They could possibly even find some excuse to have you play as Rytlock for the challenge.
I hope Anet will leave in an option where I can skip this.
Endgame is what you make of it. If you can’t find something to do, consider taking a break.
Fishing is not an epic adventure.
Unless you’re punching and wrestling the fish with your bare hands. :^)
Just turn the open world into one giant raid. That’ll be a huge success and a money maker for Anet.
See, I’m of the opposite opinion. I feel like the story has been regressing/devolving since about the last fifth of LWS2. I’m really tired of how Anet leaves certain plots hanging and hanging to the point that audience retention is completely lost. They have too much going on at once and try to do too much at once.
What really sucks about all of this is that despite my own disdain and loathing for the story now, there are characters that I genuinely like. However, those characters are part of the hanging plot thread collateral that Anet has created by (again) trying to tackle and do too much at once with the story.
If they can’t dedicate enough time to start and finish a plot thread then they shouldn’t bother trying to bring it up at all. I don’t think Anet does a good job with trying to make cliffhangers and they need to stop. I feel like they’re losing audience retention with the way they try to do cliffhangers.
At least that’s what happened with me with regards to Zojja’s condition after HoT. :\
inb4 people start quoting the hearsay from Ep 1 of LWS3 as evidence when hearsay is not reliable evidence
I’d prefer never.
I really sick of Anet shoving/shoehorning Rytlock into everything. :\ Looks like I have even more reason to not care about the story for PoF. At least Anet is consistent in that regard.
Well with that attitude let me get this off my chest, im got kitten sick of hearing aboug Kas and Majories relationship, IDGAF we’re in the middle of saving the world and they need to talk about their feelings and how they dont know if they can continue cause broken feelings.
We certainly agree on that, at least. :P
Dragon’s Watch ain’t happening from the looks of things and I’m glad for that.
If I remember reading right, it’s a super rare BLC drop. I’ve been looking for it on the TP for some time as well but haven’t seen it. I know I’d buy it up if I did see it though. It’s the only home node I am missing from my home instance.
It is currently on the TP at 5999 gold. Which for me, is out of reach. It showed up a couple of times in the past couple of months.
D:
I’d have to buy a lot of gem cards for that (which I’m not going to do; Anet has a ways to go before I spend that kind of money on them again). ._.

I haven’t pre-ordered yet.
So far PoF hasn’t offered me anything that has prompted me to throw down money for a pre-order.
It’s not really worth getting GW1 for that stuff. I made the same mistake and regretted it. GW1 is exactly the kind of game I despise playing, despite giving it a chance.
After over 4 years and thousands of gameplay hours, I’ve grown bored of GW2. The introduction of elite specialisations isn’t really breathing life into it for me. I miss the excitement gw2 generated at launch, and even 3 years later. I would love to experience it again if GW3 ever releases. Please don’t release any more expansions. I hope the next release from ANET is a sequel to this legendary game, and lets move on before it dies completely.
I’m sure Anet has taken your suggestion to heart and have cancelled PoF just to make GW3 for you.
I’m sure you’re on the fast track to being hired by Anet with this quality post.
On a serious note though i’m sure arenanet are prepared to make rytlock the all seeing, all powerful master of the universes if that means they can release another rytlock mini/collectors statue (now with glowing wings). He is already close enough to defying the fabrics of time as it is so it shouldn’t be a problem.
I hope this doesn’t happen. Bad enough I hate Rytlock and Anet is already shoving him down my throat every rotten chance they get. :\
I don’t know man, he’s been MIA a lot lately. He was gone a long time when he chased his sword into the Mists, and shortly after the events of HoT he got “recalled” back to the Black Citadel, only returning at the beginning of PoF. We’ve not seen a ton of him lately.
I don’t really care all that much and here’s why (personal opinion and whining/complaining incoming):
I think he’s a badly written character. He has one character trait: jerk (and not the lovable kind). There’s nothing interesting, compelling, or redeeming about that. That isn’t enough for me to care about anything he does past, present, or future other than him doing it as far away from me as possible, preferably in a completely different area in a different story that doesn’t take place in my own. Like the movie Twilight, you could replace Rytlock with a cheeseburger for the entire “story” of Guild Wars 2 and get the same outcomes without having to tweak anything.
I’d much rather see Zojja come back but it’s clear Anet has fridged her for good. We haven’t seen her since near the end of HoT and we don’t know what her condition is and how her capture has affected her (I don’t count hearsay from other Asura and Rytlock in LWS3 Ep 1 to be “news”: unless the PC has actually seen her then we don’t and won’t know her condition until we do when and if Anet decides to bring her back). Heck, we don’t know much about how much Logan’s changed other than that he’s been affected based on his dialogue in Ep 4 of LWS3. That’s a story/plot with plenty to delve into, plenty to explore in terms of possible repercussions, in my opinion. However, Anet seems to be more focused on GW1 namedropping and relying heavily on that nostalgia, which feels alienating to someone like myself who tried to get into GW1 but couldn’t.
At the end of the day this is all just me really whining and complaining about a character I don’t like at all and not looking forward to spending time with in PoF if I even buy it so feel free to ignore me. I needed to get that off of my chest. To those who like Rytlock, more power to you all. Have fun.
I just find him to be uninteresting, poorly developed, poorly written, and poorly executed (much like the bulk of GW2’s story but I’ve already ranted enough on the matter of Rytlock so I’m not going to go into GW2’s story).

