Is there anything being done to the problems regarding lag and disconnects?
Primetime Tier 1 WVW is a complete stutterfest and nothing has changed in… forever.
I just had a ping of 400+ on homes primetime EU, normal ping is around 30-50.
This not only is completely unplayable but also pretty unfair to classes that rely on precise movement and positioning etc.
My thief for example makes a 180 degree turn midair with heartseeker, looks funny but is totally annoying.
Some of the lags have taken over normal PVE content aswell, even in dungeons the whole team sometimes has seconds long freezes.
Im kinda amazed this isn´t a priority at this point, escpecially if you want to raise the cap to condi dmg.
But again… I’m not trying to completely dump on the idea.
Asking Arena.net to offer refunds to people with multiple skins is a really tough sell from a company standpoint… you’re not going to find many companies willing to chase money they MIGHT get with money they ALREADY HAVE.

Any company that doesn´t invest money back, one way or the other, will close shop, pure and simple.
One thing that gets on my nerves pretty heavily is the fact that all of those supporting the current system are only talking about money profits.
What about a customer friendly system, you know, to have happy customers???

Personally i will never buy any Gemstore Skins until a wardrobe system is in place.
Not because i don´t like the skins, but i don´t want to lose the skins i already accumulated over the time. They are also massively overpriced in my opinion, especially for single use.
Lets have this discussion in one or two years again, and i am pretty sure a lot more people would agree that there is no way around a better system.
I am all up for account-bound explo.
Just more alt-friendly, which is always a good thing in my opinion.

If you run a lot of dungeons, like myself, the cinematics become more of an annoyance than anything else.

Just a small thing, but something that has been bugging me for a while now.
Why are there unskippable cinematics in this game?
Just watched the livestream and the molten boss cinematics cant be skipped.
I dont understand the reasoning behind this.
It actually was one of the things i really hated in SAB aswell.
PLS PLS PLS remove unskippable stuff altogether, or better yet, let us choose if we want cinematics at all in dungeons/fractals.
It destroys the flow and is, at least in my opinion, completely unnecessary.

Have this exact same problem with multiple chars and multiple coats.
I enjoy the new update, like the hectic zerginess in the arena, the loot is still pretty good, but what totally destroyed the fun for me this update was the missing WP and no instance for the gauntlet.
First off, no WP!?
If this was made intentional, let me tell you, not many people rezz, and if they do, they get teleported in to the dome a few seconds after, leaving you still dead on the ground.
Sure i can go to a dome with multiple people waiting to get in, but then i also have to wait for my turn longer.
Why is this a problem? Because when you´re fighting a hard boss, you´re “in the zone”, you don´t want to get back out and wait 15 minutes to get back in.
Plus the buff-food etc is pretty pricey since this update, only getting 2-3 runs within a 30 minute buff is quite annoying.
I don´t play this game to stand around doing nothing, watching others fight.
Second, no Instance.
My PC can handle any situation outside of a zerg just fine, but when there is 50-100 people around, everything is getting laggy.
Especially awesome when you are in the middle of a bossfight and the legendary spawns near your dome in the arena.
They should have made the whole gauntlet instanced, so framerates and connection lags are not an issue.
It´s a shame really, another good part of the content update was pretty much destroyed (for me) because of these massive oversights.
We can think of new solutions all day long, but it wont help.
Why?
Because a balance for all the content (PVE/PvP/WvW) will never work, NEVER!
That is why PvP is such a mess and it wont change until Anet finally recognizes that they have been on the wrong path all along.
The whole system is very annoying tbh.
A much cleaner one would be to buy armor/weapons for skins and stats separated and be able to change your look without changing your stats and vice versa.
I dont mind the small fee for changing my traits, but i do mind traveling all the way to a town just to make some minor adjustments.
Also, if we had suggested system in place, i think a lot of people would be more inclined to collect a whole bunch of armor/weapon skins without wasting huge amounts of bag inventory.
Please make it happen ANET!

Personally i think DR is a very bad mechanic and i definitely dont want more of it, not in dungeons, not in open world.
If something like COF1 creates too much money, make another goldsink, but never ever tell ppl what they can and cant enjoy in their game, thats just bad design.
I already wrote an ingame ticket, but it seems that got me nowhere.

