More of the same.
No new skills, more jumping stuff, boring content and events, and once again we have to deal with Scarlet’s crap.
I’m calmquitting until we get a new expansion. If it looks good I’ll rejoin the game. But this patch was just the last straw for me. The LS and these updates have given me too many negatives and not enough pros.
I know I’m not playing until a new expansion like Factions or Nightfall.
What happened ANet? I know GW2 has “More” to put in but the living story has felt like bread crumbs compared to the full meals the expansions gave us.
Which I assume is also why PVPers aren’t allowed to freely change their skins now without having to get charges now.
You apply skins to weapons and armor, after you apply it you can still keep them in your inventory and swap them for free.
Thats true, I didn’t think about that, but that now means I have to spend a lot of bank space or character space holding different item skins if I’m someone who likes to swap skins when I feel like it.
I liked having the huge storage I could put everything I had and could swap with whenever I wanted.
If the game had free skin changes like DCUO or LOTRO this wouldn’t be an issue, but why should we have to pay for it?
Dude, TBH with you, I think it’s fine. They don’t charge monthly subscription fee, and they need to make a living. Most of the thing in pvp is free already, except for cosmetics (and the new traits/amulets). You can’t have your cake and eat it too. For hardcore pvp players like us, we already have a good percentage of our wardrobe filled. Cosmetics is what keeping GW2 free for everyone.
I’m for one agree that they can charge a little small fee for cosmetics and keep the game free for most people.
I can have my cake and eat it too in DCUO and LOTRO, and those didn’t cost me a 60 dollar box fee too.
If this game wants to act like a F2P game then it should become one. I support Buy To Play MMOs like GW2 BECAUSE I wanted to avoid crap like this.

Could you at least tell us WHY you did this change? It seems so pointless.
To bring PvP in line with how the rest of the game works.

I don’t understand the reason behind it but its not exactly my call to make.
“Just deal with it”
Thanks, bro.
I wouldn’t put it that way, but we did expect a period of adjustment.
Could you at least tell us WHY you did this change? It seems so pointless and no doubt be confusing to new players.
“You can play from level 1, you only need chest, legs, and boots as they are the only gear that count toward armor rating.”
What happened to “You can jump in and do PVP right away as soon as you finished the tutorial”?
What was the point in merging PvE and PvP like this?
I don’t follow what you mean. You will only be missing some cosmetic only gear, this should not be a barrier to entry in any way.
Its a pointless change that I cannot see the merit of it is all.
Also why do we have to spend transmutation charges to change our PVP gear skin? We never had to do that before.

You have to buy the upgrade remover from the gemstore now.
Wait…..so even if you unlocked them prepatch you now have to pay transmutation charges to equip them? This is a joke right? I thought they would be unlocked to freely use unless you wanted to make a duplicate. I haven’t logged in yet. Please tell me I’m wrong.
You have to spend a charge every time. Hope you like spending money.
Chest, leg, and boot are used. You’re fine without a helmet, shoulders, or gloves.
And if someone wants helmet shoulders and gloves?
I’ll post here the first post of a thread I opened an hour ago:
I took my time to go through the new Wardrobe. All was good, but then a question came to my mind:
What if I want to move an upgrade, say a Divinity Rune, from a Chest piece to another Chestpiece?
Before, we used to do that with a Transmutation Crystal. Now how can we do it?For example, let’s assume I have an Exotic Soldier Chestpiece, with a Divinity Rune on it. Say I craft an Ascended Soldier Chestpiece. Now I want to use the Ascended armor piece, but how can I move the upgrade without the Transmutation Crystal? Did I miss something? Or am I forced to salvage the Exotic item (assuming I can salvage it of course, as many WvW/Karma/Dungeon Items cannot be salvaged), get the upgrade, and then put it on the Ascended item?
There WAS a way to keep an upgrade before, by transmuting an “unsalvageable” item into a salvageable one and salvaging the upgrade. What can we do now to avoid losing a valuable upgrade?
Buy the upgrade remover off the Gem Store of course.
This game is starting to feel like a korean F2P scamfest.
Oh man I completely forgot about this.
Remember when they said you could have a PVP character without doing any PvE?
Why the kitten should we embrace the change? I liked being able to change whatever gear I unlocked whenever I feel like it. Now I have to work for it or even worse, PAY for it?!
I’m not paying ANet a cent off their Gem Store now because of this.
What is ANet doing lately? Are they insane?
Terrible. PVP players got completely screwed by this change.
Just another way of forcing us to pay for Gems, huh ANet?
I always hated the living story.
For the love of all that is holy give us expansions like Factions please.
Better a dungeon than a 60 man zerg fest where you just wail on an HP sponge for 10 minutes.
I feel like I’m playing a cheap F2P game made by Cryptic.
I’m already bored.
Mindless Zerg is not my idea of fun.
Please keep posting this to every thread, I am sure someone here doesn’t yet know your extremely 1 dimensional opinion.
My opinion is just as valid to discuss as those who go around saying “Great job Anet!”
It’s an invasion. What were you expecting, organized duels? :P
Exactly my thinking. I’m not particularly sure what you guys are expecting. We are on the defensive and trying to rescue citizens wherever we can find them. It’s not like marionette where we are on the offensive and trying to destroy a super weapon before it can be used. We were completed obliterated this time around, the zerg mentality fits perfectly well. It’s a war, the main city just got demolished, everything is chaotic, you wouldn’t be wandering around the city alone in this scenario would you? Even if you were, you wouldn’t be foolish enough to tackle a large group of monsters alone.
You’re missing the point. The idea of a large scale warfare isn’t bad. The problem is this event is nothing but massing up into massive piles of bodies and chaos and mashing your skills against HP sponges with little to no strategy. We did this before in the Scarlet Invasions and its getting old and it seems its all ANet knows with how to make PvE content.
And good luck coordinating people to split into groups to tackle the various events or god forbid respawn and run back instead of sitting there dead.
Jeff.4680, just do not follow zerg. No one force you to do it. Today I ran exploring new Lion’s Arch, fought with mobs, ressed citizens. You are the one who make decision to follow zerg or not.
Yeah and get zero rewards out of it.
If you can’t do the zerg due to your computer or network, I’m sorry, but that isn’t Anet’s fault. You can’t expect them to design most content in an mmo specifically for your computer/network’s ability. If you are simply unwilling to do it, then you don’t deserve the rewards. There’s just no other way to say it.
I can do the zerg just fine. Its just absolutely boring. There’s no fun in just spamming skills against a group of HP sinks.
There is nothing fun about a zerg.
Then stop running in one. The event requires groups to be active across the map. If champs are spawning because of a zerg, then something is being neglected elsewhere. ANet structured this one well.
Did you even play the event? You basically split up into 3 mini zergs (or 1 massive one that ignores the other 2 if you’re unlucky) and you mindlessly spam abilities on HP whales and pray you have enough people with you to finish the event. Then you go around other zergs and mash AoEs, all the while praying you are lucky enough to be in an overflow server that knows to split off into groups.
I see anet employee’s have posted to tell us how good their boring re rinse zerg fest is.
awful update as usual.
god! this is really frustraring man, dont you get tired of being so negative? allow yourself to have some fun! you know, in this world NOTHING is perfect, there is always something bad in EVERYTHING, so you just overlook the little details and enjoy the good part.
I’ll say it again, very fun patch and I’m excited to see what else will happen in the upcoming weeks
There is nothing fun about a zerg.
Don’t the best rewards come from rescuing citizens?
In which case, its best to split up and find citizens around the city, and people obviously group up when events occur.
Of course we would group up; we’re waging war. This is a war with scarlet. This isn’t some small battle. I’ve never seen one person fight a war alone. If this were an instance, what would you have? You’d have NPC’s backing you instead of other players.Honestly, I play an MMO for the interaction between players. The more interaction, the better. Zerging is fine in my book; I’m running around with a group and fighting with them. I can leave the group whenever I want, and face the consequences of playing alone in an MMO environment. If I wanted to play for story alone and reduced players, I’d play resident evil Co- op mode or something.
This isn’t interaction. This is huddling into massive lag balls and mashing 1.