I’m seeing entitlement on both sides of this argument but don’t mind me, I’m just enjoying the theatrics.

I want a Colin skin.
No one and I mean no one uses Mystic or Master Kits to salvage Blue or Green gear same goes for Silver-o-Matic.
Hoo boy do I have bad news for you…
In turn, Anet should open PvP and WvW up to the PvE players, have it where they can farm and RP and do events/achievements in PvP and WvW maps without having to worry about the PvP/WvW elements.
Also the same should be done for raids, dungeons, and fractals too.

The Caudecaus Story was introduced at launch and only just resolved recently, 4.5 years later. Not every thread is going to get tied immediately.
Just to cement the point that Anet takes way too long on some plots:
Lazarus’ story was introduced in Eye of the North. In 2007.
This.
And the longer Anet waits to resolve things, the quicker audience retention is gonna drop, people are gonna get tired of waiting, and they’re going to move on. Eventually the entire story as a whole will suffer and people will stop caring about what happens even when and if they revisit something they left hanging.
Granted, I can’t speak for everyone but this is what happened to me. Were it not for the game play, I would have left GW2 a while back.
Stop playing this game for the story and you will save yourself a lot of headaches.
Don’t play the game for the story and you will save yourself a lot of headaches.
About tree fiddy.
If your party wiped due to low dps and you had the lowest dps, why wouldn’t you be kicked?
I can understand that most people just want to complete their daily fractals as fast as possible, but if you’re not willing to play with people, who might not live up to your expectations, don’t do PUGs. Instead of just kicking players, maybe offer them some helpful pieces of advice and actually help them get better. Kicking players and telling them to “get gud” is just an easy way out for jerks. It’s simply rude.
People on the internet would rather be that “internet tough guy” “git gud” jerk to impress their e-friends than to actually be nice and productive to others. :\
Nice to see the raiding community is consistent in being awful as usual. :^)
Why? Boss has dps checks, low dps players get kicked. This is the most logical thing possible! It used to be it didn’t matter how good you were, if you werent running a meta class (read ele) and the group wiped due to lack of dps you were kicked. Terrible eles were filling groups and doing pathetic dps, but since they were meta (because if you’re good the potential dps is through the roof)they’d never get kicked. Now WITH dps meters I DON’T get kicked because my guard pushes 17k dps while eles doing 300dps DO get kicked. It’s fair! I won’t argue that gear score/ilevel is bull kitten but dps meters? no son.
Thanks for proving my point. :^)
Nice to see the raiding community is consistent in being awful as usual. :^)
Watch them try to solve these crises anyway in the expansion and fumble it spectacularly. :V
Rares and exotics are gated behind the unid boxes. This has been confirmed numerous times.
Is there a link to this confirmation?
I am not questioning anyone’s honesty, but with only a demo to go on, I would like to see something official before taking it into consideration as a fact.
There’s another thread about this very issue. I don’t know why it hasn’t been merged with this one but if you follow the link I posted a user has posted screenshots of it.

If you don’t want to lose more players, do better with the story writing
Yeah, that won’t be happening any time soon. :^)
I would predict that they’ll throw whatever storyline we are following then out of the window to pull a new bad guy out of a hat with no connection or introduction, and then we are going into xpack 3 fresh and free from any previous story, sense or care about any of the major NPCs.
Oh wait, that’s this xpack. Hrm. Guess they might repeat it?
This is the correct answer.
I was hoping we’d pole vault into PoF.
Hahaha… no, killing a brainless NPC 1 second slower, that is irrelevant. In PvP combat, minor stuff like this can have a major impact, especially with exponential growth (ie 25 condi necros in a zerg).
Not judging much, are we? Well I guess it can have major impact for all of those 25 PvPers left in GW2.
I wish I could upvote this more than once.

Anet has been working hard to remove all background personalization from creation / personal story, or to minimalize it if they can’t remove it. So I wouldn’t worry about your character’s back story.
Or any of the story for that matter. :^)
You discover it was all a dream..
If only this could be the true ending to HoT…
…but I’d also settle for this for PoF if it nullifies the events of HoT and the last fifth of LWS2.