For all of you that want to buy all these skins direct consider this scenario.. They are all on the gem store buy direct. You can’t wait to get your elite new skin. You buy gems with money or (gold that you can earn in game at no cost other than time) get your skin and put it on. You head to LA and look around, everyone is wearing the same skin you have. Suddenly it doesn’t seem so special does it?
I tend to disagree with that statement.
For me at least, exclusivity comes from various armor/weapon/color combinations and over time.

You can´t make everything super exclusive, because there will literally nobody walking around with certain skins.
I really wanted the grinning shield skin on Halloween, but refused to get suckered in to the rng. Since then i have seen exactly 0 people having that skin equipped on my server.
On other games i played, where cosmetics were a big part, exclusivity often came after a period of time. Lets take the grinning shield as an example again, if more people got their skin, but decided later that it didn´t fit their overall style, we could see less and less equipped. After a while it would be more exclusive again.

Like many others i have met, i haven´t spend a single cent on the gemstore.
Partly because there is nothing i highly desire, partly because i refuse to buy any rng related stuff. On top of that, even if there is stuff i would like to buy from the store, i really don´t want to support a company that is so heavily relying on random rewards in game and in the store.
Another problem for me of course, since i am an altoholic, prices are way to steep to justify a 10 € investment for a single item.
In short, in order for me to invest some real money into this, prices need to come down quite considerably and no rng in the store.

I reported this problem months ago, made a thread about it, nothing has changed.
If i log out and in again, i finally am able to have other options than “report”.
We probably have to live with it for another few months, until a patch fixes it.
You are playing the game for a singular purpose… and if your unable to take failure on the chin then dont play the game of chance.
There is nothing wrong with RNG, its there for a reason … and the rules are staring you openly in the face risk it for a bigger reward or lose out the value of the item in game or on the TP.
What you are saying does not make any sense.. you choose to grind content over and over with a view to amassing Ecto’s.. but at the same time you are grinding the RNG game over and over with Salvage kits knowing full well that it carries a risk that has always been there and is in any MMO that I have ever played.
But becuase you have caught a few bad rolls you now want some form of guaranteed return, which in essence negates the need for RNG so the economy will become adversely affected and other players will launch themselves on to the forums whinning that they cant make any gold now with all the Ecto’s, etc they have farmed cos lets not forget that salvge kits are not just in the game for retieving Ecto’s, unless you want to have every item affected by RNG to be given a level playing field.
I would hazard a guess the game retains more players over a period of time with a chance of failure inherant to the mechanics than it will if everything became so much easywin to get hold of to the point we’re bored with nothing to log in for until the next update lands and with it a few more hours gameplay till its exhausted again.
Personally I would love to be able to spend £1 a week on my lottery ticket safe in the knowledge that I will at least get my money back if I dont match the minimum 3 of the 6 winning numbers the RNG system spurts out but I am sure that will never happen in my lifetime

Either way, this has nothing to do with wanting to feel progression.
RNG is there for a reason, yes, because its the easy way out for developers.
Why people keep running the same dungeon over and over again?
Because they know what they will get in the end, with some added drops.
If tokens were rng based, i can guarantee you we would see a lot less action in dungeons.
I wouldn´t mind if ectos were account-bound, at least this way the economy would not be depended on a single item so much.
If everyone would stop salvaging because they have had a bad streak, where would you get your ectos then, hmm?
I am refusing to see this as a valid option, farming gold and buying the items you really want instead.
As i said before, i like to get my stuff by playing the game, not the tp!
And please, stop with those real life comparisons, they have absolutely no place in here.
This is a game, and most people play it for fun, not to have bad luck and get a slap in the face after few hours of playtime, instead of having fun reaching a goal.
Of course it would be… why go buy ecto’s when you can just farm rares in Openworld.. i regualrly hit 3-6 rares in a few hours of gameplay most nights without even trying.
Then consider how it would affect the bigger economy ie gem sales to purchase Ectos etc… drops in hard coin sales doesnt take long before the business model begins to suffer.. that then could lead to all manner of nerfs or worse slower content releases, even worse support and pretty soon maintenance mode is instigated.
So no, risk and reward are what makes RNG more fun… entitlement doesn’t.