Complete and utter failure. This game needed an expansion, not temporary zergs.
Everything from the main story just vanished into a black hole.
Yeah people said the same thing during the Scarlet Invasion and it was nothing but a massive zergfest. This is the exact same. Constant zerg with little reward.
Disaster! one word to describe this update

Boring. I logged in. Thought the destruction was neat. Then realized everything was a laggy zerg.
I thought ANet said they learned from Karka? Guess not.
I logged off already.
I’m already bored.
Mindless Zerg is not my idea of fun.
I can’t comprehend how people can enjoy zerging.
You’re just mindlessly mashing 1-5 against a big thing with minimal chance of being hurt by it.
No thinking, no effort, nothing enjoyable.
ANet won’t see a cent from me until an expansion. I just log in to see what is going on with the LS, find out its not very good (or fun enough to keep me playing), and then log out again.
How about an expansion…
I haven’t played GW2 in months because of living story. An expansion would get me back in.
If its not an expansion I’m not sure if I can get too excited over it.
The moment I have to grind or farm for new content is the moment I look for a new game to play.
I wish I could understand what happened at ANet. It feels like a different team today than the one who made GW1 and the Manifesto.
I support the ticket idea. No one will do Tequila and your efforts will go to waste if all he drops are a few rares and greens.
At least the Karka were a challenge and could wipe out an entire zerg rush.
This is just zerg spamming mobs.
GW1’s first anniversary had a new continent, 2 new classes, new skills for every class, new armor, a new story, new henchmen, new pvp maps, and more…
I doubt we’ll get even half of that here….
More RNG. I guess thats more content I can’t access because I"m not lucky or willing to gamble.
I’d gladly shell out 40-50 for a whole new continent to explore
But I’d really kill for new skills and weapons.Quoted for emphasis.
I spend more then that a month in the gem shop… What is your point?
That crap like that is whats wrong with MMOs nowadays.
Who needs content when you can make more money scamming people with RNG?
Content spread over frequent releases is great and all, but don’t forget the power behind a huge release that rekindles the sense that “Oh gosh, there is so much to do, I’ll never get to it all!” like an expansion gives.
Exactly. Logging in once every 2 weeks, doing a half hour worth of content and going “Well back to waiting for something new” is not good for the world.
I loved it when I got the game and I had a whole world to explore, countless events and things to do, and semi-branching story lines.
Now I got “Travel around the map and press F” and “do a non player-tested dungeon that lasts for a few weeks and doesn’t give much reward” and it just doesn’t feel as fun.
That said, SAB was a step in the right direction.
The problem Colin is these projects have felt fleeting and temporary and simply not anything to get hyped about.
I’d gladly shell out 40-50 for a whole new continent to explore, and I’m also patient for it as well. But hearing that there may be none of that worries me.
But focusing on improving the core GW2 experience is something I can get behind.
But I’d really kill for new skills and weapons.
