I purchased the broom as well as Mad King Thorn outfit a while ago.
After this latest patch, my Mad King Thorn outfit is not showing up in my outfit section.
My broom is gone as well.
They were equipped on my town clothes slots, they were not in my inventory or stash to convert by talking to a black lion trader. After talking to him, these items are still not showing up anywhere.
I believe I took one part of the Mad King costume and put it on the town clothes slot of another character a while ago.
These items I bought with gems need to be restored, thanks.

I had a huge stack of these as well. Anet should have converted them into a different boost like WvW or something. The fact that they didn’t is terrible customer service.
They said repeatedly to use them up as they are not replacing them. The fact that you are dumb enough not to read and heed what they said, is NOT their fault and does not make it bad customer service. It is YOUR FAULT ALONE.
Your whiteknighting logic is faulty.
Announcing that they are making a poor customer service decision does not remove the fact that it is a poor customer service decision.

After a year, they all say ‘About a year ago’. So, posts from 20 months ago say ‘About a year ago’.
No idea if it will change to ‘About two years ago’.
They should still add something which clarifies which year, or when, considering that months overlap within that 20 week window.
Besides, seeing a post labeled “October” without a year, when it is now April, with no year, is just bad design.
Reading the standards set out in this article, GW2 has done everything that this article was bashing about “traditional” MMOs.
I have quoted a couple paragraphs, and then quote snippets from those paragraphs with examples from GW2 that are doing the same thing they were bashing.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/is-it-fun-colin-johanson-on-how-arenanet-measures-success/
“Now let me pose a second question: If the success of a subscription-based MMO is measured by the number of people paying a monthly fee, how does that impact game design decisions?”
“The answer can be found in the mechanics and choices made in subscription-based MMOs, which keep customers actively playing by chasing something in the game through processes that take as long as possible. In other words, they design content systems that take more time to keep people playing longer. If this is your business motivation and model so you keep getting paid, it makes sense and is an incredibly smart thing to do, and you need to support it.”
“When your game systems are derived and designed to fill this prime motivation of a subscription-based MMO, you potentially sacrifice quality to get as much content in as possible to fill that time. You get leveling systems that take insane amounts of grind to gain a level, loot drop systems that require doing a dungeon with a tiny chance the item you want can drop at the end, raid systems that need huge numbers of people online simultaneously to organize and play, thousands of wash/repeat item-collection or kill-mob quests or dailies with flavor text support, the best stat gear requiring crazy amounts of time to earn, etc.”
First: Gw2 has the same motivation to keep people playing as sub games do: income. If anything, they are more desperate for income as they do not have monthly subs to cushion them. Box sales this long after the game is released will be negligible.
Keeping that in mind, while reading his second paragraph, everything he says describes GW2.
“you potentially sacrifice quality to get as much content in as possible to fill that time”
Recycled art, combat, and zones, in Living Story.
" loot drop systems that require doing a dungeon with a tiny chance the item you want can drop at the end"
Precursor drop rates? In addition, if you get your gear through dungeon tokens, the limitations on token rewards has turned it into a grind to get your gear as well. Ascended gear/legendaries, both a grind.
“raid systems that need huge numbers of people online simultaneously to organize and play”
Megabosses, Scarlet world events, WvW (which is the only thing I do in GW2 now) etc
“thousands of wash/repeat item-collection or kill-mob quests or dailies with flavor text support”
All your LS content is wash/repeat. GW2 daily achievement laurels are your daily flavor text.
“the best stat gear requiring crazy amounts of time to earn, etc.”
Legendary items, ascended gear.
“…keep customers actively playing by chasing something in the game through processes that take as long as possible.”
Time-gated ascended mats + Scarlet + Dungeon token daily limits + Account Achievement chests.
They only incentive people have to do LS content is the cosmetic achievement or mini they reward you with for hours of grinding the same event, which is “Kill X, Collect Y, bring to Z”, just as much as any other MMO. In addition, they made it so the rewards of account achievement chests can be completed most easily by doing this LS grind. No one cares about the actual story or characters, as it all seems so superficial and forced.
“get leveling systems that take insane amounts of grind to gain a level”
Fractals, account achievement chests, WxP, ’nough said.