What i wanted to say in my initial post, discouraging people to play more is not the way to go, and i am not alone with this opinion.
I want to feel progression (you may call it entitlement or whatever).
It actually doesn´t matter if we get more ectos in the end, what does matter is the bad taste in my mouth after completing fractal level 30 with 0 ectos to show for it (just as an example).
So the whole business model, if this even is one, falls flat, because the goal you want to reach “seems” not getting closer at the rate you want it to be.
A lot of people will simply stop playing, so no need for more content and no moneyz for anet.
Just let me put this out there:
If you spent two hours playing the game, for the goal of getting ectos, then getting none, does this make you go —> yeah, no dice, i´ll better keep playing! or does it make you think about playing another session, because you can´t feel any progression at all?
Well it seems to me you have gone some way in actually answering your own post.
Economy needs certain things to stay controlled otherwise their would be no need for an economy.
By guaranteed Ecto drops where would the market be for Ecto’s, as well as the hook to grab hard coin from players to buy gems… to then purchase Ecto’s on the TP.
Endgame is in its infancy in GW2, therfore they need ways to keep players engaged, hooked and keen to keep striving for the end of the rainbow… but to do that RNG has to contol things a little.
Now consider how many times you run FotM or Dungeons then add in RNG for Loot from trash mobs, Vets and Champs, Map Bosses etc… then think how many Ecto’s that equates to in just a few days, multiply that by a months game play and you start to realise how ridiculous your idea becomes.. how many players would still be around after a few months of farming Ecto’s for that elusive prize.An MMO doesn’t survive too long if players can accomplish everything in a few weeks, the Devs could never keep up with the constant whine of we want more things to do, we need content but we dont want it to be difficult or grindy….
So is there some race to get to the otherside of this rainbow, cos if so I must of missed the whistle.
I don´t agree.
There still would be a random aspect with 1-3 and 1-5.
The rate of getting 0 ectos is already much higher than getting max ectos.
In regards to getting everything in a few weeks:
I have played GW2 for over 1000 hours now, i have made no special skin or legendary, simply because i like to play the game instead of the tp.
The stuff i want requires 250 ectos PER skin!
It will take me a few months of normal play-style to amass this amount.
In this time-frame there should not be any problem to create a few new skins that i might want afterwards.
Sure the economy would adjust, but is this necessarily a bad thing?
A long time back there was a thread about this and a developer said they are looking into it.
Nothing has changed, runes and sigils from dungeons are still soulbound.
Yesterday i got an exotic from fractals from a normal mob on jade level, after salvaging i received a soulbound rune, which is totally useless for my guardian and worth a bit of cash on the tp.
Can we please get clarification if this gets changed?
Otherwise i can just vendor this stuff and don´t waste my bag and bank space
I would really like to hear the reasoning behind the decision to make 0-3 and 0-5 from salvaging rares and exotics.
What exactly would change, if we had a guaranteed ecto out of rares and exotics?
For me personally, i would love to have at least something accomplished after finishing an already bad (loot) fractal run.
Instead i hear everyone moan in teamspeak about not receiving anything out of their rares, myself included.
Since more or less the whole end game revolves around ectos, and lots of it, it is really not encouraging to have five rares in a row salvage in to no ectos at all.
If it´s to encourage us to play more, i have seen quite the opposite effect, where people stop playing certain aspects of the game, simply because it is not worth it.
Any good reason why this can´t be changed for the better?
The problem is, it is not truly RNG, because your luck is predefined when you enter a fractal.
I am pretty certain at this, at least from running the last 20-30 fractal dailies or so.
Leveled my guardian to 30 with a lot of good drops and lots of rings in the early levels.
Then, something changed and my droprate went way down to an average of 2-3 rares per run, no rings in a long time.
With my warrior at level 9 i have the same bad luck continue, very rarely any good stuff.
Most of the times its one blue after the other, and i already know that in every single chest there will be nothing of any value.
Regarding to ring RNG:
Dont know if anyone else has the same “luck” of getting the same ring five times, out of about 10 in total, and most of the rings with condi and magic find?
On one hand it really is way too long, on the other hand, its one of the few fractals where i actually get some decent loot.
I think they could easily cut the amount of adds in half and it still would be long enough.
Drops are not consistent at all.
DEVs said there is a higher chance of rings on higher fractals, this is not true for me.
Havent got any rings or skins in a long time (fractal level 26+).

