uh wouldn’t thief sword-dagger fit perfectly?
Exactly what I was thinking too. S/D Thief is high damage, high mobility with lots of evades and I think would fit perfectly. At least in PVP anyways.
Strangely enough, I just want future weapons to have ergonomic handles. They did a fantastic job early on in the game with the standard GS and Aureate GS… But as time went on, they started to use perfectly cylindrical grips. Which are a huge pet peeve of mine… Because cylindrical grips lead to glancing blows as a result of the user not being able to “feel” where the edge of their blade is facing.
That being said, for some strange reason I can suspend my disbelief for weapon shapes. Just not the handles. I can accept that my character has superhuman strength, but for some reason I can’t fathom them swinging their weapons comfortably. shrug
Some “casuals” enjoy difficult challenges too. Please stop equating “casual” to “bad” or “easy mode” for kittens sake. Many of us do not appreciate it.
This x1000. You can still be casual and good at the game. The two are not mutually exclusive.
I’ll still be casual, but also enjoying the raid content. And if I can’t find the time to commit to it, then I won’t feel entitled to the rewards. Let people have their shiny trophies and achievements for actual achievements. The game has so few of them.
Weapon Swap has been disabled across all professions and will not be coming back. We felt that this mechanic was too complex for some players.
Provide combat logs and we can probably deduce whether or not it was actually hacking. Also give us more information about your class, what amulet you’re running, etc.
All of my characters (except one) look exactly the same. Same face, height, hair, etc.
So I definitely have a “main,” just one that is proficient at every role when I need them to be.
I feel that way sometimes as well. But then I ask myself "what is gold used for? Do I actually need lots of it?
And for the most part… I find that I don’t really need it for anything! My characters (and yours) are probably sufficiently geared out for whatever their intended purpose is, and if I ever find a need for gold, there are plenty of sources. Plus, a goal is always nice to have. Guild Wars 2 without a goal is incredibly dull, wouldn’t you say?
Why? “Because reasons” is not a good reason. All content is equal, the developers spend time making the art and put it into the game for the players to have, why should some of it be locked behind specific content that only some players want to do, beyond that the developers arbitrarily chose to put it there? Why can’t they just choose differently?
Then what kind of content should also reward the legendary armor?
PVP tracks farmed in PVP farm arenas?
WvW ranks based on which server you are and if you play during the off-hours without any opposition?
SW chest farming that has you only press F?
Any world boss that has you only press 1 and win?
VW that you press 1 then go afk and win?
Champion farming that you press 1 and win?
DT that you don’t even have to play and win (wait for sandstorm)?Which content in the game qualifies for giving access to the highest quality armor in the game? If any of the above are used, the ascended market will crumble in an instant because everyone will have the legendary version. Those are just too easy, a certain limit in content needs to be added so not everyone has access to the gear, to keep the economy going and the market stable. Or if they really want to make it available with gold, it should cost the equal of at least 8 Ascended armor sets.
I’m all for alternatives, but alternatives need to be something other than content that can be done while watching a movie on a second monitor. Sadly, the game currently doesn’t have any such content, maybe they will add something with HoT and it will qualify.
I agree for the most part, except the bit about accessibility.
I think everything (including legendaries) should be accessible to everyone. That being said, I don’t think accessible needs to mean that it’s easy to get either. Especially not a legendary. I would imagine that a legendary item in a game would require an equally legendary task to be completed to attain the item. Enough so that the individual with the legendary could be said to be a legend themselves. Enough cheesiness from me.
Everyone should be able to try their hand at creating a legendary, but the challenge should be rigorous enough that it requires a squad full of people that have some measure of mastery over their class. This isn’t a stab at casuals either, because one can still be casual, but skilled.
Legendaries are so not-legendary right now. It would be great for HoT to change that and actually make them require some amazing feats / accomplishments to get. What better way than difficult content?
Strength – Berserker – Discipline ultimate YOLO pop or get popped build. Talk about risk vs reward…
Berserk + Taunt + Quickness -> 100b? Sure.
Tremor + Headbutt + Berserk + Quickness Decapitate + Hydroswap + Quickness WW? Heck yes.
Hype aside though— I don’t know how I’d feel about ditching Strength for Berserker. The damage multipliers in Strength are INCREDIBLY high. Between Berserker’s Power (20%), Slashing Power (10% GS), and Stick and Move (10%?), we lose a lot of flat damage in exchange for Primal Bursts and Berserk form.