And what do you think will happen to the mat prices for 375/400 tier dye recipes once the stockpiles are gone?
Nothing, because people are always harvesting and selling mats on the TP.
There was a scenario several months ago were you could spend, say 5 copper, on certain crafting material, in order to craft low grade tuning crystals in bulk and sell them in bulk to a vendors for 7c for a profit.
The demand shot up for those materials as people were putting in trade offers for thousands of them, and inevitably the prices rose, so you could not get them for 5c anymore. They rose to the level of demand for the crafted product.
That is what happens when materials suddenly can be used to make something valuable, their price will rise, close to the price of the final result.
In this case, the prices of the mats will inevitably be tied to the price of the resulting product, the Unid X Dye. This is how economies work.
Replenishing for a short amount of time, then no more. Dyes have effectively become oil, in that although there may be large stockpiles now, once those stockpiles are gone, there will not be new stockpiles being dropped by monsters to replace them.
Anet was competing against themselves anyways by selling dye packs in the gemstore, and then allowing monsters to drop unid’d dyes, it was only a matter of time before they decided to monatize them like this.
… you do know that chefs can create unidentified dyes, right?
And what do you think will happen to the mat prices for 375/400 tier dye recipes once the stockpiles are gone?
“The only other ways to get new units of dyes now are through using existing stockpiles of now-discontinued PvP reward to craft unid dyes, that will run out too, or through sporadic “rewards” where you get one from a personal story quest completion for example. Those will be limited and strung out as well. You could also craft Unid X Dye using Chef, however the mats for those recipes, once the dye stockpiles trickle out, will rise in price as well.
This is a 6 month view rather than looking at the state of things today and extrapolating that to the future, the game has changed. The vast majority of dyes for sale were drops, and now new units cannot be acquired through that method anymore. Stockpiles will run out eventually, and when that happens, prices will inevitably rise."
(edited by TheLaughingMan.4320)
There will still be plenty of people using unidentified dyes, replenishing the supply. Only one method of acquiring dyes has been removed.
It’s not as big of a deal as you guys are making it out to be, but I suppose that’s par for the course around these forums.

Who says it’s not going to last? With account bound now in effect, dyes are significantly devalued. Prices will continue to settle in the player’s favor aside from the rarest and most exclusive colors, but that’s never been different from any other time in the game’s lifespan.
This would be true if the supply of dye continued to flow at the rates it did before they removed dye from the loot tables. The supply will drop to extremely low levels, especially after the existing stocks on tp are bought without being replaced anywhere near the speed they are being removed from tp. The demand will still be there.
Especially now that they are removing dyes from loot tables.
They know dyes are popular items, they are trying to steer players towards the gem store to buy rng dye packs.
It’s either that or end up spending a fortune even on common dyes (prices are only going to go up), or spend a fortune on the mats to make “Unidentified X Dye” as a chef. The mats for those recipes will shoot up in price, too.
There’s been an oversaturation of dyes in the market for the longest time, and said market continually crashes. I don’t see how anything has changed, you can still purchase the colors you want for cheap on the TP in the biggest majority of cases.
Common dyes went from 80 bronze to 15 silver in a very short timespan when it was announced that dyes would no longer drop. Not because those dyes are in demand, but because they were a way to roll for a new dye of a potentially higher grade.
As times goes on and players have extremely limited ways to get new dyes other than trading post or gem store, prices will go up even further on trading post.
This will result in some players either buying gems to buy dye packs, or buying gems to convert into gold to buy Abyss.
The rest of the players that do not have X dye, and are unwilling or unable to buy gems, will have to settle. It will create another divide in the game between players who are willing to buy gems, and those who aren’t. New players getting into the game will struggle to get a decent dye collection.
Anet could have simply lowered the drop rate, instead of removing them, if they were worried about oversaturation. Instead, they turned the tap off all together.

Care to add anything to specific gameplay/game environment issues he raised rather than attacking his post? If you truly believe the living story adds “Exciting, quality, dynamic content that delivers persistent changes in the world based on the choices players make”, instead of just a grind of recycled combat and art in order to get a cosmetic achievement chest and sell gems for gem store skins that last longer than the content, say so, instead of stooping to long-winded attacks.

It is confusing to see a post in your history, or someone elses, or in a search, from last October without a 2013 appended to it. Especially considering posts people are making now, in April, do not have a 2014 appended to them.
It will be even more confusing when this October rolls around.
Not seeing the magnitude you’re talking about. Even at 100% crit change that ‘nerf’ is only roughly a 12% dps loss. I think the FGS/Frostbow buff makes up for that.
well people asked for a less zerk dependent game and we got it. LOL
You got the opposite. Zerkers are more important than ever now, there is less room for slack in the meta groups.
PvE mindsets for the lulz
You will note that the gem store gear they release along with the living world content stays in the gem store even after the event finishes though…
And given the fact that the only new sets of armor introduced into the game itself in almost 2 years were the ascended sets, the ONLY way to get a significantly different look is through the gem store.
Especially now that they are removing dyes from loot tables.