No exotis, very few rares on most runs, no cores or anything of value in the maw chest.
On average i get about 1-2 rares and 10+ greens, thats it.
Most times i am really unlucky for 3-4 runs, with a somewhat lucky run in between.
I really think they should revamp loot in fractals, because running a level 30 fractal with one rare to show for it is really discouraging.
On a sidenote:
Yesterday i got only 20 tokens for completing path 3 Sorrows Embrace, although i didnt complete it before.
So yes, DR is hitting even though it shouldnt!
Probably another thing that is bugged and wont be looked at until there is a thread with 1k replies.
After many in-game tickets and threads on the forums, i have yet to receive an answer to any of my questions and submitted bugs.
For me the tech support is non-existend!
This is the first game i ever played where i feel totally left alone when it comes to bugs and problems.
I totally understand if i have to wait a few days, or even a week, for an answer, but no answer at all, thats unacceptable!
Anybody from my guild and friends list got the same experience, not a single report was answered.

Why so many defenders of the current system are making a real life comparison is absolutely beyond me.

Im not talking about legendaries, because quite frankly, i dont care for them one bit, im talking about hundreds of other items (runes/sigils), that can only be aquired through the TP.
How many runes of divinity have you found by playing the game?
I got exactly one. So what happens if i want a whole set of those? Have to go to the TP.
Not saying that this sepcific rune is the most desirable, just taking this as an example really.
This has also nothing to do with cosmetics, but with my playstyle, if i so desire to choose a rune-set that hardly ever drops.
Now someone else is dictating how much i have to pay for a single rune, this price may be stable, but is probalby going up, because its quite rare.
Anet made two major mistakes in my opinion.
1.) Making legendaries tradeable
2.) Making ectos tradeable and only really one way to produce/get them (by salvaging)
and also being the single most important ingredient in any high end equipment
On one hand they are swinging the ban-hammer hard at bots, introduce DR and other mechanics, to stop too much valuables flooding the market, but on the other hand they more or less encourage you to search for loopholes and almost drive people to go to goldsellers.
If the most desirable items in the game were non-tradeable, like we have already with ascended stuff, a lot of those problems would go away.
The current system already made an impact.
Just look for any specific gear under level 60 or so.
Right, there are no choices left, because people stopped producing those goods because of the lack of any profit.
Youll see how this effect spreads even more, once the majority of players has leveled their chars and noboby is producing anything anymore.
To the people who are saying that flippers actually contribute a lot to the system.
If everyone would use this method of “making money”, surely there would be no goods or no money left (tp fee) after a while.

If you call skipping one group of mobs “speedrunning” and “exploiting”, then i really think you should stop right there.
Also what the guy above me said, had her bug out with killing everything and also with skipping some of the mobs.
If you do AC not in your 80s, the last encounter can take a while, so why not let us skip, if we so desire?

