Shield skills

Posted by: TheLazyOne.8509

TheLazyOne.8509

I like the war shield skills. It has saved my butt many a times running into that tower past the zerg. Or running through the enemy zerg with zerker stance and stability to the back lines to kill glass cannons or arrow carts. However lately I keep flipping back and forth between my shield and warhorn. That convert conditions to boons is amazing.

Now that you mention warhorn …it really needs a damage skill on it,
we are warriors.

And warhorns aren’t weapons.

Where is my "dead" sister?

TheLazyOne.8509

Sigh Thanks for making the forum account log out every now and then, great feature.

They should’ve just left the sister dead.
Veteran Seraph sister gets killed. You find out by whom, get revenge – immediate plot. Then find out she was raised by the big Z, maybe into a more powerful minion. Boom, you’ve got a hook, a personal motivation and a boss fight for the Pact half of the story.
No kitten reunion (“You!” that’s some way to adress your sibling*), no disappearing character. What you DO have is continuity.

*I know the problem is that you can’t cover every possible name with voice acting, but if there’s a problem you can’t fix, GO AROUND IT, not brute force it, hoping nobody notices. I knew they’d pull this “adress-yet-doesn’t-adress” silliness the moment I heard Deborah is alive and what suspension of disbelief I had was immediately shattered, before I even met her. My dear sister who I have no connection to. Not before, nor after.

Asking for the two longbow skills to be combined is a fair idea.

Why not just combine every Strength tree into one trait, so you don’t even have to pick!

Yes sure, helping your brittle as a twig team stay alive is useless. Of course. Because we all know that the only useful stat in this game is crit damage.

Also, 3 utility slots = potentially 3 banners. Mind blowing, I know.

Considering how much they rake in from all the WPing, they can leave the gates on as free to use.

11.2k backstab on a 3.3k armor warrior?

in Warrior

Posted by: TheLazyOne.8509

TheLazyOne.8509

Ok, now let’s talk about the fact that Kill Shot is a 1500 range skill, while backstab is a close range skill that deals the maximum damage only if you manage to land it from behind.

Let’s talk also about the fact that Eviscerate is a leap.

One has a 3 second cast time (read: forever), is easily dodgeable and the other has a whooping range of 300.
Not to mention that Kill Shot is widely derided on this forum by the warriors themselves, so you’ll rarely have to face it. Even then, the time I was actually hit by a Kill Shot since launch was last month, because of unfortunate timing (Savage Leap animation+aftercast delay mad it impossible for me to move in time).

Fact is, Kill Shot is VERY VERY situational.

dont forget to nerf healing signet

in Warrior

Posted by: TheLazyOne.8509

TheLazyOne.8509

Maybe make the Signet active an aoe heal? Heals the user for less, allies for more? Then you would have reason to use it in teamfights at least.

Signet imo really needs an active effect that warrior has no/low access to.
(And vice versa, Signet of Rage needs a reason to actually leave it on passive once in a while.)

Activating HS cuts utility skill cooldowns in half? Increase the Signet’s CD and you can trade your healing for more frequent Berserker Stance, Endure Pain, Fear me, Stomp, etc.

The only problem I see with a “charge up” is that I’m not sure anything like that currently exists in the game. If it doesn’t then that would require programming an entirely new system for it, which I doubt they would do.

Already exists. Look at trebs and catas. If you don’t wanna look at trebs and catas, look at the many environmental weapons in open world quests.

That’s charging for distance, not damage. I doubt that they would spend time writing new code to only be used on a single skill, they’ve said before that getting new mechanics into the game is a long process.

They should have a charging code “lying around”, some skills were supposed to be charged for extra damage before they were changed. One of the mace skills comes to mind, but there were more.

Had a Sigil of Energy on the Warhorn.
Signet of Stamina, For Great Justice and Signet of Rage. Last utility skill doesn’t really matter. Balanced stance maybe.
Lots of condi damage, food and tuning crystal.
Phase 1, you know the drill.
During phase 2, I stopped running from her. Whenever she caught up to me I F1’d the area around me, blasted it with Arcing Arrow, then dodged the AoE. Then back up a little to create some distance from the visions. Because of the rotation of the AoE, the spot you F1 and dodge around in will be a safe zone the next turn. So just F1 and dodge and watch her burn.
Oh and smash the rifts ASAP, of course.

I have a question. (Haven’t started the game up since patch went live.)
Does the Signet heal /sec or /3sec, because the wiki patch notes say the latter?
And I’m unsure as to what was changed about it.

“Reworked the formula that this passive heal uses. At level 80, this skill goes from 392 healing per 3 seconds to 467 healing per 3 seconds with 1500 healing power. "

(467-392)/1500= 0,05 Healing Power ratio. Which is the same it always was?

Maybe it’s because it’s 11PM here, but I don’t get it.

Devs disappointed by human race bias

in Human

Posted by: TheLazyOne.8509

TheLazyOne.8509

Personally, I made a human for several reasons, including the usual ’I’m human too’, ‘descendant of my GW1 character’, etc, but I also made one because the races trailer completely sold me on humans. A rich, cultured race, brought down to the brink of extinction, their gods fallign silent, but they are determined to survive. Instead we got nothing even near this and I don’t just mean the story. The whole game world is very happy-go-lucky but that’s beside the point.
Oh and promo material made me think that playing a noble in this game would actually mean playing a noble. Instead, as usual, I’m generic adventurer #476501. Who happens to have some servants and a wine cellar, but apparently no house, since we were celebrating in the middle of a square. Without guards to protect the guests. Seriously, what the hell? But I digress, again.