Instead, you’ve never gotten another dime from me, beyond the initial purchases. Every time I have been tempted to buy gems, I think about how greedy it felt during the 2012 halloween event when the BL Chest drop rate for the halloween weapons was stupendously low. I remember all the content that was removed. I think about all the minor (unvoiced by me, but pointed out many times here by others) complaints I’ve had that were never fixed, and the fact that there is not going to be any expansion any time soon, when it should have been here or have been announced, at the least.
Posts like this are always so bizarre and disingenuous, specifically for the argument here (which always seems to come about in some way or another). You’re saying you’ve been tempted to buy gems, but refrained because of a previous complaint, which ArenaNet has massively improved at this point? Gem store weapons like the Halloween set have been made hugely more accessible, yet you still refuse to buy any because they used to be a problem? Why should ArenaNet ever address any of your concerns, if you’re just going to cling to past issues as an excuse to criticize them in the future, even after those issues have been fixed and improved?
For all your complaints, you sound like the type of person who will never be satisfied, no matter how close ArenaNet manages to bring the game to your ideal fantasy.
Most of his critiques are about the game itself, not the gem store that you used the fanboi generic response on after focusing in on it.
I agree with everything Blood posted, especially with WvW being the only part of GW2 that continues to be fun, if you are on a t1 server. The population for WvW will only shrink though, since anet isn’t really pushing reasons for people to get into gw2, like expansions, etc.
The poster above me made a point that many of us have been saying since they started the LS stuff, they spend all that time recycling art and coming up with a storyline that no one really cares about, then “Shut it down! Shut it all down!” a few weeks after the event is done. In Gw1 EotN, it was exciting when an adult Gwen appears, even though her only part in the story pre-searing was to lose her flute and ask you to find it for her. In gw2, no one gives a skritt about any of the forgetable characters introduced in all the LS stuff, they are just trying to grind through the achievements to get some cosmetic item.
You will note that the gem store gear they release along with the living world content stays in the gem store even after the event finishes though…
(edited by TheLaughingMan.4320)
Server mergers – no growth. Anet has announced server mergers without actually using the term server mergers. Fanbois will leap on this and snarl, but it is the truth.
Anet needs to follow the successful gw1 model of releasing expansion packs that bring in revenue, bring in increased exposure through reviews in gaming magazines and websites, and bring in new players.
Anet recycling art for “living story” stuff does not bring in new players, or revenue.
Devs are truly unwilling to deal with the problem that is stealth in pvp.
If you are trying to stay “stealthed”, you should say, have, 50% movement speed decrease, no health regen, some penalties for it. It is FAR too op in a game that depends on quickly locating a target.
Moving fire to Life Blast may be acceptable, barely, maybe, for PvE but against other players the skill will often be dodged, interrupted, blocked, or reflected. It takes too long to cast. We might as well not have fire. At least with a hybrid build and rng crits Dhuumfire proc’d frequently enough to land shortly after ICD clears.
Changing Dhumf to proc on a Life Blast (that actually lands) disentangles it from crit chance (Precision) but is still an over-all nerf. All it does is add the potential for fire to a Soldier’s build, which is annoying because we have all been asking for better heal scaling.
Completely agree. I know anet does not have many staff taking care of balancing, and they need to consider balancing across 3 very different play modes, however making changes like this reflect the lack of time or experience put forth by the people making the changes.
It doesn’t suit their theme and they don’t need it either.
Also, stop comparing GW1 with GW2.
Yes, we wouldn’t want to compare a great game to its sequel, it makes no sense! Instead, we should pretend GW1 never existed. Pointing out the flaws of a not so great sequel versus a great original just wastes time and keyboard lifespans.
(edited by TheLaughingMan.4320)
Anet’s 2 man “balancing” team yet again listens to the pve qq and screws over wvw and spvp by not separating trait and skill changes between pve, wvw, and spvp.
Anet likes to kill builds that threaten the mes/war/guardian trinity
“Earth XI – Diamond Skin. This trait has been redesigned. Conditions cannot be applied to you when your health is above the threshold. 90%.”
No. This makes elementalists have a huge advantage over necros, who are usually running condition damage builds, and have very little in the way of physical damage. You are effectively making one class immune to the other. Especially considering how rapidly eles can restore their health using WEAPON skills and combo fields.
I really can’t believe this is being allowed in WVW. Anet, my engy thanks you for finally putting the nails in her coffin.