I have to make the argument that your deals are coming at the expense of another player. You are arguing against market efficiency because you want to exploit other people easier, I don’t agree that’s a positive goal for the game overall (though I make no judgement about personal goals).
Sadly i have to agree, “money making mechanics” in this game are not fun.
After over 1000 hours of playtime i get the impression that a lot of the things they put in as a longterm goal are only achievable in an acceptable timeframe if you “play” the tp.
To the comment that john made, how is the current system any differnet in this regard?
Very Rich people either exploited some game mechanics, or by taking money from other players directly via trading post.
I made this statement on another thread already, but am happy to say it here again.
Just look at the cost of an infused backpack for instance.
This will set you back a “lousy” 250 ectos, something only for the rich kids!
Obviously nobody calculated this through, how much time one needs to invest, without the tp, to collect a whole stack of these.
I see the trading post as a way to get rid of some stuff i have no need for and in exchange get some stuff others dont need, but are usefull for me.
This is the way, at least in my humble opinion, the system should work.
By no means should someone be “forced” to stay in LA multiple hours every session, just to get some nicer things in this game.
The whole inflation argument would be invalid, if we didnt need to rely on the tp so heavily.
What does it matter really, if there are fixed prices for a lot more items?
Why are there hundreds of items only available through trading and nowhere else?
Just as a sidenote:
I know how to make money on the tp, but i dont enjoy it and i like to play the real game instead.
I dont want to have everything handed to me on a silver platter either, just make it a more constant goal im working towards (for example by adding more stuff as fixed recipes and from npc vendors).
The last level 10 runs were extremely frustrating for me (im at 26 currently).
Some of the players obviously never set foot in any/some fotm level before, others have but didnt know the added difficulties at higher levels.
Adding the problem that 90% of players are angry at you because you want to explain some specific mechanics and of course dont follow your instructions and fail while doing it.
It seems that a lot of them want to learn it on their own, wich is fine by me, but pretty please not on a level 10 run, where i specifically asked for experienced players!
Anet can fix part of the problem by dividing fractals into brackets
1-9 / 10-19 / 20-29 and so on…
They also should highlight that doing a run on a much higher level then your current one gives no extra/better loot whatsoever.
The small text on the right top corner obviously isnt enough.
Did level 26 yesterday and got absolutely nothing.
No Cores, no Vials/Shards, no rares/exotics, no ring, no T6 mats, nothing!
In the end i had about 5-6 greens, valued at around 10s, and a bunch of blues for salvage.
My feeling after 170 runs, youre luck is predefinded before you start them.
If i have a very successfull run the day before, i know i shouldnt play fotm the next day, because loot will be non-existend.
I dont see any reason to progress any further to be honest.
I would much more like it if they would spread the rewards across all runs, not just some lucky ones followed by extremely unlucky ones.
Also, the whole system with infusing rings and backpacks is – how can i put this mildly – not well thought through.
In order to infuse your backpack you need 250 ectos, which is an absurd number, and you only need the added +5AR to progress further in fotm, nowhere else in the game.
BUT to get my invested 250 ectos back, i would have to play a lot of fotm or hit a major loot streak, which is never going to happen.
So unless they pump up the rewards on higher level significantly, i really dont see why anyone would bother farming 250 ectos just for this.
For now i keep playing fotm because i like the challenge and the overall design of the maps, but i can already see myself not wanting to do them anymore, because reward to time ratio is out of whack.
If you fail the part with the two seals on first try, all the mobs stay in place, which makes it a lot more difficult to complete.
In a perfect setup with all experienced players it can be done within a few minutes, with a subpar group this is nearly impossible.
My question is, is this working as intended or is it bugged?
Also, you probably know that the endboss sometimes buggs out if you stay up close when he drops the Mc Hammer!?
This is the most annying bug while playing fractals at this moment.
Cliffside, picking up the hammer only possible if i stand 100% still, otherwise im taking a dive.
Svanir, same with the torches, makes it extremely difficult to light the fireplaces in between 20 mobs that kick you down every 2 seconds.
Finally, Jade Maw, the only reason why we sometimes wipe this boss is because almost everyone has the same bug. Want to pick up crystal and start running all the way in the middle of the platform.

Yersterday i was cutting it close, very close
Just finished my daily achievements a minute before reset.
On the right side of my screen the message with 100% completion popped up, i was really happy… until i realized that i didnt get any rewards for it
It was exactly 0:59 when i finished it and at 1:00 there was the reset.
I would REALLY appreciate it if someone from tech support could look into it.

The reason why i suggested weapon transformation is simply because, if i take my guardian for example, the AC weapon skins dont match at all with any colour combination i have tested so far.
If i could change the glow to another colour, that would be amazing!
I agree with the armor skins.
There sould be a special locker and no need for any transformation stones.

On many occasions my UI on right click changes and i can only report everyone, but nothing else.
Havent figured out what causes this problem.

