complex and I would then assume more rewarding so I’m looking forward to it.
Masteries… it took about till my third unlocked skill that I understood how these worked. I wish exploration wasn’t gated behind them though. I would rather have mastery points gated but that’s me.
I look forward to getting down to know the rest of HoT and finishing up a few more masteries as I unlock and play with all my new elite specs!
And here I thought the Casuals were only 1 %
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I had fully unlocked Dragon Hunter before they rolled back the cost in Hero Points. Thanks to having 100% central Tyria completion and trying to get as much as I could while learning the layout / strategies on the maps I was playing on… along with finding people to help with those champion points! It just came along as I was playing.
I won’t say my 12 alts (9 sylvari counting my main one for every class, +1 of each race) will have it that easy, but even with the cost of 400 it’s not something I was dreading accomplishing. By the time I finished things up with my main and got alts out to HoT areas they would have all the masteries they needed to pick them up fairly easily.
All that being said, I think the change was a good thing. I do feel that some of the maps are quite off-putting if you aren’t ready to sit down and try and learn how it works without hand holding.
I have 2 guilds.
1: MY guild. It’s just me, I spent time/gold/effort to build it up so that I could make banners for myself and have access to a personal guild deep-cave. Rarely I might even activate a duration buff because I have some time off and want to make the most of it.
2: my social/event/etc. guild. It’s big, it’s shiny it’s doing well for itself, but most of the time I just don’t have the time to dedicate to it on their schedule.
I don’t mind that I can’t have a guild hall.
I do mind that I can’t complete a guild mission without having at least 3 people repping my guild (at least not for favor).
I do mind that I can’t make my own banners anymore.
I do mind that I can’t institute guild favor bonus’ anymore. I didn’t use many, but it was part of what I’d invested in.
I’m happy I still have my guild storage and I can still use that just like I could before. I just can’t do -anything- else.
@ Moonlit
There are some differences you’ll come to with kit-lighting v. practical lighting which can make a big difference in how you look.
I also often make my selections with the kit, then back out of the choice and try to ‘guess’ what armor/dye I want to complete the look. Then I have to re-open the kit see if it works … repeat.
It would be nice if you could change armor / dye while in the total makeover kit.
sounds like you want farmville added to GW2. There are enough farming sims out there, I don’t think we need it with GW2 if it’s only purpose is to perpetuate itself.
11 (13 later)
7 (9) Sylvari – one of every class
1 Asura – Thief
1 Char – Warrior
1 Norn – Ranger
1 Human – Elementalist
I started with 8 slots (one for each profession) + 1 for key farming. With HoT I got 2 more slots, and as I really like Sylvari I will have one of each prof. as Sylvari when I buy 2 more slots.
I came by my fondness for Sylvari (and Human as byproduct) in jumping puzzles, since I have a hard time judging jumps with Asura / Char / Norn
I don’t want to see F2P accounts with map chat access, however it would be nice if there was a F2P guild in the opening information.
They could use the guild chat to ask questions (and get spammed by F2P gold spammers) without needing map chat access, or a full-access guild.
My personal top 5:
- Bank Tabs – hoarding account/soul bound made easy
- Storage Expanded – hoarding materials made easy
- Extra Character Slots – now in your favorite profession
- Copper / Silver fed Salvage – convenience
- Infinite Gathering Tools – convenience
Those that didn’t make the cut:
- Total Makeover Kits – now with a new hairdo, essential if you really like your alts, but don’t want them looking the same to dig into the exclusive options.
- Extra Crafting License – no more jumping about wondering who had that skill at 400+/500. would be useless if craft skills were in the login screen.
- Home Instance Gathering Nodes – will you ever get your money back for them? nope! but still once a day to get some low-grade materials.
- Bag slots – I have them on my /main/ but they’re too expensive to get for everyone
- Skins/Outfits – personally only bought one, but they are a unique way to express yourself (until everyone is doing it!)
How about a way to use dungeon tokens to modify your already purchased Infinite tools?
like I really like the dreamthistle line, but there is only the logging axe! I would totally gather up 1,000 TA tokens to trade my Consortium harvesting sickle &/or Molten Alliance mining pick into a dreamthistle skin!
it wouldn’t be “creating” a new skin, or making them available in any other way. It would just be allowing more skin options.