Definitely can’t ditch discipline for berserker. Our weapons don’t offer enough flexibility to stay in one for 10s
And trading berserker for defense? Maybe in low MMR matches where you can just pub stomp.

I’m still not understanding why challenging content can’t and shouldn’t be awarded. As long as the content can be accessed by everyone, what’s the matter? If it’s cosmetic and therefore optional, why can’t it be rewarded for optional (challenging) content?
I don’t think it should be taboo for someone to want something to show for, especially after working hard at something / being skillful at something. Easy content has both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. Why suddenly is it that challenging content can only have intrinsic rewards?
It’s not as if ANet is going to take a complete 180 and make all content / rewards for the future only capable of being achieved by super skilled hardcore individuals. That would be suicide. I see them adding a little bit of challenging content as them taking a step towards adding more content for individuals of ALL skill levels. Because right now we have a lot of easy content. I’m glad they’re adding some content for the people who do want to be challenged.
As for the PvP fractal back piece… I’m no elite. But at the same time, I don’t see why I should be miffed that I wouldn’t be able to get it. It’s accessible, but optional. I can still try my hand at it. The only thing that prevents me from getting it is my own skill / willingness to try my hand at it. It’s reward for people who are willing to go a great distance and achieve something. I don’t feel entitled to it because the only thing that’s preventing me from getting it is me. And I don’t see why other people should feel entitled to it either.
I don’t think skins should be exclusive as a result of a limited time release— but I do think there should be some skins (not all) that are tied to actual feats of skill (challenging content).
That being said, it is important that the challenging content is accessible to everyone, but still be difficult enough to make people feel accomplished for completing it. Right now, skill doesn’t net you much of anything in GW2. Everyone can get everything for mind-numbing busywork, and many items have so little sentiment attached to them because they aren’t acquired in a memorable or engaging way.
I remember feeling slightly frustrated a couple of years ago that the Emissary of the Mad King “achievement” / title didn’t include the actual most difficult thing to achieve in the halloween event— the Mad King’s Clock Tower. If anything, they could have added a separate title for people that did complete it— because completing it sure did feel like an achievement deserving of a title. Instead we got… 10 AP. Sure, there was an intrinsic reward, but when things that are undoubtedly bigger achievements net less of an extrinsic reward (cosmetic, at that) than achievements where part of it is to… attend a party, something feels off.
My 2c. I know plenty of people disagree and want everything to be attainable by everyone, regardless of merit. I would rather that everything is accessible to everyone, and everyone has a fair shot at getting everything— but some things will take more brainpower to get.
Please no pets
I moved from Guard to Warrior because they got traps (2nd most boring thing about the most boring class— Rangers) So I’ll be ultra sad if we get the 1st most boring thing about the most boring class— pets. All my opinion, of course— but I’ll wait to see what we get.
I’m actually curious— is it the size or shape of greatswords that you’re talking about? Perhaps both? I would imagine a solution would be to have a weapon size / scale slider, but I don’t think that would achieve your purpose, as simply scaling up some swords still wouldn’t make them TERA-esque.
That being said, I’ve actually always felt that we had a surplus of “paddle” greatswords… and if we’re talking real life proportions, many one-handed swords could categorize as swords that you would hold with two hands. But that’s real life, and this is a game
Anyways, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get more massive greatswords with HoT. If you compare the quality of skins we’re getting now with the quality we’ve had before… ANet has definitely taken more artistic liberties with their weapons.
Cheers!
@OP
I think Foci will most likely end up being fist weapons for Warriors at some point in time. Unless they (for whatever reason) decide to add a mystical aspect to a future elite spec, this is definitely the most obvious candidate for that to happen.
@ Ilias
I think those are good points, but that’s a different discussion to be had altogether and I think you should create a new topic on it. Whether we like it or not, we’re going to get new weapons. This topic is discussing the content of our inevitable new weapons as opposed to the stale content of old weapons.
Nice design… but really not a fan of how ANet insists on making skirts super flared out at the hips like tents / balloons / bells.
So you’d rather have legs clipping through the outfits… Gotcha.
Kinda a false dichotomy don’t you think? Also don’t put words in my mouth.
Why not have both (fitted & functioning)? It was achievable on the monk outfit with certain body types (before they “fixed” it)— it’s not as if they’ve expanded our selections of body types, so why not just make a fit for each one rather than building a lazy tent so we can shoehorn everything into one?
Then again, I guess we should just be happy that Charr / Asura got some love this time.