I want to apologize upfront for my bad english, i am not a native speaker but will do my best to keep this post as clear as possible
Let me start by saying that i am playing GW2 since a few days after release and am still enjoying it very much.
Something that i havent done is spending any real cash in the store, because of a few reasons:
First, there is not much desirable to even buy with gems.
The few things that i would buy are way off in terms of pricing, not considering the conversion rate (gold/gems), but the real money i would need to “waste” on a few goodies.
This is my first MMO and i never would have bought GW2 with a monthly subscription. I do however would like to support the company and enable them to produce more content and release patches more frequently (on top of an improved QA and Support).
Before i will list the things i would buy, i want to give a short insight to my mindset when it comes to purchasing video games. Normally my main focus is value for money (cash vs playtime). For me, it has to be at least in the 1€/hour range to even consider buying any game. There is a sale on a lot of sites almost every week and i pick a few gems for around 5-15€ a few months after release.
Keeping that in mind, paying 5€ for a single bag expansion in GW2 is totally out of the question.
Were not living in 2007 anymore and the current store has no microtransactions of any kind.
Steam released a few sale figures last christmas and they also said that more people buy stuff for cheap (obviously), but resulting in overall greater income for the publishers, although prices in some cases were cut by 75% and more.
I think with a real microtransaction store people would be inclined to make an impulse buy more often, i know i mos def would

Some might say im a cheepo, and maybe youre right, but that is the pricing i would be comfortable with, spending a few bucks here and there, which is more than i am now!
Of course there are a few items that you only need to buy once and be done, but there could be a lot more items (for example skins), that would generate a steady stream.
Also in regards to colours, there could be a lot more things that can be done.
For example different camoflage types, neon, transmutation stones for changing weapon colours aswell.
I am really interested what you guys think and maybe we can all benefit from that!

Is it just me or is the giant slayer achievement pretty ridiculous?
Havent killed a single giant so far and have four level 80 chars and roamed the whole world multiple times.
If someone would ever get this achievement, its because of pure grinding the same spot all over and over and over again.
Now we are supposed to kill a thousand of those?
My suggestion:
Either bring the required numbers down or make this type of enemy available across the whole world and in dungeons too.
If you havent played to at least lvl 40-50 you dont know the potential of each class.
Most classes open up tremendously with more abilities and skills at your disposal.
I do agree that some professions seem to be very stale and boring, but you can change things around with different weapons and skills all the time.
I think a way to save different setups and being able to switch them in between fights would open up the system quite a bit.
Another thing that i would strongly suggest is to reduce cooldown across the board on abilities (pve only).
Finally divide PVE from PVP content and make the combat system more interesting.
I have so many skills i never use, not because they arent good, but the cooldown is just not worth it.
Would love to be able to switch skills on cooldown too, timer could stay the same, but please let me at least change them

I didnt come to my conclusion because i went to the forums, i went there AFTER i noticed something fishy myself.
I see a big difference when i use my BL-kits though, where the rate is the same as before.
Fact is, we dont know the exact values behind the rng system, and a lot of people are complaining about this.
Some maybe lucky and get same results as before, others are obviously very very unlucky (or bugged out).
I just remembered that my mystic kit was made (forged) with another character and i couldnt equip it with any other char although it said accountbound.
Since the last patch i can do exactly that.
Maybe that has something todo with it?
Two things need to happen:
1) overhaul loot across the board accordingly to your time spent on any event
2) map overview of all the main events
a lot of stuff isnt even noticed by the majority of players, because they dont know those pretty amazing eventchains and bosses even exist.
At the moment it feels like they dont want us to play normal pve content, only fractals and AC runs give somewhat decent returns.
Just because it works for you, doesnt mean it works for everyone else.
I for one got almost always 1 ecto per salvage on average a few weeks back, now its more like every 10th attempt gives me one ecto.
Last two days i got 0 ectos back to back from all my rare items, something that didnt happen before.
So grats to you for your 88,3% chance, unfortunately thats not the same rate i was getting.
I dont care what anybody is saying, i make my own conclusions —> ectos got nerfed (at least on my end).
Only with the mystic kit though, bltc kit is the same as always.
Why that might be? I think you guys can find a good answer for this
On a sidenote:
I havent seen a single exotic drop (other than from map completion or story) in the whole time i was playing this game.
I have two lvl 80s and one lvl 50 btw
I dont need the best stuff in the game to be happy.
BUT one big problem i have with a gear treadmill is the constant need to re-balance the events to the new introduced gear.
Something that can be a lot of work and is totally unnecessary.
It seems like Anet is going down the path of so many companies these days: Existing costumers are worth nothing while new customers are worth everything.
What a shame!
Question is, do you guys get actual drop loot?
From the Patchnotes:
“Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot.”
Killed a bunch of Champions since the patch was released and they either drop nothing at all (most of the time) or just pure crap.
Anyone else having the same luck as me?