Things I would /like/ to see:
- 1 Luxury package
- Spirit Shards, Tome of Knowledge, Dark Matter, Ascended Weapon/Armor recipes (choice)
- 1 Prized Black Lion Ticket
- Exchangeable for any 1 BLTC Weapon/Armor skin active or retired
- 1 Waypoint codex
- when used automatically unlocks all waypoints in all pre-HoT PvE maps for a character (no XP gained)
I really would like to see the prized ticket, and the Waypoint Codex would be something people will probably be VERY happy to have when Rev. comes out (for those who have been around a while) and will help alt-a-holics and PvP players with participating in PvE content (if they want) in the meantime.
You’ll never believe who I just spotted in Metrica Provice near the starter ember cave Vista, Gaile Gray.6029
Call out your sightings (if you want to I guess) so we can try and find these elusive huntsman watching over the beta test in game.
My personal build right now….
Weapon Hammer / Mace-Torch, Alternate Staff (travel) or Scepter (ranged)
- Honor (Invigorated Bullwark) (Empowering Might) (Writ of Persistence)
- Radiance (Inner Fire) (Radiant Fire) (Amplified Wrath)
- Virtues (Master of Consecrations) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
I use
- Shelter
- Purging Flames (Consecration) … Alternate is Wall of Reflection when needed
- Judges Intervention (Meditation) … Alternate is Hold the Line if I trait for “Pure of Voice”
- Stand Your Ground (Shout)
- Feel My Wrath (Shout) … Alt this with Renewed Focus if you need the block
Hammer (Zerker) (Accuracy 7% crit, Fire- AoE burst)
Mace (Zerker) (Accuracy 7% crit)
6/6 Ascended Zerker Armor (Ruby Orbs)
6/6 Ascended Zerker Accessories
…. Net Crit rate is 60%, +20% from Fury (high solo up-time)
Alternate set (need to make the armor still but I have most of the materials)
6/6 Ascended Celestial Armor (Trooper Runes)
6/6 Ascended Celestial Accessories
…. 540~ Condition damage, VoJ Passive burning +60%~ 500/stack-tick. I don’t know how much damage it would lose, but it would gain quite a bit of survivability and condition cleanse
Those are just my two cents with how I enjoy to play (or look forward to playing) in the new world!
The old build thread is filled with old information. So why not start a new thread right?
Information to start with
- I am a PURELY PvE player. I do some dungeons/fractals but am fairly (dare I say it) casual
- Symbolic Avenger is currently disabled
- Virtue of Justice is no longer fire/forget you often may lose damage activating it (solo)
Based on the trait lines, these are where I think the average player would find benefit spending their traits (for damage), based on your primary weapon of choice.
Greatsword:
- Radiance (Inner Fire) (Radiant Fire) (Amplified Wrath)
- Virtues (nothing) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
- Zeal (Fiery Wrath) (Zealous Blade) (Symbolic Avenger)
Hammer:
- Honor (nothing) (Empowering Might) (Writ of Persistence)
- Radiance (Inner Fire) (Radiant Fire) (Amplified Wrath)
- Virtues (nothing) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
Mace:
- Honor (Invigorated Bulwark) (Empowering Might) (Writ of Persistence)
- Radiance (Right Handed Strength) (Radiant Fire) (Amplified Wrath)
- Virtues (nothing) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
Sword:
- Radiance (Right Handed Strength) (Radiant Fire) (Amplified Wrath)
- Virtues (nothing) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
- Zeal (Fiery Wrath) (Blinding Jeopardy) (Symbolic Avenger)
Staff: (let’s be honest… party support / tagging)
- Honor (nothing) (Honorable Staff) (Writ of Persistence)
- Valor (Strength of the Fallen) (Communal Defenses) (Altruistic Healing)
- Virtues (nothing) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
Scepter: (let’s be honest… only for “I have to be ranged”)
- Radiance (Inner Fire) (Radiant Fire) (Amplified Wrath)
- Virtues (nothing) (Supreme Justice) (Permeating Wrath)
- Zeal (Fiery Wrath) (Blinding Jeopardy) (Symbolic Avenger)
Shouts:
- Honor (nothing) (nothing) (Pure of Voice)
Your points were spent to make a nearest approximation to the current build you had when the patch went live.