No, not false anything…
You see, it’s rather easy to hide a problem like legs clipping though a long dress by simply removing the texture of the legs past a certain point. This works all good and well for full, closed dresses like the Noble Count Outfit.
But the moment you make an outfit styled in a way that you can see those legs under it, problems seem to come up.
Now, there are ways to avoid that… One of them is to extend the dress out a little bit more. It’s the simplest fix to the problem… And when you are trying to finish/fix things on a deadline and/or with the least amount of recourses (which I am assuming is what they try and do since that’s what /everyone/ tries to do…) then guess what they are going to do…
There is very little ‘lazy’ about it… It’s ‘Get it done quickly.’ or more then likely ‘Fix it on your own time.’On an only slightly related note… These are wedding dresses… And last time I was looking to wear one, they were all big and poofy. They are /supposed/ to look that way.
Yes— finish it as fast as possible with the least amount of resources— it matters very little what the reason was, lazy or not. We’re arguing semantics at this point. The end result was what it was— sloppy. Also, it is a false dichotomy because you’re assuming that if one outcome cannot be had, it MUST be only one other. (I don’t want pear shaped dresses, therefore it must be that I would rather have clipped legs. False dichotomy).
Not all wedding dresses are big and poofy, either. I think we’re at a point where wedding dresses aren’t really “supposed” to look like anything specific— so long as it looks loosely related
http://www.ca-bridal.com/images/beach_wedding_dresses_045.jpg
That being said, I don’t think their approach is “wrong,” per say, as aesthetics really are subjective. Rather I wish they diversified more often from pear shapes.

Female Norn animations are sooooo much better than Human / Sylvari. Right now the AA animations really do just look like my female human has no control over her weapon, and can barely pick it up. And then I use 100b…
So yes, I wish my female human looked like she used her great sword more deliberately as opposed to the “HNNNGGG I JUST GOTTA PICK IT UP AND HOPE IT CONNECTS!” AA that we have. Extremely unlikely though.
Whoops. Warrior / Guardian.
I realized it awhile ago, but it for some reason the thought keeps popping into my head. The first two sword autos for human females look like they should be swapped. Hear me out!
Her default stance has her blade held in her right hand, on her right side.
The first auto makes her right arm move all the way over (very quickly… almost teleporting) to her left side, and swing the blade back to her right, where it was previously “at rest.” So her initial stance starts with her blade on the right, but she starts the attack from the left.
The second auto starts from her right side, and slashes over to her left side.
The third stab auto starts from the right side, so after the second auto, she has to bring her arm all the way back to her right side, then wind up for the thrust.
…
Would it not makes sense if the chain started with the second auto’s animation (which starts on the right side… where she holds her blade in the default combat stance), then went into the first auto’s animation (no need to “teleport” her arm to that spot anymore, as the previous auto puts the blade in the correct position for this auto to make sense) into the thrust (which can now start without delay as she no longer has to take her arm all the way from the left side back to the right)
Yes. This is an EXTREMELY minute nitpick. But I feel like the animation chain just doesn’t really fit in a sensible order. Go check it out for yourself. Maybe I’m just nuts.
PS— Male greatsword animations have the character swing from the left (starting from the opposite side) as well, but there’s enough windup to make it seem more deliberate.
PSS— Not saying the animations look bad… I really just need to something to tide myself over while waiting for HoT
You know easy it is to trivially check a question like that, Nier?
Not to mention it’s pointless information. No one plays Mace and Axe mainhand in the same build, and you’re worrying about a level 2 skullcrack, not level 3? On top of that, you’re not specifying other modifiers, namely Dual Wielding Agility, Quickness, or Sigil of Paralyzation. Furthermore, your “clarified” question is even more ambiguous. “how many axe auto attacks can you land before he can recover and dodge the next stun?” What was his endurance at before the stun landed? Does he have vigor or other endurance modifiers? Do evades count as dodges? What does “recover” mean in this context? How many and which stuns does the warrior have available to him?
Here’s my answer: You get zero hits, because no one would ever play that terrible build in this unrealistic and vague scenario.
Daaaaaayummmmmmmmmmmm.
Still no news on this?
The GS has some leeway as a zweihander. The rest of the melee gallant stuff is oversized.
So earlier in the day they told me they’d refund the outfit, but I didn’t want to say anything on here until the refund went through. I got another response this afternoon telling me that they couldn’t refund the outfit, BUT not to worry because the team is “aware of this issue and team members currently are working on addressing it”.
I guess I’ll wait until July 21st to see if anything happens before pressing the issue, again.