Anet made a bad move trying to shove their boilerplate PvE content into WvW
Has nothing to do with acquiring more/newer hardware, which is the only thing that will fix wvw skill lag
Anet has been aware of this issue since release, but will not spend the money needed to upgrade servers/get more programmers. The monetization manager forced down anet’s throat with the loan floated to them is running the show now, and actually fixing huge issues like these that cost money is not a priority.
Anet has known about this since release, and has not done a kitten thing about it. Servers are expensive, and with monetization manager running the show, upgrades are not a priority.
The person who from now on shall not be named runs the show at anet now. Do not support this strategy, do not buy gems.
I used to see new skins (most of which are terribad) and want them, now I just ignore and have the mindset that I don’t care if I get them. Unless there is a stat bonus associated with it, it doesn’t affect the only fun part of this game now, WvW, just ignore it.
By the way, you can tell how the player reception is to RNG by the fact that anet had to make a big front page forum news post about people rightfully complaining about the yoke a certain staff member has over “monetization” now. Hilarious.
Because a certain member of the human race who may or may not work for a company that produces games, may or may not have complained about forum posts in some fictional world setting, so they shall not be named, runs the show, you gotta pay to play. Gw2 sold out long ago, don’t expect anything positive, just play wvw and ignore the rng crap.
Stop crying about anet screwing up. The people using the bug should not be banned. Point your rage at the people responsible for the bug, and not fixing it in a timely manner.
Anet should not ban people for anet screwing up. Stop crying and calling for bans.
anet is broke as kitten, on t1 servers with the 3 servers fighting, skill lag gets terrible.
Anet knows about it, and just won’t spend the money to upgrade servers.
I have a twilight gs, and do not have the new legendary stats. I have transmuted the skin several times, as thats all legendary weapons were, for a long time. I should not have to buy gems to fix this problem, as its on anet to make sure that the changes they made to legendary weapons should actually affect legendary weapons. Besides, it has been transmuted several times.
Its a bad, scammy move on anets part if they screw people out of the stat changes and say, “You shouldn’t have transmuted, go buy gems now”
250 badges is a superb price point.
In other words when Anet add it, it’ll cost 250 badges AND 50 laurels AND 250 ectos.
You know it.
Anet is hitting rock bottom in their scraping and bowing for their monetization overlords, it will be a gem store item if we see it at all
They should be giving resets when adding new skills. Based on their current behavior, will probably sell wvw reset stone in gem store instead.
I lol’ed at your diagram
The monetization team, which is now running the show, wants to milk you for as many gems as possible before NCSoft shuts down GW2, no chance of them making perm tools account bound
Warrior really got screwed for WvW by the June 23th patch, roll a guardian
I guess I don’t understand why people continue to play in spite or come back and post here to try to convince people that the game is bad.
Personal opinions are valid but personal. There is a lot I would like to see different in this game, but I don’t log in every day in disgust or negativity.
That might mean you need to change your outlook on things or maybe do something different.
How dare we criticize a game’s flaws
It will soon be available through special gem-store only “Going Commando” crates, which have a 1/10000000000000000000 chance of dropping a scrap of commando flesh. Once you have bought enough gems, and received enough scraps of flesh, you must then buy the “Commando Assembly Kit” from the gem store store, which functions like the mystic forge but with commando flesh, and you have a 1/100000 chance of rolling commando per roll. Note that each kit can be used for one roll and is then consumed.
I’m going to be honest, I really want a set % of chance said by anet. At the very least, I want to know my chances of survival before going into the lions den.
Anet is now focused on monetization, rather than gameplay and the players, so they have no reason to tell you numbers.
I agree with everything OP says.
No serious end game, other than wvw
Bump
I’ve finished 8 chars, and only play WvW now, PVE offers no motivating rewards to play it. PVE combat is very stale compared to GW1. I don’t want to take time from WvW to go run around and eat dragon candy in order to have a chance at getting a skin.
I have serious doubts that they are really randomizing the matchups
Unless they give algorithm and random seed and let us compare each week to see for ourselves, pretty sure they choose matchups, or at least re-roll if they see something they don’t like.
(edited by TheLaughingMan.4320)
They need better servers, and all of anet is being whipped by “monetization team” (aka CC) to produce crap temp content that does not draw in new players and just gives an excuse to screw people with rng blc junk, the gameplay itself is not a huge priority.
d/p thief
stealth spam is op, use it while it lasts