Nothing of consequence.
because nc soft is a greedy kitten and refuses to share profits with LORD GABEN
Gaben has enough money already.
Gaben is also greedy.
Take off the rose-tinted glasses when it comes to Valve/Steam.
I predict Anet’s gonna fumble the story somehow.
Very disappointed that the story is going away from killing elder dragons. In the beginning, the theme was always that we were going to battle the elder dragons one-by-one. It was exciting to predict which one would be next. We’ve been waiting so long for the next one. I feel like they are now taking the epic elder dragon fight away from me!
The logo of GW2 is a dragon. The logo of HOT is a dragon. And the logo of POF is a dragon….. so I hope I’m wrong.
The sooner you stop caring about the story the better the overall game becomes. That’s been my experience so far.
Not everything needs to be on Steam and I’m glad GW2 doesn’t follow this trend.
Canach is love, Canach is life. <3
It’ll make dealing with Coldsteel the Hedgeheg Rytlock more bearable at least. <_<
(edited by TheOrlyFactor.8341)
That’s really debatable and it’s going to vary on who you ask. Personally, I feel like the story has gone downhill since the start of LWS3, maybe even as early as mid to late LWS2.
My Asura need Charr mounts. Maybe some extra-curricular running and transporting will burn off some of that excess anger those warcats have. :^)
This is really nice. <3
Sorry an Anet employee broke into your house and held you at gunpoint/knifepoint until you bought a glider skin from the gem store, OP. Maybe invest in better home security?

Let’s be honest, the convenience factor on legendary trinket is overrated.
Pretty much my feelings on Legendaries as a whole in general. I don’t deviate beyond a couple of playstyles so Ascended fits me just fine.
I actually got Fearless on my first try. o_O
Having a Berserker with a condi build (Sinister) is probably what helped me get it, as well as persistent use of CC skills.
75-words (or less) version:
When are we going to ever get an update on Zojja that doesn’t consist of hearsay? Heck, when are we getting an update on things unresolved from Heart of Thorns?
Story felt disjointed and all over the place. Not a fan. New map is okay but still really laggy. Shrines are an interesting alternative to waypoints. I don’t find myself ever using the new mastery at all.
Unfiltered version:
As far as the new map goes, it’s an okay addition. I miss the typical ways to farm unbound magic by killing things but if I wanna farm unbound magic then I’ll go to those maps. The lag still occurring on the map makes doing anything a pain though, whether it’s farming pearls, doing events, doing achievements, etc. I was originally against the shrines-as-waypoints system but it’s grown on me. I kind of like it. I don’t find myself really using the new mastery. At the same time, I’m glad it’s not tied to map exploration.
As far as the story goes…I’m going to be honest. I’m tired. I don’t care anymore. I want to care but it’s clear from the writing thus far that they want to act like HoT didn’t exist. My favorite character, Zojja, is still in an undetermined state that could have been resolved in a Current Event but for some reason that hasn’t been done. If you’re not going to do anything with her, then at least kill her off so that there’s closure instead of leaving those of us who care about the character hanging like we’re doing now.
Speaking of other hanging threads (related to HoT or even pre-HoT), there’s also the status of the Nightmare Court, what’s going on with the Zephyrites after being blown out of the sky, the locket/pendant/artifact that’s supposed to determine the true heir to the Krytan throne, among others that have yet to be resolved. However, the writing team(s) seem more keen on appeasing the GW1 fans now. I feel like this is really reflected in the overall writing and theme of LWS3 now that it’s done and over with.
I’m not against that. I’m glad the GW1 fans/vets are getting their time. I just think it was done in a way that it neglects those who never touched GW1 or can’t get into it (such as myself). I have no real investment in the lore of GW1. As far as I’m concerned, all of LWS3 – not just Episode 6 – gets a giant shrug from me because I don’t have that investment in GW1. My investment is in the story threads I mentioned before and it’s clear from the LWS3 releases that that’s not what Anet cares about at the moment, so therefore I can’t be bothered to care anymore.
This non-linear form of storytelling, this jumping from one thing to another without resolving prior things is becoming bothersome, frustrating, difficult to keep up with and, more importantly, difficult to care about. Like I said before, at one time I cared about the story. I still want to care about the story. However, going by what’s been released and going by the general direction of the story, I can’t be invested anymore. I can’t be bothered to care anymore. I’m tired. I’ve moved on.
So I guess congrats to Anet for at least getting and keeping the gameplay fresh and accessible because that – and playing with a friend of mine – is what’s keeping me in the game and encouraging me to continue gem card purchases as well as a standard pre-order of PoF. It certainly isn’t the story keeping me engaged anymore. Without the gameplay and friend though, I’d definitely move onto other games.

Why bother bringing characters back? ANet’s writing staff is just going to fridge them.
:\
Pretty much this, sadly.
Despite this there is one character I’d like to see return. Though I know it’s not going to happen for a number of reasons (yet I’m gonna call Anet out on it anyway if she doesn’t show up in Episode 6), I’d like to see Zojja make a return. I want to see how she’s doing and the baseless speculation and hearsay we got from Rytlock and other Asura in Episode 1 isn’t good enough (because it’s baseless speculation and hearsay; as far as I’m concerned, unless the PC saw her with his own eyes like they did Logan in Episode 4, it didn’t happen).
But yeah, I have a feeling that even if she did show up Anet would immediately kill her off because Anet seems to think emulating the rampant character killing found in Game of Thrones is the way to make engaging stories. :\