This is totally ridiculous. I know that they don’t have the tools to do a proper gem refund (you get to keep the refunded item even when they refund your gems), but that isn’t my problem. If I bought a faulty product from any semi-professional retailer (in the United States) I would be eligible for a refund, no questions asked. This lack of accountability is absolutely staggering.
And the really stupid thing is that they only lose 700 gems by keeping people happy! Yes, I know that will eventually be $10, but is that really worth upsetting those that want a refund for this outfit because the fix for it was bad?
/rant off
As much as I don’t want to get my hopes up… I guess that’s promising news?
Also a quick question— when people mention gem refunds, are they referring to getting their gems back? Or getting the money back from the gems they bought? Because even if they just gave you back the gems, they don’t really lose any money since you still paid for the gems. Which is why I’m having some trouble understanding why they’re hesitant to give refunds. Maybe I’m just getting this whole refund business mixed up.
Yes, the item has been reintroduced to the Gem Store. I will pass along your input regarding the corrected outfit.
Hey Gaile— thanks for the communication.
I rarely speak up on issues— but I do have to say that I am a bit displeased with the corrected version of the outfit. Compared the previous iteration, the skirt region is noticeably more flared out. Like… my character’s is pretty poorly proportioned now compared to how it was before. From what I understand, the outfit worked perfectly on some body types, and poorly for others. It used to be proportioned perfectly on my human, and now it’s… well, I’ll just throw up some pictures to compare.
First image is before the change, second is after.
Really hope this feedback is taken to heart, as this outfit was pure bliss. Like, hands down— it was my favorite outfit and I thought you guys did a fantastic job on it. I sincerely hope you’ll look back into it!

Is there a way to stop a skill being “queued” in the case that it lags? I have noticed that there’s a bit more of a delay than usual, and it’s ultra frustrating when my character decides to use a certain skill after the opportunity for its use has passed.
I’m curious— what did armor look like in Aion for female characters? I played it briefly, and I just remember my female gladiator looking like she was wearing glass the whole time.
It’s been needing that because this game has too many “I screwed up buttons” for this damage pool to be not reasonable.
I’m not alone in this thought? Thank god.
Does the -bmp command line argument still work?
Yes. It’s currently what I use and my screenshots still look great. To the OP— I highly recommend using it if you don’t mind your screenshots being upwards of 10mb.
Yeah. Post mobility patch, I’ve found it quite a bit more difficult to keep up with classes that have access to on demand blinks / teleports. We lost a bit of stickiness, and it’s a bit frustrating.
I’ve also noticed that Rush is missing a LOT more than usual. And by missing, I mean forcing my character to run a complete different direction than the targeted person, causing me to lose more distance than anything.
Haha you had me going there in the beginning! We warriors aren’t all too experienced with trolling because so few people care about us try a rampage thread next time! 8/10
Ash Legion Spy. From the Ash Legion Spy NPC.
I’m also a human warrior I’ve had pleeeeeenty of people point out all the things that are wrong with this combination.
Such QQ in this thread about counterplay suddenly not being there. Well, you know what stops people from using movement skills? Immobilization. It’s a simple matter of l2immob.
New Warrior’s Sprint trait breaks Immob when using a movement skill. Har har har!
They’re using Heightened Focus, a grandmaster trait in the Discipline line.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heightened_FocusSome may even be packing Frenzy (a quickness stance), but most will just have the trait.
Wow…no ICD to this huh? (at least none that’s mentioned in the wiki)
Wiki is a bit misleading as you said. There’s a 15s ICD.
Not a huge fan of the change either. From a PvP perspective as a Warrior, I always thought it was really clever if an opponent used a cripple / chill to prevent a long range Evisc / ES or retreating Rush. Neat little nuances like that added depth to combat, and I really appreciated it.
I’m also a lot less stoked to continue my Necro / Reaper alt because the chill effect isn’t going to do squat to people that feel like resetting the fight at their leisure.
I actually had similar musings as I had run 60206 or 60404 in sPvP as my top two builds. I can safely say that I personally do more damage, and that’s because of the introduction of quickness, and might stacking on Forceful Greatsword (Which I had no access to previously).
On top of that, Berserker’s Power gives a 20% boost now instead of 15%, and having that power boost activate after an Eviscerate (which will usually trigger quickness) has led to a substantial increase (might stacks from Forceful GS usually carry over to the Evisc as well).
If you used Rampage previously, Peak Performance was also added to make it much more potent.