Norn I thought are a joke and EotN treated them as jsut that, comic relief. Then comes GW2 and we have oversized morons who can only repeat LEGEND! ad nauseum and the game expects us to take them seriously. Their way of life was handily proven to be utterly unviable when Jormag started steamrolling through the idiots who thought they could kill it.

The asura may be funyn at first, but if anyone I knew RL that behaved like that, I’d be hard pressed not to throw them out the window.

Sylvari I like. Made two alts too.

Charr I like, some of the armor just looks waaaay to weird on them. Shoes, shoulders, helmets. And too many spikes sometimes.

I have to wonder though what the dev(s) are thinking. Asura and charr stories are the strongest? How would someone who just started up the game know that? And normally you’d expect every story to be on par. It’s not the players’ fault if the writers couldn’t make the most of the great potential they were handed. (Sorry, but that’s how I feel.)

So yeah. Human I found the most appealing, but I made one of every race anyway.

Ed: I don’t think human story is bad per se, but incomplete, only in part related to what was teased and maybe too short. It’s very obvious that gameplay dictated the story, not the tale they wanted to tell.

Really nice idea, I’d be happy if Anet did something like that.
Another thing is, it would be nice if there was a reason to go the home instance in the first place. I’ve heard there are changes as the story goes along, but didn’t notice since I haven’t been there since level 20 or so. Why no put there related order merchants at least or something?
Maybe add housing. I chose noble background and didn’t see my house and apparently I don’t even hire guards. Adding an upgradable house would be nice and we’d have reason to show the instance off to others.

Oh and I’ve still no idea what the Blessed by Balthazar choice is supposed to have done for me.

I like how you preach about team spirit, then expect people to conform to your selfish demands, because you can’t stand the idea of someone doing less damage than you. Or expecting to get an MF buff for graciously allowing suboptimal MF gear into your party of hardcore insta fighters. Or because you are too cheap to pay a lousy 3 silver repair cost if you happen to die – which is your fault, not the MF guy’s.
You wouldn’t have wiped at the boss’ last sliver of health if that guy had extra crit chance? You managed to get that far and get a wipe? Hardly his/her fault. You just want to scapegoat a stat because it doesn’t fit into your elitist high number min-max mentality.
You are taking offense at what others are doing with their characters, which is none of your bloody business. Take offense to it if you want, but leave the rest of the world out of your selfish nonsense.
What do you need that oh so wonderful dps for anyway? Farming high difficulty fractals? So you can get a weapon that has the same stats as a relatively easily crafted one? Or an ascended item with +4 to a stat? That’s why you’re on a hate campaign, possibly denying people from their go at an instance? And you call others selfish? You should be ashamed.
What’s next? Kicking people from parties because they brought a class that you counted has lower dps than others? Or people who don’t bring party support skills? Don’t bring a certain HIGH NUMBERS weapon? Pfft.

But hey, who cares? Who cares about such things as kiting, weapon and skill choices, bad coordination, in/experience in the face of your glorious MATHS. The numbers don’t lie, everything is the MFs fault! Burn the witch!

Anyway, I’m out of this thread. Have fun raging at your 42% or whatever.

Oh sure, I’ll stop being selfish and get another full set of exotic combat gear, just for your sake.
But hey, if every bit of damage counts, you can always join a 2-2 guardian/warrior team and call them noobs if they don’t use GS and Zerker stuff!
As I said. Skill > Gear. Yes, gear makes it easier. Counting every point of damage? Pointless. And then there’s stuff like Ascalon fractal, where the NPCs do most of the damage on higher levels, or getting turned into a dolphin with fixed stats…

I can’t do anything about it because there is nothing stopping someone from running a MF set behind my back.

Someone is very obsessed here. Running behind your back? You’re acting like it’s on par with getting backstabbed by your best friend. It’s a game. Not a number simulator. But hey, you an be all snobbish and go HURRDURR NO MF on lfg.com, if that makes you happier.
Sadly, there’s nothing stopping people like you from whining at what they think is not hardcore and optimal.

snip

Actually, there was no particular reason I listed the defense stats.

Berserkers don’t just sport damage gear. They use damage traits. Which translates to -> getting oneshotted. MF doesn’t dictate your playstyle, you can get toughness or whatever. Which means -> MF doesn’t make you fall behind, bad builds and lack of skill do.

Btw, it’s okay to “handicap” myself, you know why? Because there’s things I’d like. Like my Protector’s set. 120 gold. You know how I’ll get 120 gold? By getting more loot. Not by killing something 3 seconds faster. You can math all day, there is no handicap. Your damage potential is high all the same. You can cripple/immobilize or kite bosses just as well. Regular mobs are a non-issue.
Sure, I can understand what your point is, but why do you care? Let people run MF if they want. If you don’t want to, that’s your choice, let them have theirs.

One bug I’ve noticed is related to Kill Shot, the rifle adrenal skill: If you have Crack Shot (20 pt Arms trait) and your shot penetrates one (possibly more, didn’t check) enemy before getting blocked by your actual target, you retain your full adrenaline.