That involves a few things:
1: what support/healing/elite skill(s) were you using at the time? need to spend points to unlock all of those again
2: what trait line(s) were you using at the time? need to spend points to unlock all of those again
after that remaining things were left un-spent (I had level 80’s who could afford fully unlock that were not)
If you are level 80 you can buy everything (and likely to spare).
If you are sub-80, you will /soon/ be able to buy everything
if you are unhappy with the build you have, you shouldn’t have been using it before the changes, because you have your nearest appx.
It looked like they said you would be able to get the guild-hall benefits in the communal area in Lion’s Arch where the guild hall event line starts from. If they are in a guild which has a guild hall anyway.
I currently have 2 guilds
1: my PvE, PvP, WvW guild
2: my personal storage guild
It was my intention to eventually be in 4 guilds, the last 2 being personal storage guilds of friends where we would do guild bounties (the low level one) to get cheep influence to continue to build our personal storage space. I don’t know how Guild Hall changes will feature into this, but hey we might end up doing it anyway if it helps advance our cause.
That being said, the /g1~5… I can see some larger guilds having sub-guilds
Guild – WvW squad
Guild – PvP squad
Guild – PvE squad (Dungeon, Rush, Challenge, etc.)
Guild – chat-squad
Guild – leader channel
bam your one guild now has chat channels! which coincidentally could knock you out of other casual guilds but allow you to focus on the members of your guild participating in what you’re doing, or the guild as a whole.
Good / Bad, I don’t know yet, but I’m willing to say it’s probably more good than bad, because hey you could just never use /g2~5 and you wouldn’t ever see the change.
I have 2 standards…
- Main : 150 slots
I love the space on my guardian. It lets me carry every weapon I want to use, along with a few extra armor/trinket sets, various food/potions… sit on materials (luck, bloodstone, dragonite), currency (Geode, Crests, Shovels, Sand) & event items (Nightmare Keys/shards, Tarnished Key, Bandit Keys, Zepherite … etc.)- -20 slot starter
- -20 slot (fractal green)
- -20 slot (fractal green)
- -20 slot (fractal rare)
- -20 slot crafting
- -20 slot junk
- -15 slot invisible
- -15 slot invisible
- Alts (all 7) : 60 slots
Most of my Alts I use for a dungeon here or there, or to change it up for a daily or gathering a map. There’s often nothing lost by just going to WvW to hit a quick vendor/dump inventory in bank tabs. Would more space be nice? sure, but they only have one equipment set (and not all of them even 80 exotic)- -20 slot starter
- -10 slot basic
- -10 slot crafting
- -10 slot junk
- -10 slot invisible
All that being said, I wish that bag slots were account wide.
I think they should come at/near the same cost as bank tabs then (600gems).
I think that people with bag slots currently on one/multiple characters, should be able to purchase an “account upgrade” which scales in cost (similar to the living story 2) based on the number of old bag slots they’d already purchased.
- 1 bag slot (700) (minimum 200 if some have been purchased)
- 3 bag slot package (1,900) (minimum 800 if some have been purchased)
- -100/bag slot (old) already purchased on the account
That’s just what I’m thinking…
currently 15$ for 1 character, this system would make it 15$ more to make it account wide. New accounts would be spending 25$ to upgrade.
yes this is normal. The Ascended back pieces take into account stat upgrades of a matching Gem/Sigil already.
I’ve crashed out twice in the last few hours, both of them in the silverwastes after VW. One of them while running out, the second time when trying to use a Waypoint.
Fractals use almost all that you mentioned
Pass the Hammer! (Cliffside)
Go up on the ledge and use the trap! (Dredge, AC, CoE)
Go up the ledges JP style (Raving Asura)
Survive the <mechanic>! (Mai Trin, Snowblind, Grawl, etc.)
Stealth though the <thing>! (every dungeon ever)
Could some of these mechanics be used more often? sure… some of them are even in the personal story I think (been a while since I did them).
Could there be a larger variety of “special” things like this? yeah there could! But it’s likely we’ll see more mini-events like SW with a few open world bosses with unique mechanics which at least is nicer than face tank ground pound!