I haven’t found Warriors to be problematic. Their Zerker’s Power is tied to landing their burst skill. It does not trigger from Longbow, so they have to hit using their GS / Hammer / Axe burst. The movement changes made it so Eviscerate and (I think?) Earthshaker don’t have super speed anymore. They have extremely obvious tells, and can be negated entirely by blocks / blinds / dodges. Not only that, but their most potent form of condi removal (Cleansing Ire) is also tied to landing their burst skill.
If they miss, they burn all of their adrenaline, fail to acquire their damage buff, and do not receive any condi cleanse.
As it is, Warriors have the most simple, straight forward counter play— long, telegraphed animations / cast times, typically at short range. They are not hard to avoid.
Strong? I would say so. But OP… That’s pushing it.
nice try to hide this as a advice seeking post, we all know you are trying bring more attention to nerf Mesmers (which we already received while other classes got none).
Just remember what comes around goes around, Ele is doing tons of damages too. I hope your class get nerfs as well.
OP must secretly play Necro because the fear in this post is real. Shame to see that people that genuinely want to L2P by asking for advice are getting shut down. Maybe you can help prevent nerfs by stating some form of counterplay that the OP can use? That way you can actually prove that any nerf suggestions would be unwarranted?
That being said, I would just straight up ask your mesmer friend what it was that he did, and if there are any holes in his strategy that can be exploited.
Loving the damage. Cleaving downed state people & punishing poorly thought out rez attempts has never been more rewarding. Mistakes are much more costly now, and skirmishes are decided very quickly. Pace has definitely gotten faster. It’s still only been a day, but I’m liking it.
Thank you so much. I cannot stress how much I have been wanting more “realistically” shaped weapons. One of the details that I pay very close attention to (weirdly enough) are handle shapes. I love that you’ve made ergonomic grips for these weapons, and they don’t fall into the common trap that many artists fall into— which is making weapon handles perfectly cylindrical / circular.
(For those that don’t know— cylindrical grips on bladed weapons are undesirable because it makes it difficult for the wielder to align the edge perfectly with a target— making it harder to cut. Most will say it doesn’t matter because this is fantasy… but it’s still a pet-peeve of mine nonetheless)
All that aside, great job on these skins! Looking forward to more weapons that have a similar level of attention to detail.
Now that we have to hit to gain the buff… does the buff actually apply to the burst skill? We used to be able to cancel the burst and retain the buff, meaning the buff got applied before the strike, but now it applies after checking for a hit. So does that mean our bursts’ damage no longer is augmented by the trait?
What sorts of utilities / gear will you be running? I can see conditions being an issue for the build. Also stability will give it a lot of trouble.
Agree wholeheartedly. Making the downed state / rally system more “clutch” would certainly help the flow of PvP. Right now, combat on your feet is incredibly fast-paced and high-octane. But when downed-state stuff starts happening… combat slows to a crawl.
Not to mention the amount of frustration that takes place when you’ve downed 2 people solo— how many interrupts, teleports, stealths, etc. you have to get through to finish off two people who are just laying on the ground and bleeding out. It’s just such a long process. Doesn’t match the pace of normal combat. Especially in those awkward team situations when everyone is mashing their swords into one person’s face, desperately trying to cleave them down while their teammates are by their side stroking their leg as their health bar bounces back and forth. A quick pickup or a swift finish would be much more smooth, IMO.
Wow. I am so sorry that you had to go through that. In all my time playing GW2, I’ve never experienced that level of vitriol. I hope you never have to again. Good on you for looking more deeply into the matter. The HoT pricing really has some of the worst people coming out of the woodwork.
You seem like a pretty cool dude. The ‘good’ part of the community is composed of people like you. Please stay and keep it that way
I wish the female outfit’s cloth parts didn’t float outwards the way they do. Looks like I have a ripped camping tent fully expanded around my waist at all times.
I’ve never gotten bashed for not running PS. But I have gotten praised for running it. That being said, it shouldn’t matter much because PvE content is already very easy.
If running PS isn’t fun for you (it’s really not a fun build), then don’t run it. Other people just whine because they want you to play a certain way so they can see big numbers.
Single pieces of gear don’t impress anyone because everyone’s seen everything. What will get people’s attention (and comments) are creative armor & dye combos. No joke, if I appreciate someone’s sense of style, then I will go out of my way to tell them.
If you really want to, then go take a look at gw2style— it’s loaded with people who appreciate looking at other people’s characters and showing off their own.
Yeah the earmuffs aren’t in the gem store. Such a shame, as I was excited when they included it in the announcement.
